Thank you so much! I absolutely agree... What i learned: Everybody want´s to be close to the pastor, but nobody want´s to have a deep friendship with him.
Sir, I have been a pastor for 49 years. I have just retired. Your video is wonderful. Every beginning pastor needs to watch this and then spend time meditating on each of these points. Thank you for the video.
Bro, this is so good! You need to make this into a 20-chapter book and build out these concepts. This should be required reading/viewing for every ministry student. Keep it up, man!
I have been running and hiding from a call to minister for a couple years now, just for these main reasons. Always have been thinking there is no way I'm getting up there. I got a confirmation a few months ago and started studying again when I came across this. The attacks my family and I have already received I take as the devil trying to scare me away again. NO MORE! I will persevere, and get this breakthrough on the other side.
I have been running away from God for years till recently. My mother has stage 4 breast cancer and it is in this hard season that I started seeking him arnd I felt hopeless.Seeking him made me feel find purpose in his calling over my life.I have responded to his call and my is now fulfilling.
PTL for making it 20 years! This is my 20th year also. By the grace of God I have been bless that it's all in one church. I would add one thing...Church planting should be #2 on the list. Most difficult thing I have ever done and that's saying a lot. Joined the US Army out of High School and served 10 years. I got out and started a new telecom business and ran that for 13 years. I thought planting a church would be a piece of cake compared to what I had already been through. Oh how wrong I was... By the grace of God alone, I'm still serving as the Senior Pastor of the church we planted years ago. God is always good, faithful and His mercy endures forever.
I love God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. And I love others. I want to spread the love of God to others. And God will teach me to be a leader. Call me at 3AM . I choose God first then my family
@@MichaelSmith-cz4go Yes, choose God over family. But not ministry over family. If you'll choose ministry over family then don't even get married, be as Paul was.
I'm 32 years old and just now coming into a place of acceptance of the call to ministry on my life. It is a terrifying thought to be held accountable for the souls of an entire group of people. Thank you for being so brutally honest and transparent about the struggles that only a pastor could know. Blessings my brother.
1. 0:47 - It will be the hardest thing you ever do 2. 1:11 - integrity and love for Christ will not be enough 3. 1:30 - people will avoid you and act weird simply because you are a pastor 4. 1:55 - people will expect you to be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week 5. 2:18 - workaholism will be rewarded but it will destroy your family 6. 2:36 - When people stop attending your church it’s going to hurt 7. 2:51 - you’ll have to fight the urge to compare you ministry to other churches 8. 3:10 - attacks from inside your church will be worse than those from the outside 9. 3:26 - you will not be discipled unless you go seek it out for yourself 10. 3:47 - you’ll have to fight pessimism bitterness and even depression 11. 4:04 - your success in the eyes of others will be measured by how many people you can get into a room 12. 4:24 - you’ll never be good enough 13. 4:47 - your family will be profoundly affected either good or bad 14. 5:05 - without a seminary degree you’ll be considered less qualified 15.. 5:31 - money is going to be a problem 16. 6:03 - you will likely move many times 17. 625 - when you have to leave a church, you’re going to leave a lot of friends behind too 18. 6:47 - spiritual warfare is real 19. 7:22 - you will be discouraged and think about quitting often 20. 7:45 - it will all be worth it A side note: This is from a pastor that has ministered in the 21st century American context. Pastoring in different region (e.g. the middle East) can be quite different and some of these may not apply. Numbers like 7, 11, 14
I was called to the ministry years ago and got scared because I didn’t know God or even who I was. I stepped up and turned my life over to Christ and am now attending Southern Evangelical Seminary. I am on the road that God called me to be on and though I am not worthy, I am on that road and I am blessed to be here. Thank you for this video. God Bless!
I'm in the seminary pursuing an MDiv, but I am not following the "plant a church" paradigm. Instead, I have designating myself a "field pastor." As a field pastor, I do not pastor a church group specifically, work at, or even attend a church. Instead, I work independently with homeless drug addicts. When people tell me I'll never pastor a church, I laugh and tell them "the world is my church." I agree with the majority of your comments, particularly #3. Even pastors need pastors...if you ever want to talk, you have my name. Grace and peace...keep fighting the good fight!
Good word. I would however strongly encourage and implore you to be a member in a local congregation. We all need oversight and discipline and community within the local body
James, I was introduced to a congregation once when I was Youth Pastor and the Pastor introducing me said " I wasn't a real pastor". I never forgot how that made me feel. I am still in the ministry. Stay strong!
James, I want to talk to you. I feel I am called to travel to desaster area and use my architecture background to help. I also want to become a pastor to help in in these areas. I have no family and I am not bound to one area. Please reach out.
I used to think being a pastor was wearing a suit and tie and giving a 5 point sermon and praying for people than going home. But the way I see it, it's about Experiencing God and The Divine and leading others to Experience that same Experience with God and teaching them these insights and Truths and helping others to connect to I AM WHO I AM!. I've encountered God and learned many things and I want to lead others to that Encounter with The Divine. God has given us The Ministry of Reconciliation and we want to help others Experience that same Oneness. I'm called to preach but the way I see being a pastor is way way different than how most view it.
@Pro Preacher, I’m pursuing ministry after running from it, then needing to gain maturity after a year of seminary. I’m already getting tested, but I’m persevering, because this is what God called and continues to call me to do. Thanks for giving me an idea of what I’m getting myself into, and please pray for me.
I got called into ministry 10 years ago and I ran for my life, I saw what pastors go through in local churchs and I didn't want any of that. Last year God closed all the doors of employment, I couldn't earn a living and at a conference God called me again. This time without giving me a choice. I am still afraid and this seems like such a lonely road. Videos like this prepare people. Keep up the good work
Hi Jonathan, this is what I wish Someone told me before starting also: get rid of your doubts and know that the God that called us is faithful to sustain us before, during, and after trial periods. You will rise above pressure, negativity and darkness. Aspire to Become a man “of the Presence of God”, not just a preacher. You are not just called, you are equipped and anointed. The church is full and tired of dry bones, empty preachers that have no power, don’t become like them, seek a relationship in the depths of The Spirit of God. Seek wisdom everyday. God will open up the eyes of your understanding in ways you can’t even imagine or think possible. Don’t neglect the supernatural, be ON FIRE for God, administer money, time, and your other resources well. Seek to be a part of a network of powerful intercessors, and look for a good prophetic and apostolic ministry to be connected with even if there is a small (honor $) amount to pay every month, it will be worth it as the revelation and the anointing you will tap into will create a powerful atmosphere. My wife and I are going to plant a church next year, and it has been a process also, but let’s have faith in God and in the abilities He placed within us. We can do this through Him and for Him.
@@billyjoebrewerIII I am currently studying theology and working part time to pay for it. I serve in the youth ministry and evangelise with a few guys on the weekend at my church. Has it gotten easier? No!!! But all the pastor's I have spoken to have told me that if it's easy then this is not for you. If it's hard then you know you are on the right track
Awesome video - we need to hear this - am 39 all I want now is to live my life 100% for God ….. these past 39 years I’ve been my own God and am super tired of that - I’m also an ex Jehovah Witness who is finding God now - everything you mentioned in this video am saying amen 🙏- tks for keeping it real
Thank you for the great advice, I’m not a pastor but I’m seriously considering taking that leap of faith especially now with everything going on and so many lost people, nothing would give me greater joy than to bring the lost to Christ, sow seeds and God does the rest, I know it’s easier said than done. God bless pray for me and everyone who wants to sincerely serve God till the end. ✝️🙏🏽❤️
Back again . Still Senior co pastors with my husband. This 20 things is all true Pray for your pastors. Pastors have close friends outside your church. People .. your pastors probably are struggling with depression and financially . Support them . We really do love you . We really do understand that we are accountable to God for what we say and do in your life. We gave up all we had to take a church God called us to. Moved 2500 miles, left parents who are aging , children who are marrying and starting their families, sold our home we just bought.. Not for $$$ but t answer the call. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done : it’s also the most rewarding thing I have ever done. People are hard . I pray for His love for His church.warfare is real. Your marriage will constantly come second to others. But it’s beautiful. It’s not for the carnal. You won’t make it with a prayer life, fasting and in the Word! Pray for your pastor. If you appreciate them let them know. Help them out. Volunteering
God bless you Sir. 🙏🏻✝️. I just prayed for you by name. May the Holy Spirit remove your demons now in the name of Jesus Christ. Here are some thoughts that may or may not help: If the problem is others: Life is so hard that the only reasonable response is compassion. I dont always see that and respond that way, but I believe it and that helps. When people criticize me, it is so hard to see them as suffering, but they probably are if they are criticizing. And I remember in the past when I was suffering and critical of others: I tried so hard to seem totally together and strong and not let them see that I was suffering. But I was. If the problem is with yourself: Are you getting enough vitmain D? Our ancestors whether hunter/gatherer or farmer spent loads of time in the sun. Nearly everyone is low. The reference ranges used by doctors are too low. I know this from my work. I hope youre not taking statins. Magnesium helps most people too (one or two percent of people dont need any more magnesium at all but most do). Care to share more about whats up? If those comments dont help ignore them; Im sure my prayers will.
Wow! I was in tears! I have just started a year ago! This is a great encouragement. May be one of the part of agony you needed to address also is the agony of Sunday afternoon, where you chew on the message you deliver. Very painful when you wish you did it better or you wish you had better time of preparation 😢. Thanks brother
Hlokomani Khondlo, it's been my personal observation that pastors' kids are often under special pressures and sometimes tend to rebel-especially against their father-and so I wonder if you could respond and give some advice to the CHILDREN of pastors for what they will face? Of course, some PKs grow up with a strong faith in the Lord and then live dedicated lives serving Christ as adults as well. What especially concerns me is the PKs who turn away from the faith, often as a way of rebelling against their family and their Christian upbringing. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may care to share.
@@ChipsAplentyBand what a loaded question, thanks for taking the time to ask. I’m definitely not an expert but I will share what I’ve learned being a PK. Firstly you’ll feel some pressure to perform or serve, inside and outside the church. Outside the church you’ll always be labeled as the pastors kid and never yourself. Inside the church there will always be this spotlight on you, whether you like it or not. This may lead to problems with individual identity. Another thing I’ve noticed is the tendency for PKs to kind of lay back when it comes to their spiritual life. They think since daddy is a pastor and all, we’re sorted...neglecting the personal relationship to be formed with Christ (and therefore The Father). For me these are the main things. It’s very important to be able to step out of your fathers shadow, I’m still struggling with that. Yeah I hope these were helpful, sorry if the English is not perfect. English is not my 1st language
@@hlokomani Thank you so much for spending your time to answer my inquiry, and for sharing your experience and observations. They are of great value to me and I appreciate your willingness to help out a stranger who asked. By the way, your English is better than that of some native speakers! Please let me encourage you there. All of us, I think, step out of our father's shadow-and I'm not a PK myself-no later than when dad dies, but I do know of at least one pastor's kid who really didn't want much to do with his dad and kind of played along with church 'reluctantly' as a young man. His name is Paul and I still pray for him now, and for a sister and brother of his, since they (all) surely know the gospel from their family and church background but as bright and capable people like both of their parents, they prefer to not be 'told' what to believe, or think, or do. The problem that both parents/pastors face is that they are also teachers, and not just authority figures, for their kids, who sometimes fail to distinguish dad's or mom's discipline as a parent from their instruction, which is really intended to help their children know in advance how to live life as adults and get along on their own without being victimized (too often or too severely). I'm pretty 'slow' in that department myself, unfortunately. Of course, once kids become adults and have children of their own and then go through as parents themselves what THEIR parents went through with them, then their perspective tends to change and broaden, etc. I think there's an old saying that goes something like this: 'Men who hated their fathers in their youth build monuments to them after they are dead' and that's probably too often true, plus it is sad because this life is so very short. However large or long your own father's 'shadow' is, God-of course!-loves you as an individual for who YOU are, and wants you in His family in terms of who you are and where your own heart is at. Whatever your interests, talents, resources, and opportunities, God had YOUR life planned for YOU from eternity too. We're to honor our parents, but the 'challenge' of choosing to love and serve God for who He is remains personal, ours alone, as we plow through the character test that we call 'life.' I've never regretted making that choice myself, having done so as a junior in high school, and though I'm now age 64. (Gasp! When did THAT happen???!! As former Beatle George Harrison once observed: "Forty years goes by just like THAT!" ) Thanks again, Hokomani. If I could leave you with a 'parting gift' it would be a couple of excellent Christian apologetics websites. These detail the very abundant objective evidence for the Bible being the Word of God as it claims to be, which I think is a vital undergirding of our faith, which is not blind faith at all. Robert Newman, whose apologetics material appears on the IBRI website, is a personal friend. May God bless and keep you wherever you are!-Don in Indiana, USA www.reasons.org www.ibri.org
I Thank God for leading me to this video. I am about to become a pastor. This is encouraging. I think I will watch it again when I feel these things thinking "yeah, I knew this would come. The only hope is Jesus." Thanks for the last words
Really went through a deep season of doubt and depression for about a year and a half. Been battling with a sense of shame and inadequacy as a pastor (but have been shepherding my heart to trust in Christ over myself!) Hearing you share about those struggles encourages me, it helps me know I am not the only one! thank you for sharing this.
christina...don't worry...god got your back...don't forget that you are an individual. you got a ministry too. if god is calling ur husband to pastor, he is calling you too. just as those people are his, they are urs too...you are responsible for those soul...make disciples...keep that in mine...how are u going to do ur part...if you do ur part...you will be fine...but if u just do nothing...it's going to be hard...with that..you will need to live a fasted life...even right now...pray for the people u are called too...if you keep them in mind...you won't live with regrets...if satan fights you...it will be the right fight..because he is fighting you to stop u from doing the will of god...so don't worry...god really got you...all the way...even when it dont fell like he don't got...he does...in those season...reference to when he brought you out or fought your battle...he is going to do the same...it's going to be hard sometimes..but you will get thru...there are going to be days where you feel empty....those are the days, god is saying, he got more for u...in that day...bless god becasue change is about to come for you...so pray until you get a break thru...don't forget to think about yourself...don't neglect ur self for ministry...it is not god will...what do i mean...refresh ur self...set boundaries in the beginning with the members...they won't have unnatural expectation...let people know where you stand...this is done in prayer...ask god to help you set the right boundaries...but pray always...if you are prayed up...it will set a sheild or a force field aroiund you...satan can't penatrate prayer...he can't penetrate faith, righteousness, salvation, truth, sword of the spirit....be blessed...this is a great work you are being called into...love and lead god's people...i'm so believe in you...
As a pastor myself, I completely agree with all you have said. What one piece of advice would I give to any other pastor or aspiring pastor? You have an audience of ONE. It will be impossible to please everyone, so focus instead on pleasing the only One who really matters--God. Hearing "Well done good and faithful servant" from Him means more than all the pats on the back people might have for you.
One of the things you just said was really encouraging me on what kind of conversation I’m gonna have with my pastors. I don’t have mentors in my life and I’m gonna talk to them about mentoring me into leader ship because that’s really what I need. Some of the things that you’ve expressed are things I’ve already learned personally. I’m not a pastor currently right now but I am gonna try to talk to my pastor about pursuing seminary and then being mentor throughout seminary.
Brother, I praise God for you and your videos. As a Bible study leader and follower of Christ, I have been repeatedly attacked by tbe enemy in ways that only someone in ministry could understand. Thank you for sharing these 20 points. May God bless, protect, and strengthen you in all of your days.
As a veteran pastor, all 20 things mention are accurate. Seminary or Bible college of some kind is important to make sure you know how to interpret Scripture properly. I have been blessed with a long tenure at my current church, but there have been really tough times. A pastor needs to be sure he is called, because he will need to trust the calling when times are tough.
This was pretty emotional for me to watch I stopped pursuing ministry positions after my first church I was treated so badly and it scared me. I think I am healing now and found your channel I have been so blessed watching them.
Hi!, My name is JERRY and I want to say a billion thanks for uploading this truth and information. I have not even mounted a pulpit yet but I saw myself in a battle with people I thought were willing to mentor me but was my enemies from the word go!, I nearly committed suicide but I am very grateful that CHRIST JESUS paved a way for me to still be alive. Once again, a billion THANKS!
I’ve been in ministry 39 years. I agree with these completely. I would add that ministry will usually separate you from your family home ties. I have no family in close proximity geographically. Holidays are lonely because parishioners have family gatherings (Christmas, Easter, etc.) but my family cannot leave town and spend time with extended family. Few people understand this. Even my extended family; even after all these years!
Im active duty in the navy and got a calling to ministry and this video really put it in perspective for me. Im really glad, ive done some difficult things in my life and have always come out the otherside a better man. Thank you for the video.
This was so dope! I love the insight and vulnerability! To come across this now is so timely! I will be live streaming an interview with a local pastor who has just planted a church within the last year or so. Having this insight going into next Thursday's convo is priceless! Appreciate you!
I recently became an ordained Minister, I was raised Methodist and thought I would become a Methodist Minister. I found out that I would have to move about every 3 years! So I went somewhere else and became ordained and left the UMC, so I could preach in my own home town.!
Thanks for this brother, I remember watching this when I was in my junior year of High school, now I'm married and in my senior year of Bible College doing my BA in Pastoral Studies. My wife and I are planning to go to Seminary after this, I'll be pursing the Pastoral route and she'll be pursing the teaching route. I can't tell you how helpful this advice has been and how true these things are.
If you're called,to pastor Trust God don't trust men. God believe me this video is not of God think about it. would God discourage you No... Your entering ministry God help God's people.. Please pray this person..I rebuke this in the mighty name of Jesus
@Takoshi Zuko Pilots are very low paid in the begging of career in the usa it's very well paid if you manage to get a job in the major airlines but that is very hard to get and many never get those jobs
This is good info to share...especially number 18. In ministry 20+years but not pastoring...this works for ministry in any capacity. Thank you! God bless.
Thank you! I’m working toward answering what I believe is a call to ministry. This is a mid life shift for us and this video told me it’s the right shift.
Thank you for this video. As a son of a pastor I can relate to all you've said, it's true! I wanted to become a policeman but I fear god wants me as a pastor. I never wanted it because I saw every of your arguments heavily in my father and my family. But number 20 made me cry instantly. God bless you brother
This is brilliant. Very insightful and very true. I'd add 3 additional things: 1. Temptation is real and serious, and too many pastors fall prey to it - temptations to pride, unscriptural sex and the love of money must be battled. 2. Politics - too many pastors and members today, certainly in the US, toss their Bibles aside on election day and instead vote down the line for the secular political party they like most. They ignore or even justify or even agree with that party's wrongs or corrupt leaders in order to get the perceived benefits of the parts of their platform that they support. Pastors should avoid this sin, yet many, maybe most, fall prey to it too. 3. Just like we can be judged if we don't have a seminary degree, we should also be willing to listen to those who don't have them - they can often teach us a lot.
Wow so good!! I am scared, terrified…32 years old have been in ministry for over a decade and I will now be transitioning to become the senior Pastor of a church that has been established for 50 years…thank you for this!!
Wow thanks so much, I was given a prophetic word about being a minister of the word. And I know that's exactly what I am supposed to do but having grown in church all that you have said I have seen them and I have always been scared to do it even when I get dreams preaching. Bse I know it's really hard being a minister. I have plans running to go to Dubai and work even when I asked God about my going there he told me to preach but the challenges of being a man of God only requires God to help out
Great observations, brother, thank you! My takeaway is point no. 20 and I pray every minister remembers and draws motivation from it, especially when things get tough. Praying for you all.
Hello Sir, I am preparing for this vocation with all of my might. The pointers that you gave were a good reminder of the pressures and trials to come. Thank you for this act of service via the video. May the Lord bless you abundantly and encourage you often. In Christ, will
You were absolutely correct. Another thought to consider is time constraints. There is always another sermon to prepare, a funeral to preach, etc. Good job on your shared information.
Thanks for this video. I study theology and begin my call but I don't have a mentor to rely on. This help a lot. I don't have anyone to talk about it. 🙁
Finally, a brother spelling out the realities of becoming a pastor. I've known this through being friends with Pastors and chaplains, definitely need to test your call.
Just starting in ministry at 24 with a start up church! Glad I stumbled on this video. As advised by the comments I will rewatch and make notes of each point
Thanks Sister for your zealing. Just dont forget, please dont preach to man. I am working on construction almost my hole life, there you have a conservative element, and you dont survive by spirtual counseling of a preaching woman, moreover do you consider what the Bible is teaching in that matter? Women are many times stronger in the Lord than man, that is out of question. But obedient to the Lord? God bless!
very accurate video indeed ..am in my early years of ministry am struggling with most of those things. when i started off i thought everything was just going to flow. i can really relate with this video thank you so much..
Thank you so much for posting this video!! As a 20 year old who's being called to ministry, this will help me prepare for it!! Thank you and God Bless You ❤
Brother thanks for the epic advice! I'm getting my MDiv now and this video really helped put things in the right perspective. Thanks so much for the dose of realism and that big statement of encouragement at the end!
I am so blessed by this Message .Thank you pastor . It Will be whorth it , when you see families in harmony, broken marriages mended , prodigal son / daughter return home , divine healing and break -throughs keep on preaching ,don't Give up. Thank you so much man of God God bless You reachly in Jesus name Amen 👍 sir
I believe God called me to preach at the age of 12, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour (saved and baptized) 48 days before my 12 birthday! I have not gone into the ministry yet because of fear, I ran from it because of that nothing more. I fear of failing God by missing the proverbial ”mark”. I am 45 now and I have recently started seeking Jesus with that child like zeal I once had when I first met him on the river bank! I request your prayers that I will receive my spiritual breakthrough and I desire to fast over this dilemma. Thank you!
This list is good, this is what I wish Someone told me before starting also: get rid of your doubts and know that the God that called us is faithful to sustain us before, during, and after trial periods. Your secret worship life determines more than you think in the tangible world. Never neglect prayer, fasting, praise, worship and spend time in the Word as God will reward you publicly (ministry). Material manifestation will come as a result of spiritual disciplines, not just the good ideas of man. One testimony of Gods power touching someone at your church can change the trajectory of your life in ministry. Seminary and knowledge is important, but knowledge and degrees can never replace the work, freshness and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Seeker friendly messages will betray you. Preach the whole gospel even the harder parts that don’t seem to “fit” our culture. God is not embarrassed by anything He said. Seek wisdom everyday. God will open up the eyes of your understanding in ways you can’t even imagine or think possible. Don’t neglect the supernatural, be ON FIRE for God, administer money, time, and your other resources well. Seek to be a part of a network of powerful intercessors, it will be worth it as the revelation and the anointing you will tap into will create a powerful atmosphere. The Presence of God will sustain you were nothing else will. Your wife can build you up in a powerful way, PRAY FOR HER DAILY. Listen to her concerns, God will whisper (or loudly talk to you) His counsel through her much more than we are told, or are willing to admit at first. She also has your back and is a trusted voice and your number one supporter. She is just as important as you are for doing the ministry. Don’t fight this, embrace her.
I’m 22, just turned, it’s been on my heart and I have been ignoring the lord (shame on me) I never ever imagined leading a church service. I know it’s hard. But my faith in God is stronger than the doubt I have in myself.
Thanks for your video, I didn't get the point of moving. As I grew up and also the churches I know usually Pastors be Pastors for long time without having in mind moving somewhere else. Im writing from south Germany, maybe its different in the US. God Bless you Pastor.
Hard word. I feel the call within me (I know I could be wrong), I have a gift of teaching and people see me as an authority within the church. But I am also a qualified psychologist and it is not bad for me, I have clients and I earn money, but this time I feel the call very strong. But I watch this video and I don't know if I am willing to pay the price of being a Pastor. So sad
All thanks, praise, glory, honour and The Kingdom be to Jesus, forever and ever, Amen ! Wonderfull video, just superb, thank you, liked, subscribed, tapped on the notification bell, saved the video.

Thank you so much! I absolutely agree... What i learned: Everybody want´s to be close to the pastor, but nobody want´s to have a deep friendship with him.
True
Sir, I have been a pastor for 49 years. I have just retired. Your video is wonderful. Every beginning pastor needs to watch this and then spend time meditating on each of these points. Thank you for the video.
Bro, this is so good! You need to make this into a 20-chapter book and build out these concepts. This should be required reading/viewing for every ministry student. Keep it up, man!
Thanks! I've actually considered doing that. I may just have to add that to my list of projects I want to do.

😂😂😂 you're not alone buddy. Those who are really called always run in the beginning, but a time comes you realize you can't run from God and submit 🙏
@helmutslad indeed I felt it right now to submit and never run anymore I'm so tired and restless. 😢
As a 20 year pastoral ministry veteran, I can say every one of these is true. Great video. Packed with truth. Needs to be talked about.
Awesome video esp. #18 I wish someone had told me just how real.Just look at the rioting and pandemic.God bless you & your family.

#21 It will be difficult to find friends you can trust and want to walk closely with Lord like you because they are so rare.
PC N that’s not just pastors haha!
I love God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. And I love others. I want to spread the love of God to others. And God will teach me to be a leader. Call me at 3AM . I choose God first then my family

I'm 32 years old and just now coming into a place of acceptance of the call to ministry on my life. It is a terrifying thought to be held accountable for the souls of an entire group of people. Thank you for being so brutally honest and transparent about the struggles that only a pastor could know. Blessings my brother.
1. 0:47 - It will be the hardest thing you ever do

11. 4:04 - your success in the eyes of others will be measured by how many people you can get into a room
12. 4:24 - you’ll never be good enough
13. 4:47 - your family will be profoundly affected either good or bad
14. 5:05 - without a seminary degree you’ll be considered less qualified
15.. 5:31 - money is going to be a problem
16. 6:03 - you will likely move many times
17. 625 - when you have to leave a church, you’re going to leave a lot of friends behind too
18. 6:47 - spiritual warfare is real
19. 7:22 - you will be discouraged and think about quitting often
20. 7:45 - it will all be worth it
A side note: This is from a pastor that has ministered in the 21st century American context.

Hey brother. I am considering doing something similar. I'd love to connect with you. Email me at artyhoffman@gmail.com if you get a chance
That sounds Like an incredible opportunity to show people just what you do! Ever tried to video these experiences?
I used to think being a pastor was wearing a suit and tie and giving a 5 point sermon and praying for people than going home. But the way I see it, it's about Experiencing God and The Divine and leading others to Experience that same Experience with God and teaching them these insights and Truths and helping others to connect to I AM WHO I AM!. I've encountered God and learned many things and I want to lead others to that Encounter with The Divine. God has given us The Ministry of Reconciliation and we want to help others Experience that same Oneness. I'm called to preach but the way I see being a pastor is way way different than how most view it.
31) People will criticise your grammar and level of understanding and interpretation of the Scriptures
This one is news to me but Im Catholic. Most priests in the US have 2 or 3 post graduate degrees. You can’t get ordained without them.
Thank you for this brother! God Bless You More
@Pro Preacher, I’m pursuing ministry after running from it, then needing to gain maturity after a year of seminary. I’m already getting tested, but I’m persevering, because this is what God called and continues to call me to do. Thanks for giving me an idea of what I’m getting myself into, and please pray for me.
28) People will talk about you maliciously behind your back including the ones who smile at you in your presence.
Pastors do that too. It also pretty much goes for everyone you meet or work with, not just pastors. Everyone has a sinful nature.
Keep up the good work
Hi Jonathan, this is what I wish Someone told me before starting also:
get rid of your doubts and know that the God that called us is faithful to sustain us before, during, and after trial periods.
I'm thinking of becoming one as well you build your kingdom with God. I ran as well brother.

Here are some thoughts that may or may not help:
If the problem is others: Life is so hard that the only reasonable response is compassion.
Praying that today is better than the day you posted this. God bless you.

I’m a pastors kid. Both my parents preach, for over 20 years. These are sooo true.
We're to honor our parents, but the 'challenge' of choosing to love and serve God for who He is remains personal, ours alone, as we plow through the character test that we call 'life.'
I've never regretted making that choice myself, having done so as a junior in high school, and though I'm now age 64. (Gasp! When did THAT happen???!! As former Beatle George Harrison once observed: "Forty years goes by just like THAT!" )
Thanks again, Hokomani.
May God bless and keep you wherever you are!-Don in Indiana, USA

Well said brother

I’ve been in ministry 39 years. I agree with these completely. I would add that ministry will usually separate you from your family home ties. I have no family in close proximity geographically. Holidays are lonely because parishioners have family gatherings (Christmas, Easter, etc.) but my family cannot leave town and spend time with extended family. Few people understand this. Even my extended family; even after all these years!

Finding a Spirit filled, Bible believing and teaching Pastor is very difficult these days.
Because not everyone rightly divides the word of truth 2 Tim 2:15
Very true appreciate the honesty, I feel the calling to Pastor the Latin community here in Alabama. Praying 🙏🏼

Hello Sir, I am preparing for this vocation with all of my might. The pointers that you gave were a good reminder of the pressures and trials to come. Thank you for this act of service via the video. May the Lord bless you abundantly and encourage you often.
In Christ,
will
You were absolutely correct.
God bless you Pastor Brandon... Yoy have a very rational approach and logical thinking! Take care and stay safe!
Don't let this stop you for with God you can do anything!
Bro… This is absolutely incredible
I am so blessed by this Message .Thank you pastor . It Will be whorth it , when you see families in harmony, broken marriages mended , prodigal son / daughter return home , divine healing and break -throughs
keep on preaching ,don't Give up. Thank you so much man of God God bless You reachly in Jesus name Amen 👍 sir
That is so true! Glory cannot come without crisis.
Thank you for this. Insightful for a new pastor. And seeing some of these things already
Thank you!
the presence of fear is because you still think its about you. 2cor 5:18.. rely on God and his grace.. you will find boldness in God
thanks for this awesome video , it's really good! I needed to hear , i've been questioning myself hard whether do i want to be a pastor or not.
My goodness, Can’t thank you enough 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️
This list is good, this is what I wish Someone told me before starting also:
get rid of your doubts and know that the God that called us is faithful to sustain us before, during, and after trial periods.
Don’t fight this, embrace her.
wow than you so much for this, I truly ppreciate this comment
Wow! Praise God for your comment brother! It’s so true! Keep pushing forward pastors! God is with us!
I’m 22, just turned, it’s been on my heart and I have been ignoring the lord (shame on me) I never ever imagined leading a church service. I know it’s hard. But my faith in God is stronger than the doubt I have in myself.
Thanks for sharing this things pastor. I can relate with all that you've said. God bless your ministry. 😇
You're welcome. Glad you've found it helpful.
Thanks for your video, I didn't get the point of moving. As I grew up and also the churches I know usually Pastors be Pastors for long time without having in mind moving somewhere else.
Im writing from south Germany, maybe its different in the US.
God Bless you Pastor.
Watching this to know how I can pray better for my pastors❤️
