My ancestor was in this march. He held the last sermon that Charles XII would ever attend, on the 30th of november in 1718.
Can you tell us more about this march ? Is there maybe testimonies in swedish museums ?

@@jrmungandr The death march was from Trøndelag in Norway to Jemtland in Sweden and have nothing to do with this picture of Charles XII. Charles XII was killed near Fredriksten festning in Southern Norway (Østfold).
@Dr Dal there were no good pictures of the actual death march to use so I took that one, is emblematic

I worked a summer at a kabin in the mountains where this march passed through. Hikers still find buttons from thier uniforms aamong the rocks time to time.
