- This is the world's first De Tomaso P72 prototype. Only 72 units of the P72 will ever be made, however, De Tomaso has currently produced 9 prototypes of this incredible car. The De Tomaso P72 is the definition of luxury as it's covered in rose gold and has wing mirrors and rims made out of copper. The body of the P72 is made completely out of carbon fiber making it the strongest car in the world. Sergi gives us an exclusive look at why the De Tomaso P72 is one of the coolest cars in the world.

I followed a Pantera one night in a town in the UK. It was a near mythical car in those days.. Couldn't believe one was in front of me. A new De Tomaso after all these years and this design is just stunning. It actually looks like a De Tomaso too!

This car is absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship is reminiscent of the older designs of the past and I do love that.
That my friend is what a rolling masterpiece looks like. Just as far as beauty is concerned from the inside out, this and the Pagani Utopia have to be two of the most beautiful cars in the world. If I could only have two cars in my dream garage it would be a De Tamaso P72 and the Pagani Utopia. The fact both come with manuals is just the icing on a very sweet cake.
This looks better than Utopia imo . I do have a feeling about the utopia will be like a senna hated at first then like bc of the colors

This protype clearly still has the originally planned v12 in it. For me it is an absolutely stunning car, perhaps one of if not the best looking modern car. My issue is definitely with the engine being a supercharged engine. While I absolutely love V8’s, I just think a v12 is so much more fitting for this particular vehicle.

The owner of DeTomaso recently hinted that the v12 manual is also in development and will be announced soon (but the initial cars will be V8)

De Tomaso is coming back in a MAJOR way. That's so fresh.
There's a better way to say it's looks futuristic AND retro at the same time. It looks like what designers thought the future would like back in the sixties. It's a retro vision of the future, come to life.
I thought I had seen the best with the GMA T.50; but then I saw the Pagani "Utopia", and thought this was the best; but then I saw this De Tomaso P72 and now I think this is the best.

Actually, DDE had this on their channel a few weeks ago when they were doing car week. They did a complete walk around and filmed it behind the Grand Caravan GT. It's really sick.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this car for awhile now, magnificent car! I absolutely love the the retro styling of it that reminds me of the old LeMans racers while still being modern.
This is honestly one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen.
Great seeing a lot more details of the P72 than any other video has shown! It will be interesting to see what will change in order to meet EPA/DOT requirements. E.g., the steering wheel, while cool, would have to be equipped with an airbag so it won't look the same - at least for the US market. Hopefully the styling will be little impacted from crash requirements and the manual 6-speed is retained.

I really love this car. Interior like Pagani, such a unique exterior, amazing sound, just a spectacular automobile with performance to match its looks. Gold may have a lower melting point, but it is the best heat conductor and was used on the McLaren F1. I hope they can get the slack and some of the whines out of the transmission is my only criticism.
just as i thought. The exterior is the best I have seen this year (and for many years) but the interior retro design with the manual gearbox and visible components closely resembles the Pagani Utopia

It's a pity that the Chinese-owned DeTomaso decided to make cars for the ultra-wealthy. This car is like a Gucci handbag. Beautiful, but practically useless. Few will ever own one and the ones that do, won't drive it. I mean, seriously, you couldn't take this on a road trip. It has absolutely no storage, not even a glove box. And what's up with the ridiculous exhaust? I guess you will never be able to park this car outside or drive it in the rain. This car betrays its roots in almost every way, except the engine. Rose gold and quilted leather scream nouveau riche. Alejandro de Tomaso and Tom Tjaarda must be rolling in their graves.
I never comment on car videos or these type of content posts but , I have to state publicly that this is the most aesthetically pleasing , most beautiful automobiles I've seen since the A/C Cobra , GT40 and even the Stratos . The color choice only adds a cherry to this incredible creation. 👀⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The time I first saw the Mangusta (forget the inferior-looking Pantera), I followed it for ten or fifteen minutes all around La Jolla (San Diego) until it stopped, so I could examine it. It was THAT amazing looking. Here, De Tomaso does NOT disappoint. Bravo!

Sounds like a V12 to me, but I hear the production model will have a supercharged Roush 5.0, which doesn't sound bad at all. Anyhow, I'm not into supercars, don't really care for them, but I sure appreciate something like this, as it keeps the spirit of the hand-built sports car alive and well, it's definitely no cookie cutter lambo, this is on another level, and clearly a passion project.

I think this is one of the most beautiful cars have seen.
To me this car is indicative of a growing trend in design, a kind of dramatic, indulgent retro-futurism, which I personally embrace with enthusiasm. It's as if the most archaic visions of the future - those of early sci-fi, seared into public consciousness through the super-mediums of television and Hollywood - anticipated their own emergence as a sort of ironic, self-referential meta-aesthetic, one which is emerging now and earnestly references a more heroic vision of the future, ironically one re-imagined from the past.
The styling antithesis of the Pantera; curves vs the folded sheet style of the Ital Design team. But wow! It is a stunning design!!!

Beautiful machine. It reminds me of the kind of futuristic-looking car designs that I used to play around with as a youngster. The Pontiac Banshee and Corvette Indy were my inspirations. The P72 is very much a naughty lady of a car. I'm a little jealous.
