Your assessment of the RF01 is spot on. When I'm loose and confident I'm ripping my shots but when I'm tight and tentative it feels like a piece of rebar in my hand. The more I play with it, the more I love it.
Im the opposite, in matches that approach is never going to work out for me. I prefer a racket that helps me when im stiff and works spectacularly when Im loose and with great feel.
@rbarreira2 well its pretty obvious probably but I use the new Aero 100, 300 grams. But I started palying 4 years ago and so that ease of use is appealong to me. I believe for long term players the rf 01 will be apealing in reverse way than my apprach is if you know what I mean
I feel you... It's literally been raining on and off for 4 straight months now where I live. Either it's raining or it's so hot and humid I don't even want to go outdoors (and indoors in super expensive...)
After play testing a lot of rackets I landed on the Radical MP and I absolutely love it. As an intermediate player I feel like it gives me the perfect compromise of power, control and forgiveness where I don't have to hit the ball perfectly all the time but when I do it does exactly what I want it to.
I really think Head needs to change the names of their rackets. Speed, Radical, Boom, don’t fit the character of those rackets. The names appear to be chosen as marketing buzz words with no consideration for what type of racket it actually is.
The problem is that they lose their identity. The Radical came out in the mid 90's for Agassi and was named because it was indeed radical at the time. Similarly, the speed came out in the late 2000's and was supposed to be a "fast" racket. As the manufacturers try to innovate, they try too hard and the rackets lose their identity.
Thanks for the effort into putting this together, no easy feat. Just picked up near new Blade 100 and completely agree how good an allrounder it is. If the Speed MP is sneaking into the power list this could have made it too, but get why it’s in this list. Been amazed how easy it is to play with.
The velvet matte paint job on the Speed MP isn’t really that bad. It feels like crap new but over the months the paint develops a natural sheen coating from sweat and oil from your hands touching it to the point that it no longer feels like rubber.
Amazingly detailed video. The only snag is, now you've put my precious Speed Pro in the B tier, I'm lying awake at night and thinking about selling it. Had an interesting experience recently - I've got two old Prestige Microgel MPs (both given to me by a coach) and I pulled one out the other day, as the strings on my Speed Pro have frozen. I loved the Prestige - ended up hitting the longest, heaviest forehands - loads of plush feel and control. So much for new tech ...
Agree more with this list than the previous list. I’d put Rad MP and PS X in tier B but otherwise I agree with everything. I play with Pro Staff97 v13 and Boom Pro 2022. Planing to get a Percept 97 which seems to embody the control and feel of a PS97 with the spin and larger sweetspot of the BP.
Hey Luca how do you feel about percept 97D? I think plays very similarly compared to Gravity Pro, so I would really appreciate some comments and thoughts from you
The philosophy behind this tier list is very wired. I recently mainly play with RF 01 pro and Shift Pro. I spend 80% of time playing with the RF when I am playing casually. When I play a match which I WANT to win, I use my Shift 100%! I do not know why "indenty crisis" can be a bad thing for a racket, since you are not expecting to pick a different racket for each type of shots. RF is FUN to use when you are attacking relentlessly, but it is one of the worst rackets I have used while defending.
I understand what you're saying. To be honest I look at these tier lists more as an opportunity to talk about all the rackets in one video and ranking them is obviously going to stoke some interest. I'll address the whole tier list concept in Part 2. Now specifically for those two rackets, I completely understand what you're saying, the Shift Pro is certainly more of a safety blanket, BUT, there are other rackets that I think are better if that's what you're looking for. Like you said, the RF 01 Pro is tough to defend with but if you're looking for that relentless, attacking racket, there aren't many better. So I think the RF 01 Pro is relatively better at what it does than the Shift. Like you said, though, "identity crisis" may not actually be a bad thing because that's also what makes the 99 Pro unique. It's the fact that it is a consistent, fairly forgiving, 18x20, but has way more spin than you would expect. I just think that that bit of unique playability is a bit too niche but for people like you (and actually me - I play really well with the Shift 99 Pro), it works very well. Hopefully that makes sense.
Nothing on my end but there's starting to be more info out there. I'll know more in the coming weeks. I am VERY worried it may be a racket that's not available in Canada.
Thinking about buying the Gravity MP. Tested it with Luxilon Adrenalin and really liked it! But i also feelt some Elbow Pain after hitting with it for 2 Hours. Didnt have that problems with other raquets. With so many people saying its so comfortable i am really confused. I tested the Speed MP 2024 with same string and had less arm problems but the 330 SW really isn‘t for me in terms of manuverability. Maybe i will just buy the Speed MP 2022 with its lower SW but i don’t have the possibility to test it. Did anybody else had elbow issues from playing with the Gravity MP? Do you think it will be better with a softer Poly oder MLT?
Interesting and thanks for doing that In my tennis bag at this moment keeping three racquets and love for different reasons all of them: Yonex VCore 98 Head Extreme Pro Wilson Shift 99 👌👌👌

only a handful of people in the world can play competitive tennis with that racket today, it was a great racket, but pretty much useless today, even Murray changed to a 100 inches racket in order to be competitive, imagine an amateur player...
Thank you a lot for your great videos, very helpful!! I’m an intermediate player planning to get a new all-rounder racket, and I’m confusing whether I pick the Ezone 100 or Blade V9 100, any help with the choice?
Add service reviews of rackets!!! Luca Epic Stuff you cover. Would Love you to add Serving review insight to all the rackets you cover.. For instance the Precept 97 feels super connected on grond strokes ;but feels a little stiff when serving. I don't get the same movement like with Babalot Aero or Pure Strike
Hi everyone, I would like to hear your opinion. What would be your choice between the PS97, RF01, Shift 99 and Blade 98 16x19 for a player who plays tournaments on clay courts and in a city of high altitude? One-handed backhand, eastern forehand grip. angles and go to the net. 1.75m tall Thanks!
Suggestion for the store. Extra length rackets like the Solinco Whiteout would be well received because they're a pain to order from the States. Suggestion for Luca... Yonex, Precept, Regna are 3 separate companies from best information. What's up with that. Why not just one big happy family? Strange goings on over there lately. Can you give us a sense of Yonex's methodology for doing this, like besides more money??
@@jlparcerisaI agree with you, firstly I had some problems with the Radical MP cause I always play with ton of spin but after I change my stroke a little bit I find out that this is a really good racket though🎉
I owned both and really enjoyed them. The 100D provided a very consistent ball flight and solid feel. I did feel like it had less spin potential and as strings got old balls kept sailing a tad. Also, I have a OHBH and the 97 felt better for that stroke. On flat serves both were similar, but on spin serves the increased maneuverability of 97 helped me a tad. Neither is great on defense, but I felt I had an easier time flipping up a deep topspin ball with 97. Again, both very solid but my game just meshed better with 97.
The 100D is a crazy racket that I only briefly played with because we don't carry it but it is MIGHTY. That's the word I would use to describe it, super stable, super controlled but also plenty of power. Like a more powerful Gravity Pro but I find it harder to use. The Percept 97 is a much more traditional control oriented and much MUCH more maneuverable.
I have the shift pro, blade 98 16 by 19 and the pro staff 97. I really like the Shift it's one of the best rackets on clay court. So much Spin and the 18 by 20 string pattern isn't bad when you playing with it, because of the very cool technology...
I fully agree on the Prestige line needing to have updated the racket to something more akin to the Gravity. I'm waiting on that Gravity 98. Any news on when they will be sold to the public? If they make the current Gravity pro into a 98 and 16x19 or 16x20 I'd be all over it.
Pretty sure it will be next year. The images of that Gravity Tour 98 reveal a new paint job, meaning that more than likely it will be released in the next cycle/version which will be next year. Head tends to update their rackets every two years and the current Gravity was released in 2023. It seems like only the Tour will be released as a 98 and not the Pro, so you might be waiting a while for the 98 Pro, although you could easily customise the Tour up to the Pro’s specs.
Hey Luca, what do you think about the Head Gravity Tour, i whould like to borrow one for testing, should i borrow the Gravity Pro also, because i think its too heavy for me. Or is there a big difference between the two except wheight?
Yeah the more I watch the more I may make the switch. The best racket I've ever played with was the Yonex Vcore Pro 97D/97H. Fantastic control rackets that are great for baseline or at the net. I've tried other rackets since looking for the same feel but at a lighter weight. This was the nail in the coffin, Percept 97 here I come.
Hi Luca! Thanks for your efforts I need a help please I am a beginning intermediate (not experienced intermediate) I adore Roger Federer I have a great affinity to Wilson Rackets I am using a babolat pure drive 2021 I hate its specs (I bought after a friend recommendation when I started the game) I am 40 years old I have elbow discomfort (not inflammation) I want to buy a wilson racket that can prioritize high levels of comfort and control but not compromizing the spin and power (because I am a big hitter) Which racket can suit me -Blade 98 16x19 -Blade 100 -RF 01 -RF 01 pro -Clash 100 V2 pro -Pro staff 97 V14 Also a question, which Wilson racket equals Head speed MP THANKS
I think this has a heavy control attack style bias. After demoing the pro 01 i switched to it which is turning out to be a pretty big mistake. It has a lower swingweight and weight than my previous racquet so this isnt a question of can i handle it. But what ive found is that the raquet doesnt handle defending very well. A lot of shots that were neutralizing defensive shots now float a little more. You mentioned the getting tight portion being a problem but thats a lot more important than you made it out to be. If a raquet harms you when you get tight that costs matches. Your base level is more important then when you play perfectly. Even attacking like its point click which is nice i can hit my spots. But all my hitting partners mention my ball is weaker. And a lot of times you need a heavy ball to open up the court for control. Sure its easier to beat weaker players as you have full control but i think some of these other aspects are getting overlooked mostly things like power and forgiveness.
I understand what you mean but the way I look at it, the RF 01 Pro is so good for that one style of play that I don't know what other rackets can compete with it there. Yes it's lacking defensively, but if you're looking for that offensive style of racket, it's probably the best right now.
This is ranking every control racket that u carry? Does that mean the higher the tier, the less user-friendly the rackets will be for beginners & intermediate players?
Another downside to the rubbery matte paint jobs is that they degrade over time and turn into a gooey mess. Then you have a racquet that's still totally fine but you don't want to touch it because it feels like a dead slug.
Why fixating on bashing Prestige Pro, which indeed is underpowered, when there is Prestige Tour which is 16x19 with a thicker beam, larger sweet spot and more power? And it’s 95 sq in play much larger albeit going fast through the air?
@@hirodkianikhah7511 I play-tested the v14 and did not like itt. I much prefer my v13. I was also impressed with the blade 98. I'd like to play-test the blade 100 L next.
Thanks for this list. Missing the Aero 98 (and the solinco white out). I would put them at least in A tier :). Shift 99 should go to B tier (just bought it). The latest PS97 disappointed a lot certainly compared to the RF97v13. I sold it so C for me. :) 😮
The Prestige Tour comes with a slightly thicker beam and a 16/19 string pattern providing easier access to power and spin. While it may fly under the radar, it‘s definitely worth a try. Even though it‘s not a classic Prestige, for me the best Prestige in many years!
I'm kinda shocked by your gradings of the Shift Pro and Pro Staff X as I play with both. Everyone I talk to seems to love them and they're very popular at my club
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver can’t emphasize enough of how shocked i am that my 3rd world country has it but canada doesn’t. how come you don’t have it there? do they just assume you will ship it over from the US?

Another downside to the rubbery matte paint jobs is that they degrade over time and turn into a gooey mess. Then you have a racquet that's still totally fine but you don't want to touch it because it feels like a dead slug.
I add another tear to my list with every loss
Rf01 with leadtape = S tier!!
What about the pure strike 100 16/20, great blend of control, power and spin. Fantastic racquet for advanced club players
We just don't carry it, unfortunately, so I haven't tried it.
ive enjoyed the yonex ezone so much
Where is the pure aero 98, thought you loved it ?
It's coming in part 2
just fell to my knees in the parking lot of Queens in New York City; Pro Staff X: "D"?! /s
😭 vivid imagery
Agrée with everything except the speed pro which absolutely must go back to A or S
How about extreme pro?
It's in Part 2!
You should do Prince racquets
Percept 97 needs a lot of weight added and low string tension to have any power
Agree, i didn't like it... 100 plays better for me
Pure Strike VS is much better
Why no Yonex Regna 98 on list? 😢
You didn’t specify with the TF40 if they were 18/20 or 16/19?
16x19, sorry. We don't carry the 18x20 right now.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I think 18x20 would have been A tier 🙂
Yes Yonex is S-tier 💙
Pure aero 98 for life!
I don't think we carry enough strings to do that right now.
I desperately wish the vcore 98 had any of the vcore 95 DNA
Why fixating on bashing Prestige Pro, which indeed is underpowered, when there is Prestige Tour which is 16x19 with a thicker beam, larger sweet spot and more power? And it’s 95 sq in play much larger albeit going fast through the air?
TF40 305 18M is an amazing stick with an awful name. Change my mind.
How if RF01 almost like Radical made S and Radical itself in B and C tire?
It's not almost like the Radical. I THOUGHT it was when I first saw it but it's nothing like it on court.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver ohk. I need to try RF01
Welp, here goes my sleep time but worth it
Blade 98 the best raquet of te yeat
Where would you put the Percept 97D and why?
We don't carry it, unfortunately, but an 18x20 Percept would be amazing, I'd imagine.
Bro I literally shifted yesterday and then saw the shift in d tier😤
Honestly, it's not a bad racket at all, I just think it's a bit limited but I'm not surprised it works really well for some people.
add the pure strike 100 please! Curious how it compares to the Speed mp and blade 100
I believe they don’t carry it unfortunately.
Where does the Head Extreme Pro fit in on the chart ?
It's coming in part 2!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver looking forward
What's your opinion of Pure Strike 100, 16/20?
I've never tried it, unfortunately.
In my opinion Pro staff 97 is the best🔥
@@hirodkianikhah7511 I play-tested the v14 and did not like itt. I much prefer my v13. I was also impressed with the blade 98. I'd like to play-test the blade 100 L next.
Why go from heavy 98-97 to 100L. It is a big change
what is your opinion on the Percept 100D? I like it so much would put it in my S series
Loooking at specs IT would land on same tier as speed pro
I've only briefly played with it but it's a beast of a racket
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver too heavy in your opinion? 18x19 is a cool string pattern i think
Thanks for this list. Missing the Aero 98 (and the solinco white out). I would put them at least in A tier :). Shift 99 should go to B tier (just bought it). The latest PS97 disappointed a lot certainly compared to the RF97v13. I sold it so C for me. :) 😮
radical mp 18x20?
We don't have access to it, unfortunately.
radical mp in C Tier hurts
please include iga 298 tempo in the next list
Can you add the blades pro here as well?
We don't have access to them in Canada
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver ahhh sad 😞
any comment on the t fight 315 iso?
Could you please include Wilson burn 100 or the other Dunlop lineups such as the sx300?
The other Dunlop rackets, for sure, but we don't carry the Burn.
Percept 97 is goated
where is pure aero😂
No head extreme tour?
It's coming in Part 2
How you gonna stop in the middle of vcores??
⏳
Prestige tour??
We don't carry it, unfortunately.
Honestly, if they work for you then great. They're still good rackets!
Why no pure aero??
They're coming in part 2
Why no v core 98? Or aero 98
They're coming in Part 2
what about blade 98 pro 16x19?
We don't have access to it in Canada, unfortunately.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver can’t emphasize enough of how shocked i am that my 3rd world country has it but canada doesn’t. how come you don’t have it there? do they just assume you will ship it over from the US?
TF40s should definitely move up
No Ezone 98 7th edition, one of the most popular racquets, why? Oh well, version 8 comes out next year and is supposed be a big change as opposed to just a cosmetic one.
It's coming in Part 2
The RF rackets are way too expensive at least here in Europe. I don't think they're the racket for me thankfully 😂
The poor Strike 16x20 always gets left out.
We just don't carry it, unfortunately.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver That makes sense. I sometimes forget, despite you always reminding the viewers, that you don't carry everything under the sun.
WOOO
