I can never understand why people bully others that are disfigured, disabled or have health conditions. life is already harder than normal for them, and bullying is what they chose to do. that's beyond disgusting and cruel. people who do that are unhappy and broken, hopefully karma teaches them to be kinder
My mom suffered a horrible third degree burn in a cooking accident. She is still undergoing treatment to this day to relieve the burns. It really taught me a lot of the burn community and what they experience day to day! I admire your courage and resilience.
One of the scariest, horrible things to go through , but she is still beautiful. Just going to say she is extremely lucky she still has a full head of hair and retained most of her features. I know it’s not more important than her life, but a lot of severe burn victims lose parts of their scalp and even the structure of their noses/lips etc. I also know having hair etc isn’t the most important thing, but I know it does a lot for self confidence .
Yeah I have seen many burn victims who have to wear pressurized masks for their skin and their features are much more altered. I would be interested to hear from someone like that or something similar like some who had sepsis where people can lose limbs and/or features like their nose and lips.
You shouldn’t call her beautiful because that perpetuates that woman are only useful or valid if they’re beautiful. She has value outside of beauty and that is what is important. She is a sister, mother daughter and a valuable member of society whose contributions come from her inside and her actions.

I'm quite shocked that she has had so many experiences with people treating her differently. It's just terrible that some people have the capacity to be so flat out cruel.
i know she has alot of scars in comparison to me because i only have a couple of injury scars and a few surgery scars but i think this advice still rings true for ppl with more scars than me or more severe scars or whatever.. i dont feel weird or worry about hiding scars. i accept them as part of me, they just show what ive been through, what ive overcome. wear them proudly and love yourself 💜
I would love for people with ataxia to be represented in a video like this. My mom has ataxia and she has very low self-esteem because of it. And it’s hard to get somebody that has ataxia therapy because of the speech impediments that happen making it difficult for people to understand her. But I think having some form of representation in society or even a video would be nice for her to see her experience.

I’ve always been curious about what being burned would feel like. I knew prior to watching that you wouldn’t feel pain because your nerves are burnt but thats it. It’s crazy to me that you can literally swallow fire while being burned and still remember that feeling decades later

I got two burned scars on both of my legs, and it really made me insecure with myself. I haven't wear anything that shows the skin above my ankles since 2017. For now I'm just patiently waiting for the day where I finally graduated from college so I can work to get my own money and do some plastic surgery to hide these scars I got. To see another burned victim who already came to acceptance with their condition like her really helped me to try better at accepting my own condition. And I really wish her only the best thing for the rest of her life.
My uncle got 3rd degree burns over 70% of his body and i didn't know till the family tea was spilled because he constantly wears jeans and long sleeve shirts to cover up, my father told me its to avoid constant questions and stares and to help him regulate body temperature since his nerves and skin was so damaged he feels cold more often than not.
please make a middle ground vid of typical athletes (like basketball players, soccer players, football, vball, baseball, swimming, etc.) against dancers (like comp dancers and ballerinas). one of the questions could be something like "are dancers athletes?", "is dance an art or a sport" yk stuff like that

A dear girl from my highschool, that I had the privilege of meeting and doing some classes with, passed away a year ago from a kitchen fire. She had such a sweet and loving soul. I remember one of the few times we talked, she told me that her life mission was to make people happy and help others. She sure did that. Everyone misses you dearly, Ana. Thank you for making such an impact on my life.
the story of the doctors made me so mad! Like people look up to you have faith on you to do your best for them and their families, and then you do that to your patients. What a shame
I can't wait for the social perspective of scars to switch from scary and gross to unique and interesting. Just like paint chips, dents and cracks on the walls of a home, scars tell a story. Each story unique to the person who has them and I just find that wholeheartedly interesting. I'm always eager to ask people how they got their scars because 9/10 they're embarrassed about it and when they have someone who looks at them as something to be proud of instead of embarrassed, it can really change how they view themselves. I've got numerous scars on my body and I've told the stories of each one so much that it's hard to imagine not having those scars. Love yourself, not everyone's perfect and if anything you have physical proof of your struggles, and even better is that you have proof you survived.
She's such a kind person with a gentle yet strong heart, and I love people with a personality like you which is rare to find. If you read this I just want you to know that I love you so much ❤
Just to clarify, the girl didn’t have pain, most likely cause her nerves were already damaged, therefore they don’t signal pain. Pain is psychological, of course it’s physical but it directly responds to our nervous system, if that fails, you won’t feel pain, even if they torture you. Pain exists to signal our brain that something isn’t correct. With no signal, there’s no response.
I’m not just saying this... she is beautiful. I’ve had two neck surgeries and my skin is extremely tight I’m sure nothing like what she experiences.... I didn't fully understand the story with the glue and what it had to do with the neurological studies 👀 but I think Jey is beautiful and I mean it! her kids are blessed to have her as a mother ❤
I think she said she had had some neurological tests where they had used this blue glue to stick the probes onto her scalp which had remained on her scalp after they were removed. When she got home she though that by rubbing grease on the glue would soften it so she could remove it which it may have done, but she had lit a candle I think and her hair ended up touching the candle and she just went up in flames. That’s how I understood it.
Some doctors need to be taught not to speak negatively in front of any patients. Sleeping, in a coma, or fully awake. That is so messed up!!!
I'm a med student and that's a basic rule for patient care.
