    This a useful comparison. The Associated will probably be the better race truck. It's an upgrade version of the old SC10 which I still have and drives well. I think that parts availability will be different at your local hobby store. Almost every store will have stock of Traxxas parts. These are both brushless so my personal experience may not directly apply. I have worked with school club for many years and we use the basic Slash. When you buy a Slash you might as well invest in a set of aluminum or RPM rear hubs, because they will break. I noticed when you did a price comparison of the front arms you compared the price of RPM Slash arms to the stock arms of the ProSC10. When you compared chassis replacement you compared Traxxas LCG chassis to the stock chassis of the ProSC10. If you're gong to race the Slash against other manufacturers it would be best. But, if you're just bashing you don't need it. Changing just the spur gear is much easier on the Slash for people new to r/c. I love my old SC10. It's a great truck and it has held up extremely well over the years. I assume the upgraded version would be the same.

      Yes - I compared the upgraded parts for the Slash, because if you are buying replacements, that is what most folks will go with instead of stock parts.

      upgrading shocks, hubs, steering rack, servo and arms are pretty much mandatory on the slash because they are gonna break sooner or later. the sc10 you probably dont have to upgrade much.

    With the SC10 being on sale right now for $299.99 it’s definitely looking like the better buy. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Traxxas but after watching this comparison I think the SC10 is going to be my choice for a first time go fast truck. Thanks.

    This is a great comparison, just recently I took a dr10 drag car when they were on sale an transferred sc10 rear end parts over and upgraded all transmission gears and threw a new body on it with some rpm parts all under 300$ for brushless 2wd lcg short course truck is amazing, but I built a lcg slash with a velineon 3s set up from ground up with all rpm parts and Tekno rear axles for around the same price as the vxl new and wow it is amazing and much more reliable in my experience. Biggest complaint with the team associated I agree with is the servo horn.

    The HCG chassis vs the LCG chassis is the deal breaker for me. It's more expensive & simply will not handle as well. I suppose if someone is bashing only and never racing, maybe they won't care. But he decision of the SC10 seems like a pretty easy one.
    And while not a huge deal, the metal motor mount on the SC10 vs the plastic transmission case is relatively important. Traxxas has rectified that with the Magnum transmission but that's pretty expensive. (oh and watching this video. I forgot about the eclips. eww. Good job in pointing that out)

      Did you see the part of the video about parts availability?
      You can get all the parts for both trucks in just a couple days from sellers like AMain.
      I see this argument for Traxxas all the time, but in this age - it just doesn't hold up anymore.

    Different class i know, but would the Pro4 SC10 4wd out perform the 2wd Pro2 SC10 for general running/hooning around. I do have the Pro4 SC10 & love it, but have never driven the Pro2 version.

      I believe so, yes. Having all 4 tires pulling would really help with traction and air control.

    I was surprised that “beginner” SCTs were the $3xx brushless versions…why not the brushed 2wd slash vs something like the Losi 22 SCT?

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Рік тому

      I rarely suggest brushed for a basher. The owner will then be buying 12T Titan Traxxas motors like candy - that is not very helpful.
      The Losi 22 SCT that I have seen in person did not appear to have very good performance.

    • @wild.oscillator
      @wild.oscillator Рік тому

      Don’t disagree - I only mean that myself and most beginners I know started with cheaper brushed cars and it wasn’t until we knew better or had more to spend that we went brushless. (Fwiw the losi is pretty good on 3S and can be upgraded easily later on )

    What kind of tires are on the slash?

  • @bustedaw11
    @bustedaw11 Рік тому

    I'd take the pro2 everyday of every week.. the slash is literally a stampede with a different body and a wider chassis.. the stock slash shocks suck, the front hubs break easy, same for the rears. The stock axles suck. The diff is terrible compared to the associated one... the slash is a 30 year old design rehashed into something new looking.
    Spare parts are everywhere and cheap for the slash but to me there is absolutely no comparison of these 2 trucks..

    • @bustedaw11
      @bustedaw11 Рік тому

      BTW. I own 3 slash, a prosc10 and an original factory team sc10. I have around 10 traxxas trucks here... I'm just over them as they never actually get any better and as the prices on them rise I just can't justify the trucks anymore
