Unique style born from his love of the blues and is Irish heritage. He plays the sax, guitar, and piano, writes, produces and arranges. His roots are deep in the blues but he's managed to fuse his influences in brilliant ways. Like I said....dig.

Sadly, Janet could not reconcile the fragile dream of the songs that he claimed were true at night with his rage that had become her daily life. Of course, by this time Van was a money-making machine and everyone blamed her for his eventual musical slump that lasted thru the 80s (until 1987, when he wrote "Someone Like You," which may be about his second wife, or about looking for someone like Janet nobody knows for sure). I was reminded recently that in two days it marks an anniversary of a first date that I had 27 years ago. I went to a bar with my date and the band playing was led by a friend of mine. About an hour into the date he dedicated a song to my date and it was the signature song of Van Morrison, namely "Brown Eyed Girl". 27 years later she is still my brown eyed girl and I feel so lucky.
