Since merging to slightly wider tires a few years ago (23mm to 25mm), I can get by with lower pressures without a noticeable loss of speed, but a much smoother ride.
Sexy wheels! I personally like the ride quality of running lower psi in both my clincher and tubies but appreciate your points of being consistent and always checking/reinflating.
Love getting advice from you, Bobke, on your "how to" series. The fix a flat was a keeper for me as I've not been good at changing out the rear tire to use on my trainer. NOW I've got advice from the Master! Thanks! Love your channel, keep up the great work. Ride on!
As many have commented already, I now run 25 mm tires and run my Michelins at a much lower pressure. The result has been a smooth, comfortable ride and with my steel frame it feels wonderful.
Very good, but most agree there is a correlation between rider weight vs. tire (or is that tyre) diameter. So what is your weight and tire diameter you run?
My Michelins came with a guide. The stamped tire pressure range is to be calibrated to the rider weight. Example: 135lb rider-95psi 185lb rider-120 psi
Morning Bobke! Love your channel. Nothing to do with tire pressure but I was wondering about how many miles are you doing in a week and how often do you ride/workout?
No All clinchers (Same as sew ups) will have the max pressure on the sidewall usually anything from 100 to 120 PSI... If you try to pump a clincher up to 175 PSI you will have a large bang and your tube will be shredded and your tire off the rim.. My gator skin 25s max PSI 120, they are the clinchers
keep the video's coming Bob! Any chance we can get some commentary or analysis on some of these smaller races going on right now? Or are you like locked into a contract with CBS or something? Either way, the consistent uploads are good...
Curious - What smaller races are you referring to? I have tried to cover js about each race on the Broom Wagon each week. Any race happening now would be on next week's Broom Wagon.
BobkeTV okay got it! Was just wanting to hear you talk about the stuff happening at Abu Dhabi, Langkawi, the Track World Cup tomorrow and La Provence and Algarve that ended recently.
you will hear about Abu Dhabi, Langkawi an la Provence in next week's Broom Wagon. I covered Algarve in this weeks edition of the Broom Wagon. ua-cam.com/video/OR29_sZoYkU/v-deo.html
I am an official Clydesdale, I am always filled to max 120PSI.. My only expectation if been climbing all day and ready to be fly down the other side I stop and all a bit of air out so I will not over heat and blow a tube...

Tire pressure is usually based on your weight. And wider tires would use a lower pressure also.

Thanks for the tip Bobke !
Nothing like a finger tick to figure out right tire pressures!
Custom "R R" - Robert Roll edition wheels?
Ro-bear Ro-lay. :-)
Bobke - Excellent video! Can you record a followup to this video discussing your preferences for tubed and tubeless mountain bike tires? Thanks!! RCB.
Is there a difference between clincher tires pressure and tubular tires?
Morning Bobke! Love your channel. Nothing to do with tire pressure but I was wondering about how many miles are you doing in a week and how often do you ride/workout?
Whoa, Bobke with the barbells. Throwin the iron around.
Bobke... Jaysus... Those wheels are 10k retail... did you redact the "Z" yourself or were they already de-faced?
What kind of valve extension did you just use? On my bontrager extension you have to remove the valve core.
do you run the same pressure on clinchers?

If I'm remembering my chemistry classes correctly, 1 bar (or 1,000 millibar) is standard air pressure at sea level; it's equivalent is 14.7 psi
AKA approximately one atmosphere (on planet Earth :-).
ytyehyeh Yeah, that too!

BobkeTV okay, i must've missed that, thanks, you're a legend Mr. Roll!
Hey bobke- 1 bar = atmospheric pressure at sea level. Thanks for the vids!
pump up that Bosu while your at it... heh prolly 1 bar

Ted Godfrey How wide are your tires?
cerberus1981 700x25 I wish I could go wider but that is all the clearance I have on my cannondale CADD10
Where is the BOBKE pump!?
its in the trophy case of course ;-)
Fair enough! Always looking for a shameless Rollfast plug! Lol
Why did you black out the Z?
Rob Roll.
I've heard people run 5-7bars
Dropping that much on a manually operated tire pump is insane. You can get a really nice air compressor for 1/3 of that.
After spending all that money on the Silva, there was nothing left for a broom or garden tools ;-)
Thay are some set of wheels
