I have a repertoire of one-pot meals so I can throw everything into the pot and just leave it to cook. No stirring, and only the one pot to wash afterwards.
I find that I have one (maybe two) days right before my period that I feel "normal" and have the energy to clean. That's when I try to reset each room of house as much as i can. Pretty much the rest of the month is how you describe in your video. I've been considering investing in a house cleaner to come a few hours mid way through the month so that at least every two weeks, the house gets a good cleaning.
@amandachapman4708 I really need to do this more! It feels easier to do this in the fall and winter when soups and stews are comforting. I have also been leaning heavily on Costco items that can be cooked straight from frozen quickly and easily (potstickers in the airfrier, beef or salmon patties in a skillet, California Medley or Roasted Roots for our veggies etc. ). Otherwise, I end up throwing out a lot of food that I defrost intending to use a couple days downl the line, but then don't have the energy to actually cook, or we order out way too much for our physical and financial health!!!
What I love about this video is that you are facing reality head-on, rather than being in denial or being a victim. You are finding solutions to the problem. Just this morning I was cleaning out the oven drawer where I keep baking tins. I suddenly asked myself: why do I have 4 cookie sheets? Why?! 👉We need to eat healthier so I shouldn't be baking 48+ cookies at a time 👉We don't entertain large groups and I rarely bake for large groups 👉I dont enjoy baking much 👉Im not the kind of woman who will ever bake 48+ cookies with grandchildren one day I realized I was hamging on to a "fantasy self" that didnt allign at all with my interests or energy. So, 2 sheets are going to the second hand store! Now its easier to clean and close! ♥️🇨🇦
This sounds like me. We remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago and as I was cleaning out the old cabinets, I realized that I had too many pots and pans. Rather than pack them up, I donated them. I just don't like to cook and the 2 pots I have are adequate. Also, I may never have grandchildren so I got rid of many DVDs that my daughter had.
A few days ago when I had a little energy to devote to thinking, I sat down in the next area to Declutter, and talked to myself out loud about my fantasy self at Cetera. I remembered how are used to use that technique a lot. I would talk myself through the notes I had taken in class, I would give myself a peptalk on how I could find something to care about enough to write about for English class, I would talk myself through procedures, and somehow it’s really helpful for me to say it with my mouth, And here it with my ears, instead of writing about it/typing. It probably has something to do with my preferred way of learning and processing information. I think everyone is wired a little bit differently for that. Also, it helps me to see the thing I’m trying to make a decision about.
I loved this video! I am 70 and I struggle with fatigue. I always say I do things 3 different ways: I do things tired, I do things in tears or I do things in pain. At least I can do a little everyday to maintain a clean home. I can't work like I used to, but I'm thankful for what I CAN do. Thank you for the encouragement!
“When you only have 10%, and you give 10%, you are really giving 100%”. Thank you. This made me cry. I feel understood, and brave enough to keep going a bit longer. It reminds me of the widow who gave her last penny…
I'm a caregiver for senior citizens in their homes. A bulk of what I do is light housekeeping. It's exhausting but rewarding. But I will give everyone looking for home help a piece of advice. Please treat your helpers kindly and don't ask them to so stuff you wouldn't want to do. It's easy to burn put quickly when careing for others. A little kindness goes a long way and will help us to want to come back.
I live in chronic pain. So happy I found your channel. I felt like for the first time someone really understands. Thank you..just recently lost my husband and he was my legs. Now I need to totally change the way I do everything in my life. Today was a really bad day for pain and aching all over. I needed this video today. Back pain limits the amount of productive time to very short increments of time so I am getting farther behind the more I am trying to do. It is both depressing and frustrating.
I’m so sorry you are going through this. So hard! It will be such a change to learn to do things without your husband. Your pain makes it harder. I’m very glad that you found your way here! Thanks so much for saying hello.
I'm in my 40's between working full time and having a spouse with mental illness, I'm too exhausted to clean. I do the best I can to keep my house clean. There are many days where I feel burnt out but I keep going and clean and do other things that I need to do.
Thank you for sharing your story! It takes a lot of strength to keep pushing through tough times, and your resilience is inspiring to others who may be in similar situations. I appreciate your willingness to share with us.
Thanks for some good advice. I got blessed this week, my niece came over & helped me clean. She even cooked dinner for us. She just moved back to town & she knows all about my fibromyalgia. She is a blessing. She has 3 kids so I know this is not going to happen every week. I will take it when I can get it. The heat & fatigue is bad for me right now. I do better in cooler weather. Thanks
How nice of your niece to do that for you. She sounds great. I totally get what you are saying with heat making your Fibro worse. Me too. Every fall I feel disappointed because I missed another summer, but I just have to stay out of it. I think there has to be something about the air pressure. Otherwise, why would Fibro flare in when it is hot outside and the air conditioner is running inside? I don’t quite get that.
I'm so grateful I've found your channel! I'm learning so much from you, and I feel like myself esteem is actually improving because now I know I'm not lazy, I just don't feel well most of the time! And, the small things I can muster to get done each day add up and count as improving my environment, my health, and my well-being! Thank you, thank you for sharing your journey with us! It's making an impact on me, and so many others!
I'm not even finished watching but I just wanted to say I love what you're saying. I'm currently in a terrible fibro flare (caught a cold on top of being stressed), and when I summon the energy, I will get duplicates of cleaning supplies to keep in each room. That way it just takes a few seconds to clean the bathroom instead of having to run around the house for supplies. I was 25 when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and it is so hard sometimes to just get dressed. But on the good days I love my life and taking care of my home and husband. :)
This is so helpful! I'm 73, a diabetic with low iron. I don't sleep well and beat myself up for not doing more. But these helpful ideas really work. Prioritize my duties. Keep things in a convient locations.
Hey hopefully this will help a little with your sleep if you eat a banana before bed dark chocolate with a high cocoa content help produce melatonin and magnesium tablets are really great to help you sleep hopefully this will help you to get you back on track sending good thoughts to you😃
Thank you SO much for this video!! I'm 61 and have fibromyalgia and severe depression. I work full time from home, and some days, it's all I can do to finish my work day. Thank you for the tips and for showing me I'm not alone or lazy!!❤❤
I’m so glad you’re here! I know what you mean about sometimes, all you can do is finish the work day. I’ve been through that a lot. I worked full time until October got Long Covid in 2022. I had to retire early. You’re not alone and you’re certainly not crazy! You’re a hero for keeping on.
I am a whole 32 years old this year. For the past 12ish years, i have struggled with daily headaches, migraines, chronic fatigue, unexplained nerve pain, IBS, hypoglycemia, and mood swings. I wake up each day feeling like ive been hit by a Mac truck and then steamrolled afterward. ( and of course plenty of doctors who have basically told me that im crazy, or depressed or i just need to excersise more or eat better or DRINK MORE WATER! etc.) Alot of tiny things that thousands of people deal with, but man lots of little things really add up and sometimes its all very heavy. Sometimes i cry simply because i dont have the endurance. I often find myself feeling like ive worked a 12hr shift on my feet and in reality its only been one hour. I get up at 5 and just immediately start laundry and dishes for the day. If thats all i get done until the afternoon, then ill still be on track. Thanks for sharing. Im sure making this video drained you for a day or two, so i appreciate the work youve done to help others, despite feeling horrible.
I’m so glad to meet you. I’m sorry that you’re going through all of this. Has anyone ever looked at you having Fibromyalgia? So much of what you’re saying fits into it. You need to talk to someone who knows something about it. Fibro pain can feel like nerve pain. I feel like I have that achy part of the flu when I’m having a flare but it is just my nervous system going haywire. I also have IBS. It’s fairly common for someone with Fibro to have IBS too. You are not crazy etc. I once had a doctor tell me that I am a hypochondriac. Thankfully, the next doctor said I’m not and he sent me to get a personality profile so I could have the results in my chart to prove it. He said he didn’t want anyone to ever say it again. He’s the one that didn’t give up until we figured out O have Fibro. The fatigue feels like chronic fatigue. It can get that bad. Ever since I got Long Covid I get post exertion fatigue. It shows up a couple of days after I’ve done too much so I have to try to pace myself. Exercise can actually make things worse. A lot of doctors don’t know that. Look up the Bateman Horne clinic in Salt Lake City online. They are super-specialists about chronic fatigue, Fibro, and Long Covid. They have some excellent materials and help on the site. The way I got diagnosed the first time was that I found some materials about it and took them to my doctor. He took them, studied them, and then the next time we met, he gave me the diagnosis. It has been confirmed by a lot of specialists including Bateman Horne. (Back before they got too busy,). It might not be Fibro but it is something. You are NOT crazy, depressed or any of it. This is real. Have you seen the dots video yet? Make sure you do and then practice tracking what happens to you. It will help you sort out what you can and can’t do and when it is likely to happen. I hope this helps some!
Hello lovely lady I have just come across your video for the first time and you have no idea how much you have helped me. I am 73 I have just been diagnosed with polymyelgia Rheumatica and Rheumatoid Arthritis. For the last few months I wake up distraught worrying how I am going to clean the house, like you I can do 15mins then I’m exhausted and start dripping with perspiration. I have to lie down and rest for at least an hour then I can repeat! I am in the middle of a medical crisis state at the moment so I am extremely tired. I want to get a cleaner in to give a thorough clean once a month but my husband is dead against it! You have helped me immensely just by advising to keep cleaning stuff in each room and also the basket idea. I can’t wait to catch up with all your videos. I can’t live like this any more I really am ashamed. X
Oh - please don’t feel ashamed! You are going through something real and it’s going to take some time to adjust. You kind of have to lose the memory of what you were before and to accept your new reality. Then it will be easier for you to begin looking for easy wins and to practice gratitude for small things. We’re not used to doing that. I wish your husband would allow the monthly house cleaning! I’m glad to hear that the video encouraged you. I’m glad you’re here!
@@pamelalyon3264 This is the problem my husband does all the laundry and cooking so I can’t ask him to take on anything more. He doesn’t see the untidiness the dust not to mention the build up of clutter. He has said he will do it but that’s it!! I know I’m being pathetic but I have always kept a tidy and organised house. I have faith so I know it will all work out. Thank you for your interest. X
Thank you for your content! I have had chronic pain since I was 15, and was diagnosed with ADHD in my late 30s. I discovered your channel through your video on your color coding for your energy/pain levels. It has been so helpful!!!
I love this so much. I am “only” 50. But I’ve through so much health wise including cancer and many surgeries. Sometimes I feel 40 live those days. But a lot of days I feel 60 or 70. I struggle with a lot of cleaning tasks like vacuuming, scrubbing the tub and toilet etc. I have finally contacted a cleaning person who will be doing a good deep clean of our home, focusing on the bathroom and kitchen. We will see how helpful it is considering the price etc. We also got a robot vacuum that has been incredibly helpful! I recommend them to anyone struggling with vacuuming. It gets under my bed etc. compared to having to lift up my mattress etc and use my regular vacuum.
I relate to what you’re saying! Years ago, when I had a business and was making more money, I hired a cleaning service to come in every other week. It was just one cute lady that came. It was soooo helpful to me. I really wish I could afford it right now, but who knows… maybe someday? Meanwhile, happy for you that you get to try it out!
I feel so tired, I thought I am getting old... And that is the reason, I have pain since I open my eyes every morning, and I over tired and I have hard time to finish my work. Is good to know that other people feel like me and I am not alone in this world feeling that way.
I'm so glad you're here. No, you're not alone. I have long stretches when I feel that way (when my Fibro acts up). It makes me so grateful during the times I feel almost normal. But I wake up in pain a lot. I'm sorry you're going through it!!
Today: after midnite hour: I’m exhausted. Mentally. Emotionally. I did my kitchen reset. The pets are reset fresh ice- water n fresh food in a clean feeding bowl. Counters are cleaned n cleared. Dishes are done both bathroom are clean .! Kitchen floor is clean. Not moped. But it’s clean. Fir midnite hour. Everyone hug your self, tell the lord thank you, tell urself thank you. Tomorrow is a new fresh start . Love you all. ❤❤ he loves you. Most all . Let your joy be restored, your heart be forgiven . 🎉celebrate life!! Your day is done!
As a fellow fibromyalgia sufferer, the best thing I have learned is to just do a bit short of energy depletion, as you said, but do it every day whatever your energy level is that day. It keeps me from feeling useless and actually builds my stamina baseline.
Lots of wonderful ideas! I already do some of them, but you gave me new ones to try. Most people can't comprehend the level of fatigue that you are talking about, but I do. I have different health issues than you do, and they also produce debilitating fatigue. Thank you for the helpful tips, and I pray that you have more good days than bad ones.
Such great explanations of manageable and practical tips. I’ve been struggling with my energy and levels of fatigue. Thank you for sharing some of the ways that you manage your struggles.
I check my internal dialogue to make sure I cease self criticism. Then I eat a snack and lay down for a nap. Lastly when my doctor tried to diagnose me with fibromyalgia it turned out to be artificial sweetener. Then I gently consumed less and less artificial sweetener until all physical pain was gone. I say give yourself permission to nap and rest as needed.
I have copd and have been struggling with the doing, because I have always done, but now not being able to breathe with very little activity i have been very down on myself , but this was so very helpful. Thank you.
I am 28 seconds into your video and I totally understand. I have fibromyalgia, lupus and RA. The tired I feel sometimes is all encompassing. It is like no other tried I've ever felt before. I know tired because I worked and raised three children and had a husband that thought all he had to do was work. Heck, I worked two jobs (full and part time) when his job was cut short every week for to the weather. So I've known tired but nothing like a fibromyalgia tired. Anyone ever needs to talk, I'm here because I totally understand it. I have a Shark robo vacuum up and downstairs. I have all hardwood flooring. These work really well on hard floors. I cannot mop upstairs and downstairs in the same week. I alternate weeks. I feel if my kitchen and bathrooms are clean then we are good. My now husband helps with the mopping and would do it all if I would let him. A helping partner makes a world of difference.
@@TowardsASimpleLife I have lived with fibro since I was in my 20's but I wasn't given a diagnosis till in my 30's. At least twice a year I was hospitalized for exhaustion. When I knew I had fibromyalgia, I tried to manage it. But I was raised the same way, to be a hard worker and push on. I had Covid in 2021 and was forced to retire. I still deal with certain things from long Covid.
I absolutely know how you feel! I have RA and it takes a huge uphill push to get things done.Like yourself if I can get the kitchen and bathroom at least properly cleaned, I'm good!
Sometimes, I have things or processes that are not eco-friendly, but they help me conserve energy. I can only work 3-4 hours a day. I'm 80, and that might be part of it, but I also have heart problems and that and the medicines I take give me fatigue. Thanks for your video.
Rozanne, I try to get up early in the morning and start my day. I try to get all of my housework done in the am and the afternoons are my time to rest, and do what I want too. I actually feel like I can accomplish more in the morning than wait to do it later in the day. I hope you have a great day and take care.
I'm a morning girl too. It doesn't help my longing to make dinner though... I need to plan ahead better, I guess. But morning is always my best chance. See you!
Foods dont stick to plastic dishes, a small container with water at sink for silverware & a grabber in each room to help with picking up: those 3 things help tremendously
Lots of great ideas and tips. One thing to reconsider. Clorox can be toxic to breathe or get on your skin. I would recommend rinsing your shower before getting in to clean yourself. Healing blessings!
No worries. My shower is two floors above the water heaters. I have to let it run for quite a while before the water warms up. Everything is gone by the time I get in. I should have remembered to say that! Glad you’re concerned about me. That’s nice. 🙂
I have found declutter and slowly eliminating items not needed and don't use. It can be slow but has helped me so much . After working 40 years on nursing floor and having health ussues at 66 I found running out of steam happens too often. Great video thank you
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad to hear that the video resonated with you. Your journey is inspiring, and it’s amazing how decluttering can transform our lives! I'm going slow, but the decluttering I've done so far this year feels so good.
Great tips, even for us who are just older and tired of cleaning. When my mom got older, she kept a chair in the laundry room and sat to fold warm clothes as she emptied the dryer.,one less step. This was before cell phones and ipads, so today I’d do that while catching up on youtube videos, a book on tape or music. PS: I adore that wall color! Fantastic choice. EDIT: I try to declutter as much as I can. Less to dust, wipe down, keep track of in the laundry stage. It may only be a small box or bag every few weeks but it adds up. It’s not pretty, but I often keep a box in my main traffic pattern so it reminds me to fill it. 😉
I wish I would have thought of the chair in the laundry room for my elderly mother when she was still alive. Great solution. (I love the wall color too!)
I’ve just subscribed to your channel. I’ve had Crohn’s disease for most of my life and it has definitely taken a toll on me. I did have multiple surgeries in my early to mid twenties and although it helped in many ways as I’ve aged other problems have arisen. I battle fatigue as well as joint pain, back pain and arthritis. It makes it very difficult and frustrating to get much done around my home. I feel I’m getting more and more behind as the years pass. I’m looking forward to all of your tips and tricks as I need all the help I can get.❤️🙏
Welcome! I'm glad to meet you. Crohn's is a rough one all by itself and having the other issues has to make it harder for you. I'm so sorry. I wish I could make things better for you!
@lynncampbell5902 I get that. Mine is like that sometimes. All we can do is the best we can and then, when we feel a little better, get caught up more. It’s a challenge.
Such a beautiful motivating video and I stumbled upon it as though it was meant to be. Definitely subscribing. I know some people in their late 60s , 70s and I will share it with them.
I am a big fan of telescoping handles on helpful tools! This reminded me that I may have lost an extension section for A little portable canister vacuum that can really get into the crevices/corners between carpet and baseboard, especially the corners. I’ve been bending over for years to do this, and have been shoving it to the back burner for awhile…Think I’ll do a quick search online, and maybe call my vacuum guys who are so helpful.
I’ve got a lot on my plate, including a lot of exposure to extremely high heat and emotional exhaustion right now. Just completely wrung out. I moved the Dawn power wash spray out of its basket under the sink and right where I could grab it easily if I just opened the right hand base cabinet door to grab it. I just don’t wanna look at it on my counter all the time when I only need it for certain things, Cutting the effort 50% to grab it is helpful. The little things help. Doing the basics of keeping the laundry & kitchen moving forward, between trips to the medical center and naps. The time spent driving in my car without AC drains energy faster than just about anything. More than hours and hours in hospital waiting rooms.
Great video! First ... I'd like to lovingly caution you about the bathroom (or any) chemicals... especially what your bare feet are exposed to (the cleaners in your shower). These chemicals can cause all sorts of health problems. Please consider either switching to less-toxic cleaners, or try to use a water and vinegar mixture. That can't be used on some surfaces - like marble - but it's great for most. I use an equal parts water and white vinegar spray for pretty much EVERYTHING in my home. For the toilet - I just dump straight vinegar in since there's already water in it. For scrubbing I use baking soda or Bon Ami from the health food store. That's it. Not only is it much safer and healthier for everyone, but it's also super cheap. Sitting down when doing certain things was so difficult for me to incorporate... and I still really struggle to remember at times. It certainly helps! And I LOVE my robot vacuum. I've had it for 2 full years now and wonder why I didn't get one sooner. It "mops" too, but it leaves streaks. I'll have to check in to the steam mop... I heard they might cause warping in laminate flooring, but you use yours on laminate flooring and all seems fine, right?? I'll do more research. It's been about 15 years since I've looked into it, and the technology has probably really improved! Blessings, Joanne in SW MO
I’d heard that about steam mops too, but I was desperate. What I do is put it on the lowest setting and then keep it moving. I never set it down in one place when I am moving furniture etc. around. If I have to put it down, I’m find a different surface. (Although you can turn it off, which shuts off the steam, so you could do that instead.) It stands up on its own very well. After using it a few times, I realized that it actually puts very little water on the floor and I think moping was worse - a lot more water. It has been one of my best purchases. I use the high setting on the tile in my kitchen. Maybe if you had extremely thin, cheap laminate you could potentially run into problems - especially if you let it sit in one place, but even then, maybe not if you do what I do. There so little water and it dries extremely fast. Just use the lowest setting. I couldn’t vouch for a different brand, because I don’t know how they work. A tip: I bought a ton of extra pads and I’ve been glad. It cleans so well that you need to change them often. You’ll clean them in the washer and dryer. You can tell when it’s time to change them because you’ll start to smell something weird. It’s all the dirt. Putting a new pad on resolves that. You never use anything but water in it - no cleaning solutions or vinegar as they can damage the works and you’ll loose the warranty. But plain water works great because it’s the steam that cleans. Hope that helps!
@@TowardsASimpleLife wonderful - thank you for all the tips! I'll definitely check in to getting one. I mopped my floors today ... it's been a while since it's been done and I assume I'd mop more often if I had a steam mop :) :) :) Thanks again!
It's true i feel tired. My back always hurts. I do things early in the morning the rest of the day I write read Bible scripture journal. DO THIINGS YOU ENJOY TREATING YOUR SELF.
Great video! Sorry you are in a flare. I pray you come out of it quickly. I do the same thing to my all glass shower enclosure. Working smarter not harder. Thanks for continuing to share. XO
I just found your channel. I almost cried, I feel like I’m the only one who is tired like this. Tired doesn’t begin to describe the unpredictable lack of energy, and then sleeping poorly just adds to it. I have a floor question: do you use a robo vac and a steam cleaner for your bare floors? Our main floor is almost entirely bare floor, and I think an investment in one of these is a good thing. Thank you SO much!!!
I am so glad you’re here!! You’re not alone at all. It’s good for all of us to learn that. Yes, I use the robo vac and the steamer. I’ve gotten so I don’t like the way the mopping works with the robo vacuum- too streaky on our shiny laminate floors. If the floor wasn’t shiny, it might work better. The vac goes the wrong direction! But I’m glad I got the robo vac because it does a great job vacuuming and I don’t get burned out. Then I can quickly use the steamer and the floor looks great. I only do this once a week. (if I can) It was worth every penny I spent to get them. Maybe the robo vac would mop your particular floor just fine. I think you could try the robo first and then if you aren’t happy with the end result, you could get the steamer. That said, if you have a tile floor, get the steamer too. It is miraculous how much easier it is to clean tile floors with a steamer and no soap is required! Get the right equipment because doing floors burns you out like nothing else can.
I have Fibromyalgia too! The fatigue is probably more debilitating than the pain most days. I can’t pace so I just push myself until I can’t each day which is around 1:30 pm. I crash for a few hours then I prepare dinner for myself and my husband. Ready for bed again by 7! I am always behind with everything and feel constantly overwhelmed.
Oh. Boy. I relate to this. Fortunately, the flares do go away for a while and I get some breaks. I’ve been in one for a few months now because of summer heat and storms. Can’t wait for it to cool down a bit. So sorry to hear that you’re having such a rough time!
@@TowardsASimpleLife I’ve felt pretty ill since I developed fibromyalgia 10 years ago. It’s never gone away however I feel like I can’t get a period of a few months where I can truly rest and concentrate on myself and learn how to get good rest, pace myself and bring the pain down. Mostly family issues like daughter who has health challenges and is a single mom, my aging mother who also needs help. Sometimes I feel like I will need to find a cabin in the woods to focus on my health. I’m loving your channel, I have watched several videos and you have some great tips and advice on slowing down. Excellent job!
@ashatan4554 wouldn’t it be lovely to get away like that? A cabin in the woods by a lake where it is quiet sounds heavenly. I can’t get away like that either. I have to just stop and rest off and on during the day as I can (and need to). I’m not sure if you know that my elderly mother lived with us for about 12 years. She died a year ago at 98. We also have three adult children and two grandchildren living with us. (Housing prices!!) we have to watch our 6-year old granddaughter after school and shortly, the school situation for the 13-year old is changing so I’ll have to pick her up after school every day. It’s kind of crazy. All I can do is do what I can and try not to be disappointed with myself that I can’t do more during the flare periods. I try to do something - even something small - because that keeps me encouraged. But boy, I have had to lower my standards, particularly when I’m not feeling great. I’m glad that flares are temporary. They last longer and come more frequently since I got Long Covid. Looking forward to my next break from it. I’m so glad you found my channel. It’s nice to talk to you!
I’m watching you for the first time. I have fibromyalgia and chronic pain (in addition to the fibromyalgia pain). I have had it for 30 years or so. The fatigue makes the pain worse, I think. I’m in a flare too. Usually summer is better for me but I think this weather is at fault. I would encourage each person here to take it easier on themselves. Don’t work till midnight. Don’t work until you drop. Don’t work until you have to go to bed. I find a timer very helpful. I set it by how I feel that day. Maybe 5 minutes, maybe 15. Rarely can I work longer than 15 without a break. A spotless house is NOT necessary. Just a little tidy, a little clean will go a long way. Oh, and if you haven’t simplified your house, make that a priority. Declutter like a fiend. If you need help with this check out Dana White, Cas (Clutterbug) or Dawn (the minimal mom). If you are in a giant mess, I suggest Dana’s method which leads to progress and only progress.
@sandyh8755N So nice to meet you! You’ve given some great advice. It sounds like you’ve had Fibro about as long as I have. A spotless house is the impossible dream for me. 😀 Dana K White is great. Did you see I did a video about her book? It’s a great book.
@@TowardsASimpleLife thé flylady app is great and free to use with no annoying pop up ads. She’s all about using kitchen timers and breaking things down into small tasks throughout the day. I will often rotate through my day 15 minutes at a time. 15 minutes on my home business, 15 minutes housework and then I get to relax for 15 minutes (usually spent reading a novel haha). Amazing how much you can get done in those little chunks (even going at low energy snail pace like I do 😆). Thank you for all the great tips !
Thank you so much for this video! You have a new subscriber 😃. I am a year out from having a full right mastectomy and am doing great but am shocked that I still get so fatigued. Your words and suggestions are so encouraging. I will be implementing the new things I learned here. Have a blessed day! 💐💐💐
Thank you for this. I really needed this. I have alot of health issues and I feel guilty when I don’t feel like getting up and doing things. Thank you I appreciate your advice.
I have fibromyalgia. The symptoms went away when I ate a beef only diet plus vitamins and minerals supplements. All symptoms went away in two weeks mark including the headaches, migraines and brain fog. After 3 months into the beef only diet I started to eat a normal diet again minus the wheat, wheat it's incredibly inflammatory in my case. If I eat bread, the inflammation attack comes back as soon as I eat it. Now I'm back to square one, inflammation, joint pain, stiff neck and joints, muscle pain, brain fog, blurry eye vision, chronic fatigue and no matter how much I sleep I wake up very tired. Fibromyalgia is a real life nightmare. It annihilates the person that suffers from it.
I'm glad that diet worked well for you for awhile. It had to have been great to have a break from the symptoms. It's awful when the flares start. For me, they are tied to the quality of my sleep (I need enough deep sleep sessions) and the weather. Sleep is supreme.
Excellent Excellent Excellent. Such good and simple advice. Your family is blessed. You are blessed to share your insights with your family and your You tube family. We love ❤️ and appreciate your strength and courage to face the challenges of life daily. We need your help 😢.
This is how I roll: After every shower the tiles and floor are wiped down with a very thick micro cloth for cars. After almost 5 years the shower looks brand new. *Toilet:* no one uses the toilet without cleaning it with a mixture of white vinegar and rose essential oil - which is in a spray bottle on the floor beside the toilet. The toilet seat is sprayed after use. *Floors:* No one wears shoes in our home. Only socks, slippers or bare feet. In that way, floor mopping is down to a minimum. I don't dust, but I vacuum, because I'm very allergic to dust. No food or drinks in the bedrooms upstairs. Yes, baskets where any clutter naturally collect.
@morningglory9288 actually, they all do full loads when they do their laundry. It’s not possible for anyone to add to the loads they wash. Meanwhile, I don’t have to do the work of sorting, folding a lot of people’s laundry, which would definitely be harder on me. Having family members do their own laundry really is the way to go once they get old enough to do it. I’ve raised four kids and have two grandkids living here and I’ve seen first-hand that kids (and the adults they become) aren’t interested in doing a bunch of small loads. What they tend to do is wait until they have so many dirty clothes that they are forced to do their laundry (because they don’t have much to wear) and the loads get almost too big. I wash my husband’s and my clothing once a week and between the two of us, I’m alway washing full loads. It works out.
So glad I found your video, it was full of good advice. Saying a Prayer for you that you will get more better energy days - sorry I don’t know your name so will just call you Sweet Lady! Love from Sussex, UK
Hi June! My name is Rozanne (said, like Rose Ann). I'm so glad you're here. I'm always excited to see subscribers from the UK because (almost) my entire family came from there. It's my dream to visit someday. I appreciate your prayers!
I went to the doctor last Monday and he ordered a heap of bloodwork I had done Tuesday and I get the results tomorrow. I have been so tired lately and even though I have retired and moved into a motor home so I don’t know why I’m so tired thus the reason I went to doctors, I hope this video will help me.
I am 78 and I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. One of the symptoms of RA is fatigue, along with the pain that comes with it. I also have lymphedema…and neuropathy from Chemotherapy. Needless to say, I am tired a lot and don’t get a lot done.
I can see why you would be tired! I should think that anything you manage to do is awesome because just the fact that you did anything, under the circumstances, is courageous.
Hi, a nice quote for you and your viewers; 'Doing more things does not make you a better person. It makes you a tired person' (courtney carver). Bye bye ⚘👋🌈
Thank you for sharing I have been trying to come up with solutions like this. I have no help so it's really hard. I have 3 types of arthritis & other spine issues, etc. So your so helpful.
I just came across your channel. This past week I worked everyday and made myself sick, I overworked. Today I am so exhausted and have been for the past few days. I'm in a RA flare because of trying too hard to keep up. I think your channel will help, you have some great suggestions. By the way are you wearing overalls? If so where did you get them?😊I'm really struggling with the cooking aspects of my life, any suggestions on how toeat healthy when you are in the red?
So glad you’re here! I tend to do that too sometimes, meaning overworking. The dots system my cognitive therapist taught me helps me do better. At least, I’m more aware of what I’m doing that I once was. I do have some overalls- you’ll see them in other videos. I bought them from Temu and like them, but I had to alter them. This time, I was wearing a denim apron. Your request for easy meals for these times has got my mind spinning. Maybe I’ll make a video about it. Meanwhile, I try to have things around that I can quickly grab that are fairly healthy - like hummus and carrots, smoothie mixes, etc. I’m pretty lucky in that my family helps make dinner when things get too hard for me. But we got for fast, easy, uncomplicated meals. Leftovers. We have leftovers a lot. 😀
@@TowardsASimpleLife also on youtube, Dr. Ken berry did an article on fibro. he said some drs. are not up to date on this. maybe it will help. hes really good.
Ok I need someone to talk to who understands more about me and some how I feel like it's you. So I need advice. I have no income yet. I'm in my fifties. Me and my son live in a two bedroom apartment and my son is disabled since birth and partially in a wheel chair and I have recently became disabled. I had surgery in 2023 and somehow I feel I haven't gotten my strength back or energy. I've been watching your videos about cleaning when tired and about the dots. I know my son and I might need help but I don't have the money. I'm trying to do basic chores and I was depressed for many years and had met things go for about four years since I did a deep clean. I just need information on how to get my energy back. I have arthritis that is progressing.
My heart is breaking for you. I hope that things get better for you and that you are able to receive an income. You are a hero to take care of your son and to seek ways to improve your energy. I hope that things will change that you can go to a doctor and get the medical care you need. I would encourage you to try to do one or two things - even very small things - each day because it will encourage you. Often when we have low energy, just getting started is the hardest, as in standing up and starting to move. I have that struggle often. Did you see the vide about KC Davis yet and her advice about cleaning when you're drowning? I'm wondering if that might help you. Also, if you can't afford to buy her book, you might see if you can borrow it from your library. If they don't have it, often libraries will purchase a book someone is interested in. You could check into that. Use the dots method to monitor yourself. You'll learn how to do things and how to stop when you're not feel well so you don't get worse. I would also recommend doing some research for things you can do about it. Look for small, realistic methods because they are out there. Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep is the number one problem of people that have low energy. When someone gets Fibromyalgia, the doctor immediately starts working on helping the patient sleep better. It's so important that I'm thinking about doing a video about it because I know my sleep would be much better if I started to apply better sleep habits and researching what to do and then trying them would kind of force my hand into trying them before I talk about them. I hope that's helped a little. If nothing else, please know that I'm on your side and am hoping that you start feeling better.
That’s rough! I guess there are good about elements of that. On one hand, you don’t have anyone to help you when you need it. On the other hand, you don’t have anyone making messes that need to be cleaned up. 😂 I hope you’ll be gentle and understanding with yourself as you try to get along. You’re doing the best you can.
well, i use to have pain, but now that i take 420 mg of triple complex magnesium. it relaxes and heals your muscles so you sleep better.and i dont get muscle cramps. i take 1 after dinner.
I keep meaning to check more into this. I actually bought the magnesium but then I read that it can cause problems with certain types of high blood pressure medications because your blood pressure could go too low. But it is only one type of medication that can cause problems. I need to figure out if the type I take will work out okay. Fibro isn’t really muscles cramping. You may feel achy in that way, but it is a brain problem where your brain thinks something is happening but it’s not actually happening. I had a Fibro doctor that is a well-known researcher. He explained it to me but I can’t remember all of the details. I’m on an anti-seizure medication for that reason. (I don’t have seizures.) It’s supposed to help the brain communicate better. That’s why Tylenol or Ibuprofen won’t work for Fibro pain. Fibro is such a strange thing. I was actually doing pretty good with my Fibro until I got Covid (and Long Covid). That changed absolutely everything. It kind of turned my world upside down.
Simple Inspired Blog has some ideas for the elderly. Also, although Diane in Denmark (UA-cam) is very high energy herself her housekeeping plan is good. A simple morning routine plus a little extra each day.
I use a bit of dawn dish soap water placed in flat containers , with a small floor lamp in the middle and turn it on at night then clean up in morning , takes awhile but it will catch and drown them all. Careful with your cats by placing them in room that's not being treated. Takes about a month and is a bit of work but I've completely eliminated this way. It's my go to when nothing else is working and it's cheap. The soap sticks to them so they can't jump back out of the water and they drown. I try to fit four or five containers around the lamp. Good luck.
So glad you're here. Do you have any things you do when you're tired to get along better? We'd love to hear them!
I drink coffee to keep going.😁😃😃I have a sponge mop to clean shower walls, walls & windows.
I can't drink coffee, but I understand why they could help. :-) A sponge mop is a good idea.
"When you only have 10% and you give 10% you've actually given 100%"
Wow...eye opening perspective. Thsnk you. This will go far with self acceptance .
You’re welcome. I have to remind myself of this on a regular basis. ☺️
That’s a great way to look at it!
Such a great point!
What I love about this video is that you are facing reality head-on, rather than being in denial or being a victim. You are finding solutions to the problem.
Just this morning I was cleaning out the oven drawer where I keep baking tins. I suddenly asked myself: why do I have 4 cookie sheets? Why?!
👉We need to eat healthier so I shouldn't be baking 48+ cookies at a time
👉We don't entertain large groups and I rarely bake for large groups
👉I dont enjoy baking much
👉Im not the kind of woman who will ever bake 48+ cookies with grandchildren one day
I realized I was hamging on to a "fantasy self" that didnt allign at all with my interests or energy. So, 2 sheets are going to the second hand store! Now its easier to clean and close! ♥️🇨🇦
Thanks! I appreciate that. You’re making me think I need to revisit my kitchen decisions. Such good logic!
That’s great!
I need to try this.
Hi Wanda! I’m so glad it helped! 😀
“When you only have 10%, and you give 10%, you are really giving 100%”. Thank you. This made me cry. I feel understood, and brave enough to keep going a bit longer. It reminds me of the widow who gave her last penny…
It reminded me of the widow also.
Oh - great analogy. Yes, it does feel like the widow and the note. You are brave!
Hi, sweet lady! I'm so tired of cleaning. I'm 71 and I've had to clean since I was 9 years old, but I want a clean house.😓😓
I relate to this! Wouldn't it be great if someone did it for us? :-)
Have iron deficiency chronic fatigue im so sad
@tessajetta8146 I’m sorry to hear that! Wish I could give you a hug or something.
I agree with you all of us have to clean if we want a clean house l am 71yrs old also.my mum cleaned until 85yrs old.😀🙏
I'm a caregiver for senior citizens in their homes.
I’m so glad you’re here! I’m really glad to hear that the videos are helping. It’s what I’ve hope for.
I’m so sorry you’re having to go through it too. You’re so right about the good days. I appreciate them so much more than o used to.
This is so helpful! I'm 73, a diabetic with low iron. I don't sleep well and beat myself up for not doing more. But these helpful ideas really work. Prioritize my duties. Keep things in a convient locations.
I’m so glad to hear the ideas are helping you!
Hey hopefully this will help a little with your sleep if you eat a banana before bed dark chocolate with a high cocoa content help produce melatonin and magnesium tablets are really great to help you sleep hopefully this will help you to get you back on track sending good thoughts to you😃
@@cleoennis780 That’s good to know!
I love the explanation of lazy! Light bulb moment.
Glad it was helpful!
You my friend are a divine gift. Yes I relate to everything. Thank you and more -- as you can
Wow, thank you. That's so kind of you. I appreciate you!
You have helped me immensely just by advising to keep cleaning stuff in each room and also the
basket idea.
❤❤❤
Sending you gentle hugs!
Is your husband averse to doing any of the work?
@@quietlife7186 ❤️thank you sending hug back to you X
I’m glad you found me! 😀
Wow, you did a lot. Appreciate your encouraging words!
As a fellow fibromyalgia sufferer, the best thing I have learned is to just do a bit short of energy depletion, as you said, but do it every day whatever your energy level is that day. It keeps me from feeling useless and actually builds my stamina baseline.
It sounds like you have something working well for you. That’s awesome. It is valuable to do something every day - even if it is small. 😀
I just told my husband this morning that I need to figure out how to do less. I was glad to find your channel this evening!
I’m so glad you’re here!
Thanks Kim. I hope you have more good days too. But yeah… this is something you have to feel to know what it is. Fatigue is really something.
Such great explanations of manageable and practical tips. I’ve been struggling with my energy and levels of fatigue. Thank you for sharing some of the ways that you manage your struggles.
You're so welcome! I'm really glad you found the tips helpful.
I’m so glad to hear that it turned out not to be Fibro for you. What a blessing! 😀
I have copd and have been struggling with the doing, because I have always done, but now not being able to breathe with very little activity i have been very down on myself , but this was so very helpful. Thank you.
So sorry to hear that life is hard for you right now. I’m so glad the video helped some. ❤️
My job is doing Housekeeping and I have a 2 year. I just want to lay down on my bed when I get home. This video is helpful thank you.
Oh my goodness! You must be exhausted when you come home. I can see why you just want to lie down. I’m glad the video helped you!
Yeah, you have to live it to know it. So sorry you’ve been going through this!
@kimhanback1302 wow. We have a lot in common! Fibro. Long Covid. Having to retire early because of it. Lots.
You are so welcome! Conserving your energy is the right way to go. Take care of yourself. ❤️
I so agree. Even if we use disposable plates a few times a week, or one week on and one week off, it does help save our energy.
If I ever make it to 80, I will do absolutely no housework!!!😂😂😂

Thank you for your tips. Cleaning is my less favourite part of house work. 👍
I totally relate to that! Sometimes I 'kind of" like it, but usually, I'd rather do something else. :-)
Rozanne, I try to get up early in the morning and start my day. I try to get all of my housework done in the am and the afternoons are my time to rest, and do what I want too. I actually feel like I can accomplish more in the morning than wait to do it later in the day. I hope you have a great day and take care.

Foods dont stick to plastic dishes, a small container with water at sink for silverware & a grabber in each room to help with picking up: those 3 things help tremendously
Great tips!
I just love you! You are so helpful!
Thank you so much. That's such a nice thing to hear. :-)
Thank you for your encouraging words!
I'm so glad you found the words encouraging! Your support means a lot to me!
Such excellent advice. I have figured out most of these techniques over the years & they work really well❣️❣️
Thanks! It’s nice that you use them too!
Thank you I like the task you mentioned for feel least tire when cleaning the house and organizing. Very very helpful.😊
I'm so glad you found the it helpful! That's so great. :-)
I do 1 min. -2 min. Just to get it done. I did 5 X. 5. Speed clean. I did it.! My house is clean.! I feel great!!
Yay! Great job!! 🎉
That's wonderful! Congrats!
Really good ideas, as usual
Thanks Connie. Funny - I was just thinking about you today for some reason. So glad to see you. 😀
Extremely helpful, thank you so much😊
I’m so glad! 😃
I have fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue. Yes, it is very difficult to get things done.
So sorry to hear you have it too! Thanks for saying hi. 👋
I have the same. I try to do a couple of jobs but rest a lot. My house is so untidy it gets me down 🥲
@lynncampbell5902 I get that. Mine is like that sometimes. All we can do is the best we can and then, when we feel a little better, get caught up more. It’s a challenge.
I'm so thankful I found you on you tube
I’ll thankful you’re here!
Such a beautiful motivating video and I stumbled upon it as though it was meant to be. Definitely subscribing. I know some people in their late 60s , 70s and I will share it with them.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to me that you want to share this video with others. Welcome to the community!
Great tips I have cronic fatigue, I bought myself a stick vacume best thing ever
That’s a good idea. Those extensions can really help.
this video is very understanding of ADHD struggles I really appreciate it! 💜
You're so welcome. I live with four family members with ADD, so I understand what it is. They are wonderful.
Forget cleaning and use the energy to enjoy living!
Absolutely!!
Heat gets me too. It’s so draining. I agree that if you can cut down on the effort to do things, even by a little bit, it helps. Take care!
(Although you can turn it off, which shuts off the steam, so you could do that instead.)
It stands up on its own very well.
I mopped my floors today ... it's been a while since it's been done and I assume I'd mop more often if I had a steam mop :) :) :)
Thanks again!
It's true i feel tired. My back always hurts. I do things early in the morning the rest of the day I write read Bible scripture journal.

I’m sorry to hear about your back. That’s really hard. I’m glad to hear that you’re doing things you love. ❤️
Your kitchen is beautiful ! 💐x
Thanks! I'm really enjoying it. :-)
So glad your video showed up. Thanks for your advise and thoughts....I will subscribe and follow your channel. 😀
I'm so glad you're here! Thanks for saying hi. :-)
Great video! Sorry you are in a flare. I pray you come out of it quickly. I do the same thing to my all glass shower enclosure. Working smarter not harder. Thanks for continuing to share. XO
Thanks Lesa!!!
I’m not tired I just have much better things to do than clean!!! Certainly not where I want to expand my energy.
I totally get that! Sometimes there are just so many more exciting things to focus on than cleaning. :-)
Hi I'm very new to your channel I have fibromyalgia too and all over arthritis and other chronic and non chronic problems
Welcome! Sorry that you’re going through this too. So glad to meet you!
You are simply wonderful. Thank you for giving encouragement and support to others. You are helping people give themselves grace.
You are so kind. Thank YOU for encouraging me and for helping ME. I really appreciate hearing from you.
You have described my life.
Thank you so much for watching! It means a lot to hear that someone really gets how it is when I have rough days.
Have you heard of the fly lady system? It sounds similar to what you do. Diane in Denmark here on UA-cam explains it so beautifully.
I have heard of her, but haven’t really investigated it much. I have seen Diane’s videos pop up in my feed now and again. She seems nice.
It is amazing how quickly you can get things done. Putting a timer on it is very eye opening!
I’m so glad your video came to my recommendations. You totally get it. Subscribed! Tysm for the helpful tips and understanding.
So glad you’re here! I’m happy to hear that the video was helpful. 😀
Thank you so much for this video! You have a new subscriber 😃. I am a year out from having a full right mastectomy and am doing great but am shocked that I still get so fatigued. Your words and suggestions are so encouraging. I will be implementing the new things I learned here. Have a blessed day! 💐💐💐
Hi! It’s so nice to meet you! I’m glad the video is helping you and am so glad you found me. Hope you have a good week. 😀
Thank you for this. I really needed this. I have alot of health issues and I feel guilty when I don’t feel like getting up and doing things. Thank you I appreciate your advice.
You are so welcome! I’m glad it helped. 😀
I just finished the book! Will read it again to let things sink in more.
👍👍👍❤️
I find if you boil the kettle, hot water cleans your toilet really well and quickly.
That’s interesting! Do you boil a kettle for each toilet?
I’m so happy that you enjoyed it. I truly appreciated that you told me so. It’s very encouraging to hear.
This is how I roll:
After every shower the tiles and floor are wiped down with a very thick micro cloth for cars.
Wow, you really have it figured it out. Good for you!
@@TowardsASimpleLife As a busy and burnt out school teacher, I have to roll in this fashion in order to keep my life from falling apart 😓
@TheAllisonLab hopefully, things will get better for you in the future. 🙏
A real improvement in my life was when my teenage sons and husband started doing their own laundry. Empty nest now but hubby still does his own!
Oh yeah! That does make a huge difference!
Thank you for this video.
You’re so welcome!
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope you get some answers soon. Hope the video has helped you!
Bye bye ⚘👋🌈
That’s a wonderful quote. Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you for sharing I have been trying to come up with solutions like this. I have no help so it's really hard. I have 3 types of arthritis & other spine issues, etc. So your so helpful.
You're so welcome. I'm glad to have helped you in even a small way.
I follow Dana K. White. I have Chiari 2 and know tiredness too.
Dana is so good. Love her!
Nice cleaning tips it really helped me🥇 your the best
Glad to hear that!
Hey miss I’m tired all day everyday because of anxiety and depression
I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. It's really tough. I hope you start having some better times before long!
❤ Thank you
You’re so welcome!
Great tips👍👍
Thanks!

Link to vacuum that does hard floor?
Are you talking about the steamer of the new robo vacuum I got for the downstairs?
What is the Bissell floor cleaner you use?
It's the Bissell Power Fresh Steam Mop. I bought mine from Amazon. Here's a link: amzn.to/3T1n4Qi
P.S. did you know farmers use to supplement the soil with magnesium, and many no longer do because of financial constraints.?
That’s so weird. I hadn’t heard that one before! Maybe my grandpa knew about it. He was a farmer.
@@TowardsASimpleLife i heard it on a organic farm on pbs program.
@lisaann6267 I love PBS documentaries. I bet it was good.
No family. Have to do everything by myself
❤❤❤
Thanks!
Hi very useful video. I have fibromyalgia and u am strughling. Please keep doing videos like this. Take care.❤ Ftom uk.
Thank you, I will. I’m always looking for ideas that can help us all. So many of us are on the same type of journey. I hope you have a good weekend!
@@TowardsASimpleLife thanks for your reply.take care
well, i use to have pain, but now that i take 420 mg of triple complex magnesium. it relaxes and heals your muscles so you sleep better.and i dont get muscle cramps. i take 1 after dinner.
So glad it works for you!
Simple Inspired Blog has some ideas for the elderly. Also, although Diane in Denmark (UA-cam) is very high energy herself her housekeeping plan is good. A simple morning routine plus a little extra each day.

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of fleas inside my house naturally Thank you
Sorry. That is not something I have experience with. Hope you figure it out. That has to be hard.
Good luck.
I do not like cleaning so I do not no why I'm watching this😡
This made me laugh. I'm not entirely crazy about cleaning either. I mostly tolerate it (sometimes).
