I just wanna say, thank you for making this video.. that is my father, Kevin Peebles, in the video and he passed away in 2020 from Cancer. When I’m missing him I watch this video and brings back lots of great memories of building pools with him. ❤😇

Hi Kaylie, Your father was a worker and craftsmen. He put those pools together like hotcakes 😊. It was sad to hear he passed and I’m sure he is watching over, he was a great man.

We bought our sheet-metal pool from a friend. I believe we might be the third owners. It was a little bit rusty on the bottom but still went up just fine, I think these metal pools last a super long time. We have had no issues with ours whatsoever. I personally like how the cushion and the vinyl liner feel under your feet over a plaster pool. Much more pleasant. I couldn’t be happier with this type of pool, I plan on keeping it until I can’t maintain it myself anymore.

Never backfill to the side of the pool otherwise when or if you let the water out you’ll be removing the offsetting weight to the soil back filled and the pool will be like a crushed soda can when the weight of the dirt rips through it.

Good video for any do it yourself er out there. I have a question. I've learned that placing rocks that high around a steel pool will cause premature rusting. Not saying all situations as some good drainage areas don't really matter. Perhaps this is a good shed off area or that is rubber mulch that looks like rocks around the finished pool? I Install pools in Massachusetts and we do lot's of resin and aluminum construction. I'd also like to say the installers here did a great job installing the pool. cheers!

I used to install pools 5 days a week with one other guy. It only costs about $80 - $130 to rent a skid steer/ bobcat. It’s definitely worth renting as the pools pay a decent amount of money. These guys are good are what they do and that’s 100% how to do it. The only thing I have to say is I don’t like the foam cove/ corners that they use. Believe it or not it’s better to make a cover out of dirt and pack it down with a tamper and water.

If you need to file an insurance claim for your pool, you'll likely be denied coverage if the bottom track is entirely covered by rocks or dirt. The left side of this pool looks probably ok, but the right side is an easy out for insurance to say "naw dawg. we aint gonna reimburse your collapsed pool because you put rocks and shit all up the right side of it". Happened to me, and happened to a close friend. Mind you we're in Canada, so maybe it's different.

    Total cost ? $2,500 pool,sand filter,
and labor! Don’t put up with the bullshit!

    • @Magnusboi
      @Magnusboi 4 роки тому

Went great 👍 Been enjoying the pool tremendously! The online pool store I ordered from now is sold out of all their pools. Since the virus people have been putting pools in their yards. I’d say get online next year like February or March when people aren’t thinking of pools and order one ! Go to The Pool Factory online. Then I’d go to a local pool store and strike up a conversation with their pool installer like I did and see if he does side jobs. It’s worth the effort
      Good Luck!

We just put our own pool in earlier this summer. Bought from The Pool Factory over the winter, then could not find a contractor willing to install it this spring. Couldn't even get a damned quote. & What a pain in the ass it was! SO. MANY. ROCKS. So many! 😔 😔
Anyway we put those patio blocks in under the posts just like you did here, per our installation instructions. Got the pool installed, filled, everything is great, mostly.
Then I saw a video of an install & the guy said he would NEVER put blocks under the posts because of "frost heave." Showed pictures of the concrete blocks pushed up & out of the ground & the resulting wrinkled, creased, mangled pool walls the next spring. So now we're paranoid. It's not much of an issue in most southern states but we live in Southeastern Pennsylvania, which can get pretty frigid in winter. Is it something we should worry about?

So at every rail connection there should be an upright beam correct? On my pool theres 11 connections but I only have 10 beams? Obviously, I'm missing a leg right or am I doing something wrong or am I just dumb🤣?

How you really make a pool first you figure out where the center is with respecting the lenght from the fence and the house than you put screw driver in the ground than you take a mesuring tape to the center and lets say its a 18 feet pool someone holds the tape at 9 feet with someone with a sod cutter is a bit past the 9 feet to leave space for the stone dust later on. Than you take a rototiller to level the pool with rakes and making sure you make a bowl you raise where its high to bring it where its low than you check with the transit if its closed to leveled arround and if its not fix it once tha'ts done you spread stone dust arround the pool and hose it down with water once thats done you take the vibratin plate and use it on the stone dust. Than you take the mesure tape to the midle screw driver and at 9 feet someone takes a screw driver at 9 feet to make a line arround the pool on the stone dust thats been plated than one person digs a straight line from the center to the filtration and digs a round hole for the drain put the drain leveled and use stone dust instead of earth and recompact it with earth on the pipe except where the mesurements will be and works on the filtration while the other group of 2 people check what height you will use with the leveling transit and put stone dust arround the pool at that level you wet the mesurements and if needed spread the redt of the pool with stone dust or sand and use thd vribrating plate in the pool without touching the mesurements make sure you leave a bit of stone dust to fix where the wheel barrels will pass than you can start brining in the sand while someone uses the rake to level it arround and bring enough sand to have 3 piles of sand after the raking is done than place the tracks on the stone dust place a bungy between where each leg is supposed to be and wooden planks of wood on the sand arround the pool make sure you left the vibrating plate in the pool you can bring the wall on the plank of wood and start rolling it place a bungy on the wall except at the begining and last one than once its rolled shake the wall towards the end if theres missing s some to close it and if needed use a screw driver to close the wall than drill the top at hand tight with the guybon the other side keeps his foot where the leg of the pool is supposed to be put the 2 last bunhys than the midle and than the last one at the buttom on the outside someone drills all thr legs arround the pool except where you need to drill inside the pool both guys check the mesurements leg to leg on the wall making sure its 18 feet everywhere to make sure its a circle than finish drilling from buttom to top tight while the other guy starts shoveling to cover the tracks without moving the wall and where you drill make a small pile next to it ones finish drilling put 3 or 4 lares of duck tape and drilk the last leg where you drilled and put the plastic of the skimer with scotch tape on the inside and put the shotvac in the hole next to the skimer with scotch tape on the outside making sure its not low enough to suck the sand than rake to the wall by pulling and rake sideways toward s the wall while hosing down the sand with water than with your foot flating it arround the pool than start the vibrating plate arround the pool to the center wkth the other fuy behind fixing the small lines with his foot make sure you walk like a duck than when finish plating 2 people from the inside pass the plate to the people on the outside to a wheel barrel fix the small mess done from passing the plate and broom the inside towards the wall now they can pass the geo liner to place in the pool from the center unfold it rince it with water and jump against the wall small bumps with fix the lines everywhere and with a exacto knife cut the circle for the drain than pass the liner and place in the middle flip itbinto 4 not a perfect round like they did and start plasing the liner arround the pool one guy going left and the other going right streatch the liner if needed usuallu depends on the sunlight and place the bungy on it than you can put the tracks arround the pool and put the top plates once thats done one guy can finish with the drain use the knife again remove the scotch tape on the drain and the skimer drill it make sure the legs are straight before drilling the tops when you have 2 tops you can jump over to the other side when the drain is finished you can put the hose with scotch tape to fill the pool once you screwed every the only thing thats left is remove the shoft vac when theres enough water and put the thing that shoots water sideways forgot what its called in english. If you are nearby comeback for the shotvac but if the pool is far bring a pump with 2 totes to put enough water so you can leave with the shotvac. You can turn on the shot vac after you put the top tracks

Good job fellas on building the pool but looked like you were struggling rolling out that wall. Coming from someone building above ground pools for 24 years, I'm gonna give you the best invention ever on rolling out a wall!!! A good old simple kids sit and spin!! Put your wall in middle of pool and you can roll it out one handed my man!

Hi Joe same here been building pools for 25 years. I will have to give that one a try. I build my own unit using two round pieces of aluminum connected by a heavy duty lazy Susan. It worked great for this past season so I patented it. Perhaps you'll see it in the next few years. But than again a sit and spin is so crafty and cheap, great Idea! cheers

Me and my husband and sons put up ours after watching this video a lot of times, yes it was a lot of work but it was well worth it. I’ve had the pool up for almost 4 years now. And I absolutely love it. I look forward to every summer I spend a whole lot of time in it, and once you get the hang of the chemicals it’s easy to keep clean and clear.

@@nevada5305 let's see that was back in 2018, one day and Sand delivered and spread it out, put down the tracking, then unrolled the metal siding put it in, secured everything put in screws. The next day laid down foam padding on top sand, then foam edging, put inliner, tried our best to smooth out the wrinkles, then water. So couple of days. I still have it up in 2023, it is still beautiful.
