I remember, it was september 2020, I was in my first year of Highschool.. when I found this incredible drawing of a black dragon with reddish crystals on it. It inspired me to create a brand new character for my original story ! The first son of the golden king was born. Nowadays, this character looks nothing like the drawing that inspired me. But it is just so crazy that more than 4 years later, I will be recommended a 6 years old video of someone creating out of fine air that exact same dragon. Thank you so much for this piece of art, it made my evening just that little more special
Hey Remarin, I was wondering about something. Will you make a shop in the future? I really want some art of yours, but not of my own ocs, maybe something like your personal artworks, where it’s just “random” paintings/drawings? I know you have commissions, but I feel like shops is different :p And awesome work btw
you mean like selling prints of artwork already created, or a place where people can get like "customized" artwork? I have a society6 society6.com/remarin where you can buy a couple of prints but I havent updated it in a while x: after all, I only get a small percentage of each sale, so its not actually a major source of income at the moment
Wow this art is stunning I love it! I'm a huge artist my self but I can't do that art now that's what I call art pieces! Keep it up I would love to see more!
Its artists like you that just inspire the crap out of me and push me to get better at art so thank you :3 by chance how long have you been doing art if I may ask? :o
Ahhh my favorite type of drawing just my style I love it! And your art is amazing I seem to have the same drawing style as me all though I don’t do online drawing well trying to figure it out again this is a amazing and your other vids!

Thanks! For my lineart I use the third one from this pack: www.deviantart.com/pixelstains/art/3-Pencil-Brushes-for-Photoshop-520322091 I haven't used a proper "inking" brush in ages, last time I tried it was a total mess :'> The "softness" of the pencil-like texture is very good at making sketched-lines look cleaner than they actually are. With a hard-round inking brush my current linework would look totally scratchy (though it probably is just a thing of not being used to it anymore)
Wow. Can people apply for commissions, or buy them, or what? You have amazing work and I have one OC that I want you to draw. Your work is absolutely fabulous.
I'm currently closed for commissions, I use a list system to accept and work through new orders :> I've been getting some asks about commissions here on youtube, but until now I've primarily worked via deviantart so I didn't think of a system for youtube commissions yet. Once I re-open I could make an announcement for commission-opening via a normal speedpaint video here on youtube as well (just as a mention in the title/description with a link to a deviantart post for commission details) It would then probably work like this: you comment "I want to commission you" under that video, I let you know whether there's room on the list, and possibly tell you "send me an email", and from there on the info exchange can commence.
The first one was roughly 1 hour, the second on was 2 hours 30 min :> The first is a bit rougher drawn, less cleaned up, less detailed - there is also a price difference between the two. I like giving commissioners art options on a spectrum at different price ranges for different quality-levels!
Before i say anything, absolutely stunning! im shook, I just wanted to ask if you would ever do a video explaining how you do things and in a rough order? I know talking is scary (hence why i stay inside XD) but i would love to know and one more thing is when you sketch in your sketch book would you ever record yourself sketching in that because brain spews can be super interesting to watch. ANYWAY i love your work i love watching your channel grow!
I would love to record myself drawing in a sketchbook at some point, but I have absolutely no idea how to improvise a set-up for the filming of it :'0 It's not like I can just hold my phone with one hand while drawing - knowing that I have a tendency to get shaky hands. I once tried just stacking up books next to me, and set my phone on the top of the pile with the camera-bit hangin out, but as soon as I would try using my eraser, the whole thing would shake. Thus that's still a work in progress :'3 And yeah, I hope to do more voice-over videos, but at the moment I'm trying to figure out how to stop myself from rambling halfway through. I want it to be a quick and easy process, without the video ending up being 30 minutes long. Lots of things to still figure out >:0
Hey do you have any tips on how to draw open mouth dragons? My main art category is dragons but I struggle heavily on drawing them with an opened mouth
Ryu late reply, but I’d recommend using references like alligators and komodo dragons and tracing over them. That’s what I did and it helped a little :D
I go big: 4000 x4000 pixels at 300 resolution,, if you someday wanna do regular prints of your artwork, you could go even bigger. But at the very least, I like being able to zoom in and paint hair thin highlight in the eyes, which is only possible if you have a big enough canvas. Like you can't draw the shadow of eyelashes if you're on a canvas of 500x500 and your 5 px brush already is looking a bit fat
Remarin Ah yes, thanks. I usually go around 2000 but after I'm done sketching I crop to whatever I think looks good. But sure it makes sense you'd be able to make more details on a bigger canvas.
I use the selection tool called "magic wand", for it to work, your lineart/sketch needs to have a "closed" outline - meaning there can't be any gaps between the lines that would define your character's "silhouette". I select the area outside"of the lineart, I invert the selection so that only the silhouette of the motif is selected - and now I "shrink" the selection quite a bit. That last step might not be necessary depending on the program, but for me, the selection is usually not perfectly fitted to the lineart, so if I were to bucket-fill a color in that selection, there would be a small outline of color outside of the lineart still, which would take unnecessary amount of time to clean up.
Well I'm not sure there would be much to see, I rarely have a saved version of all the separated layers when I'm all done. When I finish I either have just the latest save ( and since I try to save regularly it would usually be after I've merged the whole thing already to 1 layer to make color adjustments) or I just have an extra save of the character and background separated (in case the commissioner wants a version with transparent background) I don't like to clutter my computer with unnecessary separate save-files, but I'm planning to someday go through my process with explanations; I'd guess that that would be more insightful than a pdf showing the character and the background in separate layers. Though if I ever post pdfs of artwork, it probably wouldn't be of commissioned pieces ;3 since I don't own the characters featured in commissions, it would be a bit disrespectful toward the paying commissioner to just do whatever I want with the artwork without asking them for permission.
I do have a society6 where I could get a couple of prints: society6.com/remarin/s?q=popular+prints but I don't keep it very updated since I get like 1-2 bucks for every sale owo if anyone asked me to put up a specific original piece up there, I'd do it of course. You can also get some prints off of deviantart as well www.deviantart.com/remarin/prints/
Heyy!! Do you know the name of the last song you used, or at least have a link to it? You credited the first 3, but the last one after those isn't there and I'm having a bit of trouble finding it, so I thought id ask! ty in advance ^^
It's been a while since I put this video together, but it seems I didn't credit that last song because it was a snippet of a not-uploaded track I made myself at the time! :0 I dabbled a bit in Garageband, and I mainly just liked the end bit of that track so I hadn't uploaded it with the other ones I made.
