On the commercial and I would like to see a log splitter 37 tons soup up.
Being in the commercial end sometimes you have some very nardling material but it would be nice to cut the cycle time in splitting introduce fast amounts of chords of firewood. I think the only way that can happen.
Is By custom making a modified cylinder also having a high flow GPM pump with a dump.
And also the motor to push it and one more thing have a justiable wedge. And at least a 24 gallon tank for long day use running so the hydraulic oil does not get hot.

Great to see you doing some testing like this to make the machines better.

    Nice rig. Great machines.

I suspect this combo would become power limited in warmer temps. Warmer temp affect density altitude or the amount of o2 available for combustion. Make sure your testing factors in altitude and temps.

Set the relief accordingly and you can run and even smaller motor. Deadhead the ram again the stop and set the relief so I just tries to stall the engine.

Do you guys plan to sell the 4"x3"x24" cylinder that you are testing? Also I know they recommend a 16hp minimum for this pump but you guys seem to be running it on the GX390 (13hp) with ease. Did you have any issues so far with your testing that severely bogged or stalled the motor? I've had a GX390 on my last splitter build for going on a decade with a 22 gpm and it never bogged even the slightest bit with more than 100 cords of wood run through it.
The GX390 is very fuel efficient and extraordinarily reliable. I hate to go to a v-twin for 2.5 times the cost and i especially do not get excited about going to a Chinese motor to get a single cylinder 15-16hp.
Your video is as though you've been reading my mind and I appreciate this information so much!!

I got a 28 ton in route from you guys! Can’t wait! How are you getting sub 6 second cycle times with the 22 gallon per minute pump when you advertise 10-12 seconds on the 22mpg machines? Is it the new ram? Is that ram available for the 28 ton units? Did you yo the hose sizes at all. Basically what can i do to my new 728 to make It have a 6 second cycle time???

We're testing the 300 Series (22-ton) splitter in this video. It's the combination of engine, pump and cylinder that are producing these fast cycle times. The 728 comes with a 4.5" bore (ID) x 24" stroke x 3" rod (OD) cylinder. Traditionally, the minimum recommended engine for the 28 GPM pump is 670cc. The flow rate of the 28GPM pump would require a larger hydraulic tank than currently comes on our 700 series of splitters or an external cooling fan.

Are you using 3/4'' hoses excluding return. I imagine that is 1''

Yes, we're using 3/4" hoses. Our supply line is 1".

My splitter keeps spitting hydraulic fluid out of the tank any idea why?

So would it work to put a 28gpm on my 737-30 with the 13.5hp Briggs motor?

Great video and a great product. I'm in the process of building my homebuilt log splitter and I just placed an order with Rugged Made for a 22 gpm pump, and a 4 inch welded cylinder with a 2.25 rod. That thing will be fast! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🪵🪓🌲🪓🪵🪓🌲🪓🪵
