Just ordered one to try out. My first security camera. I’m actually excited about this. Been researching for a couple of years off and on. Finally settled on this brand. This particular one will be my living area cam (indoor). If I like it, I’m ordering a couple more for outside. I went ahead and purchased the “Cam Plus” package so I can get the full experience right out the gate. Hope I made a good choice. Reviews like this help. Thanks from a new sub over in Kansas. Great video!
Wyze is a solid camera with AI smarts. Of all the subscriptions that are in place it is one of the cheapest for what you get. If you keep an eye out they generally have deals on the cam plus subscriptions a few times a year. Hope this camera works out for you.
14:53 when mentioning the option to mount with a screw.. the little raise box in that same spot is also a magnet and can be mounted with the magnet as well.
I had the YI cameras for over 7 years... Still works but they keeps changing settings to buy their service. The YI camera is around $24. Same price. The Wyze camera is the best money can buy!
Looking for indoor security cameras and appreciate your review. Still confused, however, about whether or not the system will notify me via my phone or ipad if it detects motion without my having to purchase the subscription. I would appreciate clarification on this question.
Yes you will get a notification on your phone or iPad if the camera detects motion even without a subscription. The subscription is more for do you want to get targeted notifications for things like person, pet, etc. For free you just get a notification every time it detects motion.
If Wyze has a battery operated outdoor camera, why would someone not be able to make a battery pack to work with V3? Battery pack at 5v, 2a with solar panel for continuous charging. Time to work on another project....
I placed this camara behind a glass window pointing to the patio. There are 2 city posts with very bright light that shows enormous spots of light. Is there any way to adjust that brightness in the camera?
I just ordered these. My brother has v2 and he doesn’t have any wire. Just the one he used to charge them cameras. Am I wrong in thinking that these have a battery that is charged with a mini usb?
Both the v2 and v3 in power to the in order to work. There is no internal battery on either of these cameras. The mini USB plug connects to a longer cable that is attached to a power brick. Wyze doe make a battery powered camera which I have reviewed and can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/4686czvqF0o/v-deo.html
How do you rotate the camera to scan the room while viewing from your phone? With older version I could drag finger on screen to point in another direction and camera would respond. Can’t do the same with v3.
I think this was adjusted with both the version 2 and the version 3. In order to pan around you first have to pinch to zoom. Then you can drag around the image.
Great video, very detailed. I absolutely need person detection for outdoors. My understanding was that saving to a micro SD card would do the trick, but it seems only a paid subscription will do? Have you had a chance to try yours with an SD card? I've tried and no luck! Will be returning then... Thank you.
The MicroSD card only allows for local storage not cloud storage. It would not give you access to person detection. However Wyze has introduced cam plus lite subscription which will give you access to person detection for all of your cameras for a flat rate. This is very similar what Legacy users got in where you can choose what you pay for this. Which according to wyze can be $0.
It works with the wyze app so you would have to have software on your computer to mimic having a phone operating system on it. So it would be extra work.
is there any delay in recording? some cameras seem to take a while to start recording and the person has already left by the time it turns on. We need it to immediately record when someone walks past the window.
Question If I have it all set up With motion events and wifi goes out and it's just connected by power only will it still record motion only or does it already have to be in continuous mode 🤔 My wifi tends to go in and out often lol not great location Please recommend settings If wifi is off can I still unplug to change sd card out with alternate card and will it resume recording 🤔 in same settings 🤔 I know I know 20 questions lol thank you 😊
First you don't need to have it in continuous mode to have it work when wifi goes out. However, you will need an SD card in the camera in order for the clips to be saved to the camera. So if you don't want continuous recording just make sure when you setup the SD card to select clips. This should do what you are looking for.
Hi , I just got my v3 in the mail today.i have it set up without no subscription right now. Just wondering why I don't have any notifications going off to my phone?? I have a android if that changes anything.
Do you have it set to detect motion? Do you also have it set to send notifications for movement? These are two separate areas in the app that would need to be set.
My V3 camera have not been working properly for months now the light went off won't come back on and if it's do it's always in red like it's in video mode. I just want to fix it.
They have made one for their outdoor camera. Should only be a matter of time before they make one for the v3. As for a flat fee, they have introduced Cam Plus lite which can give person detection across all their cameras for one fee. I did a look at it here: ua-cam.com/video/z4yLn8N1cCM/v-deo.html.
If you want to be able to pull up the clips on your phone yes. If you are just going to go out every few days to pull clips off of it, then after set up you in theory could use while not attached to wifi.
update: It is not $20 anymore, the detection zone cannot go as small as desired. Motion detection is awful even with the person detection; desperately waiting for the updated zoning and hopefully a bit better motion algorithm. It takes upto 128GB SD card. I can't recall How many days of non-stop capture, a week I think.
Yes, they have moved to needing a cam plus subscription to get the best pricing. I still can adjust my detection zone as of version 4.36.0.280. Being able to use up to a 128gb card is great.
Hi, did the camera take a recording of motion in the backyard even though it didn't track person? The visual, audio, and explanations were great. Thank you for a great review.
I went back after the fact and garbed the footage from the continues recording. It did not trigger at all as it did not detect motion or a person in that clip.
I cover that in the v2 review I did. Thankfully not much has changed so you can see that information here: ua-cam.com/video/gOmpBE75s9E/v-deo.html. It will bring you right to what you are looking for. Also, the max size micro sd card you can use is 64gb.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Does adding the v3 to the app affect the person detection for older devices, like the v2, or will you still have person detection for the v2 and only need to upgrade to cam plus for the v3 camera to have person detection?

Nice vid, but perhaps a useful topic would be a minute dedicated to just what features are available without the subscription. Do functions that you show become no longer available? Also, where is this cam listed for $20? I've seen that number repeated on these V3videos. The link you posted goes to one listed for $29.98, no subscription. The Wyze site has the V3 listed as of 12 Apr, for $24 with a month of access, and $35 for a year.
Thank you for the feed back. The only two things that you get with the subscription at time of filming was person detection and the larger clips for cloud storage. Everything else is the same as you would have without the subscription. My link is for Amazon, which will always be a little higher as they role shipping into the price. As for the price on the official Wyze site, it was $20 when I made the video. However, they seem to have moved to having special pricing for "Cam plus subscribers" on their products which does bring this down to $20. I don't agree with this kind of pricing and really wish that Wyze did not do this.

We are now in August and I have 4 cams showing the "Red LED Of Death" (no flashing, factory reset can help this). Those cams are bricked just by simply using them (no power outage or poking around to try to do something fancy or flashing or anything... Simple most basic usage... Filming.)... To make matters worst since I am Canadian Wyze won't honor their warranty. Come to your own conclusion. Personally those 6 cams were my first and last Wyze purchases. Definitely not going to buy anything from that company. 4 cams out 6 is not just a fluke. This is serious Quality Check issues. You have been warned.
Well that is a little disappointing to hear. I can't say that I have issues with mine, but I only have two from early on. Can't say what the QA looks like now.

Purchased Roku camera at Walmart for $20.00 that looks just like the wyze and it works better and I can watch all it's video on my Roku tvs in the house and it did it automatically I didn't have to do anything. I am buying more Roku cameras instead of the wyze.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews they may be the same cameras but they have there own separate software and Roku cameras connect to Roku tv so you can watch camera video.
Would like to see you compare the two cameras . And they look a lot alike but the wyze is indoor & outdoor while the Roku has 2 cameras one indoor and one outdoor.
You should provide more realistic video examples. A person 50 ft away in your backyard would never be recognized with a 1080p camera so that just wasn't helpful. While in your garage wearing a mask it provides no determination if the camera is made well enough to make out a face. Everything else you showed could be found out by going to the wyze website and reading the product description.
Video footage is a fair critique. That just happens to be how I use these cameras. Mask footage is helpful for showing the blow out with ir lights and keeping my face out of videos. As for the rest of the video being things you can read off the wyze site, yes some of it is. But there is a great deal of personal perspective added to this as well.
Wyze has introduced Cam plus lite, which is the same deal that they gave to their legacy users for person detection. You can now pick what you pay just for person detection, which can be $0 if you want for all your devices now.

Can't say what the QA looks like now.
can i do 24hr recording ?
As long as you use an sd card.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews ok how long can i do 24/7 recording on a 32gig card before it rewrites
@@KaosZ007 HD setting 4 - 5 days depending on action in the video. Longer if you lower it to SD.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews thankyou so much on your feedback..Im trying to use this camera with a powerbank for outdoors i was wondering how long before i have to recharge that 20,0000 powerbank to keep the camera going?
@@KaosZ007 That one is a little harder to know or test for myself. I can tell you that night vision mode uses 2.3watts of power to run. Which might help to give you a little to work with.
"Alex (long pause) Aee" is that what normal people call Alexa ?
That's how I said to not trigger somebody's device who's watching
I made it to the 18 minute mark when I noticed you were alone in your garage, you came in from the outside, you had a mask on. Ok.....wow, are you serious? What are you worried about?
Showing my face on camera. I do not want to, so the mask. Simple as that.
Paid $35.00 for the wyze camera and having problems with it. Purchased Roku camera at Walmart for $20.00 that looks just like the wyze and it works better and I can watch all it's video on my Roku tvs in the house and it did it automatically I didn't have to do anything. I am buying more Roku cameras instead of the wyze.
The Roku cameras are just Wyze cameras with different software. I have been meaning to pick one up to check out the differances.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews they may be the same cameras but they have there own separate software and Roku cameras connect to Roku tv so you can watch camera video.
@@jerryhearn3978 That is the feature of the Roku software for this camera that I would like to check out.
Would like to see you compare the two cameras . And they look a lot alike but the wyze is indoor & outdoor while the Roku has 2 cameras one indoor and one outdoor.
@@jerryhearn3978 I will see what I can do. I Guess Roku opted to keep prices down per camera by having one for indoors and one for out doors.
Ungrateful go and find details elsewhere then. Takes time to make these videos. Don't need people moaning about the content. Go away 🤡
worst product, constant errors, not working, returning to Amazon
Junk !!! Good luck connecting to WiFi
THIS CAMERA DOES NOT HAVE A MOTION DETECTOR AT ALL!!! IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!
It uses pixle based motion detection. There is not a dedicated piece of hardware built into this camera
Stop working a lot. Don't waste your money
Person Detection is why u buy these cheap cams.
Wyze has introduced Cam plus lite, which is the same deal that they gave to their legacy users for person detection. You can now pick what you pay just for person detection, which can be $0 if you want for all your devices now.
Mine lasted 6 months. Buy something else.
Mine stil works, but there are better options out there. Tapo right now is my go to for best bang for your buck.
Terrible 😡
Why are you talking like that? Lmao
When you have to make a youtube video after working a double and don't have any more redbull. Your Brain does some fun things.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews sounds like your buffering every sentence 😂 the Wi-Fi signal must be atrocious 😂
@@garden0fstone736 Pretty much know what I want to say and have points to cover but my mouth is like wait what do you want me to say again....I guess I could say that if you really want me to.
@garden0fstone736 another person that has a bleat about the video. If it's so annoying to you then go and view something else. Ungrateful

Sandisk SD card is compatible with wyze?
Yes they are.
Does it need to be plugged in or can it run on batteries
This camera does not have an internal battery and needs to be plugged in to power it.
