Should YOU Buy Star Wars Battlefront 2 In 2023? (Review)

- Star Wars Battlefront 2 released back in 2017 and had a pretty horrendous launch but over the last 6 years content has been added and quality of life updates have consistently come out but unfortunately support for Battlefront 2 support was ended early last year.
So is Star Wars Battlefront 2 worth playing in 2023?
A lot of changes have been made over the last 6 years but did those changes improve or reduce Battlefront 2's value?
Despite EA's terrible reputation for money hungry tactics Battlefront 2's reputation has improved significantly over the years especially after loot boxes were removed and the progression system got a full overhaul but is that a good enough reason to play or buy Battlefront 2 in 2023?
So after all these years is Star Wars Battlefront 2 worth buying in 2023?

I actually played battlefront 2 for the first time today and I’ve loved it. I never got it before because of how much hate it got when it first came out, but now I feel like I’ve missed out lol
The hate was justified i think Neale but over the years they really shaped up Battlefront2 into a great experience, glad you're having such a good time with it :D
Updates and patches made the game better over time. I still feel its average at points but from the mindset of playing a star wars simulator, and not a game, it works. I hope you enjoy it.

It still hurts that EA chose to discontinue support at basically the top of BF2's resurgence. I jumped on the hype-train before The Rise of Skywalker, and man, was it a blast! Even though I'm anything BUT a multiplayer guy, this managed to keep me invested, especially the co-op mode. Fingers crossed for the future of BF.
I do hope they have plans for a battlefront 3 but man i wish they just kept supporting Battlefront 2 :/
I think you guys are missing a key principle that EA forces all of their games to follow: No good games allowed. If players start enjoying themselves, the devs are doing something wrong.

@@JacksGameReviewsadly battlefront 3 was canceled after being almost done in development. One of the main developers made a whole thing about it and how it would have been amazing, there a lot of vids about it, 😢
@@Sxitz Battlefront 3 would've been the best star wars game ever if they had been able to finish it. You can get a taste of the magic with the Battlefront 3 Legacy mod for classic swbf2 but its not all the way there yet
I loved the campaign honestly. Peoples standards have gotten ridiculous. Took me back to my rogue squadron days on GameCube as a kid.
Same I just finished it and it felt like I was playing a movie some very cool scenes
I played on xbox when the game first game out and thought it was alright but now on PC, steam had it on sale for $5 so why not and i’m enjoying it. Haven’t jumped into multiplayer again yet.

The multiplayer mode is so fun to play
This video is 3 days old and I think this game is more noob friendly than 2015 battlefront. I think its still easy to get into for different reasons, but there is a learning curve.
Every week has double and triple XP.
Every week also has reinforcement events where they are cheaper which helps in grinding. There is also CO-OP with up to 4 players which lets you pick the era. Eventually being at the high level of other players isn't hard, you just have to be patient.
One tip as a blaster or lightsaber hero, flank and use cover.
This game ks now 6 years old and i had such great memories of it. Sometimes i think about going back just for the nostalgia

HvV is the most underrated gamemode ever! i swear that mode is worth it in of itself. its the first actual fightning game in genuine 3D, and 1v1'ing is the best.

My issue I am having with it is it keeps crashing on my xbox onex. First time I play as Luke he falls through the island and just keeps falling. Very frustrating.
On Nexus, i saw a darth talon mod make it to the top 10 most downloaded mod this month on the site. I never played BF II, but i did hear about the bad launch.
Its too bad its not supported anymore, I would of loved to try it.

Basically means that no risks were taken to surprise players. It’s just your basic third person shooter with almost nothing new gameplay wise compared to any other third person shooter

Please can someone tell me if the game still has an active playerbase on PC ? I'm debating getting the game on it but I'd like to know what's the status with cheaters and if one has to wait 5+ minutes to find a good lobby....

this is a little bit of a late response, but for me the servers are still decently active (for context i live in canada)
the longest queues i get are around 30 seconds - 1 minute, sometimes theyre instant, it depends on the time of day too
ive also never ran into anyone using cheats ever

just got a 2 week holiday, then got the announcement that we are under quarantine, and i sit and play this game or for honor all day, man i miss quarantine
I just purchased it and started playing it and I really like it. There is even a mode to play offline and practice with a team of AI teammates. The only thing that I do not like is that the space ships controls are very good. It takes some skill to manuver the ships around, but it is not terrible, just not great. But this is a good game to play and you can tell a lot of work went into making it.
Lol, literally just finished the main campaign about 5 min ago. Came to youtube and typed in BattleFront 2 because i wanted to listen to the reviews, and saw this video. But yeah, really enjoyed the campaign. The music is 10/10, really gives you that star wars vibe and sets the mood very well. The third person shooting is very nice. And the highlights of the game are definitely the Space/Air battles Missions. Enjoyed them so much that i have to try out Star Wars Squadrons now. Oh, and the optimization for this game in incredible. Any PC should have no issues running this game even on lower settings. Super Smooth FPS and the Game looks GREAT. Shout out to EpicGames.

I have a question about the multiplayer, so for example i dont own xbox live but if i want to play multiplayer modes is it free to play? (Like fortnite, rocket league etc) or do i need to own the xbox live subscription in order to play multiplayer game modes?
Yes. You need a membership/subscription of Xbox Live in order to play MP.

The clone wars in supremacy having the most full lobbies stings less when you consider we have 2 decent clone wars cartoons. I would've loved mixed era heroes in supremacy with only the planet phase, but whatever, I don't work at DICE.
Got the Platinum Trophy on this. Loved it from the off. The Wookiee reinforcement was unbelievable early on. Stopped playing when they announced no more updates/support.

I love this game simply for having a StarWars FPS Campaign, I’m not even mad at how short it was (granted, I got it for $14 on BlackFriday)
This was very critical I don't think the campaign was bad at all people just hated the misadvertising of it and the lightsaber combat is quite good if you know how to do it well

I bought battlefront 1 at launch and loved it back then. When the second one came out I was really disappointed. Then two years ago, after the game was now at a reduced price, I decided to give it another chance, and I will never regret that choice. Battlefront 2 is one of, if not the best multiplayer I've ever played, it's really immersive and it's impossible not to love it if you're a fan. It's really a shame that EA stopped working on it..

The lightsaber combat is a big skill gap, there's parrying hook swings, dash swing's etc, just look at the lightsaber duels on this game the players are so cracked

I played the 2015 Battlefront and it was fun for like....a few hours at the time. Obviously wasn't that good cause, EA. Never picked up Battlefront 2 until it was offered on PS plus but have yet to give it a try.
Battlefront 2 has a lot more content like ALOT, kinda insane Battlefront 1 launched with so little

I wouldn't recommend this if you want to play a campaign cuz it was probably the most dissapointing story at least from the Empire's favourite loyalist point of view. But I'm still playing the multiplayer vanilla and modded. Playing this game with the Battlefront+ mod is one of the best arcade SW experiences you can have. Now I'm rooting for the modders to start adding custom maps, then the game will relive its renaissance. Very cool video I am really surprised how much I relate to your opinions.

I think it poorly due to era it came out in and people got bored due to battlefront 1 which was a head of its time . I chose to play BF2 because ps5 games are not great right now and it’s unbelievable it features Rey, and Kylo I think we should go back and play games that are awesome and over looked like tomb raider a lot of other games were over looked in 2017 . Like GTA v for ps5 made me want to revisit the past

The maps don't really have that expansive battlefield depth the original Battlefront games had.
The voice acting for alien characters is lame (all the different species in this game have Chad voices).
There's a lot of different choices and selections that don't really work smoothly like the whole battle point system and being able to combine/replace class abilities.
The game is super glitchy and buggy even in offline/single player mode.
Glad I only payed $6 lol

Campaign was so meeh. A few moments that made me go wow though. I loved flying the Falcon and playing the special characters.
But some missions made me so pissed. Like when Hask escapes a planet and you gotta find a way to chase him. The enemy keeps respawning and sneaking is impossible. I think I died around 20-30 times. Mostly because when I thought I had wiped out the enemy they spawned next to me while I was reloading and killed me.
Multiplayer is kinda fun but also pisses me off when there are no lifers who always controls the jedis and wipes your team all the time.
We won 1 game out of 12. And I got to be Yoda for 3 minutes after playing an entire day.
And I kept getting shot when taking cover behind a ship. There was no gap between the ship or floor.
All in all its a lot of fun when you get it with gamepass. I mean I got gamepass for many other games and this was a fun bonus as a new Star Wars fan. Never liked Star Wars in my 30 years but gave it a new chance a month ago and I am invested now :)

I tried it for the first time and finding a game in general seems like winning the lottery. That game ofc being one with terrible matchmaking where a bunch of low lebel scrubs like me go against maxed out sweaty nerds. So finding a decent game is probably just not possible anymore which is sad becaude Im sure I would have loved this game
This game is amazing, and such a waste of potential. I would pay money for service to be brought back. There is so much content they could add to this game especially with Mando, Book of Boba, Ashoka, Andor the list goes on. So much dlc that they could make money off of and fans would love to play.
Tried on and off to play this game over the years and it’s still pretty terrible in my opinion. Some people like it but here’s how every match goes:
HvV: You WILL go up against a team of high level players or low level players 8/10 matches. A 4v4 quickly becomes 4v3 and so on the second a team is down by 5 or so. I honestly can’t blame them because you’re either up against a mostly max team or players who are new. Both leave when they lose and very rarely are matches close.
Supremacy: Matches can be fun, but usually games last for 45min or so and it’s actually not that fun when the game is fair and teams are equal. You’ll usually leave at this point and didn’t really feel like you accomplished anything.
Hero Showdown: You WILL fight Max players who BREATHE this game and you WILL wait if the team becomes unbalanced even though it should just let you 1v1 a random member of the other team then refill your health for fighting the other guy if you win.
GA: You WILL be put on a losing team unless the game feels charitable. Usually this is because that team is getting steamrolled and spots open up. Want to take out Walkers of any kind? Well your team better be good because that WILL rarely happen from my experience on both sides.
The clones WILL win on Geonosis unless half of the team runs a Heavy.
P.S. - The “WILL” is like the games rules. These events will essentially happen to anyone who plays the game so they may as well come up on the tips screen.
