Matty, I hope you see this and will integrate it in a video. I'm growing out a beard but want to trim my upper lip, so no real moustache. All i can find is to hold a comb from top down and slide over the comb with the trimmer. However im clueless to how far and where to fade. Im sure i can do better with a good tutorial but its hard to find any. Most beard stuff goes hand in hand with a big or even trained moustache, or its really a shaped Moustache like old time actors had. I just want a moustache that doesnt stick out or have any thickness but fits with the bearded look

The beard tips are really great and helpful, but you should really make a video about your hair. It always looks good.

Awesome tips thanks. Do you ever let your stache grow longer. I struggle with trimming mine which is longer than yours in this video.
Thanks again for the great tips

Whats the downside to having a wider clipper head? More length gives straighter line etc. Just a thought.

Love your videos, in fact you help me wanna be able to trim by my own and not go to the barber all the time. Two questions:
    1. I've heard many people (especially some youtubers) warning for getting rid of stray hairs regularly and "trimming the hedge" when you're growing it out? Making it growing out thin? What is your take on that? Cause I see you do it almost every time?
    2. Do you recommend to trim the beard under the mustache to get it more separated if that is what you're going for? Are the beard at the corner of your mouth part of the mustache? I usually end up trimming it shorter cause it's not part of the upper lip and feels like it weakens my mustache over all not making it as thick.
Thanks again for your amazing videos, prob watched hours of them!
    Cheers!

      1) that can become a problem if you intend to grow your beard quite long. But I keep mine at medium length which requires me to shape the sides and keep them shorter anyway.
      2) I think when it comes to trimming a moustache it really really depends on what kind of a vibe you are going for. If you wanted to little thinner, you can keep it shorter over the lip if you want something heavier, let it grow.

@@mattyconradgrooming Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yeah I gotcha, i mean more the beard under the beard. Is it recommended to trim that if you want a bit more disconnected mustache etc?

So you let everything grow down to the "shelf", and just use the hovering technique to trim flyaways. When it looks very chunky and square this way, it is hard to strike a balance between a too-square ("cartoonish") look and a more natural one. It's either "he tried too hard" or "didn't try hard enough." And this is how I trim at home-- no hotel required!

What is your opinion on laser hair removal on the cheeks and on the neck(so your beard is forever defined and therefore not needing to shave those areas)? Is it a viable option?

I don't get the soap - gasoline metaphor?! I use a very good quality beard soap on a daily routine. No sodium lauryl sulphate, just shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut butter. My beard is top notch.
