I gotta say I’m not a fan of painted wood , however I do like the use of this particular application 🙂 Thank you for sharing your ability and craftsmanship on yet another intriguing wood turning project 👍
This is a beautiful vase!! I loved how you applied the paint to the vase while it was still turning. You have an incredible talent! Video was wonderful, just an artist with his tools! Bravo Sir!!
Sir, Your creativity knows no bounds. I am beginning to think that with nothing more than your lathe you could solve world peace, end hunger, and start a space program, if only you had the time.
@@JackMackWoodturning You got that right. Living here in Florida I am right in between some groups that do not understand each other at all, and do not seem like they want too.
Beautiful vase, I wouldn’t adulterate the wood with all that paint though, you may as well use glass or plastic as the natural grain is totally covered. But each to his own I guess, thanks for sharing!
There are many woods which are important to save the grain but, as an amateur woodturner, willow if far down the scale. This has turned out to be a superb project.
Brilliant at first I was like what's he doing with spray paint but the droplets look amazing. Don't know why I'd ever think to question your vision you are in a league of your own thanks for letting me watch the process.
@@JackMackWoodturning ...generally, I'm a fan of wood grain...but I understand you wanted to hide the glue lines...and let's face it, the willow grain is fairly unremarkable without some other technique to enhance it... But, to answer your question, yes...I like paint...and especially the technique you used to produce it...I like the way you think and your approach to different projects...👍
Великолепная работа! Мне очень нравится, когда человек получает удовольствие от работы. Когда я смотрел самое начало ролика, то подумал, что таким образом можно делать спагетти.
I know this is an old video but a trick us furniture restorers do in order to get two lines to look like none is take small amounts of wood glue put it on the line and immediately sand it. The wood glue and sawdust fill in any gaps. You can’t tell that it was ever cut. Love your videos!

The fish! That’s a 2” drive. It’s as big as they come. My lathe Max’s out at 20”x 50” So that gives you some idea how big this is. I’m on the hut for a log that will fully max her out so watch this space. Appreciate you watching 😊👍🏻
I completely understand you saying that. It looks like it shouldn’t work. 🤣 Its also much safer in this application that other holding methods. I appreciate you watching 😊👍🏻
Thanks matey. There are so many techniques to hollow long and deep vessels.. il show a few more on much less punky wood next time. Thanks for watching. 😊👍🏻
I just started about 6 Mo ago. I'm 80 miles from the nearest road in Alaska and have thousands of Birch, Spruce and some Cottonwood trees. I mostly use Birch crotch and Burls. I have a small 12" Delta that a friend sold me but now I'm looking for something substantial. I don't want to buy Chinese so that pretty much limits me to Oneway and Robust but they are so expensive I'm on the fence.
Very impressive! The color finish is surprising. This gives some new insights into how to hollow out a large piece of wood. Too bad you still had to use your carving mallet for this one😁. You see, you can never have enough mallets.😛 👍Frank.
Loving your new shorts channel !!
Thanks mate.. it’s not got many subscribers yet but it’s getting a lot of positive feedback. Hopefully people enjoy it. I think it’s cool 😆

Interesting how willow makes fairly flat strips when you turn it. A lot of hardwoods make curls and spirals. Great work as always.
