I've been lucky enough to own one of each, and your right. The Pantera was more enjoyable to drive and more comfortable for my 6'2" frame. Both cars are very "heavy" with the controls, and as such would not be ideal for let's say a petite lady driver. :o) I still would give the Countach higher marks in appearance and exhaust note. Assuming a built engine that's putting out more than the Cleveland's stock 300hp, the Pantera wins all other categories.
As a longtime Pantera owner, I can appreciate the choices that were made in the restoration. I really like the fact that the rocker "running boards" were eliminated giving it more of the original Tom Tjaarda design. I have a 1972 Pre L, a narrow bodied car which I prefer to the GT5.. Mine underwent a 4 year restoration/modification that brought it a 500+hp engine, C4 Corvette seat custom molded and covered in diamond stitched leather, leathe dash, console, and firewall, flush windshield glass, cooling, suspension, and exhaust upgrades. 50 years after its inception, it still looks contemporary amongst its modern brethren, and I think it still looks better. Well done!!
Thx so much for the great comment. Yes even in todays world they still fir tight in ... an almost timeless design. Please send some pics of you car would love to see it! Info@soulofmachine.com ... take care of that amazing car you have ... and after such a restoration i recon its in your family for good.
How things change! I owned a lhd GT5 back in the early 90s and had one hell of a job selling it for 30k! I have seen an identical car for nearly 200k! I often wonder where mine ended up. It was a purple blue with white leather upholstery. Full GT5 body with spoiler. I would love to still own it. Great sound with handling to match although a handful if you over stepped the mark with it.
The early Porsche 930 3.0 Carrera & 930 Turbo cars fitted 205/50R15 P7 on the front and 225/50R15 P7 on the rear. Then the later 930 Turbo & the 930 Carerra “Turbo Look“ Porsche moved to 16” wheels and fitted 205/55R16 P7 and 225/50R16 P7 on the rear between 1978 and 1985. Then in 1985 they increased the 930s rear wheels and tires to 245/45R16 P7.
They should have kept it with Ford 351 Cleveland 4V. I had seen builds of those engines with well over 650 hp on pump gas/ daily drivers without any external power adders like supercharging or turbo.
Thx for the comment. Yes with builds its great to try and keep them as close to factory .. unfortunately the original motor was far gone and needed replacement.
A friend had a Pantera and bought an Edelbrock manifold and Holly carb for it. He sold me his for $75.OO. The Pantera ran a lot slower but my Ranchero- loved the step up.I had a hot cam in it already with cc heads.
Back in the 70s and 80s, the Pantera, Countach, Boxer were the poster cars of the era. Today, more like more show than go given that a four door electric family sedan Tesla model 3, would annihilate these "supercars" in all metrics.
i love every single little detail about this car... It is absolutely beautiful and i`m thinking of getting one when I grow up.
Yes it is a very special car indeed✌🏻
I'd have the Pantera over the Countach any day of the week
I agree with you on that! Thx for the comment.

I agree 100 percent
Agreed and the pantera is more aerodynamic
Pantera or Countach are TWINS?

Absolutely stunning GT5. Thank you to the owner for restoring this piece of automotive history.
Indeed a real beauty ans glad its on the road
Wow...what a beauty. You should have kept the Ford engine.
Absolutely beautiful car. Would be a privilege to see this on the road.
It is indeed once in a lifetime to see such a beast on the road.
I feel privileged watching this video.
I want one. Such an amazing looking car even now. Look wise I think it's aged much better than the Lamborghini Countach.
@@Dogboy73 you are right, still looks so good!

Oh wow! Sounds like you had a beaut! Such cool cars!
HA - time to sell the farm and chase that GT5 that you once owned and own it again - HA - but make SURE it has a CLEVELAND in the rear - HA.
@@geneva760Yes it had the Cleveland!
So much more then corvette. True preference
Absolutely NO reason to replace the sublime Cleveland (the true heart of any Pantera) with a Chebby.
Pantera is a thing of beauty.
@@garyhill2740 It is a great looking car indeed.
I LOVE this car! Well done.
Thank you very much!
Goeie donner, that's a gorgeous car. I had a poster of a black one like this on my wall as a kid.
Thank you! Yeah it is one insane beast
2:55 I love this "heresy" :D
Thx for the comment :-)
Excellent review. Thanks for the different shots while driving 👍🏽
Thank you very much!
Wow, thanks for the review. Only got to know this car through grand tour. And the sound….my god its ASMR
Thx so much! Glad you enjoyed it! It does sound sooooo good!
1:42 - They ran 345 in the rear, not 335. At the time, I believe only the 930 Turbo, Countach, and this car ran that wide tire.
Thank you kindly for the info, much appreciated.
@@SoulofMachine Nice review, and awesome machine
@@71DatsunZ Yeah they seemed to copy the countach a lot from the same era...the rear wing is slightly smaller would you believe

How do such wide tyres work in the wet, or is it best not to ask.
Agree that this is the most beautiful Pantera. That is GT5. GT5S with rounded wheel arches doesn't look so serious.
The. Italians. So ahead of there times. For an 82 car. Beautiful
@@giulianoasci could not agree more.
There is so much you can do with this car from a resto/mod standpoint.
Indeed! The options are endless.. such a great look to start with.
It looks like an 80s Hurican I love it 👌🏼
Very well described! Love that.
That car has my name written all over it... if united we would be one.... 🙏
It's very special indeed
👍for the car. I still prefer the GT5-S but this GT5 is sharp looking.
Interior has been left basically untouched? Pretty sure the car didn't come standard with a carbon fibre dash
Thx for the comment much appreciated. You are right it did not 👌🏻
They should've used a blacked out GT5 Pantera in Fury Road - that thing has a truly menacing look. Kudos !
I do agree!!
Beautiful!
Thank you
This was not available in US?
As far as i know it was available in US.
Nice seats Recaro ? Corbeau ?,Sparco ?
@@patrickrenaut2754 thx for the comment. I think these were recovered Corbeau seats.
I use to call it the poor mans Lamborghini. Awesome car!
Great channel mate.
I'm all in.
Thank you!

Nice vid, but something is missing… the sound of the engine
Thank you. Yes sometime i don't have enough time to get all thr footage i want.
It’s just menacing. It’s like the Countach’s evil cousin.
Exactly right! Well said!
If the Countach was Led Zeppelin, this was Black Sabbath
@@Shakes-Off-Fear 100% 🤘🏻
The most. " brutal " looking car ever !
Friends Dad had one in La Lucia Durbs
Oh wow.. perfect spot to cruise.
This has to be one of my favorite cars of all time......second to the Mustang of course.....😁
Such a beaut bro.. dig your stang too!

Agreed, great as a classic, even modern hot hatches will run away from them, but, still cool none the less.
What a stupid comment. Obviously a clueless clown
I’m thinking how the hell this car looks as pretty as a modern day lambo
Some classics are just so well designed
Too bad it does not still have the Cleveland engine in it.
Yeah unfortunately the old motor didn't make it.
Beautiful
What's cool is that it's a Dog-leg 5-Speed.
as a shitload of supercars were
WOW!!!! Thanks!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
I need one those!
A must own.👌🏻
What series vin is yours? 7000, 8000 or 9000 series?
#9250, the first gt5 made ...??
A fella in Summerville SC owns 3 of them. None in that shape though. They nice but not that nice.
Thx for the comment. Yeah it is a real era car indicative of those times.
Not a gt5s?
Thx for the comment. Just a gt5.
@@SoulofMachine Great car, but the GT5S was the prettiest of the lot.
世界中で一番美しいクルマはパンテーラだと思います。
Lost me when he said it had an engine swap
Thx for the comment, greatly appreciated. Unfortunately the original engine was not salvageable ... so swop was required.
love the exterior, and then saw the bellhousing and realized why it sounded like a turd hah.
The new batmobile
In order to be " The New Batmobile " it would have to carry a Lamborghini badge upfront AND the name of a bull.
I watched up until the guy said the car had a Chevy engine. Cut the video right there. The car is ruined
Thx for the comment, appreciate all feedback. Unfortunately the original motor was damaged badly and the owner only had this option available.
That car looks better without that wing
Without the wing it does get a very sleek look.
