    Works amazing. My quarter panel on my truck was damaged. 3 ft by 1 ft area fill of scratches. This took the scratches down to 90%. There are a few very small deeper scratches left. I have to say this thing is amazing.

    I have used this to remove swirls, restore headlights, and wax my car and I love it.
    Make sure you use the correct pad for each type of detailing. The drill you want to use is a light weight variable drill, with an RPM range of at least 2k. the drill used in this video is the same dewalt 3/8 drill I have and it works great. I have a slower black and decker drill that didn't perform well with this DA.

      What is the RPM max on this drill?

    • @thewildwhisper
      @thewildwhisper 6 років тому +1

      Chris Cordless drills don’t go above 900 rpm so they wouldn’t work. Any variable corded drill will work as they easily reach 2000 rpm

      Not sure what wildwhisperer is talking about but cordless drills will definitely work and they will work very well. My DeWalt has a 3-speed transmission that offers 0-575; 0-1,350; and 0-2,000 RPM.

    I really hope Meguiars will do version 2 of this, with replaceable backing plate. I have few DA backing plate that deteriorate over time, hence why i didnt jump into the bandwagon on getting this added to my arsenal.

    only polish if you really really need to. 1 to 2 times a year max. everytime you polish it remove a very small amount of the clear coat. so if you do it often you;ll be in trouble. i personally use a glaze, gives it a good shine without the clearcoat removal. as for waxing do the beading test. wash your car, if the water doesn't bead its time for some wax, that's usually around every 3 months

    Like what zacharycarney stated, also a cordless drill would run out of power quickly. But if that's all you have, you'll be fine doing small areas or if you have extra battery packs that can last a while.

    It does do its job. Remember just like any paint correction it all depends on skill and amount of time and how you do it. My first usage turned out quite well. If I had a bigger pad and bigger jars of compound and polish and double checked my progress it would have been much better!

    This looks good for a motorcycle. I would like to try it, but don't want to spend all the money on the whole system. What I use now on a motorcycle is a Mothers mini ball that works great for compound and polish might sound nuts, but it works. I would really like to try it.

    I have used the compound, polish and wax and they transformed my car. I used a different da polisher and when using the wax I used the pad they supplied in the box and applied by hand. In the video he wasted so much wax. Just apply a little at a time and you would be surprised at how far a little can go.

    You probably let the polish dry, try using either an IPA solution or applying more polish to liquify the dry polish and it should wipe off easily

  • @zacharycarney

    my guess as to the reason they want you to use a corded one is because the constant use and resistance from the DA will drain the battery and result in uneven performance. again this is just my guess.

  • @timothybird3360

    the polish cotains heavy oils so you spend all day working for that shine and 1 wash later shine gone , or you end up swirls , and a dead drill .

    Can you go straight to polish formula without compound first ? I just have fading.

    • @meguiars
      @meguiars  17 днів тому

      Usually "fading" is a sign of oxidation and the best way to address that is with an effective but safe compound like our Ultimate Compound. Using a polish (depending on which specific polish) may temporarily restore gloss/shine but may be ineffective at removing the oxidation.

    Shouldn't you Prime the pads before using with a pad Conditioner?

    • @meguiars
      @meguiars  5 років тому

      Hi Raymond, the technique you mention is typically used by professionals when working on sensitive paints. On a d/a polisher with foam pads, it is not necessary to prime pads with any spray wetting agent prior to using. The liquid being used disperses very quickly across the face of the pad, providing lubricity.

      Sorry to hear about your experience. Certainly cannot comment without many more details but generally speaking theres is a limit of what is possible with this tool. This tool does offer better results in many cases versus hand application but it is still short of a dedicated DA machine and/or more aggressive mixes of pads, products, etc.

    i got one of these. i used the ultimate compound and polish. the compound was extremely difficult to remove and the polish was not much better. both products looked uneven after buffing off the products. after 10 minutes and 2 towels to remove the product i still could see where there was some residue. it took a lot of pressure with the towel to remove these. i'd never be able to do the whole car in a day.

    • @rafa1503

      3M Polish is pricey but you avoid this problem. You absolutely don't need to do one panel at a time. I have had to sand and buff as many as 4 cars a day and have used every polish sold. If you get an area that is hard to remove use warm wet microfiber towel.

      Usually you would compound to get rid of the scratches then use the polish to even it out and make it more shiny. After that you would wax it. Its kind of like using 1000 grit sand paper then dropping down to 3500 grit then using something to fill in the tiny scratches to make it shiny.

    • @meguiars
      @meguiars  3 роки тому

      Can't speak for someone else's product but if you are referring to a product that is a cleaner/wax you can choose any of the 3 options depending on what level of defects you are hoping to remove. If have swirl marks, fine scratches, oxidation, or water spots you will likely want to use the foam cutting pad (burgundy). If you do not you can use either the polishing pad (yellow) or the finishing pad (black).

  • @strangevarius
    @strangevarius 7 років тому

    My polishing pad (yellow) was detached from it velcro. I've just using it for a panel (front hood),.When trying to detached the pad from DA power system, it easily fully detached from the velcro. I'm not sure why it happened, the velcro was completely soaked with polishing compound when it detached and the pad is still brand new. Any suggestion how to make it stick together again? btw, I noticed that the burgundy pad has full size velcro compared to polishing and waxing pad.

      Yes, you can certainly use a cordless but keep in mind the power varies widely and may not remove defects as well during the compounding step as a corded drill with better consistent power. If you are simply spreading wax it should not make much of a difference at all.
