It's more like you go into a bar and find out that they make beer, wine and spirits by starting with pure grain alcohol and then diluting it and flavoring it with various synthetic substances to make it taste like beer or wine or vodka.

as someone who frequently experiences strong anxiety and paranoia from even relatively low doses of cannabis this is something i would love to see become available in my home country of the UK, prohibition only drives growers and suppliers to create high potency products for recreational users and not focus on medical needs of the majority

I know all too well what that's like, and it's definitely a big deterrent in being able to use cannabis at the level of liberation anyone deserves, whether for enjoyment or medicinal benefit. It's possible to overcome the paranoia but I believe you have to be very much tuned into your own emotions, behaviours, thought patterns etc. in order to modulate how your mind and body react while under the effects.
A big part of it will inevitably come down to circumstance, too, which is significantly more difficult to change. In listening to some of Joe Rogan's conversations with experts on ethnopharmacology and the war against drugs, it seems that some of the negative effects stated of cannabis have lended themselves to becoming self-fulfilling prophecies: word gets out that cannabis causes anxiety and paranoia, so users have an expectation this will probably happen without fully understanding why. With the fears surrounding an illegal market, the social stigma, and the obvious repercussions for getting caught ON TOP OF those erroneous expectations, such anxiety and paranoia becomes actualised not because of the substance itself, but because of the implications of using it.
If people were free to alter their states of consciousness without morality and criminality being called into question, the experience may well be more enjoyable by virtue of that freedom and peace of mind alone.

I use to smoke weed religiously in high school, I got into some trouble and once I got paroled from prison I tried to go back to smoking but I got way to sick from it. I don’t smoke weed now because I get way to high/ nauseous/ ect. I think these are great points these people made, I would try it if it wasn’t for my job.
It prevents nausea. You held your hit and had a gas bubble and felt sick.
@@brentcraft4340 while weed can help ease nausea, smoke is a natural diarrhetic + plus some people with vertigo can experience nausea from weed. I doubt it was because of actually smoking incorrectly
I was a kid of the 1970s and 1980s. We got high every morning before school and immediately after school. But we never got into any more trouble than getting demerits for dress code violations and occasionally we'd get an in school suspension if we got caught sneaking a cigarette in the English hall men's room after lunch.
It was our culture. When the county police came to our school's health fair with their say no to drugs table, we could name the people the cops had taken the paraphernalia from. I recognized the gas mask bong they had on display from a kid down the street from me who went to the public school. I asked the cops if they got it from that neighborhood and he laughed and said they busted the kid I was thinking of.
In my school the kids who got high were the national merit scholars, the smart kids who weren't jocks. Come to think of it, by graduation, I think I had even gotten high with most of the jocks.
I think the weed we were getting would be considered working bud, or mid grade at best. But that was before they started going crazy breeding almost pure, highly potent thc beasts.
No, it actually is possibly to smoke yourself sick.. I've seen people who we used to call "lightweights" take one too many bong hit and within a minute they can't stop vomiting .

There is a company called Truflora that makes these pre-rolls that have CBD and a small amount of THC oh my God they're so good have one in the morning with some coffee or some matcha green tea and you will be in heaven that euphoric and vibrant feeling without feeling stuck to the couch

Years ago I would wake up, put on a pot of coffee, go upstairs for my "morning constitutional" and have a single bong rip. It was pretty high grade stuff, though.
Then I would go downstairs, make my coffe, and take an l-theanine capsule before enjoying my coffee while checking email or reading the news.
By the second cup I would feel completely relaxed, completely tension free.
I think green tea has l-theanine, but I know coffee doesnt. It somehow works nicely with caffeine to keep away jitters while stimulating your brain.
You kids buying these overpriced pre rolls nowadays are killing us old stoners with laughter. just mix a little fire in with your favorite CBD flower. done. Oh, and roll it up yourself you big queens.

this is for me 100%. 1-5 mg every couple hours is my magic zone, keeps away the heebie jeebies and the skibidi doos from spookin my cortex, and optimizes my brain gain while minimizing brain drain
I'm really excited to see stuff like the Drew Martin pre-rolls. I miss the days of just kicking back and being able to enjoy the experience of relaxing and smoking an entire joint start to finish. With THC pushing the upper limits, it's hard to get that type of relaxed, and easy-going experience now days.
I had those mini joints when I went to LA. The sales person called them dog walkers. It was perfect for me since I'm so sensitive to THC. I enjoy the ritual of smoking, but really don't like being high.

The bud when I was in high school calmed my nerves, invigorated me and produced euphoria. The bud now makes me anxious, paranoid and lazy.
You might want to look at different strains that don't give you that feeling or just take one hit and go do something.

I relate 100%. I used to love weed in highschool. I would feel great and laugh. Now it makes me anxious and feel like crap.
Before watching this, every cannabis connoisseur I've met has eventually switched to growing low thc cannabis. This trend really started with growers looking for Landrace, which is usually far less potent as it's not bred or cultivated. It grows wild. Strain Hunters did this. Low potency cannabis has the same terpenes and effects as high potency except it won't leave you stuck on a couch with poor depth perception and bad short term memory. The more powerful cannabis becomes the more likely to be abused it is.

I grew in a two closet setup in my basement for about four years. It was mostly experimental and to learn more about something I've smoked daily for most of my life.
I never knew what the level of THC was in any of the flower I grew, but I'm sure my inexperience and rather unprofessional practices severely limited the potential of the strains I grew. I got pretty good, though. I had sparkly flowers caked in trichomes most of the time, and pretty dense flowers because I knew how to keep my 400 watt high pressure sodium bulb really close to the tops of my plants even when I had several different height plants under it.
I can say from experience that all the bud I grew smoked cleaner, tasted better and gave me far more enjoyable experiences than anything I've ever bought.
If a plant got hit by bugs or fungus, then trichome production would stop. If any single flower on a plant turned hermaphrodite, and then any other flower gets pollinated as a result, then trichome production stopped. If trichome production stopped, THC production stopped.
But even on my worst grows, I still enjoyed the smoke and the high way more than any I had ever bought.
I’m nearly 50 and I grow “land race” strains like Afghan Kush and Durban Poison because they are 100% Sativa or Indica. I don’t enjoy the hybrid strains because I like to choose whether to be up or couch locked, not falling somewhere in the middle. The exception is lately I’ve been growing autoflowers which are hybrids of course, but I find the potency doesn’t lack and the turn around time is much faster. As far as land race not being as potent as other strains, that may well be because I have no way of testing, but it’s my opinion that one can only get so high. If it takes 2 hits instead of 1 to “get there”, who cares? Especially if you’re growing your own and don’t have a supply issue.
@@PhilLesh69 Absolutely. My buds aren’t as dense or pretty as dispensary bud. I grow outside so once in a while I’m pulling a bug out of my grinder or stripping a long stem or flicking a seed into the trash, but I definitely like my weed better. I’d challenge any THC % nerd to smoke my stuff and not get high.
@@jimmyglea I grew in those 10 gallon felt bags using an organic mix of manure, coco coir and builder's sand as the base "soilless mix," then adding things like green sand, chicken poop, bone meal, bat guano, and I even made my own potassium, calcium and phosphorous rich additives by baking egg shells, chicken and beef bones and banana peels on low in the oven for a few hours and then pulverizing them into powders in a coffee grinder.
Adding pulverized banana peel really makes the buds sparkle, and I swear the buds smelled like bananas.
With "home grown" you can make sure to give the plant(s) a proper flush to get rid of all the fertilizer salts built up in the plant. I would water with plain water for at least 3 days, but optimally a week or two before harvesting. Commercial bud makes me cough my lung up. Homegrown doesn't. The grey and white flaky ash left over after you smoke commercial bud shows that they don't take the time to flush their crops. I also believe my glass bong builds up tar and resin way faster with commercial bud.
Entourage effect is intact within low dosages as well.
Eleven cups of coffee doesn't make your life better than two cups. Same logic here.
It can make it worse though. 11 cups of coffee will overwhelm your adrenaline glands and tire you out quickly. Not to mention the diuretic effect of coffee.
Everything in moderation is the way to go. It would be great to have an option to choose your dosage.
Today's weed is like having 6 glasses of wine when some just want 1 glass.
There's also the weed hangover effect from strong weed strains which is terrible.

I think that this is a really positive step forward. I smoked hash almost every day for 40 years (easy to obtain in the UK if you knew where to look) but had to stop for medical reasons. I liked hash because it got me pleasantly high but left me still able to function. Never got on with skunk because it got me unpleasantly wasted and unable to get on with daily tasks no matter how small the dose and also, I hated the smell anyway. I would love to be able to purchase weed that has a moderate THC and high CBD content similar to everyday Indian and Moroccan hash. Sadly, impossible to find this in the UK at the moment because the growers produce a monoculture of super strength skunk and nothing else.

@@JazzyB9481 A strain of high THC Cannabis with a distinctive smell that some people like but others don't. It's pretty much the only generic type of weed that you can buy from dealers in the UK these days.
@@mdog111you seem a little outdated on uk weed, it absolutely is not the only strain you can get here. it's just that nowadays skunk is a generic name that people who know little about weed call ALL weed (regardless of what strain it is)
there are actually hundreds/thousands of strains in the uk not just 1 called skunk...people not in the know just refer to it all as skunk.
there are however skunk strains (skunk no 1 for example) but there loads & loads of other strains that are not "skunk"
oh & sometimes the media try to fear monger & report on this mythical "super strength skunk" strain 😅
@@mdog111 I agree though, the hash which was so prevalent in the 90's was a much nicer gouch-eir high than all of the strong weed strains around today...& it used to be virtually all that you could get your hands on whereas now, it does pop up very occasionally but nowhere near as much as the flower that's everywhere.

Thank you for this, I have been smoking for years and every time the dispensary recommends something they will be like "25% THC" and I'm like, I'll take anything but that. I'm always looking for something in the 12-15% range.
I'm in SoCal, dispensaries everywhere but finally had to start growing my own 1:1 low THC because the shops won't sell it or they give it a premium price tag.

The amount of packaging waste in the cannabis industry needs to be talked about more often.
They should be using glass like soda did decades ago and reuse the containers I agree. Plus, are you folks looking at what is stuck to the inside of a baggie or plastic jar when it is empty? A quick rinse with some Everclear and a glass container comes clean; pour it onto a glass baking pan let it flash and scrape up the glands. Enjoy!!

And I've been so blasted with high THC content weed of recent years that I may as well have been tripping, and not in a good way. Exrtremely unpleasent.
I've recently found out about the legal sale of Delta 8 & 9 products with metered THC content, and am once again able to enjoy getting my buzz on without blowing my lid off. Quite pleased.

I’m really disappointed because I’ve been waiting all of my life, wishing and dreaming that one day cannabis would become legal, and now that it is legal in most places, i still can’t smoke because job tests for it aggressively every month. I think that’s straight up bullshit. 😢😢😢
Get a different job, companies are desperate for qualified candidates in so many fields. It sounds like your field is probably a safety sensitive one though, which I am assuming is why they test you so much.

I do use under 0.1g of bud daily , it’s doesen’t getting me high but help a lot with my anxiety , in high doses my anxiety gets even worse . So if u want the medicinal effects u should start with super low doses and increase accordingly to how u feeling it

I used to chase THC levels, like give me that black dog at 33% but have recently started smoking 17% to 23% and OMG shit gets me higher. Terpenes are a huge part of the high and if your bud is high THC it has low terps

The taste doesn't matter as much as the effects usually stronger stuff has a better taste anyways
@@frankc4364 that is where you are wrong, so read up on terpenes and there effects and how they greatly amplify the affects of THC. Now read up about how the more THC a plant has then the less terpenes it has. so higher THC bud does not have a better taste. A THC level of 19% with some good terps will get you far higher then some 30% with low to no terps. is wild but this is an actual thing, science is cool

@@frankc4364 go read about terps, they get you higher. I used to think like you and chased those high THC levels. But then I was turned on to buying my weed based on terps and how much and less about THC and I get sooo mush higher and I have been straight smoking for 30+ years now
I used to LOVE low-THC strains/products back when I used to use them daily. Sometimes I wanted to enjoy a joint or get the other benefits/effects from cannabinoids but didn’t want to get super stoned (never did build the kind of tolerance required to function in that shape, even after YEARS of use). We used to get a strain called Harlequin that was just delightful. You could easily smoke enough to get good and roasted, but you could also enjoy a .5-gram joint straight to the head with low tolerance and continue to do whatever all day/night. I wish it were still more of a ‘thing’ here in the States, it’s tough to find those strains/products outside of California without growing/making them yourself. Sooner or later, I’ll be able to get away with it again (have to be clean for my job until our state goes medical), and I will most assuredly grow plenty for myself.
It's really hard to watch this as a black man with a charge for Marijuana possession knowing that my people are locked out of being hands on in this industry and most of us make up the people in jail locked up for this!

Not convenient or legal in most of the country. Some of us live in states that don’t listen all that well to the voters. I’m Conservative and think we should flush the marijuana laws already. Should’ve learned that lesson with prohibition, tell us not to and suddenly it’s all we want.
Interesting article; I grow a bit here in Oz and process the weed into canna-butter for edibles. Recently I processed some dried leaf/stem and made butter, the resulting biscuits gave a quite mild , calming high , less kick than the regular weed. I certainly see a place for low-dose weed and a good way not to waste any of the plant as well.
That's essentially the Indian preparation called bhaang. Its a paste of the leaves and stems of the female cannabis plant that is usually mixed with thandai (kinda like a summer smoothie)
See, this is what the legalization of cannabis does. It provides different legal options that would work for all types of consumers. You'll have specialists guide you with weed use compared to when it was illegal and people would end up buying it illegally, unsure if they're getting a bud that works for them or if it's too potent.
Sometimes getting stoned to the moon with some friends is really nice but for a relaxing evening this is exactly what you need
I suffer from depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping and occasional migraines. I microdose 2.5mg daily and it helps tremendously with all of the above. I keep higher thc flower for when a migraine happens.
Just one 2.5mg dose per day, or several 2.5mg doses throughout the day?
To me, single hitters are the way to go, bats, ones that look like cigarette tubes. Keeps tolerance low, and makes your stash last.

I like the idea of ultra-low thc cannabis joints replacing cigarettes, as far as I know most legal States allow the consumption of low-thc cannabis in public anyway so it should catch on more
Cbd will never replace nicotine as it has no kick. Cbd relaxes, nicotine is a stimulant. They are completely opposed to one another.

Thats true but sometimes you just want to smoke a whole joint … its the process of chilling and smoking like cigs… back in the day we had mid that you could smoke and maintain a pleasant buzz whenever you wanted.

For instance even consuming trim like fan leaves or tips in various methods like smoking or edibles as a great starter course and then once a custom with progressing onto flower with low thc before increasing thc levels as you become more in tune with consumption tech and tolerance levels as well as exploring other forms of consumption like extracts with greater gained experience and confidence until finding that sweet spot or level where really true appreciation can be achieved when less is more in dosage can indeed be one of the most rewarding accomplishments with Cannabis.
There isn't any THC in the fan leaves. They'd be very harsh to smoke! However, sugar leaves would be good for edibles. Don't want to smoke leaves! IMO, it'd be better to just mix CBD flower with THC flower.
If you mean the larger lower fan leans from the main stem and first or second nodes, then yeah, they do not have THC because they stopped growing before any THC production has begun. That's why the sugar leaves do have THC. The difference is between leaves that grow during vegetation stage, preflower, and leaves that grow after the plant enters the flowering stage.
Anything that has a trichome growing on it has at least a tiny trace of THC.

I personally want to see nation wide legalization of marijuana, and some form of quality control so that you can get low THC if that’s what you want. I would love for it to reach the levels that tobacco has already reached in availability and variety. I think a LOT of people could benefit from making it legal to deal with emotional issues as well as physical painful issues as well.
I live in a D9 legal state and still prefer Quality CBD.

I prefer low dose, 1:1 or 2:1 CBD to THC ratios. It's harder to find than I thought would be now that adult use legal sales have started. Even with 17 dispensaries having shops open to the public. Many of them discontinued low dose and high CBD strains when their shops opened to the public because everyone is so used to high dose, high THC, no CBD street weed pot crack that the dispensaries are cashing in for maximum profit and ignoring what other customers want. Probably to the detriment of medical patients as well. Sad.
Low dose cannabis is common sense, if you need to get baked as shit every day by smoking ten joins you need to rethink and restructure your life because something must be wrong.

With high THC, when my tolerance is low, it's hard to control how high you get. Sometimes the difference between one hit and two is huge. With low to medium strength you can get right where you want.

@@someguy5438 Actually, that's not entirely correct. You can certainly grow a specific genetic line that is 20:1 CBD and have it be designer level in terms of terpenes and bud development. The only thing that will be lacking is the trichome development. Some very amazing breeders such as SinCity Seeds sell high CBD designer level strains. However... if you're buying it from a place that sells A LOT then they likely don't care enough to grow great genetics.

Low dose THC is where it's at. I used to smoke a LARGE amount of weed as a teen and at constant high dosages of THC etc it had a lot of negative effects. There are times we would literally smoke weed all day.
I think THC is very benificial in so many ways. Alcohol is substantially worse and so ingrained into our culture. Also, my caffine (that I love) is also a drug and can actually lead to a fatal over dose. And look how common caffine consumption is. I hope cannabis will get there some day.

47 yo now, in my 20,s smoking half an ounce of hashish a week was common for me. I stopped because the UK market became flooded with way over powered home grown flower. I don’t like the taste, it’s acrid stink and the hit was always way too psychoactive, short lived and the stash didn’t last long. I just wanted good old mellow sweet smelling Moroccan or Lebanese hashish. I think the Canabis market (seed in my case) is really missing out on the huge amount of people that just want a chilled out smoke, not a reality shattering pseudo religious experience.

The beauty of high powered modern cannabis is that you dont have to smoke as much to get the same effects. Instead of a joint I can just hit a tiny bowl of a water pipe and be good to go for the next several hours. Just don't smoke as much
I find this terribly interesting cuz I buy CBD but from my smoke shop. Legal in Florida I believe it can't be more than 3% THC and I enjoy it I do not like to get bombed out of my skull, just more to relax in the evening and help me fall asleep. CBD is the way to go, especially reaching the mainstream consumer

I've personally used low dose for years, but very very low. For example the 'baby joint' would be a huge dose for me, I would probably use 1/6 of that (but of regular cannabis you buy of the street) The days of smoking huge quantity are (sadly) over for me as I start to get too anxious. A low dose is perfect for me to go out without being paranoid. I can go with 5g for at least 4-6 month, and that's smoking every single day, that's how small the dose is lol
So one of the biggest complaints I have with the industry is the amount of packaging waste..for example, yeah the low dose single joints are cool...does it really need the massive box about it?
We really need high grade CBD strains on the market in all the legal states, a good 20/1 flower fully developed rather than harvested early to keep it within the federal "hemp" guidelines would be wonderful.
A lot of the older generation new to the marijuana world usually lean towards low thc or even edibles because they can't handle the smoke

My first time edibles was 100mg (0 tolerance). It was a bit too strong for my taste (psychedelic etc.) so now my dose is 50mg per brownie. If I wanna get super high I eat one and a half, otherwise 50 is perfect

I like this option. I grew in San Diego in the early 8o’s. The only grass we’d be able to get was Mexican brick weed. As the legal medical grade came out I found that the higher grade grass made
Me VERY paranoid and in some cases gave me a LSD effect, I found it unpleasant and un enjoyable. So to have the option of a lower potency and have the benefits of pain relief and sleep is great for an old timer like me
