Wilson is truly underappreciated. Their performance is outstanding, the feel is 2nd to none, and for the price...nothing even comes close. Moreover, the history behind the club is very rewarding as an owner.
I went into a fitting and this time wasn’t worried about what I got actually surprised me with how well they performed and I had only played twice this year, felt like I had total control and could flight it hit a tight draw and my stock fade. Always a plus that they are cheaper than the other irons and the look of these clubs is phenomenal
Me too - not sure if it’s only visual, but they look like they have very little offset even compared to some blades which is why I bought them. Curious how these look, I love a combo and if they are better in some way I might upgrade
I had the privilege to be fitted at the Wilson Innovation Center in Chicago for the Staff blades. By far the best irons I’ve ever owned. Had the CB’s and wasn’t sure I could play the blades (based on everything you hear about how hard blades are to hit) and surprisingly I hit the blades better. Great company!
At the start I didn't think you guys had the same energy towards these as most reviews you do but Wilson delivered at such a great price point. Everyone should give these a try if you go for a fitting
I had a set of Wilson Blades in the 90s and before people started telling us that we weren’t good enough to play them ! (Same clubs as Langer played) Stunning clubs and would love to play them again !
Same @FF04RDF. And I made the HUGE mistake of giving mine away and moving into a set of early CBs 😧. I haven't played a Wilson club since, but I have a set of these ordered already so now it's 😁 time.
I had a buddy over the other day to hit balls on my sim (BLP Launch Pro) and my D7 Forged were a solid 7 yards longer than his new Titlist T200 Forged.
I bought these pre order and played them, replaced the previous Wilson CBs and Cobra CBs . Had the best approach game yet hitting 12of 18GIR. Effortless control and feel. Phenomenal iron, might be best of the year.
Wilson fan boy here. They look great unfortunately I have to play game improving irons. Just recently purchased the Wilson Dynapowers and so far very pleased
Thanks for reviewing the Wilson staff MB and CB. I was looking forward to it. I can't wait to test it myself. I am especially curious to see how the adjustment on the toe of the MB will play.
I’ve been using the Staff model for 5 months and love them, just ordered the cab in 4 iron. Tried to go back to my PXG for the winter but found they felt like cricket bats compared to my blades. I’m a 17 handicap and have no problem using blades, great feel and sound and a beautiful flight.
Wilson Irons are amazing. I love them. I buy whats good when I find it on sale, so I bought Mizuno irons on Black Friday. If some Wilson Irons had been for sale for the same price on the same day, I would have bought the Wilson's.
Those Wilson Staff irons really perform well in your hands, Ian! For a very good to great ball-striker (as you clearly are), a blended set (maybe 4 & 5 irons in the CB and 6-PW in the blade) would be a dynamite setup. I played blades (mostly Golden Ram and Hogan Apex Redlines) in the 1980s through most of the 1990s, when I was a consistent 5-6 handicap player, but I did have a set of Wilson Staff blades back then, and I enjoyed them greatly. However, these days as a nearly 75 year old 14-handicapper, I have no business hitting such demanding irons. They do look really nice, though, and Ian certainly demonstrates that they are a great choice for the right golfer!
Always loved a wilson iron. I remember hitting the FG V6 (CB predecessor) and loving it! I want to say Padraig Harrington still was using those even after the last CB came out in 2021
100% would consider the CBs. I've had a soft spot for Wilson for a long time but, aside from a wedge, have never had them in the bag. These might be the ones.
Wilson are seriously underrated clubs, i have the previous Staff Model CB’s and in fitting they were more than a match for the P7MC’s at 2/3 the price.
Always excited for these reviews at the beginning of the year. The only thing I would love to see, would be a look down at address. A lot of talks about top lines, but a side by side, or a top down view would be nice so we could see what Ian and Mikey are seeing.
I just hit and ordered the CB’s! Do not be afraid of these, they are easy to hit and feel amazing! I currently play the D9 forged and was thinking about the Dynapower forged, which are great too, but the CB’s won me over!
When I was growing up the only golf clubs you could buy were Wilson irons in blades in places like Eatons and Sears :D looking forward to giving their new irons a try.
I used Wilson 1200-TN Gear Effect irons for years (up till last year) and I can say I had no issue with them, I treated myself for the 1st time in .... decades with a new set of irons. I got myself some Mizuno 223s but would have no problem whatsoever playing Wilson again. those Irons look real nice.
Nice! I’m still rocking the C300 Forged. I have plenty of speed, but don’t hit the middle often so I need the forgiveness. I’ve looked at D7F and D9F but the stronger lofts aren’t for me - they go too far. So the 33 deg 7 iron in the C300F is perfect and I won’t be changing anytime soon.
I got very excited as soon as I saw this title. My combo set are already on order and I can't wait for their arrival. Tell me these aren't some of the best looking, best feeling/sounding, and best performing players ions, EVER. Go on, I bet you won't 😁 BTW, I don't understand why Tour players don't want to hit blades. It's probably because they have never tried a Wilson Staff blade. These things (the previous model at least) are really easy to strike well, are VERY consistent and somewhat forgiving even for a single-figure mid-handicapper. I lose around 10 yards distance on my very worst 7i mishits but a Tour pro is rather unlikely to mishit the way I do.
I've got a soft spot for Wilson. My first real set of irons was Wilson Staff Dynapower blades way back in 1967. EVERYBODY played Wilson Staff irons back in the day, and Wilson had a large market share of drivers and fairways as well.
Play the d7 forged and absolutely love them looked at the d9 forged but the gains were minimal and liked the looks of the d7 better. Waiting to see if they do a dynapower forged iron this year, but those cb's have really peaked my interest. Totally underrated brand and very competitive with their pricing for what you get. Love the review guys and hopefully more to come. Cheers.
Great test gents. These irons look amazing and the performance is as good as any of the current similar irons. And, I bet they are a little cheaper than the competitors
He’s in a studio, on a perfect lie every time, and they edit out some bad shots if I remember correctly. It’s not that these videos are deceptive at all, but overall yeah if Jon Rahm and some of the best ball strikers on the planet don’t play blades I don’t think many need to. It’s all preference though, but if you want to “min max” your golf equipment, which is what fitting is meant to do, blades aren’t really ever in the question for 99.99999% of golfers.
Beautiful irons that perform as good as anything in n the market. However, there is one area Wilson is missing a model IMO. I have some speed so I still play the C300 Forged (a 33 deg 7 iron). I don’t want a 30.5 deg D7F or D9F - and presumably the Dynapwr Forged will be similar. But I’m also too erratic with strike to play the CB’s. Wilson need a model at 32 degrees (similar to TM P770, Mizuno 243, Titleist T150 etc). Other than that, their line-up is REALLY solid
Yeah, don't get me wrong, as always your reviews are in depth and on point. So well done there. But and this is a constructive criticism - please can you show the viewers the down the players eye view looking down on the clubface view of the iron like Michael Newton does, as consumers only really make their final minds up on purchasing an iron imho from this final view and that is because the online studio cgi photos of the iron are often misleading and the reality view shows a different picture. Thank you kindly and as always a very big thank you for being on the ball and the first studio to really in depth review these irons as requested with the numbers.
I have the Wilson Staff CBs/Blades combo currently....are the new ones worth it? They look almost identical. Your review of the last edition, was really good too.
The new models will combo better. Obviously from the back they look more similar which is “nice”, but it’s more in the blade lengths. In the previous model the blade was actually longer in the CB by quite a bit.
Good to see Wilson getting some love. Great to see how these perform and look, stronger competition in the golfing market can only be a good thing. If blades are a shrinking market and Wilson is trying to reinvent themselves, why would they put any resources into blades?
The previous blades were on the market for 4 years. You can’t do nothing. As Ian said, the main thing here is they have made the CB & blades more alike, so they can be combo’ed - previously they looked quite different.
Great content.. can you do a comparison of this model CB to the older version CB? So, 2024 vs 2021? That would be so helpful. No one has made a video about this. I think it would be great. Thanks!
Thoughts on JPX 923 tour vs this new CB? I got fit into either and I'm struggling to make a decision. My miss is in the toe and the wilson seemed to handle that so well
I like the fact that the blade and CB look like they are from the same family. The last CB and blade looked too different from each other, even though both performed very well.
I play Adams XTD Forged blades and im a mid high handicapper. I got rid of my cavity backs and my consistency has gone up 10 fold. No more jumpers whatever i put in i get out.
Lovely, I play Wilson Staff C200, which is old but works well for me. these are lovely, but I do wonder if anyone is actually gonna buy them? My mates certainly dont think well of Wilson versus TM etc
I already have the 2023 Wilson staff blades 3-pw, have just ordered the staff ZM wedges . best irons on the market , LOVE them!! May buy the 2024 blades just to have as a back up set. They are so accurate with distance control. Have come down from 7 to 5 handicap with these irons, Two sub par rounds in the 60's. Highly recommend these superbly crafted ,pure irons!!
Awesome video! I am currently gaming Wilson D7 Forged but looking to update this year. I want to stay with Wilson so if you can also test the new Dynapower Forged I would love to see those too! Help me make a decision!
As for the CB, that was what I have noticed than I had it in my hand first time and put it down. They could have thinned it much more like you have it on the CB 620s
Those CB’s have my attention. Testing D9 Forged at the moment but a 30.5 7i isn’t ideal. At a 34 7i with a nice cavity and classic set up, the CB is a winner. Replace my trusty S58’s?
The one area Wilson is missing a model IMO. I still play the C300 Forged (a 33 deg 7 iron) for that reason. I don’t want 30.5 deg D7F or D9F - and presumably the Dynapwr Forged will be similar. But I’m also too erratic with strike to play the CB’s. They need a model at 32 degrees (similar to TM P770, Mizuno 243, Titleist T150 etc)
Sorry to comment on an old video, hopefully you see this. Would love a comparison like this of all the miura irons (502, 101, km700) to understand how they all compare in the numbers. A little niche I realise but would be super helpful
All pga professionals should play 1 piece irons. No hollow body’s, speed slots, flexy faces etc.. it’s pretty wild they’re making the golf ball industry jump through hoops when the companies already have players 1 piece irons in their lineups.
I think the biggest mistake they made with their new putter line is what they put in the cavity. If it was this shield, or ‘staff’, maybe it’d sell better and look less like a Walmart putter.
Wilson is truly underappreciated. Their performance is outstanding, the feel is 2nd to none, and for the price...nothing even comes close. Moreover, the history behind the club is very rewarding as an owner.

Always a plus that they are cheaper than the other irons and the look of these clubs is phenomenal
I play the staff model CB model that has been in production for the last couple of years. They are amazing.
Ditto. The Wilson blades were more forgiving and consistent than p790s for me
I found the Wilson blades to be extremely forgiving for blades.
How does one get fitted there? I’m pretty close to there
I’ve got the previous version of the staff model blade from a few years ago. Hands down most consistent set of irons I’ve ever owned
At the start I didn't think you guys had the same energy towards these as most reviews you do but Wilson delivered at such a great price point. Everyone should give these a try if you go for a fitting
Wilson don’t have as much margin for them 😂 too cheap
This is the one review I've been waiting for. Played the last iteration of the Staff CBs and loved them.
They're the prettiest irons on the market imho
I had a set of Wilson Blades in the 90s and before people started telling us that we weren’t good enough to play them ! (Same clubs as Langer played) Stunning clubs and would love to play them again !
Same @FF04RDF. And I made the HUGE mistake of giving mine away and moving into a set of early CBs 😧. I haven't played a Wilson club since, but I have a set of these ordered already so now it's 😁 time.
Wilson best irons ever I play the forged D9 incredible irons
Just bought some and excited to play them when the rain stops!
@@mojohojo1210 you won’t be disappointed completely changed my game
Keep it coming Wilson. Climb back up!
Finally a review of the Wilson CBs. Hopefully getting fit for these soon.
Those looked and performed amazingly well. Very underrated in my opinion. I play the D7 forged irons.
I love the Wilson’s
I play the D7 Forged as well and love them.
I had a buddy over the other day to hit balls on my sim (BLP Launch Pro) and my D7 Forged were a solid 7 yards longer than his new Titlist T200 Forged.
@@JoshuaZwilling 👍Did his T200's have the same shaft as your D7 Forged?
I bought these pre order and played them, replaced the previous Wilson CBs and Cobra CBs . Had the best approach game yet hitting 12of 18GIR. Effortless control and feel. Phenomenal iron, might be best of the year.
"might be best of the year"? Nah. WILL be the best of the year 😆
Wilson fan boy here.
Bloody hell mike 😂😂 @7:43 “is he even alive?” 😂😂😂😂
I’ve been waiting for someone to review these, thanks!
The sole on Wilson’s irons is so nice. Smooth through any lie. If you try them, be ready to buy them. They are addictive to hit.
I’m like 20hcp and I rock a set of the older model CBs. They are great! I could do with a larger blade, but I don’t care. Love ’em.
i have the last gen W/S CBs, they are amazing. great content boys
I played the V4, V6, and the CB, so yeah this CB will be on order shortly.
I used to love my v4s, best feeling irons I had played even to this date. How are the newer irons in the feel department?
I’ve been using the Staff model for 5 months and love them, just ordered the cab in 4 iron. Tried to go back to my PXG for the winter but found they felt like cricket bats compared to my blades. I’m a 17 handicap and have no problem using blades, great feel and sound and a beautiful flight.

My D7 forged irons are still one of my favorite sets. I would like to hit the new CB's
I agree, I'm actually going to get the lie adjusted instead of new clubs because they great
On camera, IAN looks smooth with the Wilson blade… don’t sleep on the blades, with practice that swing will pure.
Didn't see you guys made a Wilson irons video!! Love to see it! most underrated manufacturer in the game IMO
Jerry Kelly needs to do an 18 hole match with Mikey just for those comments. 😂
Dying to see the Dynapwr forged irons! But I may just give these cb’s a run! Gorgeous!
Always excited for these reviews at the beginning of the year. The only thing I would love to see, would be a look down at address. A lot of talks about top lines, but a side by side, or a top down view would be nice so we could see what Ian and Mikey are seeing.

My daily gamers are the Wilson Staff Tour Blades era 1977/78 but these new blades are really catching my eye! Thanks guys.
Love wilson feel and look. Just might have to leap for the blade this go around. Thx guys.
I am trying the new CB's this year... so far I am very pleased with them
Played their tour blades back in college. No idea why they don’t bring back the red/black logo. Best logo ever.
When I was growing up the only golf clubs you could buy were Wilson irons in blades in places like Eatons and Sears :D looking forward to giving their new irons a try.
Clean looks. The dynapower woods and drivers were well reviewed too. Could be a good budget friendly option that performs.
Back in the day I played Hogan Apex irons and when you hit them flush the feedback is great, but when you don’t clunk.
These things are gorgeous.
The deviation on the CBs was amazing
For mid to low handicappers I'd recommend CBs.
The Blades are great for good ball strikers, low handicappers
My first set of real irons were the Wilson Staff Ultra 45s. Wilson always has been a very solid company.
Still gaming the V6s - no plan of replacing them packs everything I want in an iron! Really consistent numbers

Dynapower forged review coming soon?
That CB looks great.
As a Titleist T100 user. These look incredible. Fitting coming up, I feel
Wilson irons are legit IMO. I’ve had the D7 forged for a while now and I love them…even with the power holes 😂
I've got a soft spot for Wilson. My first real set of irons was Wilson Staff Dynapower blades way back in 1967. EVERYBODY played Wilson Staff irons back in the day, and Wilson had a large market share of drivers and fairways as well.

Hey guys, would you say that the 7iMB is similar in size and play as the Blueprint S 7i?
Every time Ian tests blades he absolutely stripes them all while telling us that he can’t hit blades and no one should play them
1000000% CORRECT!! It drives me absolutely crazy.
"If you're wondering if you're good enough to hit them, you're probably not" Ian's like an Asian parent...
effing LOL@@vboriraj
I think hes projecting the performance onto actual grass/course. Striping is easy off a mat.
He’s in a studio, on a perfect lie every time, and they edit out some bad shots if I remember correctly. Beautiful irons that perform as good as anything in n the market. However, there is one area Wilson is missing a model IMO. I have some speed so I still play the C300 Forged (a 33 deg 7 iron). Thoughts on the CB vs the titleist t150s? Forgiveness and looks?
T150 probably pack more punch off the face and are stronger lofts as well
No denying the quality confidence with Wilson and the prices are more affordable for most. Cheaper price and high quality, hard to beat
Yeah, don't get me wrong, as always your reviews are in depth and on point. So well done there.
