Meet the RuggedMade FC140 Plate Compactor
In today's video we are taking a closer look at the RuggedMade FC140 Plate Compactor. The lightest member of the RuggedMade compaction line, the FC140 still packs a punch with up to 8" of compaction depth, while being sleek enough to get into all of the tight corners needed to complete a job.
The FC140 comes equipped with a 208cc Briggs engine, and an optional wheel kit is available as well.
For more information on the FC140 plate compactor, check out our website:

Souped-up 300-Series Log Splitter Ep. 4: Can a Honda GX390 Handle a 28 GPM Pump?
Переглядів 1,6 тис.4 місяці тому
In today's video we are back for Episode 4 of our souped-up log splitter series. In this episode we put a Honda GX390 engine on our 300-series log splitter and tried two different pump sizes, the 28 GPM pump, and a smaller 22 GPM pump. Could the GX390 handle the 28 GPM pump and put out a similar cycle time to the Raven 420cc engine? Then we switched to a 22 GPM pump to see just how big a decrea...

In today's tech corner, Jared and Nick show us how to replace the pull-start on a Honda-GX engine (and clones). Among the topics of conversation: diagnosing the issue, the removal of the broken pull-starter, a conversation about parts and how interchangeable they are among the many Honda engine clones, and re-installing the pull-starter. Plus, go-karts are involved. We would love to hear in the...
Souped-up 300-Series Log Splitter Ep.3: The Pursuit of a Five Second Cycle Time!
Переглядів 2,6 тис.6 місяців тому
In today's video we are back in the woodyard for Part III of our souped-up log splitter series. This time, we upgraded the cylinder on our 322-24 log splitter in a major way, going from a 2.25" rod diameter to a 3" rod diameter. This increased power should make the retract of the cylinder significantly faster. We also moved from an 8 gallon tank to a 12 gallon tank. Our question: would these ch...

    Too bad they are always sold out when I have the wherewithal to go look for it, lol. Sooner or later I'll get my timing right. Only thing better would be adjustable 4x wedge. Still love my splitter though!

    I like this video. My 22 ton Husky splitter has an air hole in the filler plug of hydraulic fluid reservoir. If not level, fluid can run out. You can also lose some fluid in transit. You can plug the hole. Be sure to remove plug while splitting. (Design flaw?)

    very good. that brings a lot of light into the darkness. but my single-acting cylinder still has a connection on the lower side for a fine, non-pressurized hose that goes back to the pump. could it be that this is a kind of emergency drain in case the piston seal leaks a little?

    Do you guys plan to sell the 4"x3"x24" cylinder that you are testing? Also I know they recommend a 16hp minimum for this pump but you guys seem to be running it on the GX390 (13hp) with ease. Did you have any issues so far with your testing that severely bogged or stalled the motor? I've had a GX390 on my last splitter build for going on a decade with a 22 gpm and it never bogged even the slightest bit with more than 100 cords of wood run through it. The GX390 is very fuel efficient and extraordinarily reliable. I hate to go to a v-twin for 2.5 times the cost and i especially do not get excited about going to a Chinese motor to get a single cylinder 15-16hp. Your video is as though you've been reading my mind and I appreciate this information so much!!

    On the commercial and I would like to see a log splitter 37 tons soup up. Being in the commercial end sometimes you have some very nardling material but it would be nice to cut the cycle time in splitting introduce fast amounts of chords of firewood. I think the only way that can happen. Is By custom making a modified cylinder also having a high flow GPM pump with a dump. And also the motor to push it and one more thing have a justiable wedge. And at least a 24 gallon tank for long day use running so the hydraulic oil does not get hot.

    So would it work to put a 28gpm on my 737-30 with the 13.5hp Briggs motor?

    • @RuggedMade
      @RuggedMade 4 місяці тому

      Traditionally, the minimum recommended engine for the 28 GPM pump is 670cc. The flow rate of the 28GPM pump would require a larger hydraulic tank than currently comes on our 700 series of splitters or an external cooling fan.

  • @tech-test-break-fix

    I suspect this combo would become power limited in warmer temps. Warmer temp affect density altitude or the amount of o2 available for combustion. Make sure your testing factors in altitude and temps.

    I got a 28 ton in route from you guys! Can’t wait! How are you getting sub 6 second cycle times with the 22 gallon per minute pump when you advertise 10-12 seconds on the 22mpg machines? Is it the new ram? Is that ram available for the 28 ton units? Did you yo the hose sizes at all. Basically what can i do to my new 728 to make It have a 6 second cycle time???

    • @RuggedMade
      @RuggedMade 4 місяці тому

      We're testing the 300 Series (22-ton) splitter in this video. It's the combination of engine, pump and cylinder that are producing these fast cycle times. The 728 comes with a 4.5" bore (ID) x 24" stroke x 3" rod (OD) cylinder. Traditionally, the minimum recommended engine for the 28 GPM pump is 670cc. The flow rate of the 28GPM pump would require a larger hydraulic tank than currently comes on our 700 series of splitters or an external cooling fan.

  • @charger7022
    @charger7022 5 місяців тому

    Is that the splitter that has the faster pump installed? I’m looking to get a 28 ton with the 420cc motor and upgrade to the 28gpm pump. Will that work ok? Thanks!

    • @RuggedMade
      @RuggedMade 4 місяці тому

      Yes, this is the 300 Series that we've been tinkering with. So far, the 420cc Raven has been working well with the big pump, but we need to conduct more testing. Traditionally, the minimum recommended engine for the 28 GPM pump is 670cc. The flow rate of the 28GPM pump would require a larger hydraulic tank than currently comes on our 700 series of splitters or an external cooling fan.

    I would definitely be interested in you guys offering an upgrade kit. I have a homemade splitter with a painfully slow cycle time, but it does have a GX390 and a 25 gallon hydraulic tank. What do you think would be the best pump to get the optimum performance matched with that engine?

    • @RuggedMade
      @RuggedMade 4 місяці тому

      Technically speaking, the minimum recommended engine size for a 22 GPM pump is 390cc (the GX390 is 389cc), so your engine should have no issues turning that pump. What size cylinder does your splitter have?
