Do you use the HDR Ultra settings on or off what's your thoughts please, also the colour enhance? Not sure whether to leave on or off, HDR Ultra seems to make the sky too bright and glary looking but does little to brighten the pic overall. 8 Pro Max. Thanks ❤

Its good to have options now, between samsung, google and oneplus. I will always prefer samsung due to the great quality of the phones, especially my S23 ultra, but that pixel 8 pro looks GOOD!! Also id love to try out the oneplus fold phone!

I still miss the ability to adjust exposure and shadows right from the Google camera viewfinder. Instead, now they tuck it away under some separate mode, making the Pixel the only flagship phone without viewfinder exposure control by default. I don't have problems with teal, but my pixel does tend to make yellow, white..esp yellow LEDs like the McDonalds' sign..

10:15 Tensor G3 didn’t nail it at all, they just optimized on the G2 for Pixel 8/8Pro. Imagine how much snappier Pixels could've been with even SD 8Gen2-level optimisation and performance!

The chip of the Pixel 8 Pro is a big downside for me. Heating up and getting what feels like a 1-2 year old chip. For that price, I'd expect better. Pixel photos are amazing but I personally prefer One UI and it's feature packed software. Despite that, I wanted to try something new (used a Note 10+ before this) and I came so close to picking up the new pixel this year. It was priced more than the S23 Ultra where I live and I absolutely didn't see it worth paying more than an S23 Ultra for.

My issue with pixel is their build quality. First there was the defective fingerprint scanner on my pixel 6. Then on my pixel 7 pro my camera lens cracked out of nowhere. The glass covering it was fine but the lens itself cracked. Then the volume button fell out. Then I got a replacement and the screen died! And forget about getting it fixed, nobody repairs pixels (at least in my area) the only option is getting a replacement phone. I went to samsung and I can honestly say the only thing I miss from Google is the earth wallpaper that has live satellite weather.

Thats very true. We have reached peak smartphone performance needs for the vast majority and more performance is just flexing or for a niche group that AAA mobile game on their phones. It is now about efficiency, AI and software optimisation and the Pixel 8 Pro does all these with aplomb.

    • @TaureanSmoke
      @TaureanSmoke 3 місяці тому

@@blakeolson2036 it just shows you have no idea what you're talking about. The power and the battery optimization isn't the issue. The only issue with tensor is this read. Write speed is really slow. So that's what takes everything so much time on the tensor. But in reality, 100% of the things we're doing on the phone takes no time at all, so it really doesn't even matter what you're talking about! Because the phone itself is vastly more powerful than what most people even use it for. And I only know this because I put this phone through everything and it does everything just as fast as a s24 ultra and an iPhone 15 pro Max. It's just hilarious that you people still try to say that it doesn't which shows that y'all don't even use pixels! And again, it's always you bots with fake profile pictures lmfao!

Besides you can say that it's also kind of objective when a lot of people agree on one being better. Tests done by MKBHD about cameras always had Pixels at the top. I had the Pixel 6 pro, 7 Pro, and 8 Pro and there was always something wrong with them. And the battery life hasn't changed. I had the 8 Pro recently and while I love the size, the clarity of the screen and the snappy software. The battery life still sucks and the connectivity is even worse. I was constantly seeing my Wi-Fi switching to 5G and then back to Wi-Fi and it would say "Excellent" for signal strength but also have "!" along with it. Restarted the phones Internet, restarted my router and nothing helped. Google customer support said it's a device issue. Returned it, got another one, started having the same issue! My Pixel 5a never had this issue! But then again ... My Pixel 5a has a mid range Snapdragon chip in it.
Google should have never gone away from Snapdragon. Cuz I honestly think that Tensor chip is the issue!

I currently have a P6P. Prior to that I had a Pixel & before that a Samsung Galaxy. 2 days ago I dropped my phone, not hard, but the screen cracked in 2 places; so far it's still usable but I'm sure that won't last. Being it's a Pixel, that means I need to get a new phone. It's the same reason I got the 2nd Pixel, the 1st one's screen broke.
In your video you mention you're more worried about the Samsung breaking. My understanding is that a Samsung screen can actually be replaced whereas a Pixel's cannot, because it's not a separate piece (the entire body is made at once). Am I correct in this? If so, I'm leaning towards going back to a Samsung.
I like my Pixel, it's been easy to use. I'm a pretty "basic" phone user in that I don't take fancy pictures, I don't watch movies or play animated games on my phone ( Words w/ Friends, Wordle, Jigsawscapes are about the extent for me). I text, call, check my email accounts, do my banking, vote on The Voie and AGT. Pretty basic. I'm not a clutz but I do drop my phone every now & then; doesn't everyone?
What phone would you recommend for me now? I am NOT willing (able) to pay for the best of any brand.

the s23FE hands down loses it against the 8 pro, even 7 pro prob gonna do its job in terms of camera at least, & depends where u live u might get the Exynos chip in the S23FE instead of the Snapdragon. (its not a bad thing since Pixel are modified Exynos chips too but for the same price having massive performance differences selling Exynos & SD is kinda scummy - also heard they get way hotter and throttle more compared to the modified Pixel ones - but cant confirm)
If u care about updates the Pixel 8 lineup offers way longer feature & secruity updates than the S23FE. so if u are a long term user that takes care about ur phone and keep them usually for a long term its worth (also repairability is "easier" on the pixel)
Technically speaking from Hardware: the Pixel 8 (non pro) is "higher or has about the same" spec than the S23FE (but smaller) - the pixel 8 non pro has no tele lens tho but idk if the 8mp in the samsung makes even sense. Same thing with the Pixel 8 wifi 7 capabilities - its there but nobody used it yet.
S23 Ultra vs P8 pro on other hands depends on what u gonna like more i guess - Hardware S23Ultra its better, Software prob Pixel a bit better in terms of features & upcoming features

Using both, I still prefer my S23U due to the better integration it has with with devices (Windows and other Samsung devices), shared clipboard, better gallery app, better files app, Samsung Calendar is more useful, Samsung Health is more pleasant to use than fitbit (plus no additional cost). I feel Google is not putting enough in to sway other Android users to switch to Pixel. In terms of AI, Google need to work on the fundamentals first of making this a smartphone for all users, not just for the US. Even here in the UK, the Pixel I feel isn't good enough, and their ecosystem of devices needs to improve, massively.

I had the Pixel 7 Pro and it felt extremely stupid going to study abroad in Japan and randomly losing features. Especially because Pixel’s are the 2nd most popular choice after iPhones in Japan now in 2023 (crazy, you see them EVERYWHERE). So I agree they really need to work on getting stuff to work for the world not just the US. At least make stuff work in the markets Pixels are sold smh.

      MY 2023 list :
      1. Huawei mate x5 foldable 1 tb simply brilliant
      2. My glorious incredible Samsung s23 ultra
      3. ONE PLUS OPEN
      4. XIAOMI MIX FOLD 3
      5. PIXEL 8 PRO
      6. Iphone 15 pro max 1 tb
Too many limitations with the iphone . I started with the iphone Years ago . I first transitioned with the samsung s10 plus and then now my s23 Ultra and next year z fold 6. The s pen gestures and utilization of camera from a distance , multi tasking, 10 x zoom , samsung dex and flow , Nintendo emulators of super smash bros ans Mario oddyseey, astrophotography of constellations, better photo editing, customization of theme and keyboard, copy and paste clipboard, better AI capabilities, things like micro sd card, music ring tone customization, how you can download anything from anywhere at anytime , foldable innovation etc . Thats why Samsung , Huawei, Xiaomi and Google Pixel 8 pro are superior to the iPhone. The iPhone is based on simplicity which is good for infants and the elderly but for me IOS is too boring and ill never find an e sim by force to go back to it.

I moved from the s23u to the 8 pro, first time ive actually wanted to use a Pixel. Ive gotta say the experience has been overall pretty positive and I do enjoy the camera a lot. I am however going back to my s23u and then likely to the s24u on release. I just feel Samsung offers more as a package, for what I like anyway. Customisation is amazing on Samsung, especially with good lock and also the 8 Gen 2 I found gave me better performance (pixel doesn't lag, just one example is I edit a lot of photos on my phone and the 8 Gen 2 is much quicker at dealing with these on Lightroom etc). I also prefer the screen of the Ultra and the battery life was quite a bit better. But ye, ive enjoyed the 8 pro, just isn't enough for me to keep using it long term.

I was on the same boat! I have an S23 ultra and got the pixel 8 Pro to try out and I went back to the S23 ultra within two days. Pixel 8 pro is great but the chip is a massive L as everything takes forever to load, especially editing on the photos app. And also Samsung offers an insane amount of customization options that Google don't. I can only imagine what the S24 ultra will be like because so far nothing can beat the S23 ultra overall. I do gotta say the pixel 8 pro's video boost is awesome.

Felt the same way. Been a pixel user since the pixel 2. The pixel 6 and 7 pro honestly erked me with their terrible battery life and overheating issues to the point I made the switch to the s23 ultra.
It far and away is the better phone, better battery life, better display, faster speeds with no hiccups. But even after a few months of using it I felt I was still missing the pixel due to software. Waited for the Black Friday deals but sure enough I'm back to a pixel 8 pro. Still gets warm, still not as good battery life or processor speed, but fits my day to day.
Have noticed some weird camera stuff too but mostly with the selfie camera. It's been happening since the 6 pro but inside selfies always look terrible. I always look like I'm sick. Not sure if anyone else notices that.

This was me last year. Got my pixel 7. Liked it ALOT untill it was time to video chat with family. Phone constantly heated up. And Then summer of 23 came. My phone was always hot! And the glass back made it Annoying to hold or place on a surface without fearing it would slip off. And I hated how long it took to charge. And I ALSO missed having specific time/location based DND/work/play/exercise modes like on iOS and Samsung.
Then I got the s23+. I've always hated Samsung since the touch wiz days. For the obvious reasons....but I was REALLY impressed with one UI 5. And I like One UI 6....and I love how fast it charges.but honestly I've been a Nexus/pixel fan for as long I've had a smartphone. And I really would like to come back to pixel. One UI is great...but it's not naked android and I miss that.
