It's insane that the frontman wrote it as a warning to his bandmate to not lose himself to drugs or he'd die, and in a few days after the album's release, the frontman, and several others were killed in the plane crash.
This song was written after Gary Rossington wrapped his new car around a tree because he was so strung out on drugs and booze it made Ronnie mad because they was about to start a new tour and they had to postpone it until Gary recovered.
@@shirleybuffington6420 Hate when that happens! lol It is great because it pokes fun at the addicts propensity to never take responsibility, but instead blame everything else.
Gary Rossington wrecking his new car under the influence prompted Ronnie to write the song. Ironically, Gary survived the plane crash and outlived them all dying last year - 2023 - in March and going on to play with the revived Skynyrd, with Ronnie's brother Johnny singing the songs.
Thanks for your reaction to Lynyrd Skynyrd. I highly recommend "Free Bird", "Simple Man", "Call Me The Breeze", "Gimme Three Steps" & "Sweet Home Alabama" 😊✌
Never forget album cam out, no money, gave plasma 10 bucks album was 9.99 we had 2 homeless Vietnam, vets Wille and Earl staying with us, we played that album over and over, and party all nite, you never know when ur having the time of ur life, love ya
It’s a very serious song. I’m going to Jacksonville, FL this Spring and do a tour of the prominent places that chronicles this band. The Oak Tree that Gary wrecked his car into is still there and I have the address. There are three backup singers, known as The Honkettes. Gary was called Prince Charming because he was so pretty, and from a females perspective, he really was and is still handsome.
dude what happened to rememberance Wednesday you hearted my comment when I said to check out the bassist from slipknot Paul gray a really good song too hear is playing is confessions by slipknot its unlike any slipknot u heard before
Great reaction. This brings me back when the album came out then disaster 3 days later. This is the greatest band to ever set foot and play on stage. Since 77 no band has come close simply put they can’t!!!
The cover of that album you're showing is the original cover of the Street Survivors album. The plane crashed October 20th 1977, the album was released October 23rd. The record company freaked out and had to change the cover because the band was surrounded by flames. The album cover predicted the plane crash. It was spooky.

Legendary is the right word for these guys.
F'N Profound lyrics. F'N Rippin' guitars. Skynyrd F'N rules Southern Rock and always will. I'm 62 ands have been a fan since 15.
Lynyrd Skynyrd has the most soulful guitar solo’s, so much twang, so much whining, those guitars are howling to the moon!
Best anti-drug song ever. To get the full impact, you have see the lyrics.

He wrote it in the hospital

For blues/rock you gotta do Allman Brothers, "One Way Out". It's EPIC. ua-cam.com/video/yJ9twEldw_M/v-deo.html
