Really sad to hear about Carlos Pacheco passing away. Sounds like he was as kind as he was talented. Avengers Forever will always be one of my favorite limited series. Tough year losing too many legendary creators. RIP.
@@hamzadawud It's super sad, just got the Maestro World War M trade that had a cover by him, which also made me think of George Perez. And today we hear that Kevin Conroy has passed away, really tough year for losing great people.
@@hamzadawud Pretty much the same for me, I've been gradually rewatching the animated series for the 30th anniversary and just last night was thinking how great he is.
While I’d prefer artwork on the outside, for me at least the beautiful dustjacket makes up for the novel but underwhelming slipcase design. The over the top story and art is worthy of the absolute format but I guess many people will hold off until the omni. Thanks Omar!
I really enjoy a lot of DC's book design. This looks sick. Wasn't a huge fan if the series so I won't be picking it up. But happy to see DC putting out new Absolutes!
What caught my eye in the beginning of the video was the Uncanny Omar sign/nameplate?, was right in front of the Captain Marvel omni so all I saw was Captain Omar! This was an interesting story. I'm going to wait for the omnibus so I get the full story.
I loved Metal, though I'm definitely just going to wait for the Omnibus. Even without knowing what happened before, besides some weird baby darkseid....which.....yeah never understood that one, it was pretty understandable as a jump-in event. I hadn't read comics in a while till I read this, and it brought me back in. Loved catching up on Rebirth afterwords, and everything else... But then Death Metal happened, and I fell off comics again. 😅 Honestly, the fact Metal had a 'road to' hc, but Death Metal did not is the biggest confusing thing to me, because buying the deluxe edition of Death Metal, opening it, and not knowing wtf is happening was the biggest whiplash I'd felt in comics..let alone how messy the event was. Ended up reading Snyder's Justice League to just TRY and understand the setup, cause I heard it was good, but didn't like it much at all either, only to then read a messy event who's best comics, to me, were the single-issue tie-ins, like for Superboy Prime... Still hold Rebirth and Metal in high regard, but for now, I'm just going to collect the older stuff instead... current releases/characterizations/storylines just..don't do it for me atm.
Not so keen on this one. Too many important strands are missing and it's a small page count for an Absolute edition. I will definitely wait for the Omnibus version.
Hey, I'm relatively new to Batman graphic novels and wanted to get into some of the alternate universe storylines so I was hoping you could help me out. I was just gifted Dark Knights: Metal and The Batman Who Laughs graphic novels. Would the story make sense if I read those back to back? Or would I need to read anything else to connect the two novels. Thanks!
Am I the only one that had multiple pages stuck together with glue, and then the color from the opposite page stick to the other one when pulled apart? It’s extremely frustrating
Hi Omar how are you Doing, I wanted know if Greg Horn is a Great Artist, I Know he does Harley Quinn, Did he do anything With Dark Night Metal with Harley.
Love this event. Just wish the final battle between the dark Batmen was shown more. Kinda abrupt. Plus this event has one of my favourite recent moments. The team up of Batman and Joker. Capullo sure does know how to display a fluid and effective movement during the battle of man who laughs.
Great review. Anything shiny I'm there like a magpie. Shiny shiny ha ha.😋😂 Although I have decided to stick with my OHC for the main events and standard hardcover/trade for the tie ins.👍
I love your review of Absolute Dark metal. I thought it was good and you explains in some detail what story is about with out not giving to much away. You also mentioned the prequel to the books I have to see if I can get them. I don't think I will go and get the Absolute Dark Knight Metal or Dark Knight Death Metal books. But I will go and get the two omnibus . I know that there might not put everything in the books but I hoping that DC comics can bridge the gap between the two omnibus With Year Of The Villain, The Infected, Scott Snyder Justice League story and the battle between Lex Luthor and the Bat Man Who Laughs . There is whole lot more to these stories and you got Dark Multiverse one shot story as well . It's going to be one heavy Read 🦸♂️😀
I'm getting the omni once it drops. 🤔 you know technically it's a kind of Metal trilogy Dark nights metal, Year of the Villian, Then Death Metal if they do that and have the spines match like they did No mans land that would be awesome. 😁 do it DC you promised us a year of the villian omni bring it back.
Hi guys, I'm halfway through DNM trade paperback, but I still don't get who is the character they're not supposed to use unless they have special permissions as Omar says :'p
@@GrimKnight12 I'm probably going to get it, after watching Omar's thoughts on it, because it seems like it's a direct follow up to Snyder's batman and John's Justice league
My first impression of that design isn't favourable, it looks lazy and without much thought. That includes the dust jacket as well. It's almost like DC's lack of editors across it's comics line has spread to it's limited selection of on-going collected editions.
I'd say he's only good when Snyder writes him. When his creator writes him, he remains the parody of the bat-god issue that he is, ego driven, pessimism-incarnate, and easily defeated by just surprising him with working together with those he wouldn't expect to put their differences aside. When written by anybody else, he tends to BE the bat-god he's supposed to be a parody of. Which, ironically, makes him a boring trump-card, who can get out of everything, outsmart everyone, outdo everyone until the plot says it's time for him to lose. And, since he's in way more comics than Snyder's, I think sadly the bad version tends to get written more than the good one.. Atleast, imo. 😌But that's just my take.
@@NearMintCondition Ah, sorry. What I mean is when I have in past read stories like this and found myself confused I'll Google characters and stories to fill in the gaps. I don't mind the spoilers especially since I'm never certain when I'll get around to a book next.

Yeah, and from ALS of all things. He just announced the diagnosis about two months ago, and now he's already gone. Terrible.

I’m pumped for the omnibus but man this book is gorgeous!!
I see the ultimate Spider-Man omnibus vol 2 in the self can’t wait for the review
All Star Batman is such an underrated Batman run from Scott Snyder. That run is also the run that got me into reading comics.
Lol the creative teams' names have Heavy Metal song names in there. 😀 At least, I recognized "Rainbow in the Dark". 😀
Oh man this absolute looks amazing! But ugh..I also wanna wait for the Omni! 😱
Reminds me of college when I came across an interesting class in the course catalogue, only to find out I haven’t taken any of the prerequisites 😂
Ha!
This would be the book I’d get for my mom. She collects and this would’ve been a great Christmas gift.

I thought this event rocked! But I think Omar turned me more into a fan of Doomsday Clock.
No Dark Days? Damn Fools!
I’ll wait for the Omni hopefully it comes out
I just dont know if I can justify this one
A shame they used the same image on the dust jacket and the actual cover with both the same image on each side. Gives it a cheap look.
So the new dark night metal omnibus is better than this ? What’s the difference?
I definitely always read it as Bar-BAT-tos 🤣

It has the origin in a narrative way. Not the one shots.

:) sandman. Always has to be approved by Gaiman. Even if it’s Daniel. So whenever any of the Endless appear in any story, makes me happy.

The Batman Who Laughs might just be the worst character ever. With possible the worst word balloon design as well.
