WILSON DYNAPOWER FORGED IRONS \\ Game Changers?

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Today Mike is in the bay to hit the brand new Wilson Dynapower Forged irons. Constructed from forged 8620 carbon steel, these players distance irons are AI-enhanced for better-player performance and a soft, responsive feel. Optimized Power Hole construction in the 4 to 7 irons plus a low Center of Gravity (CG) and high Moment of Inertia (MOI) should result in faster, longer shots with higher launch angles, impressive stopping power and enhanced forgiveness. Lets see how they do in MIkey's hands!

One of my favourite memories is following the late Payne Stewart at the Canadian Open. He was playing a nice shiny set of Wilson Staff irons. That swing and those clubs were a perfect match.. These new irons come from a pretty classy family tree and they look very playable for us mortals. Remember Mike, luck is a byproduct of skill:).
I just got the d9 forged brand new for 500. Love em
These are going to sell like crazy especially with that price point. I think Wilson is definitely starting the year hot.
They won’t tho….. Wilson is a hard sell fortunately
Yeah, unfortunately Wilson Staff has to overcome decades of being known as a box set company.
@@CharlotteK2008not really considering they sold out their blades in around a week and ever since that duo won that good good tournament it’s gonna get the younger crowd interested in their products
@@mojohojo1210 I've been a 670MB and a MP33 player my entire life, but I'm seriously looking at Wilson's blades... I put the 8802 in my bag last year after trying it out for fun at the PGA store, lmao
Ordered these on Monday, can’t wait to get them
I totally had a gapping issues with my d9 forged! 125 yard pw and 190 yard 5 iron! I will say the 5 iron was amazing!
I love my D9 Forged irons fantastic irons, Wilson make the best irons
@shaunkelley55 same here!
Love my D9Forged 6-G
@@mikec.2314 I use 4 - GW
From a price perspective if these are almost as good as the P790’s then I’ll be testing these soon just to see and feel for myself. At about half the price here in Australia.
They sure look similar to my D9 Forged irons. I'm happy with them.
I’d love to see more testing against P790’s,MP245,ZX5,T200. I believe these could keep up with all them and beat them in some cases. They have incredible feel too.
Just picked up a set and put them up against the usual players distance stuff. For $500CAD less that anything else I demo'd in the category, it was my choice. They give up nothing in terms of speed and launch to other 30* 7i iron sets in a clean forged head. I love when value actually meets performance. Its rare.
Much cheaper than most brands and amazing quality can’t wait to get mine fitted on Monday!
Ian with a great burn, "That was unlike you . . . uncharacteristically good." Mikey just smiled knowing there was no good retort. LOL
When I started playing golf, Wilson was one of the big 3 golf brands out there (McGregor and Spalding..yes they made golf clubs to you younger guys out there were the other 2). Got myself a Wilson Dynapowr Forged myself. These are total sleeper irons probably cause of their "shelf" appeal compared to the big brand names and has beens or nobody's are using them on tour right now. Guarantee you if a Rory, Colin, or a Xander used these irons, Wilson wouldn't be able to keep this in stock.
It's possible the gap from 7-6 is fine but 6-5 a bit tight since 5 is where Mikey would transition to a wood or hybrid
$ Warning- when Mikey starts saying “I almost got that” after hitting the green with his four iron from 210 yards
Hello Guys. I really enjoyed these review videos. Hoping to pull the trigger on a new set of irons this season. Tell me your thoughts on this club compared to the Wilson D9 Forged
On this practice course, is he aiming for the straight white line or aiming for the pin?
Line
What do you think about these in a combo set with the CB’s for a very average ball striker with good speed?
Ian just bamming Mikey up for 8 mins haha
Can you change the loft of the clubs
They look good, they sound fantastic, they are clearly very forgiving but...
the spin on the 7i was stupidly low, the gapping between 7i and 5i was poor. I do wonder whether the 6i might go almost exactly the same distance as the 5i. I am guessing that the only way a ball stops on a green with 8i or longer is down to peak height and descent angle.
Cannot help but feel there are better options out there, but possibly not at the price Wilson sell at. Like many sets with similar lofts this is not a set to have a 5i or 4i
The problem is I can’t find a set to buy anywhere available is a big problem
Mikey, obviously its firmer feeling if you mistrike each shot
would you say there are closer to hot metal mizuno or the G430 irons? thanks
Similar to a hot metal pro
I loved my D7 forged irons dearly for a couple years, I must admit they weren't built great and they started to bend where the head meets the shaft. They have really poor customer support in the UK, they use a different company to handle their warranty issues and it was just an absolute farce. Long story short the issue wasn't resolved and I sold them to Golfbidder before the issue became more apparent. Such a shame because I love the look of these new irons but I just don't trust the customer support.
Good clubs but they never sell at our place until the end of the year when we blow them out at 40 -50 % off , the look of the holes turn a lot of people off just looks cheap.
1.20 you said the "former iron" was a firmer iron i think u said and with stronger lofts, when in actual fact, the former iron, the D9 forged is made from the same metal and have the exact same lofts 🤷🏼♂️
The previous version was just called Wilson Dynapower.
These are actually replacing both the D9 Forged and the Dynapower (not forged), according to Wislon.
@@clubchampionmedia huh? Come on now, you know damn well these are Wilson's forged series of irons, the last forged irons was the D9 forged, maybe they should have a different name for their forged irons like every other company does I guess.
Dynapower and dynapower forged are 2 different irons for 2 different playing categories, you guys know that, and I know for a fact you know the dynapower forged was a replacement for the D9 forged
@@clubchampionmediathe Dynapwr irons aren’t “previous”. They sit alongside these Forged versions, and still available as current model. They were just ahead of the Forged. These replace D9 Forged as others have said.
It's good to see some more exposure for Wilson, their clubs are back in a big way, I have the previous model CB's and I think they are more than a match for the major brands at a very good price point.
Nice to see this reviewed lads. I've played the D7Forged and now the D9Forged in the bag for 2024. So pleased with the value, performance, feel, looks and sound of the D9Forged. I'd assume these Dyna's are similar. Like Mikey though, the 5i was a no go in my bag and a 5H gapped so much better to the 6i. The 6-G are money though.
Wilson are back making bag worthy clubs, always played them in the 80’s, the blades were sublime, don’t play blades now, i blend my set and it looks like that’s possible with the Wilson offering. I will investigate.
Happy to see more Wilson coverage. Really liked the sound.
The delivery of “uncharacteristically good” was priceless.
I just bought the d9 forged on sale for 600 bucks 😁
They're very very good, and look great in the bag. Fair play wilson
Went to my local shop to check the new Blueprint Ts and ended up hitting the new Staff Model Blades.
Really enjoyed them and the price is great too.
Wilson with some very good offerings. Impressive product cycle all around later.
I got that Wilson staff blade putter. Absolutely amazing.
8802 life
@@lawbinson I started to get that one. I still may. I got the bl22 blade. But that one looks so dang good. I love the shape too. I tried Scotty Cameron phantom mallet, several oddesey and TaylorMade and armlock but this Wilson just feels amazing it's lasted longer in my bag than any other putter I've owned
Great as usual guys! Here comes Wilson!
Looking forward to the comprehensive review of the entire KBS lineup! 🎉🎉🎉
Big fan of the looks of these. If they come with some decent graphite options as well, that would be awesome.
5:37 What is in Mikey’s bag as a 5i replacement?
Mizuno fli hi? They rave about that club so that would be my guess
Need an update on Mikey's bag.
These are for sure on my short list to try this year
So is the “d” series replaced with these? I think the D9 were a lot better looking.
Yes, and yes I agree too.
I'd be interested in these if I weren't so completely satisfied with my C300 forged set.
Lofts are 2.5 degrees stronger too, so gapping can get wider and/or need an extra wedge
Was fitted by my club pro at Kinross GC for the Dynapower Forged.,,,, (My old irons were Cobra Aerojet) Was out this morning 7am for the first time with the new irons. The feel is soft, compared to my old irons, higher ball flight thou STOPS fast on the greens. Now have confidence of firing into the green and know its going to stop, with the 8. to GW.. Have now taken the SM9 49 wedge out of the bag,,, Took a bit of getting used to a thicker top line,, smile on your coupon with the soft feel you get, deffo worth the money,,, and and club pro was £100 cheaper than American Golf,, always good to support your club pro
My D900s are awesome, did a fitting and hit all the major brands, easily hit the Wilsons the best
So Mike hitting PW and 7 somehow 4.8 degree toe down... would this normally show a more left to right ball flight for right handed player ? (The 5Y saw some slight pulls with 5.5 toe down)
Interesting. I noticed Mikey's chs was the same with the 7i and 5i, which probably explains some of the 'gapping issues'. I have the same speed issue (just a few mph slower) and the same gapping challenge - not enough gap to slot a 6i in there but too much to take the 6i out. I'm thinking of strengthening the 6i a degree and the 5i 2 degrees (and maybe lengthening the shaft for a mph or two more chs) to stretching the gapping closer to what I want.
I already play the Dynapower's predecessor - the D9 forged 5i and 6i, and the staff CB 7i and 8i and I don't think there is a noticeable difference in feel so am surprised Mikey thinks the forged Dynapower feel harsher than the CBs. I guess, like beauty, feel is in the hands (and ears) of the beholder.
Good review and nice to see Mikey in the driving seat. What’s the descent/spin combo for 6 and 7 at 75 mph club speed? Isn’t that what these irons are targeted at?
just got 5-gw $900. really really wanted forged tec cobra but another $400 for graphite i liked
Would love to see a wilson staff model and staff model X golf ball review some time here in 2024
Mike doesn’t seem to fall back with the wedge like he does during driver videos.
Mikey. Barber's Cave. Ask for Razor
I know they said the brand of the shaft, but did they say if it was a regular or stiff shaft?
How are these Not going into Mikey’s bag!!!
If they would get rid of those holes in the sole. I just can't get over that.
Did I detect a hint of sledging from Mr Fraser? 😉😉
The boy is like a robot. Great consistency.
how is it different from the d9 forged?
4600 spin good for a 7 Guys?
The 7 is a 5 iron traditional loft s0 4600 is a touch low but not a travesty
@@autumnstar9475wrong, the 7 iron loft on these are 30.5, traditional loft on a 5 iron is 27. Trad loft on 6 iron is 30 so your way off
@@ultimatejay youre way off and ill informed. Maybe delusional. Traditional iron lofts would mean the time of the original staff model blades, og mizunos etc. those were 5 irons at 30 degrees. So yes thank you for confirming that this 7 iron is a rebranded 5. Youre wrong. Sorry bud
@autumnstar9475 All of you are wrong.
56° SW
52° PW
48° 9i
44° 8i
40° 7i
36° 6i
32° 5i
28° 4i
24° 3i
20° 2i
17° 1i
THESE are the traditional lofts.
This is exactly why discerning golfers should talk degrees loft rather than iron numbers, which is marketing speak.
You mentioned in a previous video that you would bend Mikey’s irons 2 up for the long irons and flatten the wedges, I’m thinking of doing this too with my new CB’s to help with the leaking 5 iron. What is Miley does in his swing that makes you consider that?
I'm doing the same JT. With a steeper but i--o swing plane with the short irons, I'm starting and sending them left. With the longer irons I have a slightly o-i path and start them straight but send them right. The flatter lie in the short irons will start the ball more neutral and reduce the left miss while the opposite will be the case when I make the longer irons more upright.
Weaken a bit the 7 and strengthen a tad the 5 and bang on :)
I think he'd lose the launch on the 5 though and not gain anything.
How do these compare to the D9 Forged from WIlson?
They are the D9 Forged replacement, so I'm guessing they are pretty similar.
Made from the same material, same lofts, D9 forged come with dynamic gold shafts though
I purchased the D9 forged to replace my Apex Pro 21’s for more forgiveness. After hitting both I’ve decided to practice more and use the Apex’s. The Callaway’s feel so much better.
I have totally the opposite experience, and opinion Brock. So, we're lucky there are so many options out there and we don't all have to play the same gear.
Know how to solve that gapping issue? Just put the darn lofts on top! Then I could have just 2 "8" irons that gapped out perfect smh...
Is the d9 forged not being replaced then is this it??
This is the replacement for the D9 Forged.
And looks slightly worse
These Wilson Dynapower Forged irons are truly game changers - my golf game now has uncharacteristically good luck...or so I keep telling myself! 🏌️♂️🍀
