As a pregnant person I’m skipping retinoids completely BUT I’m occasionally using salicylic acid in a face wash. As long as it’s under 2% and since I’m using Korean skin care I know the SA there is very low.
Also face wash does not stay on your skin, you rinse it off. I’ve talked with my HCP about this.

It's just skincare. Probably won't do anything because of the low levels of actives. They didn't even ask what I use....

I use azealic acid as my main acne treatment and I’m not pregnant it has helped so much and because I get papular pustule rosacea at the same time it targets both 😀

My skin horribly breaking out (because it was clear and had no issues) was one of my first signs I was pregnant before I even knew. Right along my jaw line I broke out almost immediately after conception until about my 2nd trimester.

Pregnant with both my children literally fixed all my skin issues though with my son i had the brown splotches that went away once they took him out. C section so never gave birth. And the blessing after my son was corrected skin as in no more pimple. Weird how that works but he took my thick luscious hair.
In closing i was blessed with a gene pool full 9f great skin though having kids did crazy things regarding my skin and hair. Now at 40 i almost never get blemishes and it's great. Though id argue because i stopped using all the fancy stuff for pimples is why i dont get them anymore. I simply use a goats milk soap and done. It's not vegan but im not vegan so don't care to worry about than part. After cleansing i only use hyaluronic acid serum and done.
I thank my lucky stars i dont need anything more.

Isnt salicylic acid in tylonol? Thats the only thing they said was safest for pain when I was pregnant i didn't know it was bad for skin when pregnant..
It’s in aspirin. It can cause placental abruption when taking orally. But when preeclampsia comes into play, your OBGYN can prescribe it to you and advise you on taking it safely and why.
I adore Cassandra, but I wish she had consulted or collaborated with with a board certified OBGYN. Mama Doctor Jones would really be someone great she could have reached out to.

I use the ordinary pycnogenol and according to the Internet it should be safe. However I'm not 100% sure ofcourse.
It's possible. The concern with products is whether or not they are absorbed into the body. There are a number of derms who have pregnancy videos.

This was a little disappointing for me…I was hoping for more of a broader selection of brands to choose from, but instead was just suggested a lot of one brand. Still, I was going to give Yours a shot. I just went to the Yours site, took the skin assessment and very clearly marked pregnancy safe products. It still suggested cleansers and toners with salicylic acid. If I hadn’t double checked the ingredients and just trusted that the items were pregnancy safe like I was told, I would have wasted my money.
I'm still watching, but did she mention the brand iS Clinical?? All of their products are safe for pregnant & breastfeeding women.

Kimberly, I’d look around for more comprehensive guidance on this. Because salicylic under 2% is actually fine in pregnancy. This video was more of an ad than useful guidance. Look for videos from Derms.
I’m shocked you keep repeating to avoid salicylic acid. That’s old advice. Many derms now agree that as long as the BHA is under 2% you’re fine. Instead you should have warned about hydroquinone and Alpha albutrin. And there was also no mention of bakuchiol, which is a godsend for those of us avoiding retinoids. This video was quite lacking.
