- This is a review and how to set up your Danby 3 in 1 portable air conditioner from Costco.
This danby 3 in 1 review and set up from Costco is straight forward and honest. No bologna.
The danby 3 in 1 review and set up works great, is quiet and cools your place off when it's hot af outside.
The danby 3 in 1 review and setup is easy to set up in most windows. In this video I set up the danby 3 in 1 in my sliding patio door. Not ideal but it still works. - Розваги
Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!
It’s pretty good! How long have you had yours?
Bro decided to do a review with his boxers lmaooooo
And his blow up girlfriend in the corner with her arms up. Don't tell me you missed that nugget!
It be hot man! That’s why he needs the AC Don’t you judge, I’m a woman and I feel the need to let the ladies loose when it’s scorching hot 🤣
Exactly! Finally someone who gets it!!!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer bro your whole dick print showing da fck lmaooooo
matter a fact might as well get naked next time bud ✅
Not sure whats stranger.. the fact your in your ginch, or the fact your in your ginch with a mannequin/blow up doll in the corner 🤣 either way great video
Thank you 🤣
The mannequin was for a workout video where the machine crashes and now she keep people from Parkin in my spot. The ginch is just me being lazy.
A blow up doll is a fantastic idea. Imagine that on the other side 😅
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer 😂😂 I’m lazy too, I answer my door in my ginch
searching all day for a half descent review/install. yours is best by far. thanks. getting one tonight
Thanks Jerry!
Just bought this unit and stripped down to my drawers so i think I'm about ready to install
That’s the only way to install one 🤣
Enjoy!!
I couldn't figure out how to get it in my sliding door this was a huge help thank you
No problem! Too easy hey? Did yours work out this well?
I was about to give up on installing this A/C because I couldn't get the exhaust hose to reach all the way up the window slider kit like Danby shows in their installation video. I didn't know if it was safe to install it on the bottom instead. I'm happy to see this has been working for you without any issues. Thank you for the video!
Awesome! Glad you found it useful! I’m with you, the Danby instruction videos leave a lot to be desired. Should work great for you, hope it does. Thanks for your comment!
I hooked mine up yesterday, the 12000 BTU version with "inverter". An important consideration is whether my "solar generator" can run it. Yes, it can! This unit has a soft start feature that ramps up the fan speed and compressor speed. It reached about a kilowatt of power consumption after a minute or so. It also does not dim the lights as it cycles on and off; this one doesn't seem to cycle at all; just ramps up and down the compressor barely noticeable.
The dual host configuration made a big difference, more than I anticipated. By NOT pulling in warm outside air the room stays cooler even when the unit is off. The one it replaced, a single host 12000 BTU, would pull in so much warm air that it was nearly ineffective except in its immediate vicinity. So, I am very happy.
Inverter technology CAN fail abruptly more often than simple electric motor technology but overall I am delighted with it.
That’s amazing you can run it on your solar! That soft start feature is so nice from a noise perspective too, so much easier to sleep through the cycling if it’s in the bedroom.
I didn’t know that about the inverter technology being prone to fail abruptly, that’s certainly good to know.
Thank you for leaving such an insightful comment! Love learning about these things and hearing other’s experiences as well, there’s a whole A/C community on here, it’s great!
How do I get the circular horizontal disc to stay on? Had it for a yr, wont stay on? Had the whole vent replaced as clips broke off & they sent another circular disc for horizontal window. Help??
That’s a strange one. I bet you they sent you the wrong one from a different model. Duct tape will work in a pinch until the correct one arrives
How long is the back hose/tube? I need it to stretch to a window that is higher up in the room.
I estimate it’s max 4-5’ long when fully extended accounting for the need to bend the end piece perpendicular for the exhaust to function
Straight and to the point amazing
Thank you brother, much appreciated!!
Lmaoooo, I swear this dude sounds like we brothers … Live the vid-bro… got a room built on n my basement with a small window and I saw this just now At Costco… it’s in white tho ( Prefer Black)… After seeing this video I feel super confident in buying it. Thanks from NYC
Ha ha fist bump on that to you my brother! 🤜🤛 thank you for your comment!!
It’s a solid choice, I’ve tried so many crappy ones this is the best. Hope it works for you too!
I bought that unit, u explained the set up easy, appreciate it.
Glad it helped man, hot af even up here in 🇨🇦 right now hey. Hope it works well for you thanks for your comments
Excellent! Thank you! How large is the room you are cooling?
Thank YOU for the comment! It's basically cooling the entire floor of the house. Approximately 1200sqft with the bedroom and washroom doors closed. Yesterday it was +28 outside and +23 in the house before I turned on the a/c. Within an hour the house thermostat indicated +20. Not bad!
thanks for the video. do you know the exact model of this unit? thanks
You bet it is: DPA120B9IBDB-RF
Do you run this along with your central air or use to cool your whole house? I got the Dreo Twincool and takes 2 hours to get to 77f from 84f, got it set at 74f.
I wish! Unfortunately I have to leave this thing running 24/7 on very hot days. Keeps the top floor of my 3 bedroom house around +22 inside when it’s around +30 outside. Sorry for the Celsius I’m not familiar with the conversion.
Sounds like the dreo twincool is a sweet unit if this thing ever stops working I’ll have to check those out!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer does it actually stay on the whole 24 hours, I'm afraid it would overheat and shut it down on mine.
@@fish4fun354 absolutely it runs 24 hours no problem. Probably the biggest risk I was concerned about is I have my drain plugs in but so far it’s not spilled any water.
The window kit is that long? What’s the length of it?
Great question! I measured it just now and it’s 6’5” when fully extended.
may I know how long can the window panel be extended? Thanks!
This one came with a full 9ft of panel! But I’ve heard people say that not all of them come with so much. This one came with 3, 3ft sections
Buddy you rule! Duct tape! Thank you so much!
Thanks man, duct tape rules! Thank you for you comment
Just bought this same unit and i had to use ducktape for the panels for sliding door.
I have the unit plugged into a powerbar...i have it on snowflake set it to 22 and it short cycled on me twice! So i thought if i set the timer for 1.5 hrs...nope short cycled again. When it short cycles even the power bar light turns off.
Am i doing somethiny wrong??
I read if the unit is too big for your space it can do this...but it only runs 3 minutes and off.
That's annoying!! I don't think you're doing anything wrong that sounds like a problem with the unit. Do you have to reset the power bar when the light turns off?
I've used mine in the bedroom and on 20, snowflake lowest fan setting it doesn't even short cycle like that on me. I have never plugged it into a bar tho. Have you tried just plugging it into the wall?
Good video! Are you able to open your patio door without removing the setting of the panels?
Thank you! Unfortunately no, if I open the door the panels fall over. So, I just carefully place them aside/lean them on the window when I have to use the door or when the a/c is not in use.
Hello. I'm planning on purchasing this. Do you know how long the window slider (A) is? I've downloaded the owner's manual and prod spec online but can't find it. My window is 19". Thank you.
Hi Louise! As soon as I got home from work I measured for you, the piece that has the hole for the exhaust tube in it is 28” long (slider A I believe).
So you will need to buy a hack saw ($10) and cut the slider A to size for your window. I have done this before and it’s very easy.
Hope that helps! Any other questions feel free to ask!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
do you have a thermometer to know the temperature of the air coming out of this a/c, i have one since 3 years and now the air coming out seem not that cold. when i put it at 16 celcius the air is at 16 celcius... but when i bought it, it was so cold that water was dripping from the vent of condensation.
I did try putting a thermometer in the air outlet stream but I found it wasn’t that reliable for testing. I think I needed a laser gun or something.
In any case, i’ve gotten quite a few comments in the last while about how people are having the same issue doesn’t feel as cold and the reply to those comments from other people was you need to clean this unit? It gets very dirty inside the coils get covered and dust and that is what makes it not cool as good as it did before.
The really bad news is that apparently it’s very difficult to clean because you gotta take it apart. I had to sell mine before that was an issue because I needed the money so I cannot confirm because I don’t currently own it.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer thanks for the reply, yes i saw the thing about cleaning the coil, i tried with the vacuum to take out much dirt as i can... i tried also to remove the rear or front of the a/c but i didnt worked... Maybe i will try to contact Danby but im out of the warranty
Bummer man. Where’d you buy it?
The other thing that is less common but happens is a very slow refrigerant leak so your charge might be low. Not sure how your test it on one of these though. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help hope you’re able to fix it, I’d expect to get way longer than 3 years out of a $500 PAC
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Yes maybe there is a slow leak, i dont know if there is a way to test it also...I bought it at costco but i did not have the costco credit card yet at the time i bought it to double the warranty... On the low setting does yours do more noise every 15 minutes or so like the compressor kick in a bit for few minutes or it is always silent on the low setting?
It’s always silent on the low setting here. Interesting
Can you do a video on how to clean the filter please on this unit? I just bought this model & can't figure out how to access the filter. (No instructions provided in the booklet)
Also, does yours stop on its own once in a while? Mine just randomly stops pumping air... i'm forced to turn it off & restart it manually.. is that normal for this model?
Great idea thank you!
No, that is definitely not normal for it to just shut off. Something inside is wrong. How long have you had it?
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I just bought it last week
@EvaMariposa 😱 it’s only a week old!? Can you return it? Sounds like it defective
@TheLastHonestInfluencer I threw away the boxes/packaging, so can't return it to Costco.... I'll call Danby's customer service to see what they say. Good thing I registered for the warranty right away.
Costco will take it back without the box for sure. Bring everything you have (remote etc). It’s absolutely ridiculous it doesn’t work properly within the first month. You can try Danby, but if they won’t exchange it for you without expense return it to Costco for sure. It should work perfectly for at least a year for that price.
How many sqft are you using that thing to cool?
Approximately 1200sqft. Powerful unit. I’m not saying it’ll cool the whole house to +17…but it’ll drop the temp by 2-3 degrees in an hour easy. Takes the ‘edge’ off the heat.
Thanks to this video installing mine was easy.
I got it used from marketplace, it looks exactly like yours and has the boost mode and connects to wifi, it was advertised as a 14000 btu . The issue i have is , it’s missing the sticker with the model/serial number and i need to buy the plastic panels because the one i got was cut short to fit a smaller window . At this point i am just desperate , can you give me your model number ? Thanks in advance.
Awesome you got it used hope you can find the panels the model # on mine was: DPA120B9IBDB-RF
Can’t find it on Costco’s website. What’s the model or item number?
Hello! It is: Item 7708212

Hi does it cool well? Our house is 900sqft n we r using it only to cool our living room with two bedrooms n toilet doors closed YET it doesnt even cool it let alone male tje room cold even when we set it at 16degrees!oitside was 28 smthng! Also it makes huge noise does urs as well??
Also the air coming out when frm the vents feels lik cool fan air not like the cold split AC air that we have been used to. Is it normal??
Do you have this exact model?
I’ve used many different models of these and I find this one cools my place down the best. Do you have it set to snowflake and highest fan setting?
It’s super noisy running at full blast, yes. When I keep it on all day and run it a low speed it’s not bad. Problem with portable air conditioners they have the evaporator, compressor and condenser AND fan all in one unit…so noisy.
There might a problem with your unit it should be able to cool off 900sqft no problem. I’m about 1200sqft and on a 30 degree day it keeps my inside temp down around at 21 (running full blast).
That’s not normal. It should feel ice cold when it’s working properly. Check your settings you want snowflake and full fan and lowest temp (16).
Maybe you need to open the drains or something is blocking the exhaust?
Hi firstly thank you soo much for such a prompt n detailed reply sir!
To ur questions now i think i jave the same one as urs the box says " 14k btu(12k sacc).dual hose design, improved bucket free design, 80degrees wider angle air vent. "
Yes i did the same settings
1-full fan,
2- 16celcius
3-snowflake
Yet air frm it is just cool fan nt cold at all!
What do u suggest i do??
@@hirakhan8234 return it. Seems like there is an issue with the evaporator or condenser. Perhaps the refrigerant charge is bad?
No pants No problem!
Because he was sweating his balls off
The adapter pieces in the kit allows you to turn the exhaust vertically so it fits out the side hole. Also you could the bottom piece upside down when assembling the pieces so the output is in a decent height.
I did end up using the adapter... unfortunately all the plastic clips broke off it. It is now duct taped as well. Also the plastic bottom piece cracked.
You'll notice in the video when I turn the 'bottom piece' upside down so the output is a decent height the orientation of the hole was such that I could not get the door to seal/close. That I did explain in the video.
Does it need drainage hose ?
If you live in a very humid area using the hose helps it cycle off to auto drain less frequently. Where I live is super dry and I havent ever used the hose and it rarely runs the 'purge cycle'. Purge cycle sucks tho, the a/c compressor turns off and its all fan so the place gets hot.
So if you dont use the hose, where does the water gets collected? I have a dehumidifier it does have a bucket attached.
There’s a drip tray inside and a reservoir apparently
Awesome video. Thank you for posting this. I was looking to buy a different brand, but your video has just sold me on the Danby. THANK YOU
Thank you for your kind worded comment, Glad I could help! Hope it works as well for you as it has for me. Stay nice and cool inside and have a great summer
How long is the cord? Thanks
Approximately 6.0ft
@@TheLastHonestInfluencerThanks, what part of the country are you at? Wondering if that makes a difference in how much gets drained.
@@carmenwong6074 Calgary, ab, CaNaDa. It’s very dry here, that probably makes a big difference.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Yes that makes sense being in Calgary. How heavy would you say it is? Are there wheels? Thanks so much for answering all the questions.
@@carmenwong6074 in one of my videos I mention the weight off hand I can’t remember but I recall it was something like 60 or 70lbs? Crazy heavy. Thankfully there are castor wheels!
Where can i buy that mannequin/doll? Asking for a friend.
Found an add on Kijiji, it was $80 from a sketchy warehouse on the outskirts of town. They for sure thought I was buying it to be a perv. Told them it was for UA-cam and they gave me the ‘ok sure buddy’ look 😅
lol why did I not notice he was in his boxers until I started thinking again about why he had the girl mannequin in his living room
It’s more subtle than the mannequin 🫣
It bothers me that the cord does not match the color of AC.
Now that you mention it…wtf! Good point. That’s ugly. Not to mention aren’t most cords black anyways…?
It’s like they went out of their way to make it not match!
Does it work better if you set it up in your underwear?
Cooling is 25% stronger. Even says so in the manual.
Cuz of my poor decisions I’m renting a shitty place 😂
only funny because it’s true 😅💩
Mine drains sooo much water… came here to see if you had the same problem
Weird!! I’ve had other models that drained like crazy as well…but this one I leave the drain caps on without issue. I just removed them to check..and no water came out.
Perhaps you live in a much more humid climate or something.
The solution I used in the past was rig up a short length of hose and drained them into 4L milk jugs. Pain in the ass to always have to empty them tho and I warped my hardwood floor real good one night.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer if you set it to dry then yes it will drain gallons of water.
But with the cool setting there should at most droplets.
So I have to throw away my pac with a crappy non insulated hose!? Damn it!
I would. Immediately
Why don’t you just put shorts on ?
And grow a moustache?
The decision to not put pants on before making this video only eventuates the fact that this man has ONE large hose (and it’s the accessory to the air conditioner).
Hey! I'll have you know people find my micropenis endearing
Potty mouth. Agreed great matching bought one for me and my elderly mother because I’m such a good son.

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I had a random question, in the vid you were talking about the insulated tube, do you know of another brand that has the same type?
Omg. Funny you ask that. I am currently in the process of editing videos for three new portable air conditioners. NONE of them had that insulated tube. It’s insane. After having used one with a dual insulated exhaust, i will never ever settle for one with just a single tube ever again.
The difference in cooling is unbelievable . These new ones are $300 more than the one in the video and they don’t work as well. I had to sell the one from this video last year and now I’m having a hard time finding another one with a hose like that too.
I will remember you and this comment as soon as I find a good dual insulated exhaust I will reply to you. I haven’t found one yet.
Have an awesome weekend!
