Flashback 1983: For the first time I read about a young underground band from America. There is a picture of four wild looking teenagers, they seem so much younger than Maiden, Saxon, Priest. They just released the "Creeping Death" maxi and on the back cover there is a photograph of the same four guys, looking much more mature and self confident and James appears to be a full scale frontman of this band, that made it from underground sensation to one of the best and most influental bands, up there with Maiden and Priest in just one year. "OK" everybody thinks "they will be very big - inside the Metal scene." ....I wanted to go on writing, but I am lazy now.... 😴

James is channeling the machine he becomes on stage, the energy to play at that level at his age does not come easy, props to them all for keeping it up all these years!
As a musician it's a really weird feeling to be visible right before the show starts - on one hand you want to build up your energy and adrenaline for when you really get on stage, and on the other you obviously do enjoy that contact! I've played for an audience since 1974 (not to the crowds Hetfield is used to, unfortunately 🤣🤣😭😭) and I still absolutely love it...

He's a riff machine, a talented songwriter, and a dedicated frontman but he's still just a man and there is nothing wrong with that. Thank you for making me want to pick up the ax Papa Hetfield!
I remember James from way Back he came to see ODIN play In SF the Band came Back to our Hotel room and spent some time with us pretty cool Wish I could sing a song with him 😊
And the reason they are still around is the reverence he has for the fans, music, showmanship, perfectionism etc. Others bands have just faded and Metallica is still Fading to Black. Much respect!

Doing what they ain't that easy. Tour dates and the travel is truely exhausting, but they love what they do, giving it back to the fans to have a good time. Kudos to METALICA!
Listening to Black album now and then, still gets me chills & rizes hair on my head. Exactly the same like in '91 during first time. You appreciate it more and more with each run, discovering some new stuff again. Also, nostalgia is a bitch.

It's awesome to see Chad still with James after all these years!!
Is he the same guitar tech from the Year and a half documentary?
@@karolosblack Yup
Chad is an awesome guy! I met him several times when Days of the New opened up for Metallica in the late 90's(they're from my area and I knew them and their road crew)
@@dransdell101 How is Travis doing? Do you know anything about him now?
@@Cbuzz1399 he's doing much better now. Living in New Mexico or Arizona right now working on trying to get funds together to buy his music rights back and make new music. I haven't seen him in a long time, but talked to him on Facebook not too long ago. Sober and living life one day at a time.
Flashback 1983: For the first time I read about a young underground band from America. There is a picture of four wild looking teenagers, they seem so much younger than Maiden, Saxon, Priest. It's written, that they have just released the fastest record ever. "OK" everybody thinks "they are extreme, they are underground and will always be!"
Flashback 1984: Every Metal fan knows Metallica. They just released the "Creeping Death" maxi and on the back cover there is a photograph of the same four guys, looking much more mature and self confident and James appears to be a full scale frontman of this band, that made it from underground sensation to one of the best and most influental bands, up there with Maiden and Priest in just one year. "OK" everybody thinks "they will be very big - inside the Metal scene."
....I wanted to go on writing, but I am lazy now.... 😴
Go on bro.... keep it, keep it really loud.... let it ring out !
I flipped when I heard Ride The Lightning. For Whom The Bell Tolls gave me chills when the guitars joined in that rolling bass line of Cliffs.
Creeping Death.Blistering! 🤘
Papa Het, you are the best. No matter how nervous you are, you're amazing, and I love you. Thank you for all the years. Your voice amazes me. Like you sing in your song, HELL YEAH ❤
I remember being a little kid looking up to James and thinking he was the coolest guy alive. Here I am 33 years old still thinking he's the coolest guy alive 👊
I like James smiles a lot. Doing what he does best. What a legend.
Hello 👋 😊
Not a Metallica fan. No reason for this, UA-cam brought me here. But seeing James honest and and vulnerable to his own status like this is terrific. Thanks for this awesome capture.
Um dos últimos ícones do rock vivo junto com Paul McCartney.
I'm always shaking like a leaf before singing live the whole first song. Then the cheers erupt and it all disappears. Its the biggest rush you could ever possibly feel and it's kind of addicting. I could only imagine how it must feel playing for a packed stadium where all eyes are on you. What a feeling it must be.
100%
First song is always the most nerve racking. After that it's like riding a bike lol
True
Seen metallica so many times always a great gig ! Never disappoint 👌👌🤘🤘
Saw the geezers at their peak in Dublin about 10 years ago! On coke!

Means allot for him / all of em to still b doing this after all we’ve been thru. Thank u MetallicA! \m/
This man has provided so much inspiration to me over the years. Thank you.
Awe, James we sincerely luv you❤
That was a great effert level the band reached as they built the performance last night. ❤

He might not have been praying and just doing some self talk.
Why? and how do you know he is "praying"?
Religious whack jobs assume everyone believes the same bullshit they do.
Love you James! Greetings from Downey CA home of the Vikings!
Hetfield is a rock/metal God, but unlike bands before Metallica, James' riffage spans almost 3 generations now, and the dude still slays with that axe.
The right hand of God. That might go to Steve Harris, lol
There have been bands that have played longer than Metallica, some of them are still going ie Iron Maiden and Kiss.
@@error4159teve Harris has the fingers of God. James has the wrist of God. And Lars, well Lars is Lars.

It's amazing they've kept it together all these years.
Although working with Miley Cyrus was a dodgy idea. Who next, Ed bleedin' Sheeran?
@johnwheeler9186 oooooOoooOohhh!!!!
It seems impossible that someone with his career on stage for thousands of people still feels nervous. It is inspiring.
It is. You'd think this would nothing to him by now
That's what makes a true professional, they never rest on their laurels and treat every performance like it's going to be the best show ever.
I imagine that it would be compounded to be so much harder being sober. The struggle to fight off the urge to not throw back a few beers or whiskeys, a bit of liquid courage to help get up on stage.
I applaud the man.
If you stop getting nervous before performing, it’s time to quit.
Sad - When you're at that age, it's just isn't Cool anymore 😢 When you're in Rock and past you're 30's Just Stop🧐
Never there was and never there will be any one like James. Always been and always will be the leader and front man of the heavy metal universe.
So personal and raw to see.... we love Papa Het! You are the best front man I've ever seen... ❤️
James is one of the coolest guys who ever walked earth
James is one of the coolest guys who ever -walked- powerstanced earth. 👍
It amazes me that these guys still have a sense of nervous energy before going out on stage. You would assume that it would be just another day at the office for them after all these years. So cool to see that they take it that seriously that it still gets them excited.
Maybe cos his task is so complicated that there’s plenty of room to screw up? I dunno
@@FastEasyLifeTipsIt also might be early in the tour. I can imagine even for seasoned vets, the first show after not playing for months is going to be way more scary than playing the 20th show of the tour.
James is channeling the machine he becomes on stage, the energy to play at that level at his age does not come easy, props to them all for keeping it up all these years!
Music is a physical activity. Their brand is extremely so. I can imagine the joint pain after 40 years of thrashing and touring. Just incredible.
Hello how are you doing Mr Shane 😊
@@HelenaRusso-ex4em Hello
@@DontLetTheOldManIn Hello nice to hear from you.
That gives me goosebumps. What more if I am in his position. Wow, let's go! Rock and Roll!
I got to say this is so awesome to see. He's one of my all time heroes but like the foo fighters say, he's ordinary. He's a riff machine, a talented songwriter, and a dedicated frontman but he's still just a man and there is nothing wrong with that. Thank you for making me want to pick up the ax Papa Hetfield!
The boss pulling boss ass moves, that walk in and starting creeping death looked soo fucking METAL. For ever the best band EVER!! 🤘🏼
I remember James from way Back he came to see ODIN play In SF the Band came Back to our Hotel room and spent some time with us pretty cool
Wish I could sing a song with him 😊
The great James Hetfield. What a legend
And the reason they are still around is the reverence he has for the fans, music, showmanship, perfectionism etc.
Others bands have just faded and Metallica is still Fading to Black.
Much respect!
After all these years James still looks nervous like the first time
Gives me goosebumps...every...damn...time
The first line of coke after a few months used to do that to me!
Being a musician...I feel this even in small venues...But once you get going..it's ON😊
The first song always kind of sucks. But it's like jogging, after the first 15 or so minutes, it's like you are in la-la land.
still rocken and sounding great all these years later!!!!!!!
Love seeing how far these guys have come
Sooooooooooo patronising !!! Who TF are YOU ??
Looking great Mr. James😊❤❤
Long time fan, the skill and dedication these guys exhibit is incredible. Imagine the practice required to be able to play Disposable Heroes and perform the vocals as well, purely gifted musicians.
Легенда! Супер! дай бог ему здоровья на долгие годы.
The fact this band is still selling out arena's 40 odd yrs straight and sounding tight af hell yer METALLICA 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Beautiful moment. I hope they keep playing concerts for years again
Qué grande, siempre con el mate al lado!
I would be so thankfull to them all,,...buying into the music...supporting us etc....what a show! Cream of the crop
Even the top professionals feel the pressure before the show, but how James handles it, is what separates the men from the boys!
Hello 👋 😊
Doing what they ain't that easy. Tour dates and the travel is truely exhausting, but they love what they do, giving it back to the fans to have a good time. Kudos to METALICA!
Матэ, сигара и погнал! 👍🏼🤘🤘🤘
Listening to Black album now and then, still gets me chills & rizes hair on my head. Exactly the same like in '91 during first time. You appreciate it more and more with each run, discovering some new stuff again. Also, nostalgia is a bitch.
Ahhhhhhhh...the living leGend of metal songs.there you are pops..yeeeaaahhh
When the nervous kick in you can see it cause anything could happen at the concert, I can feel it vibrating from him even from a video, I would be to on the level Metallica has made it to over the years to be throwing such a show this big my nervous would be crazy too and I’m a confident person to but to be in front of a whole stadium coming to see you and fans wanting your attention you just gotta balls up and give it all you got 🤘🏻 Thank you for this and thank you Metallica for existing, hope you keep that head up James and bring the lighting! 🤘🏻💯🔥🔥🔥
It's crazy how time flies by...

And to see them aging is a reminder that I am too!!!

Lucky enough to meet them in the early 90's. My friend and I got to hang out in the "Snake Pit", the diamond shaped inner part of the stage. They played all around us. It was freaking amazing! I'll never forget that.
Do you see, he is praying
I hope so. I hope he believes in God/Jesus.
