1 objection. i have never won against merchant alliance cosmetics. i don't know what it is. they have the speed of their snakes, the health of their pigs, and if you hurt their chickens so help you god you better scuttle before they start loading the cursed cannonballs
here’s a lesson, some merchants are simple cowards. but some are ruthless, and God help us, if someone tries to take our cargo we will stop at nothing to protect it
Full Party Boat set strikes fear even into the best of the best, not for the fight, but because you KNOW you are about to be blasted with the most obnoxious music on the seas
My biggest fear is silverblade alongside with DA sails. I met them once and that was horror. The second tho might be unpainted sloop because you're never sure how strong the crew can be. For the third mercenary/wandering reaper maybe. They're anomalies.
Can confirm for the Dark Insider ships. My crew have only defeated 2 of the maybe 10 we've come across in the last year and a half. You don't usually survive :P
I once found a very small local streamer in the seas sporting this exact set, they were a decent bunch, gave us a good fight but ultimately ended up losing, great sports tho, we found hm again a couple more times and the second fight lasted even less time lol
always avoid Party Boat Sloops they will want to ally you and then will hop on your ship and take all your planks and cannonballs then immediately sink you since you can't fight back
I use the azure crab set for two reasons: I was a crab player my entire time playing sea of thieves, and it’s my favourite looking version of the set, and apart from the sails it looks eerily similar to the standard ocean crawler set, which can and has definitely served to lull opposing crews into a false sense of security when out for my blood

I'm 750 hours so a solid mid-level player. I have most of the sets now but I run the Azure when I do Sunken kingdom stuff otherwise I use rare to get cosmetics. Azure rocks though. Crab people unit!
Whenever I watch these kinds of videos I always see if they include one of the most unpredictable ships of all: mixed cosmetics. If they’re mixing cosmetics it’s very likely they’re not choosing what makes them look scariest, but rather just what they enjoy, which means there’s no telling what their skill-level is
In the short time I have been playing now, I learned to hate the ships (usually brigantines) with the dark adventurer sails. 9.5 out of 10 times they ram you full speed and then proceed to double-gun spawncamp you WITHOUT having at least the deceny of sinking you.
The reason they're ramming and going to boarding to defeat you is because they're not good at naval. The way you remedy this is make sure you have someone on watch on your ship and you start shooting them and move before they can ram you. If they're driving into your broadside really easy to get them on the defensive keep the pressure on them and they'll sink before they can do anything to you
@@magicpyroninja The whole ram & camp thing is a legitimate tactic as far as I am concerned, IF used to sink the opponent and not just to kill them over and over for the lolz. Another Problem is I rarely get more crewmates than for a sloop so even if we get em into our broadside, we cant do enough damage before they close the distance. I do realize my saltiness here but I just cant help it, it is just really unsatisfactory to fall victim to these kind of tactics almost all the time.
How dare you forget about the Obsidian Ship! I feel that anyone who has the whole ship set even the capstan are people who has the dedication to the game and will most likely be dedicated to sink you, especially if they have the entire Blackdog set which is no easy feat to collect and will certainly give you a challenge
It's a cool set, and rare, but it doesn't mean anything other than for the most part you watched a live stream at the right time. I have most of it myself.
that is THE MOST ever abused shipset in terms of twitch drops and usually considered "the best" by newbies so they eager to get it. Thats why it doesnt say anything usually, can be totally noobs on obsidian. But if you see triumphant sea dog figurehead - run for your life, cause in 10 out of 10 cases there will be a really good players.
I prefer to run around with the Party Boat set because of how silly it is. With how easy it is to get some of the pieces, I can honestly say that I haven't seen any other ship using any parts of it.
I would add that even those nooby ships aren’t a 100% sink. Some good players will use those cosmetics to try to put others into a false sense of security, or just because they look cool. I’d say it’s a low change but even 1% is still a chance. I’d also put the Rare Crew sails at the 50/50. While incredibly rare (pun intended) they aren’t always super sweaty. Some can just be chilling and others will want you ship at the bottom of the ocean. A full Sapphire Blade ship set will definitely be dangerous whenever that comes to fruition. Fantastic video as always! I’m super excited for Captaincy and can’t wait to see everyone’s ship combos!
I love my emporium set, and I’m pretty decent with PVP haha. I figured if I’m spending hundreds of hours playing, I might as well do it on a ship I love

Same, I just love the set and especially now that I'm playing the captaincy update seeing the Wild Rose set as an option makes me want to use the set more than i already used to. On top of all of this but I'd say seeing someone with the Wild Rose set is quite rare. Side note: I used this set when the black market still existed and never dropped it.

I'll admit I'm not good at solo PVP, but on a brig or galleon, I'm always on the guns hitting almost every shot. I just don't like fighting people solo, and will usually portal hop, or invite a couple friends to get revenge, lol.
User of the ghost captains sails here- I have only seen three other people in game with them. Not only do we know how to hit our marks, we are godly multitaskers and can get out of the stickiest situations. I have skills like no other when it comes to saving sinking sloops. We also have time. There’s never a rush.

8:30 This is unfortunately incorrect. While Rare did say that anyone who got arena level 50 before they announced its closure would be the ONLY people eligible to receive The GoodBoy shipset, when the time came to release the cosmetics, they messed up and almost no one ended up actually having it in their shipwright. Rare made an announcement about this in their discord and said that they were going to fix it (they didn't) For whatever reason they couldn't figure out how to give away The GoodBoy ship sets to the correct people, so they instead made it where if you hit LEVEL 50 in arena (even if you got level 50 1 day before arena closed) then you would get the set. As long as it says SEADOGS 50 in your achievement tab in game, you will have The GoodBoy shipset. Rare told everyone that ONLY people who were Arena Level 50 before January 20th would be able to receive The GoodBoy shipset. Then they messed up and they went back on their word and gave ANYONE who was level 50 in arena, REGARDLESS of when they got level 50, The GoodBoy shipset. Truly unfortunate. I know this because me, my buddies, and plenty of other people getting their alt lsd/tsd before arena closed, most of us only got Level 50 arena on our alts a couple weeks before they removed arena for good (well after the January 20th date that Rare established) And we all got The GoodBoy on our alts even though we didn't get level 50 before January 20th.

I never touched Arena once when it was up. I only got to rank 5 with it because of pity rep Rare gave all factions when there was a bug with players leveling up. Honestly kinda funny but hey, I got some neat ship sets from it in the end.
I always get worried when I see ships made of multiple sets,frankenships if you will,cause 9 times outta ten they seem to be old school legends that only care about looking good and kicking ass while doing it.
As someone who's been playing for a VERY VERY long time Sea of champion and notorious arena still strikes fear into me more then a average person who always plays reaper
I dont fear any ships really. I look at the player, then I know if its a fight I wanna take. Because sometimes you find people with really rare or hard to get sails and they just suck at pvp.
Interesting, me and my buddy usually sail with the Magpie's Fortune sails, but I'd say we're relatively good. Most of the crews that attack us seem to be underestimating us, that would explain why. Oh, but we ALWAYS rock the pride flag even tho we're mostly passive (we've actually been attacked several times because of it, lol)
i think one time my crew and i were going on a rampage through our server and we ran into a person with the NAL sails and we fought for so long and i think we ran through 5 stacks of each cannon balls and planks but in the end we had to book it. my crew was running a bring and the NAL was a sloop it was one hell of a fight and unfortunately we technically lost we said our ggs and booked it
I was wondering whether year one Pirate Legend sails were going to make the list. Pirate Legend used to mean something at first but after month 10 when forts were introduced, the grind became so much easier. I have had two random people recognize my sails just this year for what they were (I didn’t think anyone would know or even care at this point but it felt good to get the recognition).
Yeah, I never use mine anymore just because I felt like what's the point Lol. The only thing I ever use from that set is the figurehead but I much prefer the Athena 10 figurehead.
Generally sail The Killer Whale or DA; normally we are chasing commendations but aren't afraid of a fight. When we feel "done" with our objective we usually go on a sinking spree until we are ready to quit and then donate resources/loot
ignoring that this is a 15 minute old comment and a 31 minute old reply(at least thats what it says for me) we are gonna have ship loadouts, so we dont have to suffer every time we set sail

I mean, if you are going after new players when you are experienced, it only makes sense that you will have an easy time. But there is nothing to stop an experienced player from using the very first cosmetics they got in the game, and still smoking your ass the moment you let your guard down
Great video. At 3:28 you mention the sails require having played arena to receive. I happen to have all but the good boy set yet I never played a day of arena (started to come around to the idea right before it shut down). I think I was in the mid 30's of Sea Dog simply by purchasing the levels through Duke/Larinna. I feel people such as myself didn't deserve the arena sets, yet here we are. Hence why I don't use them.
My crew and I use different sets and mixes of sets depending on what we want to look like, or what we are doing. If we're grinding a specific faction, we'll often equip the full set for said faction. Otherwise, we'll usually run a mixture of whatever to create a look we like. Some parts will showcase our dedication and time spent on the game, others will be just cause they look cool. This includes Emporium stuff. We don't think much of it, other than our ship looking good to us. If we can be proud to sail on our fine vessel, to the sea of the damned with what anyone else thinks! :P So look out for Captain Krakenbagger and any of his fine vessels: "The Devil's Warden", "Reaper's Revenge" or "Gilded Fateweaver"!
As someone who plays since march of 2018, i can confirm. A skinless sloop is the most frightening thing you can encounter within the sea of thieves. Same goes for the Pre year 2 Pirate legends. Just for reference. Pirate legend took me about 2 years to get before emissaries where a thing. Now this is possible within a week if you stick to the grind.
That’s why if you’re quick with your fingers - quickly check recent player list and check how many trophies they’ve unlocked Overall how I depict if I should play serious or casual

@@cagliari5984 The point kinda speaks for itself. You could skip half the video and get a more accurate roundup for what the video is trying to convey. The first half is generally attainable with little effort and speaks little towards a players competency and their age on the seas. Usually the two factors that go hand in hand.
I run a captained sloop named " The Mad Minnow " I always use the killer whale set because it's thematic. Also I want to show off that I fully finished the hunters call ( my buddies and I grinded when it first came out and got it in about a week ) I don't see many people running the killer whale set so it's hard to figure out how sweaty they are
You forgot to mention the most dangerous of all. If you see it you should server hop right away. This is of course the hunter's call set. Only true legends will grind this faction out.
i've got full killer whale, but i feel like it doesn't set the same fear as year 1 legend or wandering reaper. don't think most will realize the whale is serious business.
Hunters call is the lowest leveling track of all the factions and it requires no PvP to obtain. Most people don't have it because they don't care to fish. Having it does not by itself cause me concern. I do have it, but prefer the similar but different Silent Barnacle.
@@pigxstix I was mostly making a joke. But despite being the lowest cap of levelling I would argue it takes the longest since fishing takes a lot of time and the only real good way to level it up casually is mermaid gems. I wish it had some sort of voyage like meg or kraken hunting

Most the assessment of this video is what kind of player, and specially what kind of PvP behavior to expect from these different sails and to me the Hunter's Call is at the bottom.
I took on my own old alliance, 3 of the last 5 ships displayed in the video in fact. They might have had more of them, but it was my own old alliance team. I left my girlfriend, and stopped getting invited. Several of their team kept me on friends. But given they kept me on, the hunt was on. I went in and started watching for confirmation, their standard is all reaper. they averaged 5 ships a server. I was determined to fill the final slot. So I waited for their server hopping to start, and went in solo. I knew things they did not. I knew I was on the right server, I saw it. I saw them meet up. I watched, I tucked, and glory happened. nobody noticed me. I was under the athena kegs in crows nest. So they always did fort of the damned. I waited, and I waited for them to finish all 5 g5 Athena's. to get their stacks started, waited for the propper moment. knowing their mob had something like 100 chests of legends between all the crews. So I kept tucked and waited. And when they finished the last skull, I blew them all up with an athena, we all went to grave together and I watched them all say "gg" as they rage quit as they saw my name. I did not get everything, there was so much. Too much to save. but I got a grand total of 112 chests of legends, and all of them to rage out at my ability to peave them out. They had no clue I was playing. And to tuck a full day on their ship, for 7 hours, and watch her with her new boyfriend, was amazing. He is so useless. They sent him to protect the ship the ship and I got him to believe the ship was haunted. I made sure only he was looking when I vanished. for the others. really messed with him. For like 7 hours
I have only seen Brave Vanguard sails once and to be honest they really were'nt that good, but I really hope I don't ever run into Sea of champions sails

@@AShinyRay I don't know. Every founder sails/BV I've played against has been meh. Only one that's put up a fight is Blurbs, and we've sunk him easily each time. Granted he was solo and there were two of us.
The people that try the absolute hardest to kill you and will not muck about at all will be using the DA sails and absolutely nothing else. They hop for FoF's, slap on the sails and book it immediately to your position.

Damn you're totally right about Wild Rose, it was the first set I got for that exact reason, and the fact that it was a unique currency actually tricked me into thinking I jumped tiers straight to a good one. But it just looks really nice and is cheap. Now though I have almost 150 hours and still am rocking wild rose on my sloop (because it costs money to pin the new cosmetics on) and I wouldn't say I'm an easy sink unless I'm solo slooping ;)
I wear the reaper pajamas, there’s just something I love about them. it doesn’t really give off the kinda of threatening and evil energy it tries too but to me it feels like it has a kind of lighthearted and fun vibe. Plus I always like to take screenshots of my wearing it while sitting in cool places of doing cool poses in cool spots.
Interesting take for sure, and definitely agree with some of the points made, but like anything in SoT take it with a grain of salt. I've got Brave Vanguard Sails, but will also rock Pirate Emporium sets just cause I like the look lol. They are cosmetics after all. The lower tier stuff it's hard to say "seeing them means you've already won" some people just like the look. I definitely agree with some of those higher tier options. The stuff that is that hard to grind out is definitely going to be equipped by players who have spent time on the seas.
If I see a not too often bought pirate emporium ship, it's either a tough as nails crew who might even be bit rp heavy or a super casual crew who will either want to alliance or defend themselves depending on what you do.

I’ve encountered sea of champions one time. I was a reaper 5 sloop and they were a brig coming right for us. It was a long battle with lots of 3rd parties but in the end we were the last ship floating. They definitely were extremely talented players
Everyday I beat myself up because I completed the reaper runs and have the titles, but didn’t buy the sails and hulls because I didn’t like non-complete sets, not realizing how rare and popular they were gonna become. At least I have the hungry figurehead, and complete forsaken ashes and bone crusher stuff
GSD and TSD shipsets in our experience were sweat-lords who want to board you at all costs and never leave you alone. Sure they are a mean bunch up close but they are so obssessed with boarding their naval sucks ass and with a few smart plays we can sink them before they have the chance, better stock up on supplies tho, because they are NOT leaving you alone after yopu sink them once. That said, during the first community day I remember me and my crew leveling up a Reaper 5 galleon and utterly dominating the server... until a Wandering Reaper showed up. I immediately called trouble and we did our best, we got them in a surprise attack that would have probably made us sink them, but we made some mistakes during the fight (and that was a fight one could NOT afford to make mistakes) and ended up sinking. Too bad they left the server right after, best fight we had and we would love to challenge them again.

There is one set from the Emporium that you should be wary of though, the Barrel Bombardier set. This set is generally used by crews that care nothing for loot and simply stockpile powder kegs simply for the kamikaze approach. If you see one of these ships, most likely it's going to be a Sloop as it's usually fast enough in most situations to close the gap between them and you very quickly, usually from the front or rear, where your cannons can't hit them, which is exactly what they want, as their ship is no more than a giant powder keg that they are willing to sacrifice just to sink you. If it gets close enough and explodes, your ship will incur way too much damage for you to deal with, especially if any of your crew got sent to the Ferry of the Damned by the explosion. The best way to combat the Barrel Bombardier is to not engage them, as it does not matter how much loot is on their ship as they'd prefer to see it sink to the bottom of the ocean than see that "Loot Donated" message. If you leave them far enough alone, you will most likely be safe, though it's not guaranteed. If you are being chased by one of these ships, try to get a broadside angle on them as best as you can, as one good cannon shot will generally send them up in a big boom. A well placed sniper shot might work as well, but this is also not a guaranteed strategy since the arc on the shot can be difficult to place at longer range, and that's even if they have any barrels on deck for you to shoot, more often than not, the powder kegs are below deck to avoid this. One last thing, if they have a rowboat, check to see which kind it is. It will almost never be a standard boat. If it's a Harpoon rowboat, then one crew member will be on it, ready to drop and pick up all your loot once you sink after the explosion. If it's a Cannon rowboat, watch out, as this rowboat is going to be used as the detonator for that powder keg that's sailing right up to you. They will also most likely be using Firebombs over standard shot, as once the initial explosion has you busy with repairs, they will bombard you with fire, creating even more problems for your ship to deal with. Occasionally they will use one of the Arcane shot (the purple ones), Ballast Balls specifically if you're on a Galleon to cause all those mid-deck holes caused by the explosion to also flood the ship. I use a mix of rouge sea dog and dawn hunter for my ship set. I'd love a purple wolf ship set. the first set I ever used was imperial sovereign. if I'm having fun and memeing I slap on random or sunken kingdom.

TBH it wasn't until this year that my crew and I realized that selling barnacled chests to the Reapers didn't count towards this commendation...that realization stung a bit 🤣
I love the Eternal Freedom (Black Pearl) set, and I will admit that stereotype applies to me. Although I’m not the best at pvp, I can claim that I’ve never sunk to an ai enemy before :)
You forgot to mention one sail. The golden hour sails. If sweats dont rock the NAL or SOC sails, the golden hour sails is their next pick. Every encounter with these sails has always been a sweat infested battle.
been playing a few years now but i love the low end cosmetics like ashen dragon and gold hoarder base stuff and wild rose. always catches my enemies off guard that have seen these guides when they think I'm a no skill Andy and i whip out an anchor turn on them and proceed to down their masts, set them on fire and fill them with more holes than a block of swiss cheese all while solo. it's beautiful hearing their confused screams over prox' chat as their ship sinks.
Do take these with a pinch of salt, I regularly use the golden legendary set along with some if the other hard to get sets from the past but if a player ever gets on my ship in combat I'm as good as sunk
I played on gamepass from 2018 to 19 and bought the game in 2020 and although I usually do fishing (max hunters call grind never ends) i do love some PvP

We are pirate legend for a long time and we didn't changed the skin until we sunk enough ship and steal the chest of fortune from them to get the Fate of fortune. We usually never do pve bc we hate it, its boring, 90% our money is from stealing 😂
I suck at PvP but grind PvE and the Silent Barnacle is my go-to set. I also like to pair the Silverblade hull with the Dark Adventurer sails (night and day difference in being able to see on that curved deck) and the original crew marshmallows figurehead but I've noticed that when have this set on it attracts PvP attention and I get attacked a lot. I suppose it's like wearing a Rolex in a bad neighborhood.
I will note that I bought both the eternal freedom and the golden skelly collectors figureheads due to the extensions they get and how that makes them a bit more historically accurate as ships and they look badass.
I agree. I like to consider myself good at the game but I run the ashen dragon set just because red is my favorite color and I've always been a sucker for fire related cosmetics

I would say that the killer whale ship set is actually pretty scary, cause it’s a 50/50 if they just run away or turn you into mince meat. These players have gone through the trouble of maxing out hunters call, which means they are actually insane, they either run in fear or have killed so many people who have tried to take their fish, and god help you if you piss them off while they were fishing at a shipwreck in a storm. Believe me you do not know true rage until you deprive a fisherman of “that one fish”.
I got Killer Whale set relatively early in my game, because I'm insane in that I actually enjoyed the grind, so I'm mostly harmless. However, on the Hunter's Call Discord server, I met some of the most amazing players, who do fit your description. Like, I was on a gally with an arena veteran (we wanted a few more fish, others from the crew signed out already at that point), and some brig started shooting at us. Using the in-game text commands, the absolute madlad told me to just bail & fix, and on his own, with a gally, sunk the hell out of that brig, and then calmly returned to fishing as if nothing had happened. My idol.

Full Party Boat set strikes fear even into the best of the best, not for the fight, but because you KNOW you are about to be blasted with the most obnoxious music on the seas

My biggest fear is silverblade alongside with DA sails. I met them once and that was horror. The second tho might be unpainted sloop because you're never sure how strong the crew can be. For the third mercenary/wandering reaper maybe. They're anomalies.

Can confirm for the Dark Insider ships. My crew have only defeated 2 of the maybe 10 we've come across in the last year and a half. You don't usually survive :P
I once found a very small local streamer in the seas sporting this exact set, they were a decent bunch, gave us a good fight but ultimately ended up losing, great sports tho, we found hm again a couple more times and the second fight lasted even less time lol
always avoid Party Boat Sloops they will want to ally you and then will hop on your ship and take all your planks and cannonballs then immediately sink you since you can't fight back

I use the azure crab set for two reasons: I was a crab player my entire time playing sea of thieves, and it’s my favourite looking version of the set, and apart from the sails it looks eerily similar to the standard ocean crawler set, which can and has definitely served to lull opposing crews into a false sense of security when out for my blood

I'm 750 hours so a solid mid-level player. I have most of the sets now but I run the Azure when I do Sunken kingdom stuff otherwise I use rare to get cosmetics. Azure rocks though. Crab people unit!

Whenever I watch these kinds of videos I always see if they include one of the most unpredictable ships of all: mixed cosmetics. If they’re mixing cosmetics it’s very likely they’re not choosing what makes them look scariest, but rather just what they enjoy, which means there’s no telling what their skill-level is
I use cosmetic to get an good looking ship not so that some random humans can say if im bad or good
In the short time I have been playing now, I learned to hate the ships (usually brigantines) with the dark adventurer sails. 9.5 out of 10 times they ram you full speed and then proceed to double-gun spawncamp you WITHOUT having at least the deceny of sinking you.
Then control your own fate, scuttle your ship and end their fun. 🤡

The reason they're ramming and going to boarding to defeat you is because they're not good at naval.
The way you remedy this is make sure you have someone on watch on your ship and you start shooting them and move before they can ram you.
If they're driving into your broadside really easy to get them on the defensive keep the pressure on them and they'll sink before they can do anything to you
@@magicpyroninja The whole ram & camp thing is a legitimate tactic as far as I am concerned, IF used to sink the opponent and not just to kill them over and over for the lolz. Another Problem is I rarely get more crewmates than for a sloop so even if we get em into our broadside, we cant do enough damage before they close the distance. I do realize my saltiness here but I just cant help it, it is just really unsatisfactory to fall victim to these kind of tactics almost all the time.

I feel that anyone who has the whole ship set even the capstan are people who has the dedication to the game and will most likely be dedicated to sink you, especially if they have the entire Blackdog set which is no easy feat to collect and will certainly give you a challenge
In my experience they usually suck. Or somewhat good but they're never much of a sweat.
It's a cool set, and rare, but it doesn't mean anything other than for the most part you watched a live stream at the right time. I have most of it myself.

that is THE MOST ever abused shipset in terms of twitch drops and usually considered "the best" by newbies so they eager to get it. Thats why it doesnt say anything usually, can be totally noobs on obsidian. But if you see triumphant sea dog figurehead - run for your life, cause in 10 out of 10 cases there will be a really good players.
I prefer to run around with the Party Boat set because of how silly it is. With how easy it is to get some of the pieces, I can honestly say that I haven't seen any other ship using any parts of it.
Me and my friends use it on our brigantine sometimes. Not very often, but sometimes :)
I would add that even those nooby ships aren’t a 100% sink. Some good players will use those cosmetics to try to put others into a false sense of security, or just because they look cool. I’d say it’s a low change but even 1% is still a chance.
I’d also put the Rare Crew sails at the 50/50. While incredibly rare (pun intended) they aren’t always super sweaty. Some can just be chilling and others will want you ship at the bottom of the ocean. A full Sapphire Blade ship set will definitely be dangerous whenever that comes to fruition.

Same, I just love the set and especially now that I'm playing the captaincy update seeing the Wild Rose set as an option makes me want to use the set more than i already used to. On top of all of this but I'd say seeing someone with the Wild Rose set is quite rare. Side note: I used this set when the black market still existed and never dropped it.

I'll admit I'm not good at solo PVP, but on a brig or galleon, I'm always on the guns hitting almost every shot. I just don't like fighting people solo, and will usually portal hop, or invite a couple friends to get revenge, lol.
User of the ghost captains sails here- I have only seen three other people in game with them. Not only do we know how to hit our marks, we are godly multitaskers and can get out of the stickiest situations. I have skills like no other when it comes to saving sinking sloops. We also have time. There’s never a rush.
You don't know what fear is if you haven't met a brig of merchants who try to deliver their chickens to the outpost... you fire one cannon and all hell breaks loose.
8:30 This is unfortunately incorrect. While Rare did say that anyone who got arena level 50 before they announced its closure would be the ONLY people eligible to receive The GoodBoy shipset, when the time came to release the cosmetics, they messed up and almost no one ended up actually having it in their shipwright. Rare made an announcement about this in their discord and said that they were going to fix it (they didn't) For whatever reason they couldn't figure out how to give away The GoodBoy ship sets to the correct people, so they instead made it where if you hit LEVEL 50 in arena (even if you got level 50 1 day before arena closed) then you would get the set. As long as it says SEADOGS 50 in your achievement tab in game, you will have The GoodBoy shipset.
Rare told everyone that ONLY people who were Arena Level 50 before January 20th would be able to receive The GoodBoy shipset. Then they messed up and they went back on their word and gave ANYONE who was level 50 in arena, REGARDLESS of when they got level 50, The GoodBoy shipset. Truly unfortunate.
I know this because me, my buddies, and plenty of other people getting their alt lsd/tsd before arena closed, most of us only got Level 50 arena on our alts a couple weeks before they removed arena for good (well after the January 20th date that Rare established) And we all got The GoodBoy on our alts even though we didn't get level 50 before January 20th.
I got it and I was level 50 before. My friend didn't, and he got level 50 after.
Definitely not everyone got it.

I never touched Arena once when it was up. I only got to rank 5 with it because of pity rep Rare gave all factions when there was a bug with players leveling up. Honestly kinda funny but hey, I got some neat ship sets from it in the end.
I always get worried when I see ships made of multiple sets,frankenships if you will,cause 9 times outta ten they seem to be old school legends that only care about looking good and kicking ass while doing it.

Interesting, me and my buddy usually sail with the Magpie's Fortune sails, but I'd say we're relatively good. Most of the crews that attack us seem to be underestimating us, that would explain why.

i think one time my crew and i were going on a rampage through our server and we ran into a person with the NAL sails and we fought for so long and i think we ran through 5 stacks of each cannon balls and planks but in the end we had to book it. my crew was running a bring and the NAL was a sloop it was one hell of a fight and unfortunately we technically lost

I tend to use ocean crawler stuff, and I’m pretty likely to just try to avoid other players, especially if I’m sailing alone.
I have a strange case on my ship where I dont follow one theme, and just put cosmetics on that I want to fit my color preferences.

I was wondering whether year one Pirate Legend sails were going to make the list. Pirate Legend used to mean something at first but after month 10 when forts were introduced, the grind became so much easier. I have had two random people recognize my sails just this year for what they were (I didn’t think anyone would know or even care at this point but it felt good to get the recognition).
Yeah, I never use mine anymore just because I felt like what's the point Lol. The only thing I ever use from that set is the figurehead but I much prefer the Athena 10 figurehead.
Generally sail The Killer Whale or DA; normally we are chasing commendations but aren't afraid of a fight. When we feel "done" with our objective we usually go on a sinking spree until we are ready to quit and then donate resources/loot
I use default because I just can't be assed anymore to go put on each cosmetic every time I set sail and I avoid everyone like the plague anyways
same and i will actually give away loot 90% of the time if the person doesnt shoot at me first

Great video. At 3:28 you mention the sails require having played arena to receive. I happen to have all but the good boy set yet I never played a day of arena (started to come around to the idea right before it shut down). I think I was in the mid 30's of Sea Dog simply by purchasing the levels through Duke/Larinna. I feel people such as myself didn't deserve the arena sets, yet here we are. Hence why I don't use them.

My crew and I use different sets and mixes of sets depending on what we want to look like, or what we are doing.
If we're grinding a specific faction, we'll often equip the full set for said faction. Otherwise, we'll usually run a mixture of whatever to create a look we like. Some parts will showcase our dedication and time spent on the game, others will be just cause they look cool. This includes Emporium stuff. We don't think much of it, other than our ship looking good to us. If we can be proud to sail on our fine vessel, to the sea of the damned with what anyone else thinks! :P
So look out for Captain Krakenbagger and any of his fine vessels: "The Devil's Warden", "Reaper's Revenge" or "Gilded Fateweaver"!

As someone who plays since march of 2018, i can confirm. A skinless sloop is the most frightening thing you can encounter within the sea of thieves. Same goes for the Pre year 2 Pirate legends.
Just for reference. Pirate legend took me about 2 years to get before emissaries where a thing. Now this is possible within a week if you stick to the grind.
That’s why if you’re quick with your fingers - quickly check recent player list and check how many trophies they’ve unlocked

You could skip half the video and get a more accurate roundup for what the video is trying to convey. The first half is generally attainable with little effort and speaks little towards a players competency and their age on the seas. Usually the two factors that go hand in hand.

I run a captained sloop named " The Mad Minnow " I always use the killer whale set because it's thematic. Also I want to show off that I fully finished the hunters call ( my buddies and I grinded when it first came out and got it in about a week ) I don't see many people running the killer whale set so it's hard to figure out how sweaty they are

You forgot to mention the most dangerous of all. If you see it you should server hop right away. This is of course the hunter's call set. Only true legends will grind this faction out.
i've got full killer whale, but i feel like it doesn't set the same fear as year 1 legend or wandering reaper. don't think most will realize the whale is serious business.
Hunters call is the lowest leveling track of all the factions and it requires no PvP to obtain. Most people don't have it because they don't care to fish. Having it does not by itself cause me concern. I do have it, but prefer the similar but different Silent Barnacle.
@@pigxstix I was mostly making a joke. But despite being the lowest cap of levelling I would argue it takes the longest since fishing takes a lot of time and the only real good way to level it up casually is mermaid gems. I wish it had some sort of voyage like meg or kraken hunting

Most the assessment of this video is what kind of player, and specially what kind of PvP behavior to expect from these different sails and to me the Hunter's Call is at the bottom.

Bone crusher ship set is the best
I took on my own old alliance, 3 of the last 5 ships displayed in the video in fact. They might have had more of them, but it was my own old alliance team. I left my girlfriend, and stopped getting invited. Several of their team kept me on friends. But given they kept me on, the hunt was on. I went in and started watching for confirmation, their standard is all reaper. they averaged 5 ships a server. I was determined to fill the final slot. So I waited for their server hopping to start, and went in solo. I knew things they did not. I knew I was on the right server, I saw it. I saw them meet up. I watched, I tucked, and glory happened. nobody noticed me. I was under the athena kegs in crows nest. So they always did fort of the damned. I waited, and I waited for them to finish all 5 g5 Athena's. to get their stacks started, waited for the propper moment. knowing their mob had something like 100 chests of legends between all the crews. So I kept tucked and waited. And when they finished the last skull, I blew them all up with an athena, we all went to grave together and I watched them all say "gg" as they rage quit as they saw my name. I did not get everything, there was so much. Too much to save. but I got a grand total of 112 chests of legends, and all of them to rage out at my ability to peave them out. They had no clue I was playing. And to tuck a full day on their ship, for 7 hours, and watch her with her new boyfriend, was amazing. He is so useless. They sent him to protect the ship the ship and I got him to believe the ship was haunted. I made sure only he was looking when I vanished. for the others. really messed with him. For like 7 hours

@@AShinyRay I don't know. Every founder sails/BV I've played against has been meh. Only one that's put up a fight is Blurbs, and we've sunk him easily each time. Granted he was solo and there were two of us.
The people that try the absolute hardest to kill you and will not muck about at all will be using the DA sails and absolutely nothing else. They hop for FoF's, slap on the sails and book it immediately to your position.

Damn you're totally right about Wild Rose, it was the first set I got for that exact reason, and the fact that it was a unique currency actually tricked me into thinking I jumped tiers straight to a good one. But it just looks really nice and is cheap. Now though I have almost 150 hours and still am rocking wild rose on my sloop (because it costs money to pin the new cosmetics on) and I wouldn't say I'm an easy sink unless I'm solo slooping ;)
I wear the reaper pajamas, there’s just something I love about them. it doesn’t really give off the kinda of threatening and evil energy it tries too but to me it feels like it has a kind of lighthearted and fun vibe. Plus I always like to take screenshots of my wearing it while sitting in cool places of doing cool poses in cool spots.

I've got Brave Vanguard Sails, but will also rock Pirate Emporium sets just cause I like the look lol. They are cosmetics after all.
The lower tier stuff it's hard to say "seeing them means you've already won" some people just like the look.
I definitely agree with some of those higher tier options. The stuff that is that hard to grind out is definitely going to be equipped by players who have spent time on the seas.

If I see a not too often bought pirate emporium ship, it's either a tough as nails crew who might even be bit rp heavy or a super casual crew who will either want to alliance or defend themselves depending on what you do.

I’ve encountered sea of champions one time. I was a reaper 5 sloop and they were a brig coming right for us. It was a long battle with lots of 3rd parties but in the end we were the last ship floating. They definitely were extremely talented players
every black pearl I've ever fought has been crazy, I'm terrified of them, idk what it is about them
Everyday I beat myself up because I completed the reaper runs and have the titles, but didn’t buy the sails and hulls because I didn’t like non-complete sets, not realizing how rare and popular they were gonna become. At least I have the hungry figurehead, and complete forsaken ashes and bone crusher stuff
GSD and TSD shipsets in our experience were sweat-lords who want to board you at all costs and never leave you alone. Sure they are a mean bunch up close but they are so obssessed with boarding their naval sucks ass and with a few smart plays we can sink them before they have the chance, better stock up on supplies tho, because they are NOT leaving you alone after yopu sink them once.
That said, during the first community day I remember me and my crew leveling up a Reaper 5 galleon and utterly dominating the server... until a Wandering Reaper showed up. I immediately called trouble and we did our best, we got them in a surprise attack that would have probably made us sink them, but we made some mistakes during the fight (and that was a fight one could NOT afford to make mistakes) and ended up sinking. Too bad they left the server right after, best fight we had and we would love to challenge them again.

There is one set from the Emporium that you should be wary of though, the Barrel Bombardier set. This set is generally used by crews that care nothing for loot and simply stockpile powder kegs simply for the kamikaze approach. If you see one of these ships, most likely it's going to be a Sloop as it's usually fast enough in most situations to close the gap between them and you very quickly, usually from the front or rear, where your cannons can't hit them, which is exactly what they want, as their ship is no more than a giant powder keg that they are willing to sacrifice just to sink you. If it gets close enough and explodes, your ship will incur way too much damage for you to deal with, especially if any of your crew got sent to the Ferry of the Damned by the explosion.
The best way to combat the Barrel Bombardier is to not engage them, as it does not matter how much loot is on their ship as they'd prefer to see it sink to the bottom of the ocean than see that "Loot Donated" message. If you leave them far enough alone, you will most likely be safe, though it's not guaranteed. If you are being chased by one of these ships, try to get a broadside angle on them as best as you can, as one good cannon shot will generally send them up in a big boom. A well placed sniper shot might work as well, but this is also not a guaranteed strategy since the arc on the shot can be difficult to place at longer range, and that's even if they have any barrels on deck for you to shoot, more often than not, the powder kegs are below deck to avoid this.
One last thing, if they have a rowboat, check to see which kind it is. It will almost never be a standard boat. If it's a Harpoon rowboat, then one crew member will be on it, ready to drop and pick up all your loot once you sink after the explosion. If it's a Cannon rowboat, watch out, as this rowboat is going to be used as the detonator for that powder keg that's sailing right up to you. They will also most likely be using Firebombs over standard shot, as once the initial explosion has you busy with repairs, they will bombard you with fire, creating even more problems for your ship to deal with. Occasionally they will use one of the Arcane shot (the purple ones), Ballast Balls specifically if you're on a Galleon to cause all those mid-deck holes caused by the explosion to also flood the ship.

@@Orlington17 Indeed. It's a wonderful fireworks show to see them go boom, but be careful not to be too close. Unfortunately you wont get much loot from them though since they most likely don't have any due to the kamikaze approach.
I use a mix of rouge sea dog and dawn hunter for my ship set. I'd love a purple wolf ship set. the first set I ever used was imperial sovereign. if I'm having fun and memeing I slap on random or sunken kingdom.

TBH it wasn't until this year that my crew and I realized that selling barnacled chests to the Reapers didn't count towards this commendation...that realization stung a bit 🤣

You forgot to mention one sail. The golden hour sails. If sweats dont rock the NAL or SOC sails, the golden hour sails is their next pick.
Every encounter with these sails has always been a sweat infested battle.
been playing a few years now but i love the low end cosmetics like ashen dragon and gold hoarder base stuff and wild rose. always catches my enemies off guard that have seen these guides when they think I'm a no skill Andy and i whip out an anchor turn on them and proceed to down their masts, set them on fire and fill them with more holes than a block of swiss cheese all while solo. it's beautiful hearing their confused screams over prox' chat as their ship sinks.

Do take these with a pinch of salt, I regularly use the golden legendary set along with some if the other hard to get sets from the past but if a player ever gets on my ship in combat I'm as good as sunk
I played on gamepass from 2018 to 19 and bought the game in 2020 and although I usually do fishing (max hunters call grind never ends) i do love some PvP
0:39 Me and my homie are exception, we played with the wild rose ship for almost an entire year bc we found it beautiful comper the other skins. We are pirate legend for a long time and we didn't changed the skin until we sunk enough ship and steal the chest of fortune from them to get the Fate of fortune. We usually never do pve bc we hate it, its boring, 90% our money is from stealing 😂
I suck at PvP but grind PvE and the Silent Barnacle is my go-to set. I also like to pair the Silverblade hull with the Dark Adventurer sails (night and day difference in being able to see on that curved deck) and the original crew marshmallows figurehead but I've noticed that when have this set on it attracts PvP attention and I get attacked a lot. I suppose it's like wearing a Rolex in a bad neighborhood.

I will note that I bought both the eternal freedom and the golden skelly collectors figureheads due to the extensions they get and how that makes them a bit more historically accurate as ships and they look badass.
Ashen / forsaken / scorched are all heavily underrated and I see no reason to look down upon them.
Honestly I use the ashen dragon stuff because it takes me ages to get it and I enjoy how it looks. The colours are nice for my eyes.
I agree. I like to consider myself good at the game but I run the ashen dragon set just because red is my favorite color and I've always been a sucker for fire related cosmetics

I would say that the killer whale ship set is actually pretty scary, cause it’s a 50/50 if they just run away or turn you into mince meat. These players have gone through the trouble of maxing out hunters call, which means they are actually insane, they either run in fear or have killed so many people who have tried to take their fish, and god help you if you piss them off while they were fishing at a shipwreck in a storm. Believe me you do not know true rage until you deprive a fisherman of “that one fish”.
I got Killer Whale set relatively early in my game, because I'm insane in that I actually enjoyed the grind, so I'm mostly harmless.
However, on the Hunter's Call Discord server, I met some of the most amazing players, who do fit your description. Like, I was on a gally with an arena veteran (we wanted a few more fish, others from the crew signed out already at that point), and some brig started shooting at us. Using the in-game text commands, the absolute madlad told me to just bail & fix, and on his own, with a gally, sunk the hell out of that brig, and then calmly returned to fishing as if nothing had happened. My idol.
