I was thinking they did too? But maybe not? They got a mig Tig unit recently and they have a mig unit , I don't remember seeing them use a plasma cutter?
Was that cross brace that went from the side rail to the tunnel structural or just a seat mounting point? Seems like a substantial piece to cut out. Nice work though.
The front one that got cut or the rear one? The rear one is a brace across the chassis to stiffen it. You can weld a captive nut in the new railed retain it. As for the brace we cut unfortunately you have no option but to loose that rear bolt on the butterfly brace. We out over 100 miles I'm at ncm on it after this and didn't notice any difference from the butterfly loosing a pick up point.
It lowered the floor 1 ½". On top of that the bracket that mounts the seat is bolted to the cross member up front and I think in the back it's like ½" up from the pan. I'm not sure how tall daylan is but atleast 6' and fits with helmet on under the hard top sitting up straight. I know someone about your height who's got long legs that fits in one without the drop floor.
@Spyke383 As I understand it, the newer models with the fixed headlamps have more room than the old flip up headlight models. I'm 6' 2" and drove one of the older ones. Soft top provided more headroom than the hardtop.
@@joseantoniocastrellonjr2568 I'm not sure daylan may jump in but the soft top was removed to fit the rollbar so we never put much thought into that top
@Spyke383 Sorry, was meant for kubla84. My dad bought a hard top for the '96 Miata he has. I bought it used and drove around with the soft top. Then sold it to my dad for a grand and take over payments so I could get a SS Camaro in 2002. I'm just saying, if he wants to get a miata at 6' 6", soft top is the way to do it. Eyes will be above the windshield.
Happy New Year and good health .James in Colorado.

Did you ever finish your bus the videos suddenly stopped?
