Love your comment "Well sealed and seasoned". Reminds me of Penzoil engines I tore down in the 70's. Those engines looked and smelled bad but were almost always in good shape for rebuild when I worked at a machine shop.
When there was actually pride in the job you did, sad to see where we have come. Good luck with the engine, be nice to have a couple pieces of this one survive, she’s earned it. Stay safe guys
My neighbor had a '67 Fairlane in high school and that had a 289 2bbl. He claimed it was fast and never lost a race. A classmate bought it and soon realized it was all hype. The old oil looks like a lot of short trips and an oil change every three years.
