    Dropped $250 on new front OEM brembo pads to get rid of the squealing and crazy amount of dust, as recommended by the Chevy dealership near me. After spending the $250 plus $100 install the problem till persisted. I confronted the dealership and their only response was that performance brakes leave dust and squeal, so it's just a problem I have to live with. Proceeded to spend $460 on powerstop rotors and brake pads, and I've never been happier. Dust is basically nonexistent, and the rotors looks 100X more aesthetic. The OEM brembo pads have a tad bit more bite to them, but I was personally willing to sacrifice that for the little to no dust and nonexistent squealing/squeaking. 10/10 recommend anyone with a camaro to replace their braking system for a powerstop setup and keep their stock setup for track purposes. You won't regret it.

    I did the z26 brake & rotor upgrade on my '16 Charger R/T & am very impressed with the outcome! The brakes started squealing so I thought it was a problem with OEM parts(Replaced the back pads 3X with different pads with same outcome)! For $400, I've never had a problem with brakes anymore....

    Thank you for the video. I appreciate the install video as well as this follow-up video. I have been watching you for years now. My car is a 2017 2SS in Hyper Blue metallic. I purchased & will be installing the exact same pads from Power Stop as well as the Z26 drilled slotted rotors in all 4 corners. You put out a lot of interesting & helpful videos so please continue doing that. From one gear head to another, specifically a Camaro Gear head: Thank you.

    Got my Z-26's put on! WOW what a difference in the how little brake dust. I have the black wheels and with the OEM pads I had to clean brake dust daily and the metal would oxidize and turn rusty red. Thanks for the great suggestion. I really appreciate your Gen 6 information and dedication to our cars! Jeff

    Thanks for the review. I just installed mine last week on my 2017 50th anniversary 2SS and my wheels were still clean when I washed it yesterday! They don't grown when you let off the brakes either so I say they are quieter than the OEM pads! Always enjoy the tips and upgrades. Next is the rock guards from ZL1 add ons since I already have paint chips at 3k miles from the front tires.

      It’s so crazy to me as I thought in the modern era, brake dust accumulation was a thing of the past. Of all the cars I’ve seen up in my life, the only car I’ve known to have a huge problem with brake dust was my mom’s’94 Nissan Maxima SE with the factory 16 spoke turbine wheels. I’ll never forget those wheels because it took almost an hour to clean them thoroughly. You talking about some wheels that were dam near impossible to keep clean, those rims were a nightmare. I remember watching my dad get down on his knees with a toothbrush trying to make them spotless for my mom one year for Mother’s Day.
      When I bought my Camaro SS 2 months ago, I would’ve never thought I would be cleaning rims all day, every dam day to keep the car looking decent. These shits are a straight up pain in the ass to keep clean and they rival those old Maxima rims in terms of frustration levels. Gotta get me some new pads ASAP if I want to save my dam paint job. Never thought in a million years I would experience this problem in a late model vehicle.

    Just got these for my camaro ss they do in-fact minimize brake dust. But I do notice a difference in braking not the quality of braking. Rather the bite the original brembo pads bite faster so I did have to relearn muscle memory for brake travel. The travel depressing brakes was slightly further than original but not a deal breaker at all good pads. I did have some squealing at 5mph to stop but very slight. I’m sure it will go away after completely doing break-in and it was 35deg outside. So I’m sure that played a part not being warmed up.

      @@dougedoug2105 I know this was posted a year ago and you probably forgot about it, but I figured I would just clarify _why_ the stock brake pads have so much dust. By default, the Camaros come with semi-metallic brake pads. These are great for dual-purpose street/track cars since the added metals allow them to cool down faster without a lot of the drawbacks of fully metallic pads. However, these pads cause a lot of brake dust and eat your rotors (due to metal on metal contact). The PowerStop Z26s and their competitors are ceramic pads. These are great for street driving as they last longer, don't produce much dust, don't eat your rotors, and don't produce noise that we can hear (assuming there are no underlying issues). However for track use, they aren't the best and shouldn't be used if you plan on pushing your car to the limits. For most people, ceramic is the way to go, but to say that the stock pads are "low-tech," "old-fashioned," or simply just bad kind of misses the point of them.

    • @dougedoug2105
      @dougedoug2105 3 роки тому

      @@Clone895 Thanks for the recommendation Brother, I’ll have to try them as I am sick of these stock pads. They’ve literally destroyed my rims. Took a highway trip recently and put about 1000 miles on the car. Didn’t wash my rims before or during my road trip and when I washed the car a few days back the dust was literally so baked on the rims(Blame 100 degree/day TX Heat) that I had to wash them 3 separate times to remove what dirt I could. Had the rims repainted in February because the brake pads and grease had stained the original factory metallic finish and they were stained again within 1 month. I hate to throw away money but I’m a year into ownership and sick of cleaning rims, but I have to paint them again this time in bläck which is probably won’t like because the metallic silver just looks better on my car because it’s got silver rally stripes. Hated to vent hug I’ll definitely give those pads you recommended a try

      @@dougedoug2105 Ya np. Also good brake cleaner goes a LONG way when it comes to getting off brake dust. I find that when I do a simple wash with car shampoo, there is still plenty of dust left on the rims. However using brake cleaner (I use Adam's), I am able to get my wheels stupidly clean. The stuff doesn't smell the best, but it sure does work... I personally just picked up some Z26 pads and StopTech rotors to replace the stock setup, so I'll see how they compare

I'd be afraid to ask what it'd cost me to replace those expensive slotted rotors. I really like the idea of replacing the pads with something that's less dusty. Definitely about to invest in these pads and turn the rotors. This is my first Camaro, first Brembo brake setup, and sixed car overall. I’ve literally had my car 2 months already and I’ve probably washed it 20 plus times. Brake dust is a pet peeve for me so I’m squatting multiple times per day trying to get my dirty wheels to match my clean car.
      I’ve read that sometimes you sacrifice performance when swapping out OEM Brembo pads, but at this point an intervention might just just be saving my exterior, as washing any car too often with soap will damage its paint job.
