As a swede and knowing we have been in peace for over 200 years, listening to this powerful song with the history it represents awakens a special feeling within.

That swedish "Pater" at the end... chills everytime.
You almost can see the Caroleans fueled by their faith in god and king marching under the volleys of death to smite their enemies, pushed on by the words of one of the oldest prayers in christianity. Simply inspiring.

The swedish version is much more powerful, especially the "Ahead, Facing the lead" part, that part is so powerful the Caroleans probably turn into Angels of War during that part

Every American rock band-alright guys, we can’t compete with this, Sabaton is officially the king of rock and roll. Sabaton is literally the definition of rock music in my opinion, every song I’ve heard from them is phenomenal, truly a work of art.
Sabaton is indeed one of the top bands in hard rock n metal at the moment, and for a good reason.. such good songwriters. Another band that is now filling arenas whilst soundin straight outta the 70s and 80s but in a fresh way , Ghost. Check out their new album Impera, Spillways and Kaiseron are such great tracks, the whole album sounds so 80s but so fresh. Kaiserion sounds like early 00's mixed with something unknown. Their best album is still Meliora (2015). Best song is Ghost - Faith however.

This song is one of my favourites from Sabaton. The contrast between the orchestral music and the metal is just perfect.
Yeah it's the best song from their best album. I prefer the Swedish language versions in terms of lyrics but i also enjoy the English versions alot.
I'm not one normally who likes heavy metal or rock but sabaton have caught my heart with their great lyrics of the history's of war,freedom and faith and the great music that go with these words. It's a fun way to get people to appreciate history.
I'm in the same boat haha, I've never liked metal, and don't like any other metal. Yet Sabaton has me excited for every song.
There is likely a sub-genre of metal for every person, metal has many variations.

3:33 That moment where they start talking about the facing the lead stuff until 3:56 always gets me in some deep thoughts. I keep imagining a bunch of soldiers with fixed bayonets walking into gunfire singing this and they don't care that their getting shot at.
They walked straight into fire and did not break, they took volleys before releasing one of their own charging the enemy and killing them, aside from the soldiers priests marched next to them to encourage the troops. My people were crazy but it were effective.

When they encountered a more disciplined opponent or a formation that was deeper with men the caroleans faltered and opened up a gap in their offense. This happened at Poltava and a couple others I believe. Most of it was pure luck and Russian incompetence amongst the officer corps
THIS was the song which got me permanently hooked on Sabaton and got me diving deep into history.
Im glad it got some fresh recognition in the form of this lyric video, i bet there are *TONS* of people that are fans of Sabaton but have not heard this song before.

Oh so that was The Lord's Prayer in Swidish. Maybe that's the reason why I cried when I first listened to this. My tongue doesn't know Swidish, but my heart recognized it was The Lord's Prayer.

The king Charles XII of Sweden was a history character that I don't knew until listen Carolus Rex (and meet Sabaton trought this song first), and I found him very interesting, becaming one of my favourite european king. I'm hispanic, and that why I didn't hear it nothing about him before.
He had international admirers at the time as well and several foreigners volunteered to join his forces.
One of my favorite events with Charles XII was when he was going to be crowned king at the age of fifteen. Then he was filled with confidence from his father and in the belief that he was sent from heaven. Undoubtedly, Charles took the king's crown from the priest and personally placed it on his head. Convinced that his crown does not come from the church but from heaven instead.
History brought to you by a group that makes some of the best metal music I have heard in my 54 years. Love this and look forward to all the music being brought to lyric format on UA-cam. Thank you Sabaton.
I heard this and Carolus Rex but didn't know the stories. All I knew of the Swedish Empire was the Great Northern War from studying Russian History. Thank you guys for sharing your nations history with the rest of us!
Gustavus Adolphus and Carolus Rex were badass kings to read about, they won many battles against 3-5 times bigger enemy forces. A smaller force that is fearless and utilizing superior and innovative tactics often made much bigger enemy forces just dissolve into chaos of men trying to flee or lay down their arms. The most badass post-viking era Scandinavian kings. The last true warrior kings of Europe of such notoriety
