You guys….. that‘s Bryan Ferry, a real legend !! I’m deeply in love with him for about 40 years. His entire work, his style, his beauty and his voice are simply stunning. Nothing compares until today….. ❤
Roxy Music's "Avalon" is one of the precious few perfect albums ever recorded... not one superfluous note, not one wasted beat, not one poor production choice. From start to finish, it's a masterpiece.
@@arsenalmanic After "Avalon" (and Roxy Music's subsequent break-up), Bryan Ferry released his "Boys snd Girls" album. "Boys and Girls" was, in certain respects, like a continuation from "Avalon" (in terms of songwriting and immaculate production). It featured an all-star band (David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler alternated on lead guitar) and an even more radio-friendly set than "Avalon." The song, "Slave to Love," was a hit featured in the Mickey Rourke-Kim Bagginger film "9 1/2 Weeks," but it was only one of many brilliant songs from the "Boys and Girls" album. Like with "Avalon," that album is a start to finish classic... there are no tracks on the album that aren't brilliant.
The Space Between, To Turn You On, Take a Chance With Me, While My Heart Is Still Beating...the whole album is worth a listen. Mucho ❤️ Be Safe & Blessings ❣️ ❤️🎶❤️🙌☮️🙌❤️🎶❤️
Love is the Drug, is a good hit for them to do. But favorite song? Always has been Mother of Pearl. The lyrics just blew me away. And I didn't understand a lot the references.
@@greegm3304 " Whenever the Greatest UK Bands of all time are mentioned and polls are done why Roxy music aren't listed is beyond me it's why i mean underrated
Saw them perform this live at Granby Halls in Leicester (uk) in 81. It was one of the first times they'd performed it and they announced that it would be their next single. It was a brilliant concert.
Roxy Music has a very deep catalogue of songs my favorite is a song off the first album they did called " If There is Something" and it is one of the most brilliant and unusual pieces of music I have ever heard you should try reacting to that.
Released about a week after John Lennon’s murder; originally titled “Jealous Guy- a Tribute”. The “tribute “ part was dropped as they didn’t want to be seen to be exploiting the circumstances. Worthwhile checking out Lennon’s (autobiographical) original. Fantastic sax work by Andy Mackay on this version . Whistling on recording is by Vic Reeves.
Whistling on the recording is by Bryan Ferry and Paul Carrack, not Vic Reeves -- who was an unknown 22 year old in 1981, with his career not taking off until around 5 years after this was released.
Roxy Music - a very under-recognized band. Lots of talent. Phil Manzanera on guitar (now plays with Gilmour). Lots of good stuff. "More than This, Slave to Love..." and lots more.
also Paul Thompson on drums, and Andy MacKay sax and oboe (Rock and Roll Oboe!!) and don't forget the early albums with Brian Eno. Very under appreciated band.
Brilliant reaction. Bad Shawn, naughty step now!🤣. Wow, never thought this track could really hit hard to a new generation. Give Roxy Music another go. Angel Eyes is a terrific one to listen to.
Roxy Music is a veritable gold mine of incredibly beautiful compositions and arrangements. Some GREAT songs to check out.... Avalon Same Old Scene Both Ends Burning A good solo by Bryan Ferry (lead singer) Boys And Girls
So cool seeing your reaction guys. I live in the UK and have seen Bryan Ferry perform this live on stage as a VIP guest up close from a few feet away three times now and it's astonishing to see him perform it live. He always performs Jealous Guy towards the end of his play list on stage as it's a staple favourite with both Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry fans. He is dripping with sweat when he performs it usually. After the third time I saw Bryan perform live I got to meet him briely back stage for a chat. He'd only been off stage 30 minutes at the end of the show but came out the back to meet me and was no longer dripping in sweat and had changed his outfit and had his hair styled! He is the coolest most swarve person in the business. Always immaculate impeccible clothing and effortless style. He was voted the sexiest guy in Britain.
Loved doing this one 👏 ❤️ 👌 😍 Great John Lennon song. 😘👍🎶❤️ Great version. Great reaction. Thanks guys. Have a brilliant day and another tomorrow and etc. etc.
Hi Shawn and Mel! Hope you are having a wonderful day. Love the new picture wall, look at that silver UA-cam plaque front and center! You guys are doing a great job over 100,000 subscribers!! Really nice song, I have never heard it before. I loved his voice and the saxophone solo! So smooth. Would love to hear more. Have a great day!
Recorded very soon after the death of John Lennon as a tribute to him (Lennon wrote it for his 1971 Imagine album). This was originally titled 'Child of Nature' and was written by Lennon in India and intended for their 'White Album', though never recorded properly.
Check out early Roxy Music - Ladytron. From back when Brian Eno was in the band. The Old Grey Whistle Live video. Another great song by them are Out Of The Blue. Super Violin Solo
Roxy Music had quite a few hits under their belt. This one, obviously (1981) "Virginia Plain" (1972) "Love Is The Drug" (1975) "Dance Away" (1979)"Angel Eyes" (1979) "Avalon" (1982) "More Than This" (1982) Happy listening 🎶 💖💯🔥🇬🇧
Another great cover by Roxy Music is "Like a Hurricane". It was written by Neil Young. P!ease react to the live concert version by Roxy Music. It is the one with the 2 black ladies singing in the background with their dresses being blown up like they are in a hurricane. That is the best version.
It is a truly beautiful song. Written by the late John Lennon as a tribute when he died. They were an amazing innovative band in the 1970's but Bryan Ferry always had that James Bond cool vibe.
So many great tracks from Roxy Music- Take a listen to, 'Love is the Drug' 'Virginia Plain' 'Avalon' 'Street life' 'Pyjamarama' 'To Turn you on' for an idea of how diverse they are. (good to see you back by the way)
listen to his song "slave to love" (Bryan Ferry from Roxy music). It's so lush & sensual. What a voice! You will love it. The vocal's are on a different level to this.
A bit of trivia about how this song came about... The song was originally recorded by John Lennon as an apology to his wife Yoko Ono for cheating on her. In 1980 when John Lennon was shot dead in New York, Roxy Music was on tour in Europe and they heard the news of Lennon's death in Germany and did an inpromptu cover of Jealous Guy as a tribute to Lennon. The song was never meant to be a released as a studio single but fans loved it so much on stage and Roxy continued doing it in France and elsewhere that the decision was made to release it as a single the following year. It went to no1 in several countries and was Roxy Music's only no1 hit. It also appeared on their final album, Avalon in 1982.
I've loved their music since the late 70''s. They do many styles of music from soft and mellow to punk. I think you'd both like the song Avalon. The version with Bryan and a Falcon on the thumbnail that is 4:13 in length, has the band in a beautiful mansion. He meets a beautiful woman at a party and they dance' They both look very elegant and I like her solo dance at the end. His band mates have strange expressions on their faces that could be interpreted that they are serial killers haha that was my first impression anyway. But I guess from what I got from other comments is that it is them perhaps warning Bryan that his new infatuation will not work out.

John Lennon wrote this for his wife Yoko Ono. He adored her and he wrote several amazingly vulnerable songs about love
But his lost weekend...
Still a wife beater though
For people under 40, Lennon was a member of a band called the Beatles.
The best cover of any song ever , absolutely pitch perfect , note for note superb , great singer great musicians.
