To my ears, it’s way overused as an effect these days. What it ends up doing is killing dynamics which make me feel the music more. The story of a song is partially told through the dynamics of the singer’s performance. This much compression does away with them.
Freshman year of college...this is where this song takes me back to IMMEDIATELY! All my early 2000's high school graduates know what I am talking about! Great song, brings back so many memories!
This song is their "one hit wonder". This band is in my opinion underrated. I admit their lyrics are often childish and the arrangement and production isn't top level in more than a few occasions, but in each album they have at least a couple songs that can be saved. They have nice structure ideas, changing lyrics in the last chorus, even changing the melody to some extent. As a fan I suggest you listen to their albums Every Man for Himself and ForNever (don't mind the name). These are some of their least known albums but they have some hidden jewels there
Crawling In The Dark used to be on a mtn dew commercial or something lol I just remember hearing Hoobastank on a commercial during X or Gravity Games and that’s how I first heard them. I guess most are just going to think of this song though. I thought their first album was solid, simple or not
Hoobastank is a band that pretty much had a couple hits, and has stuck around. Like the movie genre, cult classic. Some of their songs are weird, but I'm sure everyone can find songs they love.
I have to say, this songs speaks to me despite the compression (even if less compression *would* make it better), his voice in smooth as a river, thanks for making me discover them! I have also commented here because i recently watched your old reaction to "Too Many Zooz" and i imediatly thought " oh man, just wait until he hears "Buyo" by "Lucky Chops" They are a completly underrated NYC brass+drum band, and the song Buyo specifically is a masterpiece of Baritone Saxophone solos that others can only dream of, i really suggest you listen to them, you won't regret it
There is only speculation about the band name, but nothing official that says what it means. Kind of an interesting story: the guitarist of Hoobastank is Dan Estrin. There's a prog-synth metal band in Australia called Voyager, and their singer is also named Dan Estrin. The two learned of each other's existence when they got correspondence that was meant for the other Dan Estrin. They have met a few times since then, most recently in Israel before Eurovision, where Voyager entered a song and came in 9th place. I really like the song Voyager put out several months back featuring Sean Harmanis of Make Them Suffer (Aussie metalcore). It's called Ultraviolet. Unfortunately, Aussie Dan Estrin was recently diagnosed with cancer, so the band is on hiatus while he deals with his health.
David Morgan, I think you would like My Immortal by Evanescence. I think it wouldn't be difficult for you at all to play it, and I know you think Amy Lee is a wicked great vocalist.
A lot of singers use auto tune. That isn't the problem here at all. Most of the reason it sounds kind of off is all the compression on the vocals. Compression and Auto tune are two very different things.
@@franciscogomez465 so what that alot of singers are using auto tune? It still kills the imperfections that carries the identity of the individual voices out there. And then there is the the way that you choose to implement auto tune as a tool for mixing. You can either use it to correct obvious f-ck ups, use it for purposeful artistic reasons (Cher), or take the route of this recording, which is to completely flatten everything out instead of living with the imperfections that is the beauty of live performances.
Kalau menurut aku sih g direaksi juga g apa2 ini udah jelas disaring di filter, udah bukan suara asli lagi, tidak kaya putri Ariani, putri udah jelas, suara live putri jelas bening merdu
David's like: What is THE REASON for that much COMPRESSION

Why did this song make me cry when I don't really have emotional attachment to it, must be the nostalgia. ❤
Crawling in the dark - that was my anthem from them
Crawling in the Dark, Pieces, and Running Away. Then The Reason got big and everyone forgot they could rock.
That album 🔥 Takes me back

I would like to recommend 'Le jazz de V" is a short performance by one of the members of the group BTS
You have to react to the new Beatles song!
Please Review Dance Gavin Dance "The Ghost of Billy Royalton" and "War Machine" (released last week)

Hey Shed... react with new autoral song ODISSEIA from Lucas Inutilismo (now Lvcas).
It's a clever pop song but the obvious auto-tune in this specific performance kills it for me.
Yeah.. 😂 it crazy
