For any beginner: One thing to keep in mind is that he is roll-casting (not overhead but more of a side arm throw) this keeps the lure parallel to the water, a creates a slow controlled descent into the water. This removes a high arc (as in overhead cast) where the lure at one point will decelerate and start its descent but the spool is still accelerating...causing backlash. If a beginner can start out with roll-casting they will have a better experience.
