Years ago, when I managed a guitar shop in Montreal, a client came in with a bass that had a stainless steel fretboard. It was a four string piccolo bass made by F Bass in Hamilton, ON. The bass also sported an original Leon Quand Badass bridge, the kind that were really thick and blocky that were meant to be countersunk into the body. I don't know whether it started its life with a stainless steel fretboard, or whether it was somehow converted.
@@CharlesBerthoud great playing. Would like to hear you play a bass with the frets using just intonation frets. Also do you play that Steve Bailey artificial harmonics technique. He was great on that old concert he did with Victor Wooten where he uses them sliding. Percy Jones is a master of those sliding harmonics also. Would like to see you do a video with a lot of sliding artificial harmonics. Maybe you already have one. Percy Jones mixes them into funky lines and Bailey uses them more melodically . I was also trying to work on having my right hand technique similar to yours. I picked up a different passion in life though so it's nice to see it realized!
I'm fairly certain that you could make a 2 x 4 with rubber bands sound incredible. Rock on!!!
I know nothing about bass but somehow I found your channel and have binge watched every single video, bass is now one of my favorite instruments…
Did not know the original badass bridge is supposed to be countersunk lol. I have a badass I on an old univox P copy.
Nice video! You never fail to impress!
Thanks!
Would also like to hear you do a duet with Remco
This guy has mastered bass so much he doesn't even need frets to know the perfect location of notes. I can't hear anything out of tune!
This playing is insane!! Absolutely incredible!!! Inspires me, yet makes me want to leave my bass(s) in the case...kinda like leaving my guitars on the wall to just look at after I watch a Tommy Emmanuel video 😁
Play them man! Honestly I used to get upset like that about other peoples playing and now it just inspires me
Keep playing as long as you can. One day you may not be able to play, and regret turns to rage over time.
Dude’s playing is fairly basic, honestly. Stop blowing shyt out of proportion.🙄🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@spanqueluv9er So basic that everyone could do it right? I've been playing bass for a little over 10 years and can't play like this.
@@spanqueluv9er you must be fun at concerts…lol
Intonation was perfect. Insanely hard to pull off with a fretless bass. Incredible playing!
Having markers on the side helps and practicing with a fretless for a long time
Oh man... I could listen to that all day. What a great groove...
After working 60 hour weeks, there's not much better than coming home on Friday, drinking a beer(s) and watching your vids. Love the jams man.
Damn, it sounds like it had some sort of effect pedal turned on. Nice vid!
Yeah fretlesses always sound a bit like they have chorus on them for some reason...
@@CharlesBerthoud finger&ear coordination without real limits sounds a Human is playing not a robot 🎶👍
My God Man! How GOOD ARE YOU? Just insane playing, I'm in Awe. These videos of your playing a complete song is so addictive!
Me: You couldn't possibly amaze me any more
Charles: Hold my beer
Wow those slides sounds more than perfect! And the fretless tapping is very clear, wonderful Charles
wow, you just have become one of the best bassists in the world, play like this so tuned in a fretless bass is insane. congrats
Another LeFay, I see you like them a LOT. And I couldnt agree more
You sound insane Mr. Charles!
Charles you are the best player.I believe you are now ready to take your playing to the next level. You have you compose your own solos.godspeed bro
You’re really killing it lately. You deserve to be on a big stage, with a great band! I would pay to see it.
Great instrument, great performance.
Absolutely miles beyond ridiculous levels of skill. There's nearly 8 billion people in the world, but it still surprises me that even one of them has managed to reach this freakish level of virtuosity.
