As a safer seas player and high seas player with over 1400 hours I don't have an issue with safer seas. The issue I have is the mixed messaging around it and restricting certain world events that just don't make sense. World events in general are designed for other players and pvp. So, allowing some but not others just doesn't make any sense. Not allowing players to reach pirate legend also doesn't make any sense and not allowing existing legends like me who want a break from the stress of high seas but still want to enjoy the experience doesn't make any sense either. People love sea of thieves. Let them play your game the way that they want to. The core fanbase can still go to high seas I don't understand the toxic mentality of the player base that gets so butthurt because you earned your pixels differently or you like to play the game in a different way. THAT is what is alienating players and limiting growth for the game. Safer seas needs to act as a private server where you can experiment with the games sandbox. Safer seas should have been like custom servers like you said. Sometimes I just want to mess around with the games elements and sandbox elements to have fun with friends like in Halo custom games like you mentioned. Imagine having the ability to spawn in world events and skeleton lords. Placing the black pearl wherever you want, the ship from monkey island tall tale, spawning 100 kegs, making your own world events, and generally experiencing the game with no restrictions creating scenarios that just wouldn't be possible in current servers. This would bring back a lot of people who just want to have fun with the games sandbox without being told you can't do this, and you can't do that. Halo Infinite another Microsoft game gives the tools to the players allows them to setup their own A.I. User generated content has long been proven to extend the value of a game beyond what developers can support. I'm not saying Sea of Thieves needs to have mod support, but I am saying that at the very least we need custom servers that give us the keys to the castle. I would gladly spend 20 or 30$ to have my own custom server hell they could even make it a part of a subscription service. Being a part of this subscription service would give you access to custom servers that allow full control over a server without any progression or gold, and then perhaps a 10% discount on all pirate emporium items. As a community we seriously need to push for this custom sandbox custom server mode to come to sea of thieves and give us as players the ultimate freedom.
you know, it honestly just makes me sad watching the state of the game decline and watching most sea of thieves creators lose the enjoyment they used to have in the game. Rare needs to do something to fix this and i don't think they have it in them
And they've started taking action recently with some of their changes, it's not like they can fix the game overnight but they're at least starting down the right path. Really anything that they've done over the last few weeks had been miles better than whatever we've had most of the year.
the biggest issue new players have is the interactions with enemy pirates. the learning curve for combat is so high, that even players who have been playing for half the games lifetime are still getting crushed by people who have been playing since day 1, and its usually not even close. learning by doing is almost impossible in the high seas climate. you can watch tips and tricks videos, learn the mechanics inside, outside and upside down, but it is very hard to execute that. since day 1, ive advocated for safer seas to be a maximum of 2 crews, but only inviting friends as the other ship, so you can practice pvp in a controlled environment. (not to mention the players who rp, as few as they are, limited to 4 people, which doesnt work some of the time) plus it can be a pain trying to play with more than 3 other people. bottom line, safe seas should add an 'invite another crew' option to help ease the players into pvp. im not saying that itll help them go toe to toe with a veteran pvper the second they get into high seas, but its better than what we have now
I play plenty of PVP games, I enjoy them. I also enjoyed pvp in SoT for a while but let's be real, aside from naval combat, the PVP in SoT is shit. Sometimes I just want to chill with homies. Forcing me to play the way you want (pvp) is game grape. The difference between games that are PVP centric and games like this and GTAO is that pvp is really an afterthought which can also devalue pvp as a whole. I don't see the problem in having both PVP and PVE servers, at least you KNOW the other party WANTS to engage which makes the experience a thousand times more fun. I personally receive no joy from randomly shitting on another player who is just trying to have a good time and I'd feel more accomplished playing against someone who wants to fight back. I know it's a pirate game, but I also know a lot of people like to play games to get away from the harsh reality of the real world. People tend to be shitty, and some folk just like to have a break from that now and then.
Safer Seas is great for Tall Tales, wanting chill no stress quick sessions, getting to grips on controls as a beginner or playing with your children. Lets be real, children shouldn't be exposed to some of the shit from other players on high seas.
This is literally the only reason I use safe seas. I don't feel like sweating on a brig with my two small kids that just wanna do a sea fort and play pirate dress up 😂😂
@@Manguatz1703 they do good to make it off the outpost. I just let em explore and sail around. My personal time is spent in HG cause I hate runners as well
Safer seas should also have all previous adventures and story content like the ability to play bite sized versions of story content (like Flameheart’s head ghost ships). Imagine a mode where you could go back in time and play a more cohesive story like the players who have been playing since day 1. They got to experience everything as it came out and saw how the world changed. You should be able to do that in safer seas. Safer seas should also have dueling other players.
Dueling other players makes no sense. Safer Seas was made to NOT be forced in combat, you want to do PvP just play open seas, so silly makes no sense LOL!
Gold doesn't matter. If it doesn't matter then who cares if there is a solo game mode? Sweats do, that's it. If Safer Seas bring in new players that only play it solo, who cares? They were never in High Seas. Again, the sweats do. If the existing players leave the High Seas to go play the Safer Seas. THAT says something about the High Seas.
@@iantaylor8148 yes and also best to play with ur kids without having random sweats cuss at them and spam slurs all the time in fights i rather have my kid not have that and just fight pve mobs together and have a great time instead sadly sweats dont understand that at all and cry for the easy targets going low and wish SS would not exists but it has good use for some things like this
Daily Reminder: The only people who have an issue with Safer Seas are simply salty that they don’t get to bully new players who can’t defend themselves anymore. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.
Not true at all, personally I wish all the people playing high seas that run into the red sea would just go to safe seas, it was made for them, I would rather fight boats that actually fight back in high seas, its a lot more enjoyable than hg when you get a good high seas server, pretty rare though
@@hodge2739Nobody Who Is sane fights back in High Seas because Is not remunerative, if i'm empty and i have Just some things i can go in the Red Sea or Just vote to destroy my own ship, it's way Better than start a long fight and earn nothing
Gotta disagree. The problem my friends and I have been running into since Safer Seas was added is that, while we do enjoy PvP, we also love the friendly interactions you can have in Sea of Thieves. It was always fun to come across people who were struggling to fight off a larger ship or skeleton ship, board them and help them out, and then start an alliance with them. We'd also group up with people doing world events, protect some people while they sold stuff at outposts, and even just chat and play music with people. The problem now is that Safer Seas has caused a lot of the people that were friendly enough to have random friendly interactions to move to Safer Seas, and it caused the remaining friendly players to become SUPER paranoid. Most people will just shoot on sight now, or double cross you later. The friendly interactions ARE still there, but they've become incredibly rare. Don't get me wrong; we absolutely love PvP as well, hence why we stick to the high seas. But PvP wasn't the sole purpose of the game, and now the existence of Safer Seas seems to have just caused people to assume they should always fight anyone they come across, no questions asked. It's made it hard to feel excited whenever we run into people because, more likely than not, it's going to go the same way 95% of the time now.
@ Yeah but see, that’s what the game has ALWAYS been like. I can count on one hand the number of positive interactions I’ve had with other crews since I started playing this game back in 2022, because the vast majority of all players in this game react to another ship with ‘sink them and yell racial slurs first, ask questions never’. ‘Friendly interactions’ really aren’t a thing in this- Any cooperation or friendliness is only ever enforced with violence, by being better at PVP and forcing others to do what you say by simply being the biggest dude in the room. Look at Phuzzybond’s recent Glitterbeard video- he flat out admits ‘Yeah there is absolutely no way this could ever have ever worked unless I was able to enforce my will on three other crews by being better at PvP-‘
Why not make Sea of Thieves fully PVE game, with AI pirate crews around the world, like in AC4, with optional instanced PVP as ya know.. Arena that is actually cared for by devs?
Aswell as Every other sandbox game, this has always been a problem with them in general, they get their Audience then fall off when the game loop has been discovered cause sandbox games has a fundamental problem which is content implementations and the need to play with friends being a selling point. Minecraft, Rust, Ark etc. Follow these philosophical design principles which ultimately ruin the work flow for how they function for the player, if Souls- born enjoyers has a problem with the sandbox than the devs need to cater to that Audience and shape the sandbox to fit their needs but if Animal crossing enjoyers like the sandbox than where is the supposed "real fanbase" in this situation, than baahm you got a game catering to no one
Safer seas is just another button press to get into game, always has been to me Though custom servers (proper custom servers not the mess we have now) would be soooo much fun to see what the crazy people into the community could do with em
Safer seas could be far better if were sailing safer seas we dont care about hour glass or reapers. Remove the cap from everything else and just let people play what they want.
No, I don't want to play your part of the game, no one that has a bit of skill does because it's boring after a month max. SS is a failed experiment, it pleases no one as the PVP community think it's taking away from it's side of the game and the PvE crowd will ALWAYS think it "HaS TOo MaNy ReSTriCtiOnS" like y'all didn't get everything you asked for
There's no wrong way to enjoy playing a game (unless you're actively making the experience worse for other players like hackers do). I occasionally use Safer Seas for adventuring when I'm tired and just want to relax without worrying about Reapers or PvPers. The gold and reputation never mattered to me, it's about the experience and what is fun for me at that moment.
Personally I don't see why high seas players have such an issue with this. Pirate legend isn't special anymore, cosmetics do nothing for performance, they're strictly cosmetic, and like others have said the high seas players simply want to troll and be toxic to newer players because there is zero accountability for what they say or do. Ultimately content creators, partners, rare, and high seas players need to understand that games are meant to have fun and not everyone has fun the same way. You can not force your version of a good time on another. Its like you go with a friend to a bar and you don't drink. Now because you don't drink with them youre somehow less. Its ridiculous and frankly those high seas players crying about safer seas being a thing just want to be pieces of garbage to other players.
If they added the ability invite other ships to safer seas then it would be perfect, for years myself and my friends have wanted to battle each other on the seas without getting others to invite one of us to their ship then leave, captain ships added and the use of sovereigns would be a very nice add but not super needed, more ships so friends can battle is all I personally want for safer seas.
Its not hard just provide a fully-featured sever set with limited to no pvp. With the restrictions it makes no sense to waste time on SS unless im grinding for the dark adventure set that costs millions. I dont speak for everyone but i know im not alone in the fact that i want a mode where i can come home after work plop down for an hour or 2 and grind without the threat of all my progress getting stolen by little timmy and his fowl mouthed friends.
@@Flamegardz@Flamegardz No, what cringe is ignoring a large portion of the fan base by telling them to "get Guud." while the game died with almost less than 10000 concurrent players and dropping. Even during the last big push to find new players on PS, it only had 30,000 players for one month. Meaning that the lack of unique content and the toxic PVP fan base chased off potential players.
@@MISTALAMA bro we didn't kill the game by playing it, you did by advocating for this SS buff. SS was fine the way it was before because it incentivised people to eventually go to high seas when they were experienced enough to stand a chance. Now there is no reason as you can just get anything you want from SS and high seas has no real incentive. Y'all ruined your own fun, not us.
@N3ROWASHERE Since the changes were only implemented a month ago, I highly wonder if the monthly decline is based on SS. Also, you can only get some of what you want; gold many have buffed, but with the level cap now at 25, most of the good company rewards are available with high seas, incentivizing players to get on to the high seas earlier than the old system. The decline of the current player base, according to Steam bd, started to decline after the PS update in May
My free time is limited with my job, so I can't bring myself to play a game, (or git good) where what little free time I have is ruined for the sake of someone else's minute of gratification. Give me a 200 dollar DLC called Sea of Losers, that is a copy paste of High Seas, but private. Able to invite friends that can bring their own ships or join yours. Keep pvp on, for friendly sport, and I'll give Rare my free time for the next decade, and two hundred bucks.
I would love to have custom servers, but I would kind of want to still have progression and gold. With a custom server you can do things like machinima's (like the old Neebs Gaming stuff), or host events, PvP only, PvE only, a mix of both but with rules, so many options. The main reason I would like PvE only and still keep full progression, is the simple fact that the game can be so relaxing for the average player. There is so much life and personality in the game by default, that even without players it can be deeply enjoyed. The main problem with Safer Seas, despite being able to focus on the environment, is that at every moment I was just reminded that I was being punished for not wanting to fight people 24/7. I would, without a doubt, pay money to make a custom server, better if it had mod powers and plug-in support. I could host an environment for more casual people, where all PvP has to be consented to, trolling is a bannable offence (no grabbing the Veilstone from another player and forcing them to fail the voyage), and just having good vibes all around. In the end, High Seas is too toxic and PvP oriented for more casual people, and Safer Seas punishes people for wanting a more calm experience, so a fully customizable experience would be awesome. They can even make it like Rust where each server has to be made with a fresh character, so if you went to another server or normal High Seas the progression would be separate.
The solution is staring RARE in the face and it is infuriating to watch them be incapable of perceiving it. MAKE PROGRESSION SEPARATE. High Seas has it's own progression & Safer Seas has it's own. You can play through the entire sea of thieves game in Safer Seas just the same as High Seas but if you go into High Seas none of your Safer Seas progression will transfer at all except for your pirate and emporium cosmetics. That's all they need to do yet they are dragging their feet towards the most obvious solution.
if you are playing with enough friends that you need multiple ships just play high seas, most players can’t handle being attacked by two boats at once sure there’s the occasional good pvper but at this point it’s rare to fight sweats bc we have pretty much all left the game since rare keeps nerfing us
Safer seas should allow 2 crews so you can actually get better at the game in a controlled pvp with friends way. Safer seas doesn’t help anyone if you actually want to learn how to fight because AI ships are complete pushovers. The only way to get better at sot is to fight others, and because safer seas doesn’t allow you to do that in a constructive way, it’s a failure.
Sea of Thieves was one of the first games I actually stuck with for a long time and I miss seeing people rush to get on call with each other doing a variety of things. I feel the community has massively diminished and it’s horrible to see such a good game be left quite dead and u interesting since everyone does the fotd over and over. It would be a shame for such an amazingly funny and entertaining game to be left in the dust.
I personal love seafer seas. It allows me to enjoy the game again. Now I play the game solo and don't like the PVP part of the game. For me it's never been fun on either ends of the PVP and being solo means most off my games ended up being chasing simulator. Safer seas just allows me to continue my grind to whatever whilst enjoying the game I previously loved. As for what I would change to safer seas. Either open it fully or as you progress in high seas, safer seas slowly becomes more open. IE if you get too 100 in gold Horders in high seas then in safer seas you can get to max level with them. The only true restrictions they should have is one ship and emissaries should go as high as level 3. I truly don't think it will be has bad as the community would think it would be and ruined the game. High seas will always be the best way to play it regardless what anyone says. Personally I love the game to death but things have changed for me and I prefer just to chill and do pve. Not having to look over my shoulder ever two seconds or being chased for 3 hours. I love this game and don't want to quit it just yet
No keep all trade factions lvl cap locked in safer seas. Everyone else got their achievements through grinding. PvE all you want, but don't start whining that you can't get pvp rewards as a PvE player.
@serve5803 1. What trade faction is there that can only be done with PVP. I'm pretty sure every single trade faction can be done with or without PVP. 2. What rewards are hard to grind from the factions 1-100 are highly valuable. 3. I never said make the PVP parts off the game pve. I said keep 1 ship in the server. You still need to go in high seas to get any rewards that requires another ship. again I never said HG needs to be pve. I don't know where your getting at the trade factions are PVP only. I've personally gotten every single faction to 100+ with very little PVP. All I'm trying to suggest is make all off the pve grind available in safer seas not the PVP grind. Also I own practically every pvp rewards in the game. Besides the 100+ rewards in HG. The only this I would change about that grind is lower it to 500 for the max and slowly add more levels when rewards comes out
Just do like GTA online. Make private servers with everything and allow your friends in and let the host allow pvp or turning it off, and let people queue for different types of pvp events like arena or faction fights 4v4 with shrinking zone like a battle royal, or free for all 8 ships. They need more pvp match based things instead of relying on the players to make pvp themselves.
This is honestly a really weird take lmao. Why does it bother you if someone wants to play a solo pve mode? Theres literally nothing of value to gain. Gold is, as you said, pointless. Theres no armor. All the weapons do the same thing. Whats the issue?
If they remove safer seas, all the tall tales are gonna stay there, i'm not wasting time on those shitty stories risking my ship on an npc player who's gonna sink me while i'm away, i think SS is fine this way, you can use it to play with someone who is learning or to play with your children, too much slurs and spawn camping in the game and let's be honest the community is toxic af, the worst, just add caiptancy to sell to sovereign and is perfect
I agree with this I enjoy both aspects but I enjoy playing with my son in pve but it is sad hes limited in aspects of learning tutorials and direction, the comunity exposure is literally the main reson why I hate bringing him with me on high seas, too many experiences with people randomly bing generally toxic, or abusive.
I’m pretty happy with safer seas with the recent gold changes. I don’t mind not being able to do captaincy. However I wish there was more lower risk pvp. I play as a solo and generally don’t enjoy pvp anymore now that I don’t have a crew and can only play every few weeks for a bit. I loved arena because I could just hop on without investing any time for pvp. There were resources already there, you didn’t have to worry about wasting your time, and the pvp was a chaotic blast. HG is far too punishing. I hate it. I have to stock up and the whole thing relies on streaks and it takes soooo long to get back into the action, and most of the time when you’re evenly matched it becomes a resource slog because both have invested considerable time into this and only 1 will gain everything and the other nothing. It’s not fair. There should be set resources, a shrinking zone, and an arena like scoring system to end matches that would otherwise end in a stalemate. Plus they could add time limited events to spice things up. This game was designed with PvP in mind but the devs sure don’t care about it.
I stopped playing the game when Safer Seas came out. Ironically enough, I don't even like to PvP but I hate it even more when companies decide to make the game easier without asking for my consent. No thank you, uninstalled.
Eh, you can be more efficient with your voyages on Safer Seas since you don't have to worry about watching your back and you don't have to fight anyone off. The tradeoff is you can't use a captained boat or sell to sovereigns. Feels like a fair trade to me. Edit: Okay, should have waited until the end of the video to comment. Yes, definitely agree about what safer seas *should have* been. Custom servers with no progression. I would have loved that to set up battles with friends. Or basically treat it like Minecraft creative mode. Could do a $8/month thing like Minecraft Realms to rent a server. That'd be awesome.
I can heavily debate he would make it a worse state actually, countless videos on him back peddling what he wants, then stuff is delivered and it’s not good enough(not talking season 14) been watching for years, they’ve clearly watched your videos, they’re listening, slowly, there’s 300+ games on game pass Play something else .
Do you realize how long it would take to essentially make a “forge” type mode for safer seas and add all that ? lol It’s a waste of time sadly and that’s the realization, they’re thinking of the future of there IP and I’d debate that they show more players go to higher than safer seas . Why focus on safer ? When you’ve had countless videos stating they should focus on making more to do around the world, such as make servers bigger, such as more interactive events and such, safer seas is NOT the place they should be focusing on
Fresh player here. What if - instead of safer seas, there would be some kind of "passive mode" like in GTA Online. Everyone is still in the same server, but players under protection can't target and can't be targeted by another players. You still can enjoy all the content without fear of being harrased. Of course there should be drawbacks - smaller rewards, level limits, a gold price to enable such mode. There are multiple ways to balance that, but I'd leave it for someone with more game knowledge than me. Another idea that popped in my head is option to keep all/part of the loot even after getting defeated by some sweats, but with another drawbacks.
ironically making it so you can earn 100% gold its still a pointless training mode. with over 5000 hours in game ill just run my bots on a 2nd pc to host me a private server where i can progress hourglass, athena, farm ANYTHING i want... with NO restrictions. no ones stealing from me baby! they have lost 30 million players. some of those would have 100% bought items from the cash shop. and we need that cash shop to keep the game going. seems moronic to push away potential paying customers. no arena sweat is buying cosmetics out the cash shop also this video posted now commenting on old safer seas not counting the changes that just got patched in? trade companies restricted to 25. gold income changed to 100% which literally doesnt matter lol. SoT is the best pirate game out there. but they refuse to cater to the audience that is clearly in high demand. there literally is no reason not to have full access safer seas. people already using discord to make pve servers, people like me who know how bad rare is at programming so can exploit the game to get a safer server just by having a 2nd pc. they could add higher incentives to play the normal game on high seas. we even have people paying patreons for alliance discords to get a cut in line feature to get on servers...... so people are literally willing to pay a monthly fee to get pve servers. why let that money go into random players pockets who just happened to setup discords when rare could be making monthly fee..... basically all i hoped for from safer seas was the ability to login, do what i want, when i want, without having to waste electricity running 2 machines. wait the 24 hours for a server to lock down so no new ships could join. i just wanna be able to load in anytime, do anything, then log off as i please. the 24 hours setup to get my private servers is just exhausting. these days by the time i got the server up and running im like.... ok do i care though? im not having fun any more. the games a buggy mess, stuff doesnt work, content is meh
I have a really good friend that hates pvp in games and is more of a pve guy. I wish to play with him on this game and im unsure if he will enjoy safer seas as it is
Best sailing combat game. Love the gorgeous world and the loot. If I get sunk, I am kind of stoked, because I don’t want to turn that loot in 😂 it is a pain in the butt. Went out to safer seas, way more fun for me, but turning loot in is waayyyy worse. Money doesn’t matter much in this game anyway. Rare needs to just commit, improve and support all modes.
They should make an game mode, integrated with just quest, making like hourglass match ie. Athena fort 3 galeons match - arena - winner takes prize fort, completes it and arena is disabled. Add new achievements, vendor etc.
The one that i really need in the sea of thieves are freaking new monsters! Like, huge sea monsters, not monsters on the island.. i just want there to be an implemented Cthulhu, sea serpents, or maybe, a slight off from pirates theme like monsters from the sky in the middle of sailing will be fun! It's a shame they only care about cosmetic and QOL
I just use Safer Seas more as a means to just grind the current Season. No players. Just me, Trials and a boat. Besides, most of my progression in Season 14 was no doubt thanks to my ventures in Safer Seas. Players had moreless just slowed me down in High Seas. I 90% agree with you on the Captain Ship limitation just Milestones should remain locked to High Seas as, once players buy their first ship, it'd help them learn how the system works and, once they move to High Seas; They'd have a Captain Ship and a new progression journey as they embark on their pirate story.
Solo sloop Safer Seas player here. Started on Xbox back when you could join other people as an alliance. Stopped for several seasons. Came back when I learned about Safer Seas. Recaptured my love of the game. Was going to get to 40 in the 3 main factions and jump on Sweaty Seas for the last 10 and get pirate legend then hop back to Safer Seas. The latest update cut me off at level 25 reputation instead of 40. I'll just stop playing the game until Safer Seas gets buffed. No way I want to waste time getting clowned on by sweaty pvp losers.
The problem with the safer sea update that the high sea players have issues with is the player count. Sot already has a declining population on its servers, how is splitting the player base by adding more incentive to play alone a good idea? Safer seas was fine the way it was
@@jamesvaldez5071 exactly 5 times last week as soon as i got on and was gathering resources. I was attacked in port with nothing but a level one emissary on board
I just want to be able to finish a Legnd of the Veil once witout some asshole ruining the work that took hours to progress in when my play time is limited because I have a job. So no I disagree Safer Seas is a good thing. I do agree that they should add more World Events to it so it caa ct as proper introductions to them. Like make it so FOTD or other World Events can be done in Safer Seas but give very low tier rewards in exchange and make the related commendation HS only. That way you can use SS to learn how it WORKS but not makeit so people can grind a World Event easily
"Safer Seas angered the core PVP base." You can....still PVP in High Seas. It makes them angry because it removes their prey targets who dont fight back and just want to hang out with friends and chill.
They should just remove safer seas and add private servers, if you want ppl to make like tournaments pvp or just play solo or with friends in different ships whatever the only thing I disagree is having HG on private servers cause ppl would just cheat all xp and get golden curses and achievements everything else is bs, just let ppl have fun, ppl just do mega servers anyway its annoying to lock servers but ppl already do it and there is fking nothing you can do to stop them so just add private servers and ppl that want random chaos will still choose normal mode, just imagine the content ppl could make with private servers and the ppl that would watch and get the game to try something similiar, rare is just fking dumb and missing a huge change that literally everyone would love
I like your ideas and concepts but as a newer console player I enjoy safer seas and would alternatively offer the idea of it being converted to a "story" mode where a player can start a game solo with ai assistants untill they assemble a full team such as having a player grind out the same way but reduced 25% gold and the ability to raise a merchant banner so they grab better sailing experiences using the "sandbox" mode understand even more mechanics, maybe a restriction on the rp to where the player no longer earns experience after a certain level
Also custom servers could actually attribute something to guilds... Whats the point of being in a guild of 25 people if only 4 can play in the same server.
I don’t get it, isint the whole point of safer seas to just give people a little boosted chance in high seas ofc there’s gonna be restrictions Sot ain’t a solo game (guess it kinda is these days tho)
I can't wait for Everwild. I'm honestly so done with the endless discourse around SoT, that I don't want to play. Hopefully that game is big for Rare so they can sunset SoT and I don't have to hear this PvE vs PvP endless arguement.
I don't get why players are punished in safer seas. If all they want is to play without losing their loot or interruption it's not a big ask. Games like ark are the exact same game with or without pop so why is that punished?
"All this PvP stuff is what drew people in" Clearly not, if the PvP player base cant sustain itself when the people who only put up with no-lifers finally have a place to play the game in the way they wanted to. If you have to argue against PvE content in your PvP game, your PvP game wasnt *actually* drawing in the crowd you thought it was to begin with. The only take away from this is that there was something inherently wrong with your PvP structure to not draw in the people that you need to sustain your game once the PvE players that put up with years of bullshit tactics, and sloops that sail into the wind faster than galeons sail against it, while also turning faster... The quote at the start of this reply, isnt the argument that you think that it is.
I wholeheartedly agree with this video. And initially when i joined, safer seas was only at 30% rewads. I was irritated because high seas is and was so so toxic and stressful. I also think that safer seas should also be optionally multi ship because i WANT to play with friendly people who are sailing other ships. I also think that limiting the servers to only five to six ships per server makes the world so empty, especially because there's next to no npcs they're essentially almost only shop keeps. I also think the game is incredibly repetitive with digging for treasure or fighting skeletons/ghosts. Or fishing. It's very boring. There is also a massive issue with motion sickness that Rare refuses to resolve. It makes playing the game for me so nausea inducing.
Safer seas is fine, generally speaking. It could teach combat better... but hypothetically that's what the Order of Souls quests is supposed to be teaching. If it's insufficient, then it might not be Safer Seas that is the problem, rather OOS and PvE needs better tuning. The story could also be told better, as is... unless you already know the story, SoTs story is a damn mess. Most people who played the A Pirate's Life TTs had no idea who Pendragon was when he showed up in the tavern to give his speech. Vets did... but newbies were just left going "who?". It's even worse now that adventures have come and gone. SoTs story presentation needs some love. While I sympathize with your desire for enhanced custom servers with better content creation tools, I'd be shocked if they actually made such things available for everyone. Even if they did locked it behind the emporium, it still wouldn't affect most players... no matter how good or bad the tools are. I dunno if Rare will divert resources into something like that if it doesn't directly benefit new players.
Safer seas has no place in sea of theives. Not to sound like a hardass but if you want a pve game with no threat of other players, sea of thieves is NOT for you. It has always been advertised as a pirate game, and the inherant risk of being on the open sea with other pirates should always be present. But now that a large portion of the fanbase is young children who are terrified of other players, its become clear who rare panders to
high seas is so full of sweats that only want to kill you, u can't even do a mission to get gold bc ur just trying to survive. the game isn't fun on high seas unless youve been playing forever andare amazing at pvp
I hate safer seas. It’s boring af and has pulled people away from high seas. If I played safer seas when I started, I would’ve NEVER played high seas and honestly just quit the game. The only reason I wanted to play more was to get better to get good against other players, or get skins to show other players I meant business. Safer seas is just a turn off boring grind, it’s just a different game.
A custom mode would be nice. Might save comp. Idk tho. They've clearly shown that they dont care about anyone except PvE players. Getting told by CMs that comp/high level PvP isnt a valid way to play and then getting banned from the discord for speaking out about balancing really sucked.
I’ll say it since everyone else is being a mitch. Safer seas is for people who are mentally ill and incapable of handling a death in main game. This server is catering to the people who genuinely and physically get upset after losing a reaper chest. The game shouldn’t be designed around these clowns yet here it is and look how it’s degraded. Taking only competition out of the game.
i say pve should be there atleast till rare fixes their servers, whats the point of pvp when hit reg, food reg and all that exists and can ruin your chances of winning
I only used safe for sea when I needed to get back to my old skill since I didn't play sea of thieves for years since my pc can handle it and I mostly play it off Xbox
Kinda dumb we got one pirate game and it's assassin's creed... This game is gonna fail soon but you guys aren't really helping infact I expect you are actually making it worse. The camunity is toxic to new players who don't know much and don't enjoy getting bullied by vets
they probably did this cuz of cheaters, one thing that is killing sea of thieves, thats why people wants a private server to play with friends, cuz fight with other players is the only diference betwen modes, besides that, with or without safe seas would change anything, the quality of the game is decaying for a long time, way before pve
I really feel that from the start they should have just made safer seas as a mode purely for learning the game and tall tales, they could’ve added tutorial npc’s to the outposts exclusively for this mode that you learn about the game from along with the only voyages you could do being tall tales or voyages directly linked to the main game story, no faction voyages outside of tutorial ones
not only does safer seas teach you nothing about player interaction, it teaches you lethal mistakes... for example, I was sailing in high seas with a friend who was new and we were on a simple X marks the spot quest on Wanderer's refuge and upon reaching the island I hear the anchor dropping... standard old player instinct kicked in and I ran to the ladders with blunderbombs, asking "where are they?", my friend goes "who?", I say "the enemies who anchored us", he goes "oh, I dropped the anchor", I ask "why?" after a small pause of disbelief, he responds with "that's what the game told me to do in safer seas to stop the ship" which I couldn't and wouldn't blame him for, I heard about this being a thing but I brushed it off as I saw it was too stupid to be real... but it was real, he even showed it to me through discord, and then we proceeded to learn proper sails management which he enjoyed as it made him feel more badass pulling a proper parking on a dock without anchor... but seriously, why are we telling people to drop anchor to stop the ship? it's literally a death sentence in high seas
@@kingaworoch2099 it's nothing of the sort. It could be a game saver. It could open the game to a new player base. Plus once you get the game home what has it got to do with anyone else how anyone plays.
@@MrHAPPYHAWAIIAN it's literally these statements and actions that have killed the game. Yeah maybe you did get "dialated" when you were new but if rare wants to get the player base stabilized for long term there needs to be other ways of playing instead of grind 3 hours and get robbed.
@@MrHAPPYHAWAIIAN nobody care how long you've played and read carefully, I stated your attitude and remarks are the why the game is dying. People with that mindset drive players away from games not towards them. Then as time passes the game becomes less popular until servers are shut down. I think it shouldn't be 100% Gold because now there's no incentive for new players to eventually go to high seas and experience the full game. the gold percentage should be 50-80% because it's enough to where it's worth it whilst pushing people to eventually go to high seas and experience everything this game has to offer that isn't in safer Seas
They give yall an inch and you take a mile, the gamemode isn't intended for players to stay on. It's meant for new players to learn, not to be lucrative.
Rare needs to do something to fix this and i don't think they have it in them
They have been fairly open lately a focused on game improvement. So who knows. Mind you I am going off of their stream they did.
@ they’ve been talking big for years. I’m tired of words. I want action, and that’s what the community feels too.
@@myles527699% of sot players quit before an update fixes sea of thieves

Really anything that they've done over the last few weeks had been miles better than whatever we've had most of the year.
@firegads9245 the problem is the bare minimum shouldn’t be rewarded.
the biggest issue new players have is the interactions with enemy pirates. the learning curve for combat is so high, that even players who have been playing for half the games lifetime are still getting crushed by people who have been playing since day 1, and its usually not even close. learning by doing is almost impossible in the high seas climate. you can watch tips and tricks videos, learn the mechanics inside, outside and upside down, but it is very hard to execute that. since day 1, ive advocated for safer seas to be a maximum of 2 crews, but only inviting friends as the other ship, so you can practice pvp in a controlled environment.

They could do it under the lens of memories taken by the order of souls and you are just reliving them.

That's skull and bones.... And well... See how skull and bones is

"If you try to please everyone, you please no one."
Basically Sea of Thieves entire design philosophy.

Agreed. Games should be about player choice.

No, I don't want to play your part of the game, no one that has a bit of skill does because it's boring after a month max. SS is a failed experiment, it pleases no one as the PVP community think it's taking away from it's side of the game and the PvE crowd will ALWAYS think it "HaS TOo MaNy ReSTriCtiOnS" like y'all didn't get everything you asked for
I love safer seas-that’s just my play style. I’m usually solo slooping, so it fits me.
Yes. Just to experience the world is great to me. The HC update is something I'm looking forward to.
The more I read into this that last statement becomes more accurate.

The decline of the current player base, according to Steam bd, started to decline after the PS update in May
@N3ROWASHERECry some more. Some people play differently than you.
They need to add captain ships in safer seas
I love that safer seas is a thing. The only thing I would do is make it so a second ship can join if you invite them.
if you are playing with enough friends that you need multiple ships just play high seas, most players can’t handle being attacked by two boats at once sure there’s the occasional good pvper but at this point it’s rare to fight sweats bc we have pretty much all left the game since rare keeps nerfing us
Safer seas should allow 2 crews so you can actually get better at the game in a controlled pvp with friends way.
I can't believe you just drop that you could play D&D on a custom server because now I crave that.
Game just needs to get rid of cheaters
@serve5803
The problem also is rare has nerfed it into the ground. And the game has died off as a result
I’ve been wanting custom servers with commands for a while now.
I'm sure Captaincy will arrive eventually.
6:57 I’m sorry…your assholes? plural?? 😂😂
Implying the game tore him a new one X3
I like safer seas for doing tall tales, but that’s it
I stopped playing the game when Safer Seas came out.

Another idea that popped in my head is option to keep all/part of the loot even after getting defeated by some sweats, but with another drawbacks.
ironically making it so you can earn 100% gold its still a pointless training mode. with over 5000 hours in game ill just run my bots on a 2nd pc to host me a private server where i can progress hourglass, athena, farm ANYTHING i want... with NO restrictions. no ones stealing from me baby! they have lost 30 million players. some of those would have 100% bought items from the cash shop. and we need that cash shop to keep the game going. seems moronic to push away potential paying customers. no arena sweat is buying cosmetics out the cash shop
also this video posted now commenting on old safer seas not counting the changes that just got patched in? trade companies restricted to 25. gold income changed to 100% which literally doesnt matter lol.
Forge seas would be anniversary levels of hype
0:39 Padło słowo klucz!
All I ever wanted to do was run a D&D campaign in SoT, but it lacks necessary tools like you outlined here.
Safer seas was fine the way it was
My issue is those who go too far in high seas. Trolling new players with no loot who just logged in, hoping to get them to quit the game.
That way you can use SS to learn how it WORKS but not makeit so people can grind a World Event easily
that is why i wouldn't do tall tales on safer seas is because i wouldn't progress up in the milestone to unlock the wild rose trinket
"Safer Seas angered the core PVP base."
You can....still PVP in High Seas.
You can cry over a game or enjoy what you got. Its up to you as individual
Lmk when sot 2 drops
Also custom servers could actually attribute something to guilds... Whats the point of being in a guild of 25 people if only 4 can play in the same server.
Should be able to have friends enter your SS server with their own ship
"All this PvP stuff is what drew people in"
Clearly not, if the PvP player base cant sustain itself when the people who only put up with no-lifers finally have a place to play the game in the way they wanted to.
I just started playing a week ago and I've never played safer sea's.
Making safer seas more like Halo forge mode is such a better idea wow
yeah it should add captain ship
Nah, I'm good without the threat of PvP. All that other players doe is stressing me out
I hate safer seas.
Getting told by CMs that comp/high level PvP isnt a valid way to play and then getting banned from the discord for speaking out about balancing really sucked.
i call bs brother
@@duckybananas2004 you can call whatever you want, doesn't make it any less true
i just really want new ships that arent world events
like please rare add the Chinese junks!!!
holes????
Look at all the cupcakes in here loooooool
I’ll say it since everyone else is being a mitch.
Safer seas is for people who are mentally ill and incapable of handling a death in main game. This server is catering to the people who genuinely and physically get upset after losing a reaper chest. The game shouldn’t be designed around these clowns yet here it is and look how it’s degraded. Taking only competition out of the game.
New sot video!!
i say pve should be there atleast till rare fixes their servers, whats the point of pvp when hit reg, food reg and all that exists and can ruin your chances of winning
I said it long ago Safer Seas was a mistake and would only hurt the game. The whiney players attacked me for it anyway. Whatever..
Ray making negative sot content again
Been a dead game for a while now
The creators are a bunch of clowns too
why are u hating so much lmao

I really feel that from the start they should have just made safer seas as a mode purely for learning the game and tall tales, they could’ve added tutorial npc’s to the outposts exclusively for this mode that you learn about the game from along with the only voyages you could do being tall tales or voyages directly linked to the main game story, no faction voyages outside of tutorial ones
not only does safer seas teach you nothing about player interaction, it teaches you lethal mistakes... for example, I was sailing in high seas with a friend who was new and we were on a simple X marks the spot quest on Wanderer's refuge and upon reaching the island I hear the anchor dropping... standard old player instinct kicked in and I ran to the ladders with blunderbombs, asking "where are they?", my friend goes "who?", I say "the enemies who anchored us", he goes "oh, I dropped the anchor", I ask "why?" after a small pause of disbelief, he responds with "that's what the game told me to do in safer seas to stop the ship" which I couldn't and wouldn't blame him for, I heard about this being a thing but I brushed it off as I saw it was too stupid to be real... but it was real, he even showed it to me through discord, and then we proceeded to learn proper sails management which he enjoyed as it made him feel more badass pulling a proper parking on a dock without anchor...
but seriously, why are we telling people to drop anchor to stop the ship? it's literally a death sentence in high seas
they never should've added safer seas. period. the real game is how to deal with other players. safer seas dont teach you any of that.
Yup, the only reason i would accept it's existence is if they were for tall Tales and anything beyond that was completely disablef
@@kingaworoch2099 facts
@@kingaworoch2099 it's nothing of the sort. It could be a game saver. It could open the game to a new player base. Plus once you get the game home what has it got to do with anyone else how anyone plays.
When I was new, I was dialated numerous times. Now it’s time for new pirates to be dialated😮😂
@@MrHAPPYHAWAIIAN it's literally these statements and actions that have killed the game. Yeah maybe you did get "dialated" when you were new but if rare wants to get the player base stabilized for long term there needs to be other ways of playing instead of grind 3 hours and get robbed.
I have played for 5+ years. I don’t think my attitude is killing the game. If fools want to stack for 6 hrs, that’s their fault.🤡
And then i'll dial both players with your attitude and the stacker attitude, as i have come purely for blood
@@MrHAPPYHAWAIIAN nobody care how long you've played and read carefully, I stated your attitude and remarks are the why the game is dying. People with that mindset drive players away from games not towards them. Then as time passes the game becomes less popular until servers are shut down. Rub those 2 braincells together and think fella. If all a player does is log on, lose their loot, then log off how long until the game is just uninstalled? Smh 🤡
Players like you are what is killing the game.
Game is PEGI 12 or equivalent worldwide. Safer Seas is for the kids.
Kurwaaa
They give yall an inch and you take a mile, the gamemode isn't intended for players to stay on. It's meant for new players to learn, not to be lucrative.
This is auch a stupid take
Honestly they should just make custom servers public, but 0 progression. Replace that with safer seas and you have peak
You guys forced rare into making safer seas, this is what happens when you force someone's hand.
Safer sea is for new player after 25 level is a useless mode
W rare
You should only be able to play safer seas until you get to level 10 in one company
