Amen to that. I’ve tried to explain it to friends what tinnitus is really like and what effect it can have on people (and their families) …. they simply cannot comprehend. One friend told me, quite seriously , “can’t you just put cotton in your ears?” 🤦♂️
I acquired tinnitus in my left ear during the swine flu & then a few years later in both ears from noise. I can relate to you all. It is an affliction from Hell. I'm sure God is using this Dr to help people as I want to do myself one day when the Lord heals me whether directly or indirectly .
Love this story of success. The sound therapy (as well as meditation and self care) is making a big difference for my Tinnitus as well. I love how Pattie suggests that Tinnitus sufferers find good resources. You are clearly among those great resources for her, and me. Thanks for your passion for helping others
Great story Very happy for you A success story for all of us is reassuring to no end. We need to walk away with this story as a positive check mark in the fight against tinnitus. Congrats to both you and Dr Ben
Thank you for this. I’ve had this bad since a car wreck years ago and it is devastating. I’m a tennis pro and this tinnitus is horrific. I can’t mentally do anything at the high level I was always use to do it becomes very depressing. This gave me some hope again.

I have had on and off mild (at tops maybe a 2 out of 10 in volume) tinnitus for 4 months in my left ear. It is slowly dissipating, as it seems related to my lower jaw and gum disease. The culprit seems to be the left lower back molar which is loose. I have lost weight, change my diet, went to an acupuncturist, chiropractor, meditated, therapy, audiologist (hearing test said I have normal hearing) and am now being treated by a periodontist. All have seemed to help, as well as having lower blood pressure, less sugar, and simple carbs in my diet and just making sure you get a good night's sleep. This did freak me out at first, as I had it for 8 straight days of tinnitus in the beginning before my 1st day of relief from an acupuncture visit, as lots of anxiety and lack of sleep. That said, it has been pretty consistent of on and off with it mostly coming back at night because of the way I sleep and disappearing in the morning. I have become used to it when it is around. I wish everyone good luck with this affliction and my advice is to leave no stone unturned because when this started I had no idea it had to do with my teeth. Pattie is definitely not the only success story, but congrats to hear her success story literally...
@press rale To answer your question, it is both yes and no. As weird as this may sound, it depends if I snore at night. If I snore I can get a little tinnitus, but not snoring, I don't have it. That is where I am...
@press rale I sleep through the night without anything. Guided meditation helps me with this the most, as Michael Sealy on UA-cam is a good start. Try his detachment from over thinking...

I'm so happy for you! May I ask.. is it that you have to mask the tinnitus completly with sound therapy? Or do you have to hear the tinnitus while hearing other noises too? Thank you for sharing dr. Ben!
While her tinnitus reduction activities were taking place another factor also occurred, the passage of time. Our bodies have some capacity to heal itself. I frequently wonder how we know if a therapy makes the difference or would healing have taken place anyway.
I'm wondering if this lady's real problem was with anxiety and not directly with tinnitus. I've been a tinnitus sufferer for 13 years and have struggled with anxiety my whole adult life. The key for me was learning that tinnitus and anxiety are two separate issues and as long as I kept them separate in my mind I found I could learn to live with tinnitus. This lady's coping mechanisms (deep breathing, meditation) are used to fight anxiety but I believe they can also decrease the noise level of tinnitus.

Hi Dr Ben, I am 73 and have had tinnitus for 12 years, 2 noises in my left ear, one in my right. Over that time it has worsened, despite trying everything from hypnotherapy, acupuncture to CBT. It has now been diagnosed as acute, chronic tinnitus and now worsens on a regular basis, to the point where I am in total despair. None of the professionals I have consulted can offer any explanation why this happening. Do you have any thoughts/ suggestions? Many thanks.
Wow I'm happy for her, she looks like such a sweet person. I have 0 hearing loss and have had chronic high pitch tinnitus non stop for the last month. No one can tell me why, it is scary.
my high pitched tinnitus is caused by my top vertebra getting out of alignment. sometimes the chiropractor can fix it but not always. i do stretches that often help. look on youtube for things like "Atlas Adjustment & Atlas Correction," "Ringing in ear (tinnitus) cured by the neck exercise."
Just my personal experience. I've had tinnitus for forty years and have learnt to live with it. I recently went a hearing test. The results showed I had hearing loss in the higher frequencies. (apparently common with tinnitus suffers). I purchased hearing aids. The hearing aid I chose was from a very well known company. In one popular model they make four versions. I didn't choose the very top of the range, I chose the one under that. For me, they helped, but only very slightly. I think if you have more severe hearing loss I can see how they might help a tinnitus suffers. I suggest, try a pair before you buy, as they are very expensive. Sleep affects my tinnitus the most. I've found its very important to get regular sleep, avoid drink late and eating late. I cultivated a very regular sleep pattern. This is just my experience, a personal account.
Thanks for sharing your experience! You're absolutely right about hearing aids being expensive. Many models offer a trial period so you can try them out before committing. This way, you can see if they provide the relief you need. If they don't work out for any reason, you can typically return them.

DR Ben ..my chiropractic of trust told me that you helped his client a lot where others coudnt ! My question is why not affordable options for hearing aids that you don't take off {implanted } inside .. My problem is ..i am wearing glasses when i tuch them it gives my soundes ..you cant sleep with them or take a shouer .Also they dont have a ophio to work like a ear plug in noiseenvermont ..Please talk to makers to make it happen ..i am dog traner ... tinnites and exctrily sensosive to sounds .. lost hi frequency
I understand your concerns about the limitations of traditional hearing aids and the desire for more affordable options with implanted devices that can be worn continuously. In the meantime, to help with sleeping, you might consider using a tabletop masking device, such as a white noise or nature sounds speaker.
Thank you I’m from India . Ive been having a very similar problem as Pattie ,since Oct 2018 . My audiologist has guided me into retraining therapy since almost one year now its helped me .The intensity has reduced but without hearing aid after 10/12 minutes tinnitus shows itself. Sleep has improved , but once I wake up its a fight to get back to sleep. Once again i wear my ear phone to hear downloads it silences the tinnitus to get back to sleep if I’m lucky. My question is will it eventually go? How do i overcome without the hearing aids? If you can help me I’ll be happy and thankful.

Sound therapy is a broad term. It is a way of using sound to provide tinnitus relief. If the brain is busy listening to other sounds it’s not as focused on the perception of tinnitus. This can be as simple as turning on a fan to using customized ear-level devices for sound therapy. If you have additional questions about sound therapy, feel free to contact our team at Treble Health and we can do our best to help you.

My tinnitus has subsided over time.
You are great Ben
What is the protocol? I'll try anything
I am from India, can you suggest how to get rid of tinnitus?
Hi do what she did sound therapy reduce your symptoms get to 1 or 0 that wound be brilliant seek help and go for it
Thank you
I’m from India .

I got tinnitus for 1.5 month, hearing is not damaged. 4 days ago I started to use white noise as mask. It worked for 2 days, then i got 2 more tinnitus sounds that get through any sound. 1 is ultra high freq. and another one changing it's frequency(1 sec loop). Second one has a tendency to appear when i hear something average level of volume or above. I don't know what to do...it's hell. How can i hide from it

Oh, is there hope ? I gave it up... I fetched my left ear tinnitus 2007 due to burn-out (overtime working). Visiting the ear doctor next day after 1st occurance didn't help anyway as he couldn't/didn't cure, he gave me anti-depressiva which suicided me nearly, so I'm very skeptical and afraid trying any therapy/medication anymore here where I live ...
Last year I had quite a bad time with increased loudness of tinnitus after vaccination. It is now back to a very low level....I hardly notice it
Patty said she mentioned she tried holistic but what holistic approach did she try acupuncture, homeopathic medication etc I've had it for 7 years Non-Stop
A great story. Thank you Dr. Ben.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mine is not high pitched. It’s a low whirring sound. And only in my right ear. and a head ache often accompanies the tinnitus. It’s worse when I’m laying down to sleep. I keep an air cleaner on all nite and a video of the ocean

Hi Ben, do you have any chinese speaking audiologist?
We do not have a Chinese speaking audiologist on our team.
Mine started after removal of a 2.5 cm right goiter. That was 2005, I could hear but the ringing was constant. Sounded like cicadas. It is now 2023, is it possible that mine could go away too? Edited to explain that mine is in rhythm exactly with my heartbeat.

Please someone outthere what's sound therapy? What it involves who offers sound therapy?
I needed soon is possible
Sound therapy is a broad term. It is a way of using sound to provide tinnitus relief. If the brain is busy listening to other sounds it’s not as focused on the perception of tinnitus. This can be as simple as turning on a fan to using customized ear-level devices for sound therapy. If you have additional questions about sound therapy, feel free to contact our team at Treble Health and we can do our best to help you.
thanks a lot dr.ben

For a temporary solution... And I mean: 5 to 10 seconds. Try acupressure. There are some videos on Youbute about it. In my opinion the best video is one with an Asian lady that's easy to follow the instructions.

@@baljeetsingh5428 symptoms can only be treated once we find root of it thing with tinnitus is that cause of it is million things to look for like a needle in a hay stack ,just notice how you got it when you got it and do a whole body checkup , whole blood work in my case it's caused due to depression and when i am on ritalin which is stimulant it goes away completely.
I am no doctor but as I researched and find it's not a big deal just ignore it will take some time you will not even notice it for few days. It goes away usually.

Study of electrical activity of single neurons within the auditory pathways has shown that their spontaneous activity is not perceived as sound.
How about reactive high frequency tinnitus?
What about reduced hearing in one ear with tinnitus?
