    • @hrbacon

      The hydrostatic pressure really doesn't do anything to aid in filtration. He just moved the typical sand filter to inside the pool, making it more difficult to change in the future and impossible to backwash. But it works, and better than my external sand filter. I'm guessing the volume of sand is such that it'll probably outlast the life of the concrete pool, meaning he can just replace it when he re-drains the pool next.

The point was more that it's achievable for a civilian despite being on an amusement-park level of size and craftsmanship.

      @@saiyamoru "Crazy-millionaire-mansion money" is literally what we are talking about here. This man is clearly a multi-millionaire (I'd say 8-figure net worth minimum), with enough money to not just own a large home on a large piece of property, but also to spend on this pool. Not to mention the time and energy that he has clearly put into it, which is only possible because of his wealth.

    • @saiyamoru
      @saiyamoru 6 місяців тому

      @@TheSimianDeity idk why you people are just showing up after three weeks to nitpick over what constitutes 'crazy' amounts of money but the point is that this is an amusement-park-level attraction and it was pulled off by someone whose net worth isn't that of Universal Studios. He also did plenty of the work on it himself or with the aid of his family, which doesn't suggest a guy who's oozing money out of every pore. As for the property value - bruh, the man lives in Covington, Tennessee, right outside of Memphis. Have you SEEN the property values of that town? $250,000 for a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with a huge yard. On Zillow right now. Owning property doesn't make you part of the 1% in that part of the country.

    The main question I'd have for him is if he'd considered a pond and why he preferred a huge pool. Ponds are more complicated, getting the balance right with plants and fish, but at that size it's easier and it avoids the cost of using pounds of chlorine daily. While it's extremely rare to have a pool this size at a private residence, ponds this size are much more common. Regular testing and work to make sure they're safe to swim in doesn't sound like more work and expense than a pool this large.
    But it is cool that he built an actual pool. Different vibe, different water, better for different things. Unlike myself, he grew up swimming in a pool frequently. So I understand that he loves pools. What he built is neat! I love the DIY spirit and the filter system is clever! The graphic really helped me understand it.
    So what happened when he needed to change all the water? Did he pump it all out and pour it down the drain to the municipal sewer or what?
    Thanks for the video! I appreciate the effort that went into it. It's a great presentation of the pool.

    What awesome project! I'm impressed, said he had the idea and then followed it through to the end. Goodness knows it would have been a lot of time, effort and money! Not everyone. would have got. through to the end. and continue to maintain it like he does. I wish I was his neighbour!

    I waited until I was in my mid 60's to build a swimming pool and wished I had done it when we built our home in 1989. It is no where as big as this beauty, but it is enclosed with a nice sitting TV area & solar heated. I do love all the rock work around your pool and the sand bottom. That is a super great touch. Shalom
