@AlbertaBoundRailfanning Humans dont know who they are.... they dont know that women and men different creatures.... they dont know fundemental, base.... not knowing Base, wont allow you to build stable structures....
I drive a local truck and have to cross a road intersection like this. It's sketchy since traffic can be approaching you from behind in your blind spot, and you'll never see them until the last second, and with the type of truck I drive, there isn't much of a rear window to look out of since it's blocked by a big bulk tank attached to the back of my truck. Fortunately this railroad crossing has warning lights to indicate if a train is coming. As long as the crossing lights are working, that's good enough for me.
Oh I know exactly how it feels! Growing up on a farm, we hauled grain over these tracks many times. Certainly not the best visibility on these angled crossings!
Definitely agree... but in this scenario it actually should have helped for visibility since the train was coming head-on practically! (Doesn't look like it the way the wood scattered though)
As a Professional truck driver, is it so hard to slow down for a railroad crossing, take your phone out your ear, turn down the stereo, open the window and listen for the train horn and look both ways? My sympathies to the drivers family and friends.
Exactly! A small amount of caution goes a long way! These guys got lucky, but the passenger lost his arm. All said, though, that's far better than it could have been.
Everyone survived, but the passenger unfortunately lost his right arm. Looking at the big picture, though, it could have been far worse. How far west are you talking? CN travels coast to coast morealess!
A small get well present... with the price of lumber, I wouldn't complain. 🤪 For real, though, they removed it before they took off, haha! I wasn't sure if they'd catch it or not, but they did!
There's some pretty thick bush on both sides of the highway lining the tracks, so the driver wouldn't have seen the train until it was right in front of him. Regardless, I definitely agree with you!
Absolutely. Add stopping distance into the equation as well, and it adds a whole lot more responsibility to the driver. When you weight 140,000 pounds, you can't miscalculate anything.
Two of the biggest issues with rigs is fatigue and the hypnotic boredom of the prairies. If you're running the Rogers' Pass you're on your game. Or you're going down the mountain.
Yes 100%! I know how zoned out you can be when you're traveling along a boring stretch, especially one that these guys likely travel daily. 9 times out of 10, there isn't anything to be alert of, unlike the mountains. It really wouldn't be hard to miss crossing lights if you were zones out, and before you know it, the train is in front of you. Is it an excuse, no... but I can definitely see it happening.
Can't under/over pass them all...Be smart and Just Stop! I know others will roll the dice and go around you but..your butt is that long with a Trailer. How about flashers on and pull slightly to the side and have a very clear look as you approach?
Humans started driving, over 100 years ago. They will never Learn.
Nope... that's pretty clear every time I leave the house!

The locals will have all that wood gone by morning
CB's have not gone out of style in that area. That calf shed and new pole covered shed are DONE.
HA right! That's what I was thinking! Lumber is expensive these days... gotta do what ya gotta do!

New Sub Fantastic Flight Sad situation for dose in this accident thanks for sharing with us and you have a good Weekend 🫵🍺✌️👍
Thank you very much for the support and kind words! You have a great weekend as well!
Did the Jeet’s sandal get stuck under the brake
I'd be lying if I said when I first heard about the accident that wasn't the first thing that came to mind...
What brakes, any pictures I’ve ever seen, trains always win. How come they don’t teach that in driving school
Hard to teach something like that when Class 1 training isn't nearly as long as it should be to really get a feel for the rigs...
Dam angle crossings are dangerous!

It is a sad thing that people do not pay enough attention at railroad crossings.
Absolutely.
Trains and our friendship unite us from Mexico to Canada🚂✨🙋🏻♂️
Absolutely! Trains connect us all.

Interesting shot at 1:18, is that electricity arcing under the split metal on 5677?
I never noticed that... could be! Or maybe it's just grain from the camera? I honestly didn't notice that before!
It's the locomotive's "step light"
Hopefully everyone is okay!
I wish I could see a CN locomotive in the wild but I’m too far west probably
Everyone survived, but the passenger unfortunately lost his right arm. Looking at the big picture, though, it could have been far worse.

Looks like 5677 is going to abscond with a few 2x4s sitting on the roof.

@@AlbertaBoundRailfanning Yeah I figured they probably would. Great footage BTW!
Thank you! I appreciate it!
How the hell could you not see a train coming when it's so flat. Slow down and look.

Glad it was a train and not a school bus.
Absolutely! They picked a fight with the biggest thing they could have, fortunately for everyone else.
cars and Trucks take 1.2 to 1.7 seconds to clear. An 18 Wheeler? Times 6! I know still small amount but this shows what happens.

Looks like a hame of Pick-up-Sticks!
You got that right!
Where is that
Highway 44, Alcomdale, Alberta
No one hurt or what
Driver had minor injuries and the passenger was airlifted to hospital. No further updates.
Driver and passenger....says everything you need to know right there
@@mikejessmax Yup, good description!
@@mikejessmaxand what does it tell you ?
X really did mark the spot
No kidding! I thought the same thing when I first put the drone up.

ANY TIME IS TRAIN TIME FROM A RETIRED RAILROADER 😊
You are absolutely right about that! Even on lines like this where you only see a few each day!

Just another big rig that thinks everything needs to yield to them.
Quite possibly. It's concerning how frequent these incidents are becoming.
Just another big rig driver that thinks trains don’t haul freight anymore.
