    Qigong for Weight Loss
    Qigong, as a branch of TCM focuses on bringing back balance to the body and treating the root cause of a problem by promoting the smooth flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. Combining Qigong with other exercise and healthy eating can have tremendous results in your effort to lose weight.
    Below are some of my recommendations for Qigong methods to help you lose weight. There are lots more in the Space To Relax Online Programme but what is important is that you practice regularly, exercise regularly and eat healthily. CONSISTENCY is the key!
    1. Develop a Morning Routine. This is the best way, I find, to be consistent. Set yourself up for the day with 5-10 minutes of Qigong. Following along with my Qigong routine here: spacetorelax.com/morning-qigo...
    2. Get Rid Of Toxic Build Up In Your Body. Often we put on weight because toxins accumulate in our bodies which make us feel sluggish and less likely to exercise. Also, excess weight can be a result of excess fluid accumulating in the body if the lymphatic system is not draining and moving fluids around in a healthy way.

    3. Emotional Factors Affecting Weight Gain. As many of you may know emotions can play a significant role in weight gain because we can resort to "emotional eating" in response to stresses from family and work. Refer to my previous videos if you feel that emotional factors contribute to your situation.

    Other Tips To Help You Lose Weight
    1. Acupuncture helps a person lose body fat by reducing appetite and thus reducing the calorie consumption by the body. On the other hand, it increases the metabolic rate of the body and aids in burning more calories. Acupuncture can also help to address any emotional factors involved.
    2. Consult a Health Coach. If you want to find someone to help keep you motivated and on track the you may want to consider seeking out a health coach who can help you with dietary and exercise advice.     Do you have any recommendations for hives and runners itch? I have a histamime outbreak whenever attempting to exercise.

    In US the sources of our food are often a culprit in weight gain due to GMO foods, additives, etc. We can eat same as our parents but it’s not as nutritious. Baby boomers smoked drank rarely exercised but didn’t have the obesity problems we have now !!! Need to eat as much organic if possible. Dows the food in Ireland here additives. Is it GMO modified? Thx for your videos

      Hi Anne, Thank you for taking the time to comment. You are correct in what you say. Our food has changed over the years and is no longer of the same quality and contains more additives and preservatives. We don't have GMO to the same extent that you have in the US although it is present. A good guideline if it is practical and affordable is to eat locally produced, organic foods from small producers and cook from scratch - nothing from packets or ready prepared. It's not always possible but if you keep that in mind and can manage it most of the time then that's great! :-)

      Hi John, Without having more details and being able to do a full diagnosis in terms of Chinese medicine, it's not easy to advise you. I'm guessing you have worked with exercise and a healthy food plan together? My best advice would be to seek out a Chinese medicine/acupuncture practitioner in your area or a really good health coach who can help you as the reasons for finding difficulty in ridding weight are varied. My advice above is very general but the beauty of Qigong and Chinese medicine is that it can be tailored to the individual as long as the practitioner has the opportunity to do a full diagnosis for that person.

      It depends on what the cause is Rakhi. Best to get a diagnosis from your doctor as if someone is underweight that needs to be investigated. If it is due to malabsorption by the digestive system then any of the spleen or stomach related Qigong exercises which you will find on my channel will be of help in optimising the function of the digestive system so that it can absorb nutrients better.       Hi Alice, The purpose of this video was not to show one exercise as there are many which can help with weight loss. My aim was to help you all by pointing you in the right direction of the numerous Qigong videos showing exercises to help with weight loss (see links in the description below the video) but also give a more rounded perspective on how Traditional Chinese Medicine approaches the issue of weight loss with a few extra tips which are not strictly Qigong.     I rarely 'dislike' a video.
    This is one of them.
    The title "Qigong for Weight Loss" is completely misleading.
    No exercises, pressure points, etc. are demonstrated.
    Nothing.
    How someone can prattle on for almost 12 minutes about absolutely nothing beats me.

      When the title states "Qigong for Weight Loss", I'm led to expect some specific Qigong forms leading to weight loss.
      B.T.W., I have been practicing Qigong and Tai Chi Quan for over 30 years.
