    I recently had an emergency appendectomy. When They handed me my release papers there was no prescription for pain and I was still reeling from the surgery. I was in so much pain I couldn’t get out of my bed yet I was being discharged with NO pain medication. American medical treats honest people like they are a deadly drug addicts. And get this: Honest people are forced to live in pain while real deadly drugs are welcomed across our borders. I am pissed.

      I'm a 100% service connected vet who only took Naprosyn for my traumatic arthritis and back injuries for 20 years. I had to start tramadol 3x a day when both hips deteriorated two years ago. It helped immensly. I don't need it all the time. I had hip replacement 6 months ago. Now I'm titrating down on the amount to one in morning and night. I don't do opiods. Period. I'm hoping to be off of it in a few more months.

      That’s the problem for me. It wears off too quickly. So half of my day I have no pain relief. I have ankylosis spondylitis and neuropathy from my cancer treatments. Along with a number of other side effects.I can’t take Ibuprofen because of the ulcers I have had from my illness. Tylenol by itself does absolutely nothing for the pain. It sucks that it doesn’t last longer because my neuropathy keeps me from sleeping well,which effects my waking hours.But I have to use my prescription during the daytime because I have to work. And part of that is getting ready for work.I can hardly walk when I get up.. And I have to drive for almost an hour after that to get to work.The only time I get a good nights sleep is the weekends. Then I take it at night and suffer when I’m awake.

    Been taking Tramadol for 10 years now for chronic back pain. I take it 4 to 5 days per week mixed with Naproxin, but the Tram is the major player. Hits home on the pain every time, lifts my mood, feel really alert with plenty of energy. Feel relaxed and refreshed in the morning. The only downside is the potency decreases if you take it more than 2 days in a row, so you have to try and space it out. No negative side effects apart from occasionally very mild sick feeling. Amazing drug for me, but would happily give it up in exchange for the loss of my lower back pain

      That's the point of it. It doesn't actually do anything for pain like morphine would. It makes you feel euphoric so you forget or ignore the pain. Not good for acute pain but good for a headache or something not so severe. It makes you really relaxed if you go to bed but energetic if you do something like clean your house. It amplifies the mood you are in depending on what task you are doing. For me at least, everyone's different t ofcourse. I would describe it more of an anti anxiety drug than a painkiller.

    It all depends on one’s own personal medical reason for their pain, the type of pain, rather it’s acute pain or chronic pain. The medical field of long term pain patients, need to be separated from short term pain. And, not all patients can tolerate the same medications. When this war on opioids came about, I was then prescribed “psychotic medications” and epilepsy medications, which really messed with me so badly, that it was worse than pain medications itself!

He said Oxycontin would be best because it lasts over 8 hours so no waking up every 4 hours to take more pain meds. Now, no doctor will prescribe Oxycontin because of the abuse of a few. In fact, many doctors are now using Tramadol instead of other powerful pain meds. Only the patient suffers.

    • @awulix
      @awulix 3 роки тому +2

      They believe it’s trash because the patrons let them know of it. Tramadol is basically a placebo pill. Has an intimidating name that makes you feel like it’s significant (trama - trauma) but in reality you’ve never heard of it outside of the hospital because it doesn’t actually work.
      For a lot of people, the thought of being healed does more foe them than the medicine can. They’re also a way for a doctor to assign a pain med while avoiding any risk in a patient they think is young or could potentially abuse medicine. My doc prescribed me this when I broke a vertebrae but was under the assumption it was just a muscle injury at the time of prescription as we were waiting for X-rays to process. Luckily I’m a degenerate and was able to obtain actual pain meds which allowed me to leave my house 3 weeks earlier than I would have on just tramadol but it for sure changed my opinion on how truthful I feel medical professionals are to me.

After the surgery they told me it would be about 24 hours before the nerve block wore off but to start taking the pain medication as soon as it started to wear off. Less than 12 hours after my surgery the nerve block was wearing off and I didn’t start taking the Tramadol quick enough to keep up with the pain. I was in misery before it finally caught up. Also it made me constipated something fierce, which was a misery unto itself. Even the stool softener they prescribed did not help. After 2 days I quit taking the Tramadol and put up with the pain rather than not be able to poop. It was horrible. Sitting on the toilet having to push as hard as I could trying, and failing, to go. I've been prescribed this for probably close to 10yrs, to me its not addictive and believe addiction to any drug is heavily reliant on the genetics of a person for lack of a better term. Does it help with certain pain? Sure. Is it as effective as an actual narcotic? No, but certain people cannot take narcotics because they become addicted to them based on their genetics.
    Most doctors are loath to prescribe a narcotic pain reliever because of the heavy government foot placed upon their necks which anyone with a thinking brain knew would be the outcome of government over regulating them. Dr's are afraid for lack of a better term to prescribe them because of the government and this is what my own doctors have told me in private this is why most will not prescribe anything stronger than tramadol and some doctors don't even want to prescribe that either, they just don't want to deal with the government. Who suffers because of this? The patient of course because government is "always the solution"

Once a day usually helps. I have had days where I don’t need it. I think everyone has individual needs when it comes to pain and medication. I finally found something that helps me function without feeling like I’m trying to fight the sleepiness. My MD is very supportive. The closest thing I think what it would be like being a zombie. I should've gone straight to hospital but thought it would wear off within a day, coz that was a similar reaction when I took one dose of Diazapam to help me sleep when I worked night work, except it lasted 10 hours- just enough time to be 'sober' when I had to start work that night. I injured my tailbone about 50 years ago and have had issues ever since. I started dialysis two years ago and could not handle staying 4 hours in the chair without squirming in pain and being miserable. The doc started me on tram and I take it (one 50-dose) on treatment days. Now I sleep comfortably through the 4 hours, get up and can walk without being in a wheelchair or in tears. I find it very predictable. Guess my system is just different. I have asthma and high B/P and this med seems not to affect either and I also do not get nausea from it.

I've had 8 surgeries due to injuries and believe I was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia which is how I got put on the medication. At the time, I didn't know I had a bulging disc in my neck pressing on my spinal cord; took 5 years to diagnose, plus surgery. I was still trying to get the right diagnosis for my right hip, after a car accident. It took 2 years to get the right diagnosis and two surgeries to fix my issues. I think what has helped me get off of the medication; taking Dr. Scheussler's mineral cell salts. Been taking Dr. Scheussler's salts for 18 days. My PCM is happy that I am trying to get off the medication. I could never take stronger pain meds as I get so sick on them, even, the pain meds given in surgery.
