I have the 2019 Pilot and I think an important thing to highlight is that is has Lane Keep Assist - NOT just Lane Departure Mitigation like many manufacturers. There’s a big difference. LKAS keeps you in the center of the lane and will automatically take gentle curves, while LDM ping-pongs you from side to side if you take your hands off the wheel. LDM is a safety feature, LKAS is semi-autonomous tech. And it works very well!
@@TheStraightPipes Went back and watched it again...maybe it wasn't the Atlas, but the thought of taking kids to soccer practice (not with Jakub of course).
Went 3 row SUV shopping a month ago. Tried the 2019 Highlander fully loaded, the Palisade and the Atlas. Wife and I then went to Honda just to be thorough. The dealership had a 2020 Black Edition Pilot (yes, it’s been available in the US). Tried it, got a good discount, boom! The Pilot was not even on our initial list. But with 2 small kids, it made sense. Not as fancy as the Palisade, but much better than the Highlander and the Atlas. Plus it doesn’t look too bad all blacked out (still a SUV looking like a minivan somehow, make no mistake).
I bought a Honda Pilot 22 touring and loved it, an amazing SUV in many ways performance readable and feels so comfortable. Honda is Honda . They don’t need to compete with the other competitors. Thank you Honda for good product
I own a 2017 Pilot Touring AWD and I’m absolutely happy with that. I chose Touring over Elite because the latter one didn’t have LaneWatch. It’s sad to see the feature has been completely phased out by Honda. They could at least leave it as a safety option.
Nice review again! Just came to think, can you specify if the steering wheel heats all around or just partially... Seems stupid but my 60k$ POS '17 Sienna Limited has only partial steering wheel heater...
I had a 2016 Pilot for 2 years/66,000 miles. Really good family vehicle. Only traded it in as I needed 2 cars. I would definitely have another Pilot if I needed a 7 or 8 seat SUV again.
My mom has a 2016 pilot LX 2WD. The most basic model, and I think its the best option. It has the basic audio system with bluetooth and usb integration, tri-zone zone climate control (dual front, single rear), cloth seats, same 3.5l engine and the probably more reliable 6 speed auto. Thats all we need in a car like this. It is still very comfortable and reliable as a typical Honda. In my personal opinion thats the Pilot to get. No need to get frustrated by the bad infotainment system of the more expensive models or the transmission issues on the 9 speed that have happened in some models.
I drove a first gen Pilot, it was great. The Pilot has always had a proper SUV body style, meaning NO FASTBACK. I was able to fit two 100lb dogs in the back. Honda doesnt disappoint with this gen. Is this better than the Subie Ascender?
We own a CRV and I never have issues changing stations, because I use the steering wheel controls to do that. No need to take your eyes off the road. And if you set the display behind the steering wheel to “Now Playing,” you can see your stations right in front of you.
Before buying my 2019 Pilot 6spd , test drove the Highlander and the Explorer I didn’t like the gear hunting transmission from the Highlander, the explorer was good but is not reliable as a keeper I sold my 2014 accord v6 with over 100k miles and no issues other than battery, tires and filters I’m happy with the Pilot on every way, reliability, comfort, performance and price
The answer to the radio discussion problem is preset. Preset had always been the solution. You should not be screwing with the settings in the car while cruising at any speed. The cars warming up, you adjust your memory seat, your climate control, your mirrors, and your entertainment. It's got many presets; do it once and you're set for life. Then you can talk to your toy, it's set. You live to love your tech, use it.
I've always liked the Pilot. Really nice vehicle. But I recently test drove the Palisade. It makes this Honda feel like a poor cousin. The Hyundai was better in every aspect. I hope the Pilot is cheaper than the Palisade in Canada, or it could be in trouble.
So how is your Hyundai holding out? I bought an Elantra in 2016. It's been burning oil and I think the Cat is plugged on it. Always something we have to replace on it. Will never buy a Hyundai again! Going back to Honda.
@@robertduncan5511 Sorry you had a bad experience. But that's the exception and not the rule. Hyundai is much more reliable than Honda. It's kinda shocking really. Honda/ Acura has fallen to near the bottom. You can do a lot better than Honda these days. Lots of good choices in this segment too. Happy shopping man!
Hey guys. Pretty sure you can get Honda Sensing to resume cruise control once it comes to a stop. All you have to do is tap the gas pedal or press resume on the cruise control button.
13:50 The Honda Pilot and Kia Telluride/Hyundai Palisade are definitely at the top of the class. With an non-CVT Automatic transmission, V6 engine, and AWD both the Kia/Hyundai and Honda outshine the smaller and slightly less family friendly Toyota Highlander and Subaru Ascent.
These guys have character and are enjoyable to watch. Many things they talk about I agree with. My big disagreement is with Honda sensing. As a Pilot owner I can tell you all my Honda sensing options were disabled after a month of trying to adapt. Nice try Honda but try harder next time.
I wont bother watching the video because I hate this car, but wanted to stop by and like the video anyway, cause you guys deserve it I understand that as a car reviewing channel you need to review regular actual sleeper cars too :D
Well, you asked for suggestions, so let's see a review of the high end turbo version of the KIA Sportage. I prefer the looks of the Hyundai Tucson, but in the US it doesn't come with the hot engine. Great reviews by the way. I love those box tests so much I'm actually considering having my name put on one despite the fact that I have absolutely nothing to sell.
OOPS! There's no CVT option for this car. My bad. The base transmission is a 6spd auto.

Ooooo that infotainment photoshop/editing was niiiiice
Just bought one! Awesome review, you guys help make the decision.
Congrats
Would love to see the the comparison between safety suite features like Lane Keeping, Adaptive cruise control on different cars in the same class.
YES! I was waiting for this video. Don't need it now but in the future I'd love owning one.
We own a CRV and I never have issues changing stations, because I use the steering wheel controls to do that. No need to take your eyes off the road. And if you set the display behind the steering wheel to “Now Playing,” you can see your stations right in front of you.
P.S. Love your show, btw.
A day without these guys is like Doug DeMuro did not say "This" at the start of his videos. You guys are great. Greetings from Chile !
Before buying my 2019 Pilot 6spd , test drove the Highlander and the Explorer
I didn’t like the gear hunting transmission from the Highlander, the explorer was good but is not reliable as a keeper
I sold my 2014 accord v6 with over 100k miles and no issues other than battery, tires and filters
I’m happy with the Pilot on every way, reliability, comfort, performance and price
Never trust a Lakers fan. Except Yuri. Yuri gets a pass. #TeamIsEverything
You guys need to review the new A6, A7, or A8. All the screens!
Arnt there steering wheel controls that you can adjust the volume and change the channel
You can only change your presets. You can’t seek through channels.
Brent Cairns. 100% 👍🏼
There’s 12 presets, I don’t know how many radio stations u actually listen to but I listen to about 4 tops, poor car review
The Pilot looks good. Hopefully this means the Passport will be this good as well.
It's basically the same, but for 5 people, more and capable and possibly a tad cheaper. Passport will sell like pussy
2019 Mazda CX9 next! I personally thing they are the best in this class
A volume knob AND orange rear turn signals! A successful update, IMO.
Dope sweater Yuri!
I love the “knob screen” ha ha ha 😂
These guys have character and are enjoyable to watch. Many things they talk about I agree with. My big disagreement is with Honda sensing. As a Pilot owner I can tell you all my Honda sensing options were disabled after a month of trying to adapt. Nice try Honda but try harder next time.
Please do the Cx9, cliche corner please!! 😬
The screen on that infotainment looks very high resolution. Nice job Honda.
Is anyone else living for Yuri's sweater?
Subbed! Great vid, was the first one I watched on your channel.
Sweet, watch more!
I love that Lakers jacket
PLEASE PLEASE DO A Subaru ascent, crosstrek, and outback since you guys are in the winter suffering
Better than other 2019 Pilot reviews I’ve seen! (Even though you were wrong on the CVT).
Seat arm rests are the best. I notice how much you guys use them. More cars should have them.
Ya. My element has it. It’s amazing
Pilot all the way. Just traded in my 2003 Odyssey after 17 years for a blue 2020 pilot elite.
I wont bother watching the video because I hate this car, but wanted to stop by and like the video anyway, cause you guys deserve it
I understand that as a car reviewing channel you need to review regular actual sleeper cars too :D
Rockin' that Lakers jersey!
Eye test Best, make it standard test for all reviews going forward
You guys need too review the 2019 ford explorer 😁😁
Well, you asked for suggestions, so let's see a review of the high end turbo version of the KIA Sportage. I prefer the looks of the Hyundai Tucson, but in the US it doesn't come with the hot engine. Great reviews by the way. I love those box tests so much I'm actually considering having my name put on one despite the fact that I have absolutely nothing to sell.
Do it.
