Great compilation Don...my all time favorite band...I was born in East LA...Conrad the bass player from Lobos grew up 6 houses down the street from my great grandmother ....always been soo proud of this amazing Los Angeles band!!!!
I love how at the end of the last verse of Mas Y Mas David lets out that great scream and chuckles to himself as he starts shredding again on that Les Paul.
Grew up watching these guys play at our East L.A college assemblies in the students lounge for various occasions ! So proud to see them as national success! Couldn't happen to a nicer set of guys! They use to play every thing at parties too! ,sometimes Mexican regional music, Beatles & blues R& R !🎼🎵🎸🥁🎙😎✊🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
LOVE this version of Mas Y Mas....reminds me of how intense it is to see it here vs in a concert video...imagining people who never saw Los Lobos hearing it brings chills of joy....ROCK ON FOREVER GUYS!!!
Oh heck yeah, thanks for putting these all together! They're one of my favorite live crews ever, seen them every chance I've had. They just get the lead out, every time.
Great mix. I adore these guys and put them in my top 10 favorite bands ever. I remember my first time hearing them - I bought Kiko and the Lavender Moon and was hooked. I’d never heard anything like it before, or since.
I just heard Kiko on my FM station and wondered who the heck that was? They are so damned eclectic electric and yes acoustic!! U must all see Kiko And the Lavendar Moon music video. But WARNING ALVISO...dont be on psychade!ics!!!
Driving to work as a very very, old gardener that went to the same Jr. college Chabot..at the same time as Mr. Hanks....and I hear this insanely good song on the KRUSH FM and later I discover its Kiko and The Lavendar Moon. LONG LIVE DAVID HIDALGO and the boys from East LA!!!
The RRHoF is a worthless honor anyway. I mean, when they induct Chaka Khan and Madonna over other acts like Los Lobos, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, etc, they've lost all credibility.
Good call putting this one together, Don! David Hidalgo makes a dedication at the start of "This Time" that I think is a reference to a guest earlier in the show. The guest was a young man who's family owned a farm. Dave asked him some kind of farming related question. The kid's answer was "The Mexicans do that." Got a pretty good laugh from the audience and then Dave asked someone to please check and see if the band had left.
He referred to a kid named John-Mark, who was one of the champions of the “National Hollerin’” contest. Though there was no such conversation with him where he said “The Mexicans do that.” Nor did Dave ask if the band had left.
@@dongiller Well I'm left wondering why he bothered to make the dedication. I know my brain likes to make stuff up, but I'm very sure there's an episode where some young man says something obliquely racist and Dave asks if the band is still here. Such a fan of The Loboses am I that I also recall reading about how they all thought the whole thing was very funny. Probably read that in the Wahoo Gazette. None of this affects my complete enjoyment of this compilation though, Don.
@@dongiller The Wahoo archives are gone forever, aren't they? It was such a great read. Can someone get a hold of Walter or Jay? Maybe they have a flash drive somewhere with all of them on it.
Some guy. You don't know That you know of Walter and Jay tells me something. Not sure what yet. Anyway, I have all of them, or nearly all (I may be missing some from the early, early weeks, before it turned into a more comprehensive chronicle of each show).
@@matthewoboyle6010 Los Lobos is a Chicano band, for this performance, there are more white guys on stage than Mexicans. Just saying what's apparent to everyone.
I had the same reaction. It looks to me like it's Will Lee on bass for all three of the Late Night performances, with Conrad only showing up to play tamborine on "Reva's House". I don't get why they'd do it, though. Especially for "Dream In Blue", that bass line is the backbone of the whole song; they should have let Conrad do his thing.
It would have been nice if they had included the ENTIRE band, rather than just three of the band and David's studio musicians (who while being great musicians, are NOT Los Lobos!)
Plus Hidalgo was a co revolutionary along with Benito Juarez, from Spain. Not our David Hidalgo. There are statues of Benito Juarez and Hidalgo in Los mochis
If you are a music lover how can you deny that these cats are amazing musicians....one of the most diverse bands in the history of music
You should see the mountain jams concert with Derrick Trucks it's bad ass David & Cesar definitely hasn't lost a beat for sure
Obviously.Love them!
Two of the greatest albums ever, The Neighborhood and Kiko...hell, all their records are great.
David Hidalgo has always been in my top 10 guitarists of all time; Los Lobos one of my all time favorite bands

That dude's so slick! His lead playing is among the coolest and tastiest I ever did hear

Just another band from...😊
@garyssimo they are way smarter than that.
Excellent musicians. Love it!
What an amazing band. They don't make em like that anymore.
Outstanding, Don. Gracias!
Never saw the Guadalajara Guido bit before. That was awesome!
I can’t believe they’re not in the rock and roll hall of fame!

Weird Al? 😖 !!!!… I mean wtf !!!
That’s when you know It’s just a popularity contest 😮….
One of my favourite bands! Thank you, thank you, Don G.
Best American band ever.
Great argument there.Peeps that dig these guys are usually very cool.
Thank you for posting!
Miss Dave and Los Lobos rocking out the night 😊😀💖💖💖💖💖‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
They did a best cover ever and a rare song to cover is "Tomorrow Never Knows" by the Beatles....still up on YT from 1993.
Nice and amazing music, I had subscribed 👍

WHAT A BAND - period
The greatest band in the land!
One of the best bands ever
Nobody rock and rolls like LOS LOBOS!
It may be the biggest compliment to Letterman's band that Los Lobos let them sit in with them.
Is that Paul on piano in the first number? Smokin' !
It is.
And Buckwheat Zydeco sitting in with the Lateshow Band in 1999
Mas y mas y mas...
20:55 Dave's scream on camera
Great solos to the neighbor. Pure los lobos
Los Lobos --- dame más y más
a smile on your face
天才が出来上がることはない、天才は最初っから天才!!!
コアなファンは熱狂的だけど、メジャーになり切れないもどかしさ
At 4:55, where is that audience exiting from?
Where ARE you? You guys ROCCK. My guy &I married 26years danced to you at our wedding. I still love you ALL……still together?
National treasures,Viva Mexico!!!!!
Bucket list band for me
David Hildalgo had MONSTER TONE in that opening song! SRV TERRITORY!!
thanks alot for uploading!! is this the totality of their appearances on Letterman?
It is, and thanks!
Man, David Hidalgo got down on the first song with the lead .That was dope mi raza.
Great guns on fire...😎💞💋
Saw them twice at the Greek Theater
Wow David Haldago has dark hair lol
That CD long box!! Lol😂
For a sg man Dave really spanks that Les Paul
Ceasar Rosas for President.
On The Neighborhood is it just David/Caesar/Louie and Steve? Will Lee playing bass for Conrad?
Using white sidemen in place of original members is an original sin. Who's bonehead idea was that and why did Los Lobos go along with it.

January 28, 1999.
Very kiko early days
I've heard worse... especially "This Time". I've heard A LOT worse than that bitchin' tune/performance.
