The scene of them shooting into the forest was because one of the producer said there’s not enough gun firing in the movie so the Director pretty much said fuck it. You want some gunfire and he put that scene in of them just shooting into the forest.
A lot of people tie this movie with the original Aliens as the best action film ever made. It’s just so simplistic and I love it. For me personally, these are the kinds of films I want to see more of. I know everybody has their taste for the kind of movies they want to see more of these days, but for me the idea behind Predator is what I love to see.
@OrionInSpace I don't think you did. If you did, you would have simply written "Aliens" as opposed to "the original Aliens". Unless adding needless and potentially confusing text to your sentences is a hobby of yours.
Man, I love Prey but I really wish it got a theatrical release too even just to enjoy those beautiful landscapes. Heck, I've never seen Predator at cinema (I was a child when it came out in 1987) so I'd be totally up for a Predator/Prey double feature if any cinemas get to do such a thing. I've watched both movies a lot at home but absolutely would pay for tickets for the big screen. I did so with Aliens last year and it almost felt like watching the movie again for the first time. Seeing Ripley in Power Loader vs the Alien Queen really huge in front of me was awesome. :)
John McTiernan directed Die Hard, Die Hard With a Vengeance, The Hunt for Red October, The 13th Warrior, and The Medicine Man as well as Predator, Tara.
I worked as a commercial and industrial electrician and we had a camera made by the same company who made the camera for the movie. The cool part is they supplied the program to make the screen look like the movie. The rifle with the grenade launcher is an M16 with an M203 40mm grenade launcher. A very real weapon still carried today. Jesse Ventura was the first person to fire the mini gun as a hand held weapon. The actor who plays Billy had a bodyguard, not to protect him but to protect people from him. He had a temper. The actor who is blown up in the truck is in Predator 2, he is the leader in the first big fire fight. The pilot at the end is the Predator actor. Arnold insisted on a rewrite of the ending. He said there was no way he could physically fight the Predator so he had to out think it.
Best thing about this movie is how it doesn't devolve in a big punch up. It's a primal cat and mouse game between too animals fulfilling the desire in the back of their lizard brains. To kill and survive. I love how Arnie is on the back foot the entire movie.
5:25 The spaceship coming to Earth was a last minute thing added by the studio if memory serves. Arguably the movie would have a more suspenseful plot if the audience didn't have that nugget already.
The movies don't tell you this, but the predators, or the "yautja", are an honoroble warrior race that has a code of honor. They don't flee, if they are losing they activate a bomb that kills themselves as well as their prey. They do not hunt the weak, such as pregnant women and children. Only hunt those who can defend themselves. Breaking these rules will result in the other predators hunting him/her.
@@philthemovieguy81they generally hunt beings/cultures that are already accustomed to war. The Predator didn’t bring violence to Earth. Humans were already engaged in violence.
@@philthemovieguy81 They are hunters, like Indian Warriors they must go through an initiation to be accepted as Warriors worthy of the Yatua, there are many levels within these clans also there is the bad bloods, these are unworthy Yatua that broke the code or weren't worthy and were outcast, that's where you see mutant Yatua Bad Bloods experiment to make them stronger to become super Predators!
One if the best movies of the 80’s! I saw it the first time around 8 years old. I’ve watched it multiple times a year ever since 😂 Godspeed from Connecticut!
"I dont think those are gorillas guys." Guerillas. Rebels. Indirectly the reason both choppers were there. The tracker would know how to recognize the prints of human footwear, since that is why he's on that mission.
Aaron nailed it! I love how the movie shows how skilled the Predator is by first showing the audience how talented the group guys are as they take out the base resulting in no casualties. The Predator takes them all out so easily and it really hammers in how outmatched they truly are. Also love that this movie doesn't seem to waste a sing shot, even when staring into the trees. Arnold is like 6'2 and the actor in the Predator costume was 7'3.
The Predator was originally designed as a ninja lizard from what I've heard. It looks cool ngl but it doesn't look as threatening as the redesign predator. I think they were still using the lizard design until the final battle because there's an image of the lizard next to Dillion without his arm. This is why in some scenes with the invisible predator, it looks slender and has long arms. While the lizard design was scrapped in the first movie, it was used later on for some type of lore or armor pieces for a video game
From his wiki; "Jesse Ventura (born James George Janos; July 15, 1951) is an American politician, actor, and retired professional wrestler. After achieving fame in the World Wrestling Federation, *he served as the 38th governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003.* He was elected governor with the Reform Party and is the party's only candidate to win a major government office."
Funny Fact: The actor who played poncho got in just as great of shape as the rest of the cast but he got decimated by mosquito and ant bites so that’s why he’s covered up for most of the movie. Which is hilarious because when you think about it from his perspective, he’s going to be in a high octane action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers, who are two of the most perfect physical specimens in human history, and he couldn’t really show much of his body because he got decimated by bug bites.😂😂
The premise is quite unique, the team are facing all the strengths the team rely on but extrapolated further. Billy is the most alike of all, even when he can feel death coming, his honour prevents him behaving like prey.
3:11 BEST HANDSHAKE IN MOVIE HISTORY. Also one of the greatest movies ever made! It perfectly takes a team of peak 80’s testosterone fueled badasses and has them be picked off one by one like teenagers in a slasher movie. The Predator himself is one of the greatest designed characters in film history as well, created by the legendary Stan Winston. This movie also has the most Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes in a single movie.
It’s almost a spin on “The most dangerous game” the classic and very often rehashed/parodied story of thw hunter who hunted humans for sport. The predators simply come to earth for a hunting trip. Seeking the most dangerous game to hunt, humans.
Fun Fact: on the set, everyone was working out in secret. The cast was teasing each other about how much/little time they spent in the gym. So rather than work out together they all started training individually so they could pretend they didn't need as much time in the gym as everyone else.
@@alexp601 Carl Weathers I think started saying he didn't even need to work out to stay as big as they were. Arnie also told the tailor for costumes to lie to Jesse Ventura and say Jesse's arms were bigger so that he could show him up in a flex off lol.
The Yautja are such a cool species. Galactic Sports hunters who just want to hunt the most dangerous game. Can't wait for you guys to get to Prey. Aside from this movie, Prey is my favorite in the franchise and the best of the bunch.
FYI, in the case of "Billy", he was willing to come face to face with the Predator, he was drawing first blood when he cut his chest because he is a warrior and was not letting the Predator get the pleasure of doing so, he was preparing himself to die facing it and he was a true warrior. The backstory is that he was a tracker for his military teams he had been part of, because he's part native American and was trained to be in tune with nature, with more fine senses and be a tracker with his people and used that knowledge in battle and in the military, also because of being a warrior he had that code of honor and was willing to die on his feet facing the enemy and fighting instead of running and hiding.
Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in The Running Man the same year as this, while his former rival Sylvester Stallone starred in Over the Top. Director John McTiernan followed this up with Die Hard, The Hunt For Red October and Last Action Hero. After this are three sequels, a prequel and two crossover films. The actor playing Blaine, Jesse Ventura, served in the U.S. Navy, was a pro wrestler and served as governor of Minnesota, while the actor playing Poncho also served in the military during Vietnam. This has the same composer as Back To The Future
I love this movie, and these two. Tara just vibes so well with everyone she reacts with, but I love her and Aaron, or her and Roxy the most (for duo reactions).
42:18 "They indicated that, when trapped, the creature activated a self-destruct device that destroyed enough rain forest to cover THREE HUNDRED city blocks."
36:28 That sound the predator makes is Peter Cullen (Voice of Optimus Prime) mimicing the sound he heard a horseshoe crab make once when it was stuck on its back.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is the King Of Badass Line’s , he has somany great line’s in this movie , everytime i hear him say “Dillon , you son of a bitch” and “Get to the choppa” i just get goosebumps. He is by far the best action star of all time , no disrespect to Jean Claude Van Damme , Sylvester Stallone and all the other’s , but there’s just something really special about Arnold Schwarzenegger , his action scene’s and the delivery of his line’s is really really , like really something.
Classic movie. The legendary Stan Winston created the iconic Predator alien. He's the guy who did the endoskeletons in Terminator 1 and 2, the puppets of the T1000 in T2, the alien queen in Aliens, and the dinosaur animatronics in Jurassic Park. All these are just a few of the iconic characters he created.
Because reactors tend to focus so much on building to the very mediocre (I'm being kind - they're bad) AvP movies, I worry they'll skip the very competent sequel Predators... Make sure you all watch that one after Predator 1&2
Imagine these 2 putting the same effort and enthusiasm into a Jackie Chan impression the same exact way they impersonated Arnold Schwarzenegger. Why is it ok to do a stereotypical impersonation of one foreign actor and not another? It's not, bc they portray themselves as progressive and forward thinking, so there's no justifying it without being hypocritical.
The chopper pilot is Keven Peter Hall, who played the Predator. They gave him this roll, so that we could see him outside of the suit. Stan Winston did the creature effects. Peter Cullen provides the Predator's voice and vocalizations.
I'm glad you two will be watching the Predator movies. They're an absolute blast. I'm also glad you noticed that the Predators have a code. They don't typically attack people unless they're seen as a threat or a worthy opponent to do battle with.
This is like the movie of my childhood omg, I watched it so many times with my dad I couldn’t even count! An absolute classic and one of my favourite movies!
Some of the best elements of Predator: Hunting Grounds is the lore side of it, Dutch getting debriefed, everything that came after this, the progression through Predator 2, Predators all being part of it, etc.
''If it bleeds, we can kill it.'' is an all time one liner for me. As well as, Arnold's war cry as he lights the bonfire. Timeless action classic that leaves you yearning for proper alien/predator sequels like prey...
Kevin Peter Hall hall played the Predator and was 7'2". He replace Jean-Claude Van Damme who at only 5'9" was determined not to be physically imposing enough against the rest of the male cast who were all at least over 6 feet tall.
really appreciate you guys. enjoyed watching this classic along with you. really needed something like this today, took my mind off things for a bit. ty.
The creators of stranger things used a lot of the characters names and references from predator. Billy, Hawkins, Jim hopper etc. And blain, Jessie Ventura look was the one based Jim hoppers look in the show.
I love how this movie starts off as a generic 80s action movie, and then that construct gets torn down. Brilliant. Also, the GOAT, Jesse Ventura, is in this. A national treasure.
@Tara "if it bleeds, it leads" Was a quote from William Randolph Hearst from the 1890s, mainly used to describe the journalistic tendency for shocking stories being run more prominently than tame ones. It was also recently quoted in the 2014 Jake Gyllenhaal movie "Nightcrawler," and is also the name of a song on the soundtrack.
Honestly, Aaron is my favorite reactor. Don’t know why…..maybe he’s the most the most honest reactor! And I like both these reactors together! They are great together!
One of my favorite films! The actor Kevin Peter Hall, standing at 7’ 2” did a fantastic job bringing the Predator to life. I watch this film a couple times each year. I hope you both react to Prey (2022) and Predators (2010) which are the two best follow up films of this franchise, IMO. RIP Carl Weathers, KPH, and Sonny Landham!

@@glenharrison983Oh really? Never knew that.
Whoever had the idea to mash-up slasher movies with roided out action movies deserves a Nobel prize
The "original" Aliens? There is only one Aliens, and it was the second film in the franchise.
@@halamander1112 did my choice of wording really upset you that much? I know there’s only one Aliens.
@OrionInSpace I don't think you did. If you did, you would have simply written "Aliens" as opposed to "the original Aliens". Unless adding needless and potentially confusing text to your sentences is a hobby of yours.
@@halamander1112 lmao grow the fuck up😂😂
Ehhh no. Judgment day is the best. Aliens and this film fight for 2nd
"If it bleeds, we can kill it.", that line comes back in "Prey".
That's called a "spoiler"
@@Carn_Is_Done😂😂😂😂😂😂
Did you know they had to hire security to allegedly protect the cast from Sonny Landham as he was absolutely nuts
ive heard this, iam pretty sure he didn't give arnie a hard time!
It's not allegedly it's documented in the making of stuff.
when Poncho throws a ball at Hawkins while he is not looking is meant to nod at "the dorkiest" guy in the group is still badass
John McTiernan directed Die Hard, Die Hard With a Vengeance, The Hunt for Red October, The 13th Warrior, and The Medicine Man as well as Predator, Tara.
Billy wanted to fight the Predator on his own terms. He cut himself to deny the Predator "first blood"
Kevin Peter Hall was not only the Predator, he was the helicopter pilot at the end.
Bill Paxton is the only person to have been killed by Predator, Alien, and Terminator. Just cool movie stuff.
Lance Henriksen also
@@markcox9243 yup people always forget Lance Henricksen, and he's Bill Paxton's vampire Master in Near Dark.
Except it's debatable as to whether he died in Terminator
Such a huge star even when he wasn't the main character.

Billy was denying the Predator of the Honor of "Drawing First Blood". Among Native American Warrior Clans this was the ultimate Diss.
"I ain't got time to bleed" is right up there with, "Pain don't hurt"
Best thing about this movie is how it doesn't devolve in a big punch up. It's a primal cat and mouse game between too animals fulfilling the desire in the back of their lizard brains. To kill and survive. I love how Arnie is on the back foot the entire movie.
fun fact the helicopter pilot at the end is predator actor kevin peter hall
One of Arnolds best. SO MANY AMAZING QUOTES came from this movie..
5:25 The spaceship coming to Earth was a last minute thing added by the studio if memory serves. Arguably the movie would have a more suspenseful plot if the audience didn't have that nugget already.
Imagine wich would have been the biggest plot 360, this or from dusk till dawn.
That’s great insight. What I still question is if they’re so honorable why they even come to earth and start violence.
This movie is the soundtrack to my childhood. I’ve watched this movie hundreds of times “get to the choppa!!!”
Arnold refused to participate in Predator 2 because he demanded a high salary but the studio said no and he resigned from being in the second film.
Yeah, they rewrote his character and cast Gary Busey in the role Arnie would've played instead.

“You’re hit man, you’re bleeding!”
“I ain’t got time to bleed.”
“Really?….got time to duck?”😂
TESTOSTERONE: THE MOVIE!!!
"I dont think those are gorillas guys."
Guerillas. Rebels. Indirectly the reason both choppers were there.
The tracker would know how to recognize the prints of human footwear, since that is why he's on that mission.
I love how they jumpscare Tara any chance they get and it always works 😂
One of the best SciFi action movies ever. I can watch 80s action Arnold on repeat.
If I'm not mistaken John Mctiernan did a little movie called Die Hard.
Shhh. That's a secret. :P
"Billy and his big knife going to work"
Predator as a bigger One lol
Aaron nailed it! I love how the movie shows how skilled the Predator is by first showing the audience how talented the group guys are as they take out the base resulting in no casualties. The Predator takes them all out so easily and it really hammers in how outmatched they truly are. Also love that this movie doesn't seem to waste a sing shot, even when staring into the trees. Arnold is like 6'2 and the actor in the Predator costume was 7'3.
Mud is actually still a really effective way to hide from thermal imaging btw
The Predator was originally designed as a ninja lizard from what I've heard. It looks cool ngl but it doesn't look as threatening as the redesign predator. I think they were still using the lizard design until the final battle because there's an image of the lizard next to Dillion without his arm. This is why in some scenes with the invisible predator, it looks slender and has long arms. While the lizard design was scrapped in the first movie, it was used later on for some type of lore or armor pieces for a video game
Yeah, it did look silly, they nailed it with second design though
FUN FACT: The actor playing the pilot at the end of the movie, is the same guy who played The Predator.
Stranger Things borrowed from Predator: Jim Hopper’s name and the town of Hawkins was named after the Predator’s first victim from Dutch’s team.
Thats an easter egg i didnt spot
From his wiki;
"Jesse Ventura (born James George Janos; July 15, 1951) is an American politician, actor, and retired professional wrestler.
After achieving fame in the World Wrestling Federation, *he served as the 38th governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003.*
He was elected governor with the Reform Party and is the party's only candidate to win a major government office."
And a genuinely nice guy.
As soon as I saw Aaron and Predator, I was IN!!
Him and John on Blues Brothers was one of your BEST videos. 💜
That’s not a fun fact that’s a corny fact and your the only corny ass laughing about it
The premise is quite unique, the team are facing all the strengths the team rely on but extrapolated further.
This is one of my favorite movies. The whole cast did amazing in this movie and definitely one of Arnold’s best movies.
The weirdest trivia about this movie is that Claude Van Damme was originally cast as the Predator
Didn't jcvd do some of the stunts?
It’s almost a spin on “The most dangerous game” the classic and very often rehashed/parodied story of thw hunter who hunted humans for sport. The predators simply come to earth for a hunting trip. Seeking the most dangerous game to hunt, humans.
Fun Fact: on the set, everyone was working out in secret. The cast was teasing each other about how much/little time they spent in the gym. So rather than work out together they all started training individually so they could pretend they didn't need as much time in the gym as everyone else.
And Arnie told them that he woke up extra early to work out, just so others would wake up even earlier? I think I heard that also.
I still find it funny I can say my governor called himself a "Sexual Tyrannosaurus." in a film.
I love this movie, and these two. Tara just vibes so well with everyone she reacts with, but I love her and Aaron, or her and Roxy the most (for duo reactions).
Predator 2 is so underrated
Agreed imo it’s the second best film in the franchise after the first of course
42:18 "They indicated that, when trapped, the creature activated a self-destruct device that destroyed enough rain forest to cover THREE HUNDRED city blocks."
"Uh why is she hot?!" 😂😂 Classic Tara lol
the heli pilot at the end is Kevin Peter Hall, who plays also the predator, regretly died a few years later

John McTiernan's next movie was Die Hard, then Hunt for Red October, talk about a run of movies!

You guys should check out the conjuring movies! ❤
Aaron and Tara just ended racism with that handshake
"I ain't got time to bleed." This is one of my favorite movies. I'm glad you guys are watching it.
Because reactors tend to focus so much on building to the very mediocre (I'm being kind - they're bad) AvP movies, I worry they'll skip the very competent sequel Predators... Make sure you all watch that one after Predator 1&2
Originally the Predator was supposed to look like a giant ant, played by Jean Claude Van Damme. One could only imagine that concept.
Well said. I never thought about it like that, but yeah, still doing the Arnie impression in this day and age is kinda crazy.
Hahaha. I would love to see them try to pull that impression off. They would never. The comment section in that video would be hilarious.
The guy who played the Predator , Kevin Peter Hall , was 7 ft tall very tall.
RIP . Kevin Peter Hall.
How can you possibly even pretend you don't know what a Predator looks like?. Does anyone really fall for this schtick?.
The chopper pilot is Keven Peter Hall, who played the Predator. They gave him this roll, so that we could see him outside of the suit.
Stan Winston did the creature effects.
Peter Cullen provides the Predator's voice and vocalizations.

This is like the movie of my childhood omg, I watched it so many times with my dad I couldn’t even count! An absolute classic and one of my favourite movies!
Predator is my favorite alien film. Love everything about it.
My favourite movie of all time too
Some of the best elements of Predator: Hunting Grounds is the lore side of it, Dutch getting debriefed, everything that came after this, the progression through Predator 2, Predators all being part of it, etc.
The jump scares at Tara's expense were hilarious 😂
really appreciate you guys. enjoyed watching this classic along with you. really needed something like this today, took my mind off things for a bit. ty.
Glad to see yall watching Predator, one of my favorite Arnold movies. Yall need to watch COMMANDO, LAST ACTION HERO, and RUNNING MAN!
@Tara "if it bleeds, it leads"
Was a quote from William Randolph Hearst from the 1890s, mainly used to describe the journalistic tendency for shocking stories being run more prominently than tame ones.
