After trying many shoes including plated ones, I decided superblast 1 will be my 1st marathon shoe. Mainly because it feels comfortable and most importantly in my mind I can trust it won't give me any major issues. I couldn't get hold of version 2 but heard it's v similar. And that's exactly how my race went, it was rock solid! It never felt hot, unstable, not grippy, heavy, mid sole getting soft/less bouncy. I even ran much faster than I expected. It carried me to the finishing line. I'm in awe with this shoe! No other shoes I've bought could do that. Perfect running shoe.
I’m in love with it ! As 200 lbs runner some shoes are too soft but the sb2 is just golden. So much fun to run in . Give it 50 miles and it gets even better .
I haven't run consistently for a couple of years but I committed and bought my entry to an April marathon a few weeks ago. I have some old Vaporflys that are pretty dead and a few 'running' shoes that aren't overly good for actual running. I've just bought a pair of Gel Nimbus 26s for training and some Hoka Cielo x1s for the final few long runs & marathon day. Happy to see the Hokas get some nice praise here
My top picks for the shoes of the year, which I both love and currently own, are the Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris and the Asics Superblast 2. Looking ahead to 2025, I’m planning to get the Asics Superblast 3 and the Hoka Mach X 3 (I saw a review on Believe in the Run mentioning the improved heel counter on the Hoka Mach X 3; you should check it out!). I’ll likely use them as my daily trainers. I’m also considering the Nike Alphafly 4 or the Asics Metaspeed Edge/Sky 4 for my next racing shoes.
A great list! My favorite super shoe this year is the Puma Deviate Elite 3; daily trainer is the Adidas Supernova Prima; super trainer is the Boston 12 (I know not a 2024 release but still my favorite in the category). Looking forward to trying the Evo SL and Pro 4 next year.
Happy New Year, Emily. My top shoes have been the Mach6 (I’ve gone through 2 pairs and have used them for pretty much every type of run including very long), the Hyperion2 (general training and far too much walking in these comfy, great performing and great looking shoes) and the Hyperion Max2 (long runs alternating with the Mach6). I still love my Takumi Sen8 for speedwork and 5K/10K races and I’m still using up the Endo Pro3 for marathons. Obviously I’m not a fan of super high-stack, very soft midsole shoes like what seem to be the majority favorites. The Rebel4, eg, was fun but ended up being a little too soft and unsupported in the upper for my narrowish feet. I don’t train in plated shoes, either. I feel like our feet should be allowed to flex most of the time to keep the entire biomechanical chain strong and supple.
nice pick. im done to buy shoes until next year fall season since many brands will release new shoes im done with this year to pick up adios pro 4 and superblast 2. actually want to get mach x2 but many reviewer got heel problem so skip it till mach x3 come out
I quit running after my 1st marathon L.A. 2022 when I hobbled in with a knee injury at 6 hours 14 minutes 😢 I also smashed my face into asphalt that year. I'm 68 now, just bought a pair of Clifton 9's and starting my journey again. Easy does it. Always love your reviews.
About to run a 24-hour race in the Asics novablast 5 and Superblast 2 and the Clifton 9 wide in case . These have been my shoes of the year . Sad what they're doing tonthe Clifton 10 going from 5mm to 8mm drop 😢.
I love that you took almost a year to run just to run. People don’t do it enough. I’m in a phase where I just want to run just to run & my friends are like, “What do you mean?”. My favorite SOTY was the ZoomFly w Superblast being a close 2nd. Haven’t tried your other picks, though. Happy New Year. It’s your last one before the baby!🎉
Finally got my hands on the Superblast 2 & it did not disappoint!! Lightweight, smooth rocker, stable for so much foam, stiff forefoot (which my fracture-prone 2nd metatarsal appreciates) without the aggression of a carbon plate. It’s been a great shoe for me. Jealous of your Paris colourway though. And I’m late to the Novablast 5 party, but dang, what a party this shoe is! I put it on & my whole body aligned like I’d been to the chiropractor. I’ve only had it for 6 weeks but it’s going to be a great rotation with the Superblast 2 for 2025. ASICS killed it in 2024!
Have a good holiday season (at least what's left of it) my picks Racing: Puma Deviate Elite 3, not really a contest, I liked the Metaspeed Sky Paris but Asics plates beat me up for some reason. Deviate Elite is exactly what I look for in a racing shoe, light, cushioned, aggressive and the Puma Grip was great in Chicago through all the sticky aid stations Long Run: Superblast 2. Don't really need to say much Max Cushion: Puma Magmax. Upper fits well, nice rocker geometry, softish without being overly soft (IMO, I don't really love soft shoes) Daily: Novablast 5, runner up Adidas SL2. EVO SL would be on this list because it's fantastic but it doesn't officially launch until next year Tempo: I think the Superblast could be here? I've done workouts in them, but if we are talking strictly workout shoe, then Nike Zoom Fly 6
Thanks for all your videos this year. Really enjoyable content. Here in the UK New Balance shoes cost a fortune. I also can’t get on with the fit of the shoes. ASICS have made some bangers this year and it feels like everybody forgot about the Endorphin Speed 4. Nevertheless, great list. Happy New Year!
Easy slow recovery runs: Saucony Hurricane 24 Easy cruising runs: Brooks Glycerin Max Daily Trainer: Asics Novablast 5 Plated trainer: New Balance SC Trainer V3 Plated (nylon) Speed Trainer: Brooks Glycerin Max Long run race day shoe: Superblast 2 Novablast is #1 only because I just got Superblast yesterday for Christmas and only have one long 17 mile run, but was amazed how SB2 was light and able to go for long miles.
Great video and great year of videos! My picks are: Super shoe: Puma DNE3 and Cielo X1 Daily trainer: Mach 6 and Puma DN3 Super trainer: Mach X2 Max Cushion: Skyward X and Glycerin Max
Vongo v6 most runs...( 1/2 marathons/ marathons ) is my favorite to date. Propell ( 5K & 10k) for short faster distances. New Balance is great with providing large sizes and supportive shoes for overpronators like me.
I have 200 pairs of SUPERBLAST 2 in Women’s sizes remaining. Paris, Magenta, White/Grey. Threads and Treads | Greenwich, CT. We ship nationwide via UPS.
I have some other categries in my list, but some are the same: Daily trainer: Novablast 4 Daily speed trainer: mach 6 Speedy long runs: Mach X2 Long runs: Superblast 2 Carbon super shoe; Cielo X1 2025 Wishlist :) Mach 7 (is this coming???) Mach X3, Cielo X1 2.0. And I heard Asics should be coming with other models in the "blast" family. Really curious about that too.
I run with a Time Machine lol. My new shoes to the rotation are gel nimbus 25 and triumph 21. The triumph 21 is pretty awesome daily and long run shoe.
Got altra via olympus 2 for whole day standing sitting walking on concrete... extremely happy. Want to try 1080 v13 as it's blamed to be softer than v14
Thanks for the breakdown! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Interesting comment about the Metaspeed's slight instability leading to "sore" feet. I run in Boston 12's and have "sore" feet after long runs. Could that be a factor?
@@RunLikeHeller Thank you for that bit of info, Emily. Its really insightful. What would you suggest as my next shoe? I love tempo shoes, as I normally buy one shoe for all my runs and sometimes swap it out for my other shoes lying around for short easy runs. I dont race often, but i'd expect the shoe to handle a marathon at easy -moderate paces.
I quit running a couple of years ago. Life got too busy. This show makes me want to bust out my running shoes .
Do it!!!!
Sounds like an excuse. If you got time to be on UA-cam you got time to be racking up miles 🤣.
That's the best comment another runner can hear.

SB2 is same , will love it when you get one
Thank you for another year of amazing content Emily!
I was on the edge about buying the superblast. I’m sold!

I love the Pumas and Primas. Absolutely hated the Boston 12s.
An excellent round up.
Hoka Mach X2 is my favorite! Luckily, I didn’t have issues with the heel collar.

OMG I loved the Balos I'm hoping they keep this shoe model going
same wat type of runs do u like most in them?
As super shoes for me the Metaspeed Sky Paris. As max cushioned the Glycerin Max and as daily trainers the Boston 12.
ZF6s and the adidas SL2 are my favorite runners of the year.
100% agree with the NB Balos pick 😍
You had me at the MTC R1. That's my shoe of the year by a wide margin. I ran a fasted 5x5: five marathons in five days while fasting, all in the R1.
That’s incredible!
@RunLikeHeller Thank you, Emily. Couldn't have done it in any other shoe. Happy New Year. 🥳 🎉
wtf???? back to back to back to back to back? wat marathon times did u hit in all of them?
how sore was ur legs after finishing each one?
@io-rj6sk The purpose was to test my fat-adaptation.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife wat times tho?

Which size available in Paris colourway
@ Women’s 6 through 9
Brooks all the way I say, great video

Interesting comment about the Metaspeed's slight instability leading to "sore" feet. I run in Boston 12's and have "sore" feet after long runs. Could that be a factor?
It’s definitely possible. If the shoe has a narrow midfoot i can sometimes have an issue with this

Yes, could be considered that I suppose.

Boy Saucony has really fallen off this year. Not many of their shoes have made it to these Top Shoes of the Year lists. Happy New Year!
Happy new year!! I think they’ll have some good stuff in 2025!
Thanks for a wonderful year. If you ain’t liken it I ain’t buying it.
But what is "your" best shoe of 2024, which is ultimately your favourite regardless of price or category? 🤔
Superblast 2!
Did Saucony fall off in 2024? They were all the rage a few years ago....I own three pairs, Triumph, Kinvara and Ride
Saucony is great! I think their 2025 shoes are going to be a real hit.
First! Yay!!!
