Austin, thank you so much for meeting with me and helping me find my first Rolex. What an adventure we had. I hope my video does our journey justice. I plan to finish production very soon with teasers being up by next week. Until we meet again my friend!
A wonderful choice, well done Austin for helping him with authenticating and advising, your a star. He will do well to avoid the irritating "itch" of the two tone. Best always from 🇬🇧
This was very interesting! As part of my job, I can occasionally travel to Asia so I'll be looking out for some great pieces like this. Excited for Festus!
I think TT is awesome, of course I cannot afford a solid gold. Have a TT GMT YG and love it. They are a bargain these days. Around 6k less than a Rootbeer and it has the green GMT hand and green lettering.
Great wprk Austin and festus. Lovely rolex. Austin, im in tokyo in january and would love to pickup a 36mm DJ. Any tips on shops not too miss for a good deal and quality watch?

Where would be a good place in japan to buy a new or near new blue dial 41 datejust, fluted bezel and on a jubilee bracelet? What sort of prices are they going for, I'm going to try my luck at a few of the rolex botiques 🤞
That was a super cool video and with a happy ending! Thank you 👏🏼 I learned a lot from this one as always, I have a silver 1601 that my grandfather bought at an AD in Ginza in 1969, a wedding gift for my father, which has now been passed down to me. I hope to set up an watch excursion with you the next time I am in Japan, hopefully while the dollar is still trading higher. 🤞😃
Great video and nice Festus found his watch, which suits him. Pretty shocked about Rolex RSC vacating. I don't want to be left to the mercy of department store to RSC dealings.
I want to get a rolex explorer II in japan soon. Can you give me some tips about how to choose and how old does a rolex is considered still good to buy?
I always say, go for the piece, not the shop. That's because two shops can price the same watch differently by hundreds or even thousands. Also, just blindly buying from any one particular shop doesn't guarantee you aren't going to get a pieces with unoriginal parts or one that's overly polished. So, buy the right piece, don't rely on any one particular shop.
I went into two Rolex stores to pick up a datejust. The salesperson said she will go check. Not even 30 seconds later, she walks out of the stockroom and said they don’t have any. I’m pretty sure they would know ahead of time if they really didn’t have any. Having said that, is there a way that they would actually sell watches to normal people that actually want to own one and not flip? Any advice? I’m here for another few days and don’t feel like attempting to go into one again.
Austin, if I order a watch from Japan what are the custom duties coming to the US because I see the prices on most Rolex and Tudor a couple thousand dollars cheaper . I am looking for a Tudor Big block Chrono with the Rolex case back and Rolex Crown . Let me know your thoughts . In Japan I am seeing these in the 5-6k range where there are here for 8-10k . Also could you let me know the best locations for buying in Japan . Thanks
@@watchsymposium I found a Exp 1 at Quark, 2020, full set, for same price as the cheapest on C24. So, no smoking deal but decent. I went to a couple other shops and only found lower tier pieces. I will say I just went to places right on the strip. Good info...
these 8-9K usd second hand submariners, are not cheap AT ALL there were other ones for much less in other videos 2 years ago Damm. japan became expensive
Hey Austin, I’m coming to Japan in October , can you help me get a Rolex?.. I thought I would just ask, who knows I might get lucky. Waiting for your response
Are these used watches, if so, why would anyone consider buying a used watch? The one that you should around 6:10 in video is a piece of crap I can’t even believe this would be a consideration to anyone?
Austin, thank you so much for meeting with me and helping me find my first Rolex. What an adventure we had. I hope my video does our journey justice. I plan to finish production very soon with teasers being up by next week. Until we meet again my friend!
How do i meet you in tokyo ? @austin

Great video Austin. Your channel is one of the best watch channels on YT IMO.
They should make a Studio Gibli film about Austin and Festus' adventures in Japan.
My Neighbor Austin
What a dream that would be! Hopefully my video does our adventure justice when it drops!
@@festyvous Nice! I’ll sub to your channel now! Enjoy your Rolex bro.

Nice video. I think Festus will regret not getting that two tone DJ.
I think TT is awesome, of course I cannot afford a solid gold.

Never! I’ll just get it as my second haha

Austin, try to find the nastiest, dirtiest, grimiest, filthiest, most depraved Explorer II in Japan!
Congrats Festus! Wear it in good health baby!
Thank you! Will do!
Thanks guys that was a lovely video 👍

6:43 beautiful watch!
What a nice chappie Festus is!
Thank you, much appreciated!
The submariner has a “frozen” dial , caused by moisture
Love the crackle look
Interesting - thanks for letting me know!
Where can I get a Rolex Day-Date 40 White Roman Dial Reference 228238 for under 40k? I’m coming to Japan in a few weeks.
Hey Austin, @11:15 may i know if the prices are before or after tax?, how many % is tax refund
Well done sir....a good fun video
Why you gotta post this a week after I left Tokyo lol… but came home with a GS!
Congratulations Festus! You chose the right person to be your Rolex guide. ❤
Thank you!
Amazing info! Do you know when they started using 904L for the GMT-Master II?
Oh he did good thanks for helping him you’re such a cool guy Austin happy thanksgiving
How much was the oyster fluted bezel two tone that was above budget?

What store do you recommend in Tokyo for a 16013, 16014, or 16233 datejust 90s for a good price I’m going next month and hoping to bring one back

A Tudor isn't an option? For that price point maybe that's the best solution.
Is it cheaper to buy something like a Pepsi GMT Master II in Japan, as opposed to buying in the US?
HI Austin, may I ask for the location of the store, I will be in Tokyo this coming March 24. Thank you for all your post I really love them

Like these videos.
Those are cool!
Do most watch shops accept credit card in Japan? Or how do you pay?
Some only cash, but credit cards too in quite a few.

Hi austin update prices in japan
99 upvotes... Alright, I'll give one.
Were these all at Moonphase? I heard Quark was ok.
The first couple were at Moonphase, before we headed to Nakano. Quark is good, but expensive.

Damm. japan became expensive
Tokyo prices are ridiculous, way higher than HK despite the Yen deprecation. Those dealers are out of touch
I would have liked to heard the U.S. dollar value !!!
$1700~ USD
Looks to me he just wanted to buy the name. Not a specific type of watch. Personally I don’t get that.
A brother named Festus !!!
In the flesh!
I think you should purchase a really nice homage and save your money!
he should buy a Tudor.

Great video thanks that’s what I do every time I’m in Japan
Even the real ones are worth $500 max I guess?
It makes no sense for them to say running or non running. That’s just them and their skill level. Bollocks!
