Oh my, you had me worried for a minute Ed… thought you weee going to leave out the Zoom Fly 6 😱 but you did it proper justice with that number 3 ranking. Truly an exceptional plated trainer. Bravo Nike for redeeming your brand in the training space and bravo Ed for a fantastic top 10!! 🎉🎉🎉
Good stuff Edd. Can’t completely recall your opinion on the Skyward X but that’s the obvious omission here for me. Despite the bulk, the most comfortable shoe anyone has made this year. You often talk about shear enjoyment and for me that’s the most fun ride of the year, even on days when you just can’t be bothered!
Just picked up the ZF 6 on Nike's site for $127.00US. A Christmas bargain for sure! AF is always at or near the top for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the Rebellion Flash 2 this year. Got it for $110US and it was my shoe of the year for sure.
Appreciate for the review of the Hoka Mach 6. As a fan of the Endorphin Speed 3, I loved the ride of the Mach. It's the FOD Runner's Shoe of the Year for 2024
Thank you for the completely entertaining and informative review EddBud. The ASICS Superblast 2 knocked the socks off my 75 year old a**. In fact I got two pair and tossed one of them into my suitcase for runs during business travel and vacations out of town. That suitcase pair took the place of the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4s but the Superblast is more versatile in my opinion. I still love putting miles on those Sauconys so I would say 2024 was a great year for great running shoes. Let's keep going in 2025!
Thank you for all the great content this year Ed and have a fantastic Christmas 😊 My top 5 this year would be: 1. Alphafly 3 2. ASICS Superblast 2 3. Endorphin Speed 4 4. Brooks Glycerin Max 5. Adidas SL2
Totally agree with alphafly 3 if I could afford to buy a second pair I would But at the moment I only use them for the occasional races saveimg them for my first marathon in Brighton next year . I still use alphafly v1 for my long runs as I got them at a huge discount on them and I still have two new pairs ready to go. Last pair lasted almost 800k I’m the opposite of you when it come to ff blast turbo or turbo + that foam just doesn’t work for me in anyway. I don’t find it very cushioned despite the stack hight and there’s no sink or bounce to the foam and I find the foam to firm to engage the plate in the metaspeed sky Paris On the other hand I absolutely love the deviate nitro elite 3 for me that’s the shoe of the year , just ahead of alphafly 3 (love that shoe 2) . the foam in the puma shoes really works for me it’s great and super energetic
I just picked myself a new pair of Puma DNE 3 because I rate that shoe and it will be my marathon shoe next year. It's light, midsole is responsive and very comfortable. It is deceptively fast. I was surprised I got my 5k PB in this shoe this year. Also picked up a new SB2 but went half a size down and was able to use a 10% voucher. I think your sizing advice here is on point. Nike Zoom Fly 6 is one I will get next year. I didn't like the AF3 as much as others. I actually prefer the VF3. Also love the Asics MS Sky Paris. I've spent way too much $ this year on shoes. Even on discounts it's still too much.
@EDDBUD There seem to be two competing factories mass producing them as there are two different counterfeit literally outnumbering authentic AF3's. Both look extremely close to the original with box and bag. The only things that give it away is the side view of the rubber under the air unit and with the second counterfeit the underside area of the air unit. And less creasing in the foam. They have an EVA midsole. They weigh roughly 100 grams more then the original and have a plastic plate instead of carbon. Other then that they look identical.
Great top ten. I know the Superblast can be hard to get hold of but the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 is nowhere to be found. I was a bit late to the Puma party.
I listened to your advice and got the Super Blast 2 yesterday. They really bounce, did a 4 mile run this morning & love them. I did notice a blister on my big toe. Is that normal with this shoe while breaking in and will resolve with time?
Thanks Ed. I have only two of those shoes on your list and have tried only two others. This year I did not buy too many shoes because I still had many miles left in my shoes from 2023 and I bought too many last year. Let's hope you get to test some of the shoes from 2025 while the 2024 models are still available at lower price.
My top 5 of 24 1. Adidas Pro 3 2. Asics Edge Paris 3. Adidas Evo SL 4. Nike Zoomfly 6 5. Adidas Prime X2 Strung Can't wait for the Pro 4 in January and then the new Hoka Cielo X1 2.0 In February. It's going to be strong start to 2025! 😂 Cheers Edd 🍻
Brilliant review Edd….absolutely loved it…my son and I love your channel….i will try these puma fast r nitro elite 2 just because of your review 😂 because your right, when we love running, it’s only right we should feel inspired and excited when lacing up a pair before a run, what a time to be a runner the last five years!! ….you can keep your adidas though 😂…looking forward to more of your reviews in 25’ …thanks Edd
Did a few long runs in the Adidas Prime X2.. I don't love it but I don't feel the weight.. Heel striking when tired is a joy and a few hours after the run legs fresh.. So my favourite for long runs despite being so heavy 😂
Maybe in 2054 I'll be prepared to spend £285 quid on some 'runners'. Maybe I can get a scholarship as a Nike beta tester for over 85 kilo'ers or somink. £900 quid this year on alphaflys Edd, room for some beard stroking there! Good werk for the year, most enjoyable. 👍 Happy Christmas.
This year was the Year Of The Hoka for me. Mach X2, Ceilo X1, and the Mach 6's all go to's depending on how I feel that day. My number one cruiser though are my Glycerin Max's. I love those things for when you dont want to feel the ground, at all. Very unique feel, and the weight doesnt bother me. Nice picks. Always appreciate the reviews and your take on stuff.
Not used to seeing the Sole Cubes empty, I was worried you'd had the shoes on 'sale or return'. Last race of the year for me tomorrow, I'll be in the Adidas Avanti TYO for some XC fun 😄
Puma Fast R V2 is so comfortable.. Midsole lasts forever... However I do feel the stiff plate or extended sole stress my Achilles Tendon.. Performance at a cost.. Deviate Nitro Elite 3 much easier to live with and again midsole lasts forever.. Nike listening?
Hi, novice here, what would you recommend for a beginner looking for something with goretex, something all round. I'm living in Scandinavia so the weather is cold wet and often snowy. Thanks in advance
The wife just bought me a pair of Cielo X1s. Excited to say the least. Maybe I need more miles in the AF3s. I keep getting hot spots each time I run in them. Or maybe I just got a pair that fits a little off. That said, they are fast.
The Mizuno Neo Vista was by far and away my favourite model - I"ve been struggling with PTTD this year (takes ages to heal) and the width and softness helped me get back to running. Now I'm feeling stronger, it's such a joy to run in for everything except anaerobic runs and the price was absolutely on point! Opposite end of the stack spectrum, the Brooks Hyperion 2 GTS has been an excellent daily driver - very impressed with the updates and helps offset the trend of super stack shoes
Hoka Cielo X1 is so underrated, it might be a heavy racer, but on the other hand it is extremely versatile from easy pace (05:30 for me) to race pace (04:00-04:20), it handles everything well, super fun, super protective. My number 1 of the year ahead of NB Balos and the two Pumas: Fast R 2 and Nitro Elite 3.
The next version is gonna be even better 👌🏻 Hoka say over an ounce lighter, new midsole geometry as well, and a new upper design, oooh it's gonna be good 😊
In no particular order Zegama 2, Hoka Tecton X3 and Ultrafly (they were very cheap during last black week so I bought an additional pair so its a 2024 shoe)
A disappointing year..mostly duds and at least 1 horrible shoe..tells something when you would rather race in a Hoka mach 6 than an alphafly V3..the mach 6 and the Diadora frequenza were both very nice surprises and I raced my final race of the season this morning, 9f at race time,in the frequenza..no plate,no problem..same pace and way,way more comfortable..probably the only race I've done when I wanted a warmer shoe..😊

You often talk about shear enjoyment and for me that’s the most fun ride of the year, even on days when you just can’t be bothered!
Just a bit too much shoe for me. It was massive!
Interesting List. I knew we would differ...but there is more overlap than I expected.🤙🏻
Just picked up the ZF 6 on Nike's site for $127.00US. A Christmas bargain for sure! AF is always at or near the top for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the Rebellion Flash 2 this year. Got it for $110US and it was my shoe of the year for sure.
Great review Edd! Hard to argue with any of these pics. All bangers! My favorites of these are the ZF6 and the SL2. Both fantastic all around shoes!
Appreciate for the review of the Hoka Mach 6. As a fan of the Endorphin Speed 3, I loved the ride of the Mach. It's the FOD Runner's Shoe of the Year for 2024
Thanks for your review. My best this years with no specific order.Novablast 4, nimbus 25,adizero strunt prime 2 and asics magic speed 3.
I’m putting the novablast 5 in my top 5 this year. They put the magic back in that foam 👍
Dankeschön, SIr! Great choices :)) My favs and most used for 2024: SL2, Hoka Mach 6, IR 3, NB 3, Tri Noosa 15, Gel Nimbus 25
Agree with you. The ZF6 and AF3 are both top!
Thanks for all your reviews this year Edd!
Glad you like them! My pleasure
Those empty boxes behind you scared me at first!
Facts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It gave 'Im ending my channel' vibes 😅
Cielo X1 amazing shoe. The surprise of the year. Mach 6 feel dead compare to it. Skyward X also big surprise and super fun m
You have excellent taste in running shoes

1. Alphafly 3
2. ASICS Superblast 2
3. Endorphin Speed 4
4. Brooks Glycerin Max

Always enjoy your perspective!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for tuning in

Mach 6 is the ultimate do it all 🎉🎉🎉
Can't believe the amount of counterfeit AF3 going around. Its absolutely bonkers.
Really? I bet it’s easy to spot though

Sky Paris are really good. The rest of my shoes are all models from previous years to avoid the rip off prices!
Boston 12, Asics sky paris, Adidas pro 3
Thanks for all the great videos
Glad you like them! Thanks for the support
Great job Edd!

Nice. List for Santa now completed🎉
Happy holidays!
I only have one 2024 shoe and that's the sl2 and it's great. I certainly have my eye on the zoomfly 6 tho.. You hearing me Santa!!!!
Hi Edd great review loved it but where's the Adidas Adizero Adios pro 3
Reviewed it back in 2023 I think
I would put 3 of those in my top ten too, although I haven’t taken them all as far or as fast as they can go. The two Nike shoes and the ON. 👍🙏
EDD I love your reviews, great explanation 🎉 you my go to guy 🎉🎉🎉
I appreciate that!
Edd made my decision to get the Alphafly 3’s easy. 🙌🏼

Nice review, Edd...but, what happened the smell test for each of these shoes?
Some too smelly for me

Yes the foams are superb on those
Hi, novice here, what would you recommend for a beginner looking for something with goretex, something all round. I'm living in Scandinavia so the weather is cold wet and often snowy. Thanks in advance
Pegasus trail 5 goretex. Superb shoe
I have Adidas Supernova rise Goretex, excellent grip, comfortable upper and enjoying it on easy and long runs in the cold.
The wife just bought me a pair of Cielo X1s. Excited to say the least.

NB4 or 5?
5 is better for me. Softer and more fun

I have the Mach X2 in wide. Absolutely the most fun this year for me. Terrible heel but amazing shoe. Definitely getting Mach X3 when out.
Look forward to seeing the v3
Would you go peg 41 or vomero 17 for 5k or 10k runs ed?
Or save some money and get Adidas SL2s instead?
Vomero 17. Much better than peg 41
Sl2 or Vomero much better

Please comment on the sustainability features of each model! Are they more or less eco friendly?!
Maybe the asics. Not sure on the others.
