Good for you to experience rural life in Zhejiang. My grandparents left such a village in this part of world in their teenage years over 100 years ago. I visited the village about 10 years ago for the very first time. At that moment, I did feel in my heart that I have felt the pulse my root even though I did not know anybody and did not know where to go in the village. I tried my darndest to communicate in broken local dialect. Eventually with village storekeeper's help, I found the house my grandpa built for my great grandfather before WW2. Keep up and let us learn more about experience in such a village.

you are one brave woman, I admire. I know china is safe. I used to live in china for many years in both city and small mountain villages. But I have friends to stay with, never alone for long. I find in the village, everyone know about your movement and you don't them. lol I got a flat in shanghai now, but i left empty for nearly 3 years now. I will be back there next years. Your rural home and village are absolutely adorable. Oh that early dusk shot of the mountains, pinkish clouded sky and walking pathway is so magical. What you captured in this beautiful video reminds me of scenes from the Japanese cartoon - My Neighbour Totoro - But a Chinese version.
OMG This video makes me so nolstagic. It reminds me of the tiny village where I lived with my grandparents. The birds chirping in the morning, dogs walking freely to each other's yard, chicks and ducks walking around, aunties and grandmas dancing in any open free space. The only difference is that I was from Jiangsu, very close to Zhejiang but not so many mountains.
BTW, Catherine please allow me share some more thoughts . I grew up in rural farming area with rice fields surrounded by bamboo trees in Taiwan. But my mother is from the province you are now. The scenery from my bed room is pretty much like yours now. It’s so amazing how much similar life experience we have. This is most beautiful part of different cultures and people sharing experiences in common. Because we all love nature and humble to the nature
Your beautiful new house and your good mandarin have contributed so much of hope and wonderful village life as a foreigner in China. Chinese saying, when there is Ying and the Yang is there for you without much difficulty. I also live in a village in Zhejiang Province. We have the "green road" alongeside the river too. I really like it, and the view when you take a talk along it.
So happy to see you have a wonderful life there. Get some chickens of your own. They are good companions, from morning till dusk. Other than dealing with their leftovers, they are pretty self sufficient. You don’t even need to feed them, as they will look for food by themselves. Having a few strolling in my yard, priceless.
Zhejiang is known as the “land of rice and fish” of China. In ancient time and today, it is one of the most prosperous and comfortable place for living. Because of this, you can find tons of poets, scholars, scientists and world caliber celebrities who are originally from this area! Congrats!

Edit: There's a belief from India that considers soft rain when it's also sunny as auspicious! (Plus it also means there's a rainbow to be chased nearby!)

❤ A Chinese version of “Under the Tuscan Sun”. Just be aware some season in southern China could be very humid, mold grew on everything. You need to choose rug with right material or maybe put a dehumidifier device in the room.
It's a figment of your imagination. I am from Malaysia and the humidity is stifling, about 80% all year round. Yet things only turn mouldy if left wet and no ventilation. 😮😮😮
There is a reason why people don't use rugs. I also have a place in the rural area, threw out all the wooden furnitures and replaced with stainless steel ones.

There are pros and cons living in rural area in china, house's condition, including bath, the location if good for convenient public transportations, etc. i wish you be well prepared, do not cry in case there are some hardishes emerging. my architecture and medical back grounds, and the sensitive sixth sense empowering me be able to figure out something very quickly. The rugs wont be worked well because the moisture ground floor, a space should be there for airflowing beneath the rugs. Wish you good!
there is a bus stop 3 minutes away but it's a long haul to get to the city 😂 it takes me 2-3 hours with bus + metro to get wherever I'm going in the city but still worth it to live somewhere so beautiful
I have no idea which village it is, but I know it's in 余杭区. Last weekend when I was driving back to 杭州 from 德清, I came across a village called 青山村(Green Mountain Village), which really had quite similar scenary. BTW, that narrow country road from 青山村 to 莫干山 is such a perfect biking route, especially in autumn.
congrats on moving into such a beautiful village. what i like about this village it has mountains and water ( 有山有水 ). i live in the Canadian Prairie, a lot of places have no hills or water. it makes the place much less attractive. love from canada.

I lived in a village of Hubei Province Shiyan City for 3 years. That was great experience in Liu Li Ping Village. People are living commun lifes. Help each other. Even for some needs they just exchange but not use any money. Great life style for living. Not a stressful big city life. People are merry everyday. 😊

南方的农村，大部分家庭的院子后面或者侧面都会有竹子，一方面是因为南方盛产竹子，另一方面是南方人认为竹子可以给家庭带来福气，竹子不但四季常青、韧性强，寓意：“家庭地运势好，儿孙满堂。”
不过有一点需要了解，就是风水学里，门前一定范围内不能种树和竹子。😁

I also live in a village in Zhejiang Province. We have the "green road" alongeside the river too. I really like it, and the view when you take a talk along it.

Get some chickens of your own. They are good companions, from morning till dusk. Other than dealing with their leftovers, they are pretty self sufficient. You don’t even need to feed them, as they will look for food by themselves.
Having a few strolling in my yard, priceless.

Understand why you want to live in a place with such a beautiful view. Bought a house in Fuzhou, not in the countryside but sort of hidden away and got those mountain views 😊
❤ A Chinese version of “Under the Tuscan Sun”. Just be aware some season in southern China could be very humid, mold grew on everything. You need to choose rug with right material or maybe put a dehumidifier device in the room.
Just dry it under the sunshine occasionally will be sufficient, just the old way my mom did.
It's a figment of your imagination. I am from Malaysia and the humidity is stifling, about 80% all year round. Yet things only turn mouldy if left wet and no ventilation. 😮😮😮
There is a reason why people don't use rugs. I also have a place in the rural area, threw out all the wooden furnitures and replaced with stainless steel ones.

There are pros and cons living in rural area in china, house's condition, including bath, the location if good for convenient public transportations, etc. i wish you be well prepared, do not cry in case there are some hardishes emerging. my architecture and medical back grounds, and the sensitive sixth sense empowering me be able to figure out something very quickly. The rugs wont be worked well because the moisture ground floor, a space should be there for airflowing beneath the rugs. Wish you good!
there is a bus stop 3 minutes away but it's a long haul to get to the city 😂 it takes me 2-3 hours with bus + metro to get wherever I'm going in the city but still worth it to live somewhere so beautiful
I have no idea which village it is, but I know it's in 余杭区. Last weekend when I was driving back to 杭州 from 德清, I came across a village called 青山村(Green Mountain Village), which really had quite similar scenary. BTW, that narrow country road from 青山村 to 莫干山 is such a perfect biking route, especially in autumn.

congrats on moving into such a beautiful village. what i like about this village it has mountains and water ( 有山有水 ). i live in the Canadian Prairie, a lot of places have no hills or water. it makes the place much less attractive. love from canada.

I lived in a village of Hubei Province Shiyan City for 3 years. That was great experience in Liu Li Ping Village. People are living commun lifes. Help each other. Even for some needs they just exchange but not use any money. Great life style for living. Not a stressful big city life. People are merry everyday. 😊
